I should have known everything was going to change when she walked into my tattoo shop... Timid as hell and gorgeous to the extreme. I knew better than even thinking about touching a woman like that. My life is dangerous. My calling wicked. Willing to cross any line to protect the innocent. I thought I’d never see her again until my little boy tumbled and busted his lip, and I found her working at the doctor’s office. The woman who’d taken possession of my thoughts. When it becomes clear she’s in trouble, I offer up a deal. Twenty questions to earn her trust. Too bad trusting me is the last thing she should do. With one kiss, I’m addicted. With one night, we’re falling into a passion greater than either of us has ever known. The voices in my head warn I can never keep her. She can’t know the secret life I lead. Only she’s keeping a secret, too. And I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe, even if it means losing everything…

IT IS HEREEEE!!!! The one we've been waiting for! River and Charleigh are ready to burn up the pages in FROM HERE TO ETERNITY!! These two have had me in a chokehold since the moment I started writing them!! It is intenses. Hot. Sweet. Funny. Suspenseful. That full rollercoaster ride that is going to leave you SOARING!!! I'm so freaking proud of it and excited to share it with you!
▪️ Morally gray hero ▪️ Broody single dad ▪️ Touch her and ☠️ ▪️ Heroine on the run ▪️ Pierced MC ▪️ Ex-motorcycle club ▪️ Secret society ▪️ Band of brothers ▪️ He falls first
Also, that ending. Woah, mind blown!! I legit could've never guessed what was going to happen and the suspense had me on my toes the entire time. What a great romantic suspense!!
read if you like: -small town -he tattoos her -she's on the run -single dad -he falls first -touch her & die -romantic suspense ***there is grief in this
this was so emotional but such a good and entertaining small town romantic suspense. a morally gray, tattoo artist, single dad whose night job is being part of his vigilante MC who saves women from dangerous situations meets a new woman in his small town who has many, many secrets of her own.
This started out promising, but devolved into nonsense. Around 50% I started skimming. The ‘twist’ was obvious but like in a ‘that can’t be it cause it’s so stupid’ kind of way. The suspense part was the last 10ish pages, and sort of came out of nowhere. She’s on the run, but she hasn’t been threatened in years and the bad guy just kind of shows up at the last minute for no reason. That could have been layered throughout the story to create… ya know… suspense. It’s mostly boring, nothing is really developed so everyone can keep their dumb secrets till the end. The mmc’s secret being the most dumb. Why this book didn’t delve deep into the fmc’s trauma and what happened to her is criminal. This book should have started with the first 50-100 pages being her complete back story, create this emotionally destroyed character, then she walks into the tattoo parlour and meets the mmc. Then we could go on her journey with her instead of getting bits and pieces that never really come together.
Stray thoughts:
This is the second time I’ve noted that A.L Jackson can’t write dialogue for kids. What the fuck was that? 5 year olds do not talk like that. Everytime he said Daddy-O my soul cried.
This is also the second time I’ve noted the author using the cringiest pet names. Little Runner? Terrible!
A new and powerful series kicks off with From Here to Eternity. There are some crossover characters from the Redemption Hills series and it's set in the new town of Moonlit Ridge. Things are heating up and getting dangerous. AL Jackson brings her classic longing and angst into full focus and she's gunning to rip your heart out.
From the first moment that River meets Charleigh when she steps into his tattoo parlor there is no going back. They may try to resist, each for their own reasons but when fate brings two people together, you can only run so far.
Charleigh has done a lot of running. The devil is at her heels and her broken spirit is in her hands. This new town might be everything she's looking but if she let's herself fall for this town and it's people, she could bring destruction down on them. River and his little boy, Nolan were just what she needed. Damn, that boy is adorable. Watching her find peace and found family is so rewarding. If anyone deserves a big hug, it's her.
River sets her blood on fire and I can understand why. He loves his family and is fiercely protective of the life they have created. His secret work is hard and dangerous but no matter what he says, he's a knight in tattered armor.
As always, the heat is high in here, but it is also very tender. Charleigh has been hurt before and River can tell. So he doesn't let his passion run away with him and he is so sweet with her.
Dual narrated by Austin Stone and Andi Arndt. As always, AL Jackson's books usually have the greatest impact on me in the audio book format. Her lyrical words come alive beautifully this way.
5 Stars 3 on the spice scale

*Thank you to Valentine PR and the author for an ALC & ARC of this title.*
When I saw this book on IG I was enraptured by the book cover, the blurb and the potential. I thought it's definitely going to be a 5 star read.
I loved the first quarter of the book. The author introduced us to the MMC and his crew. They're former members of an MC and current members of an organisation that I will not reveal but which readers discover soon after you start reading.
Both MCs have lots of traumas which they navigate around in order to not be together. Yes you read that right. There's insta lust and infatuation between the two but due to their pasts they cannot afford to be romantically involved. Something which they fight through the second and third quarter. It is a slow burn with slower action which brought it downhill for me. I expected more violence, more MC shenanigans, just more.
The fourth quarter sums up everything the book should have been. It's full of thrill and revelations. There's a major twist at the end which I kinda suspected but thought of as far fetched.
Also his son is just 5 years old but the way the author writes him as a very mature, very emotionally logical and aware is not relatable. No way a 5 year old talks and acts like that. NO WAY!
Loved the MFCs relationship with the MMCs sister. The author played a big role in forcing that friendship and love on us, at some point it felt fake but all in all their relationship became sisterly and I was all for it.
Anyway, I really wanted to love this book, to adore it even because it had all the potential for that but at the end it just fell flat.
I will read the sister's story though. I am still intrigued.
Holy moly this book was so good! I went in totally blind. Had no clue what this book was about. I literally just kept seeing everyone's edits on instagram and based on those vibes I knew I had to put this one on my TBR. And let me tell you something, I am so glad that I decided to go in blind on this one. I was hooked immediately.
From Here to Eternity is the first book in the new series called Moonlit Ridge that follows River and Charleigh. Charleigh is on the run and stumbles into River's tattoo shop for a significant tattoo. The tattoo sparks River's interest and he can't stop thinking of the mystery woman who stumbled into his shop. And it isn't until River takes his son to the doctor's when he runs into Charleigh again. But Charleigh isn't the only one who has secrets. And the question is, will thee secrets bring these two together or tear them apart?
I loved everything about this book. I loved the suspense. From the moment I started reading this one, I was immediately hooked and AL Jackson had me guessing the plot twist from the jump. So if you love a book that will have you thinking what is to come, what the plot twist will be and theorizing til the end this is the book for you!
I absolutely loved River, Charleigh and Nolan so much. I really appreciate a single dad romance that was so different than most of the books out there. For one, River is a single dad to a little boy, which I feel like is hardly ever done. And Nolan? This boy was so dang cute! He really brought such a light and fun aspect to the book. He made me giggle throughout the book. And his instant connect with Charleigh was super sweet. I just loved their story so much and I am now officially invested in the rest of the band of brothers in this secret society that River is a part of.
You should most definitely read this book if you like: - Romantic Suspense - Single Dad - Morally Grey Hero - Heroine on the Run - Secret Society/Band of Brothers - Touch Her and Die - He Falls First and Hard - Ex-MC Club - Small Town
River is a tattoo artist at River of Ink. When a woman named Charleigh walks through his doors wanting her first one he knew he should have turned her away but didn’t. She stirred feelings in him yet knew he was not good for her. River has a lot on his plate but when he takes his little boy to the doctor and none other than Charleigh is there to help, he might have to open up and let her in. They both are trying to make their lives better but maybe together they can truly be stronger. This is a sweet but emotional side of the gritty biker world we usually know. River’s son Nolan is such a sweetie and I loved the interactions with him. Told in both present and past tense you get the full picture of what they went through. Told in dual POV and also first person for the present and third person for the past. Get ready for a romantic suspense romance with tattooed men that will protect those they care for. “Let me be your shield, little runner.” Shocking Secrets, twists, action and the men we all want intertwine in this new biker-ish series! This has everything I want in a romance and more!! Just.So.Good…Just Wow!
It has been a while since I picked up Miss Jackson' s book. It is trulh a while. When I listed to From Here to Eternity, I realized how much I miss the dramatic writing. The writing still gets me.
The plot is simple, the characters are likeable. And yet I love this.
Audiobook re-read did NOT disappoint. The male + female narrators brought River, Charleigh, + Nolan to life. It was fun to revisit them in this format a couple months after eyeball reading them. I fully enjoyed getting immersed back into Moonlit Ridge in preparation for book 2 of the series, Under an Endless Moon.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I absolutely LOVED this book. Full disclosure. I have a thing for MMC’s with the name River. I wanted my second son to be named River, but my husband refused (feel free to DM me if you’re curious the reasoning). So needless to say I had high hopes going into it that River would live up to my made up expectations in my head, and boy does he DELIVER.
Charleigh is a heroine on the run and after months of thinking about getting a tattoo to help with her grieving, she finds the courage to walk into Rivers shop and the rest as they say is history. The connection + tension was radiating off these two. I loved how River recognized what was happening with Charleigh and made it a point to be a soft spot for her to land and give her the love + support she craved to finally stop running.
Not only did I love their relationship and how it progressed so naturally and beautifully, but I ADORED Charleigh’s friendship with Raven + her bond she formed with River’s little boy Nolan. The twist twisted and the resolution was done so well. River tattooing over Charleigh’s scars of her past was so poetic and a truly wonderful end to a wonderful story.
5+ 'Make me remember' Stars! ARC provided via Valentine PR in exchange for an honest review.
Oh. My. Goodness. What an amazing start to A.L. Jackson’s newest series! From Here to Eternity reminds me so much of the book that made me fall in love with this author which happens to be Give Me a Reason. I get why because this series has the same vibes but with different themes as well. Also, you’ll happen to see some kind of crossover with the Redemption Hills series, and I am all over the idea of getting more time with all these characters. But now let’s focus on why you should check out Amy’s newest release.
So, From Here to Eternity is the first installment in Jackson’s Moonlit Ridge series and it focuses on River Tayte and Charleigh Lowe. Charleigh enters River’s tattoo shop and their entire lives start changing. After a very meaningful tattoo session, the sparks are flying but River is not having it. His life is complicated, dark and full of secrets. He wants to give all his energy to his cause and to his adorable kid, Nolan. Same happens with Charleigh, wanting to leave her past behind. But their paths continue to interconnect and when Nolan and Raven (River’s sister) keep getting these two in the same room, it’s impossible to keep fighting the chemistry. But secrets are sometimes too much to bear, and they will definitely make things difficult for this couple. Will this new love be strong enough to keep going?
He was a riot to my senses and a whisper to my soul.
I am so not sorry that I devoured this baby in just a single day. As soon as I started reading, my entire being was fully connected to this story and these characters. I just love the feelings that A.L. Jackson’s writing bring out of me. The way she writes, how she develops her characters’ personalities, how they find the light when everything seems so dark, the beautiful and intense chemistry of the main couple, the adorableness of having such cute kids and wonderful secondary characters, the surprises, the suspense… I can continue to list everything I loved because there wasn’t a single thing I didn’t love about this book. River, Charleigh and Nolan have stolen my heart completely and even though their journey is full of ups and downs, it’s definitely worth it in the end.
“Don’t think I want to make you forget anymore, Charleigh. Think I want to help you remember exactly who you are.”
Therefore, (yes, be ready) I am rating From Here to Eternity with my special 5+ STARS rating. It’s been several months and quite a list of books in between since I gave this rating so you can sure imagine how much I enjoyed and loved reading this one. I loved everything about this story, the intensity between Charleigh and River, the cuteness overload of Nolan and THAT ENDING. Holy moly, that was sure a surprise! Trust me when I say, you don’t want to miss meeting this new crew (and catching up with others you already love!). I seriously cannot wait to read the next story, I am so ready for Raven and Otto’s book!
This review may contain spoilers, so fair warning, upon reading the review. Also my tags may have spoilers in them so be forewarned before checking out full review.
First Impressions "From Here To Eternity" is the first book in this authors' newest series 'Moonlit Ridge" and it is slightly connected to some of her other series but you don't need to read those to read this series. I just knew that I had to read this one and it took me much longer than I would have liked to read it. I was so fascinated to see where this author would be taking this series and yeah I am completely on board. AL Jackson and sexy bikers, secret brotherhood, shy heroine on the run, and a adorable little boy to charm your socks off??? How can one resist all that delectable teasers? Cause I could only resist for so long haha I think this just might be my favorite AL Jackson, or its at least tied with Give Me A Reason.
First Line The sound of the tattoo machine whirred in my shop.
The Main Protagonists The Hero: River The Heroine: Charleigh
Summary River is a single father and will do anything to protect his son and his sister whom he has protected most of his life. He has now formed his own kind of brotherhood and they make it their mission to help women and children in danger or being abused by the men in their lives and take actions to protect them. River also funs a tattoo shop and is one of the best artists in the city. Then walks in a woman who is shy but shows a firm iron of strength inside of her. There is a instant connection that draws him to her like a moth to flame. His son is drawn just as he is to her. Charleigh is on the run from a scary past and being tormented in losing her son. Now she is trying to make a new life for herself and keep safe. River makes her feel safe in a way that she has never felt. He is stirring feelings in her she thought was dead. But her life is not her own and she doesn't know that she can ever build anything with him, but all River is asking is her trust and she wonders if what she is hiding from will haunt her and ruin everything she is bui, ding with River and his beautiful generous son.
What I Loved What on earth did I just read? And am I still in reality? Cause it certainly doesn't feel like it at all. I am so sad that I took so long to read this book because it completely blew my mind. I loved so many things about this book and it fed my romantic yearnings in every single way. From Here to Eternity is the best book I have read so far this year and I couldn't get enough. I loved the couple dynamic. Bad boy/Shy girl is one of my favorite pairings and I just don't see it too often and I really respect that A.L. Jackson is willing to write this dynamic because so many authors I don't see writing this anymore.
There was so much heart and tears that are built throughout this story and I was curious to see how the son would fit into the story but WOW the reveal at the end. I swear this author does these crazy reveals when you least expect it and while I had guessed some of the clues had come into the story, I definitely didn't see it at first and I respect an author who can develop certain twists you least expect. Their connection was so deeply intimate and entrenching in details that were so complex and like beautiful little gifts of reveals that you are aching for. The writing is lyrical and so beautiful but I do recommend this author's books in audio if you can read it in that format, you just enjoy them so so much more in that way. I was stunned in the way in which this author captivates in little and big ways. The characters are so rich and vivid and just come to life off of the pages. I resonated so easily with the heroine. Rivers crew were hilarious and man they are all going to fall so hard when they get stung by cupids arrow haha And then we have sweet Nolan, who is River's son. And he won my heart from the first interaction I saw with him.
The romance was so woven intricately with details, charm and so much heart. Its a story that is so emotionally compelling and gives you that deeper insight into the human condition and what makes a person "tick". If you love some complex plot building in your romance stories, then this is a book and an author that must go on your must read list.

Steam/Spice Explanations
Simmering cup of tea---soft warm touches and light intimacy Warmin' by the fire- a medium level of sexual tension, a balance of sexual and emotional intimacy, lighter on the details in the sexual moments. Steamin' up the room -the sexual content is more explicit in the language and tone, heavier amount of sexual scenes. Blazing fire to the building-The prime focus is the sex scenes, scorching hot, and could burn one. Less focus on the emotional intimacy to the relationship.
Wow, this book hooked me right from the meet-cute. There was instant angsty tension between River and Charleigh and I ate it up.
This is a woman on the run story with Charleigh having a dark past that slowly gets brought to life through flashbacks. She is working as a medical assistant and first meets the broody & wildly attractive River, when she goes into his shop to get a special tattoo.
River, a single dad, became a fierce protector to save his younger sister. He met his band of brothers on the streets and from there they were inseparable. They have a dark secret that very few know. When he meets Charleigh and sees the shadows in her eyes, he knows she also has secrets. Him and his friends have rules they stick to, but he’s willing to break them all if it means he can keep her.
This book was an emotional rollercoaster. Charleigh tried so hard to hold onto her secrets but River wouldn’t let his “little runner” go. I freaking adored River’s son, Nolan, and the relationship he had with all of River’s tough friends. The bond he formed with Charleigh literally had me tearing up with how freaking sweet it was.
This is a slow burn romance but River and Charleigh’s chemistry and spice was so worth every angsty second of the wait!
The climax of this book and the plot twist at the end truly BLINDSIDED ME. I read a lot of romantic suspense stories and I did NOT see this one coming at all.
If you love romantic suspense stories between a morally gray MMC and a woman on the run, go add 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐛𝐲 𝐀.𝐋. 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐨𝐧, to your TBR today!
This started promising.... but ended up being nonsense. To be honest, I started skimming just to reach the end. The 'twist' was obvious but in a 'that can't be it because it's so stupid' way. The suspense part was the last 10ish pages and completely out of the blue. She's on the run, but she hasn't been threatened in years, and the bad guy just kind of shows up at the last minute for no reason. That could have been layered throughout the story to create... you know... suspense.
As I'm writing this review, I lowered my rating from 3 to 2 stars. Just because I finished it at this point.
Likewise, the jumps between past and present weren't entirely necessary and didn't exactly add the layer of suspense one would expect. Truthfully, it didn't reveal any conclusions I hadn't already assumed. The author already set the reader up with plenty of context clues to insinuate the obvious, so re-iterating both characters' histories through a series of short-lived recollections was redundant.
Also, I couldn't stand the dialogue of Nolan, seriously 5 year olds do not talk like that!! Really "Daddy-O". Are you kidding me!
The cringiest pet names. I couldn't stand it Little Runner????? Absolutely abysmal!
Ugh. I’ve struggled reading this book, and I expected better, given the high rating. The plot is good, but some parts feel cliche and cheesy, and dialogue from every character seems stilted—like it came out of my GCSE drama class. It was all a bit drawn out, and I was bored.
Unfortunately, I think I started on the back foot with Charleigh. Firstly, what is that spelling? Second, she whimpered her way through the tiniest of tattoos and continued to be underwhelming throughout - despite being a survivor. I wanted to root for her but I was too busy skim reading.
OMG THE NARRATORS WERE PERF! And I just realized it was Austin stone & andi ardnt!!!
I am excited for this new series!! I love AL Jackson, and the romantic suspense genre hits hard for me 😌🙈 this book had some slower moments but it really turned around & ofmg the last 1/3 I couldn’t stop listening to! The ending was freaking wild yall
River & Charlie were HOT!!! I loved them together & they both gave the other the missing piece they were lacking. I really really loved the friendship between Charlie & Raven though, ugh I love a good bestie duo who’s there for each other through thick & thin. And Nolan 🥹🥹🥹 he was the absolute cutest
Spice: 🌶️🌶️ Form: Audio
Tropes: Opposites attract Single dad Small town Found family Morally grey hero She’s on the run ex-MC club hero Touch her and you die
Loved this book!! There’s something about a man who’s all in protection mode from the start. Also loved how the Lawson boys were in this book as well. Huh and that ending, man that hit my heartstrings!!
I am obsessed with AL Jackson and this book absolutely CONSUMED ME. If you've read the Redemption Hills series, you know that she writes the most beautiful, gripping stories full of twists and turns. They did not disappoint in this book. I was on the edge of my seat, spidey senses tingling, working out what was going on!
I adored River and Charleigh's story. It was truly epic, from their very first meeting to the last page of the epilouge. Their feelings are so deep, and they are just the perfect match for each other. I loved both of them so much. River was a broody, single Dad with a dark past which was filled with trauma but he came out on top. I love him (and his brothers) for what they do and when this all comes together, honestly I had tears dripping. Charleigh is our girl on the run, and when her story plays out, I just wanted to reach through and hug her. She is stronger for it though and I loved the relationship she built with River, cutie Nolan and Raven.
There's actually just so much I could say about this book, but my words cannot do it justice. This was an emotional and gritty journey which resulted in a truly epic love story.
Add to your TBR if you like: - small town - broody single Dad x heroine on the run - band of brothers / secret society - close proximity - he falls first - touch her and d!3 - romantic suspense
Thank you to Amy and Valentine PR for the arc of this book. I urge you to give this one a go!
Thank you to A.L. Jackson for an advanced copy to read. She promised it would vibe like Redemption Hills and she did NOT let me down!
River is a gruff, standoffish tattoo artist with a son, Nolan, and a sister, Raven, whom he loves with his whole heart. Charleigh enters his life in an unexpected way, and her presence penetrates his soul so deeply he rethinks his entire world view and shifts it so she can slide right on into the cage where he protects those he loves. Charleigh's been on the run for years, and Moonlit Ridge is her most recent destination. One night, she finally gets up the nerve to head to Rivers of Ink, the tattoo parlor that River owns, to get her first ink. The experience shakes both main characters, and the tension begins.
This was a slow burn in terms of Amy books, but it took time for both characters to be emotionally available to one another. Both have their reasons for keeping people out, yet that little bit of trust builds into something bigger because they see some of themselves in the other. Charleigh knows River should be scary, but all she feels is safe. River knows he should help Charleigh get to someplace safe so she can stop running, yet the safest place is by his side.
I'm always in love with the children in Amy's novels, and Nolan was no exception. Just the sweetest kid who is eager to please and to show love to people he loves. He instantly connects with Charleigh, and she with him, and their relationship is emotionally beautiful.
Other things I loved: - Some Redemption Hills cameos! - The theme of living with grief - Intentionally giving a part of yourself to someone who MATTERS - Found family - The poetic writing style gets me every time - The set-up for the books to come in this series - The "who did this to you?" vibes - The dichotomy of light and darkness, good and evil, sweet and spicy - which represent the balances between River and Charleigh, dangerously sweet - River's promise to never hurt Charleigh... makes me emotional just thinking about how important that can be to people who have trauma and have been hurt by people who are supposed to love them - Little Runner - Being permanently marked on someone or something - that kind of love that inspires this "only for you" mentally; River only changes his ways for people who REALLY matter to him... it's beautiful
I was obsessed with this book from the moment I picked it up, wanting to discover both River's and Charleigh's secrets. After 50%, I literally couldn't put it down. I became obsessed with figuring out how the shadows and monsters chasing these characters were going to be put to rest, and at what cost. Jackson does suspense, who did this to you, and you're safe with me seamlessly. Five perfect stars for From Here to Eternity.
Editing to add: I'm OBSESSED with the audiobook! Both narrators were amazing bringing Charleigh and River (and Nolan) to life. It made an emotional book even more heart wrenching. FIVE stars. Highly recommend either format!
Oh, be still my heart! A.L. Jackson really ratches up the feels in this sexy, romantic suspense that will leave you swooning for River Tayte.
Boasting an intriguing premise and a morally gray hero who deftly stole his way into my heart, “From Here to Eternity” transports readers to Moonlit Ridge, where a secret society known as Sovereign Sanctum exists with one singular, yet noble, purpose—to protect the abused. And at the very forefront of this society is River Tayte, a single dad who lives on the edge of danger, taking vigilante measures in his continuing quest to safeguard the innocent.
Enter Charleigh Lowe, a woman who is running from her past and living a secret identity in Moonlit Ridge after escaping her abusive, powerful ex. Fate then takes a step forward and places Charleigh on a path that puts her smack dab in River’s trajectory, and the sparks begin to fly. It isn’t long before the heat turns up on their simmering attraction and fear has Charleigh ready to bolt.
Along with the many sweet and sexy moments sprinkled throughout their journey, there are also plenty of bumps and twisty turns along the way as River and Charleigh struggle to navigate the obstacles that threaten to block their road to happiness. But rest assured that A.L. Jackson’s creative hand will guide this couple toward the requisite HEA that we, as readers, so desperately seek.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… when it comes to writing romance, A.L. Jackson is the real deal. She is truly a consummate storyteller, especially when it comes to writing bad buys with hearts of gold and the women who love and challenge them at every turn. “From Here to Eternity” is simply the latest example of this author’s gifted touch. Though River and Charleigh’s story is just the start of her brand new series, she has certainly set the bar high for all the other Moonlit Ridge stories yet to follow.
Headlines: Protective male Single dad Hiding Abuse
There were some heavy themes in From Here to Eternity but they were balanced well with a connection that seemed meant to be (please check the content warnings at the end if you need to). Charleigh had been on the run for some time, grieving and just surviving when she turned up at River's tattoo shop hoping to imprint some words on her skin. There was a real fizzle of something between these two.
River found himself inviting Charleigh into his home and family with his son Nolan. Charleigh found so many things she needed in this found family, his sister with similar experiences, his son who she adored and some small sense of safety.
River was a complex, morally grey hero. He gave off dark and dangerous vibes but there was a soft centre. The single dad element was endearing, the cause he and his friends pursued was pretty noble. Charleigh was completely skittish, untrusting but her past gave her reasons to want to be invisible. The revealing of that past was difficult reading.
The reveal that came in the latter part of the read was so unexpected. It made for a tense and exciting end.
I fear that I just wasn’t in the mood for this kind of book. It had potential with the shy / intimidated girl and the scary tattooed biker but it didn’t hit the spot. It felt very much like insta lust and I don’t like that in books. I liked River’s little boy the best because he was just so cute.
ส่วนนางเอกก้มี severely traumatized past (ซึ่ง TWs ยุ่บยั่บเลยตรงนี้ บอกไว้ก่อน) ใช้ชีวิต on the run - constantly moving from town to town พยามหนีคนคนหนึ่งมาตลอดห้าปี ใช้ชื่อปลอม ไม่สนิทสนมกับใคร จนวันนึงเดินเข้ามาในร้านสักของพระเอก
I read 27 chapters but stopped at ch.28 (p.190) and read the last two (ch.60 & epilogue)
There was just ONE chapter that I liked. The rest was really boring. Usually, I dnf a book between ch.10-15 but I really pushed it with a hope for better.
I wanted to like this book since many people on IG did but it was not for me. (I think maybe this author in general is not for me 🤷♀️)
Main tropes: Romance with suspense. Single dad. Traumatic main characters. Found fam.
River is a tattoo artist in the town. His life has changed since Charleigh walked into his tattoo shop. With a lot of touches during tattooing, he is more drawn to Charleigh than he'd ever imagined. What could I say more about the plot. Oh…and everybody got their own back stories.
The story started out very strong and promising. The chemistry between the two main characters are strong even though I found it a bit weird. Just something that would not possibly happen at the first sight. The plot twist is the one who brought me back to the mood but I have to get through a huge chunk of pages to get to that point. However, I expected that big plot twist would affect me more. The suspense just came out of the blue.
A.L. Jackson is a favorite author of mine, I love her engaging and lyrical way of writing stories. And this book is MY FAVORITE BOOK OF HERS YET!!! River and Charleigh both have pasts they would like to have stay hidden, and Charleigh has been running from hers for years. The flashbacks build up the story in the best way. It is heart breaking, but the twists and turns and the way everything comes together flawlessly. I absolutely adore these two, and the side characters!! The next book can’t come soon enough!
The audio is narrated by Austin Stone and Andi Arndt, and honestly I can’t imagine anyone doing a better job, they were the perfect fit for River and Charleigh. Austin was absolutely amazing at capturing River’s grit and hardness, but also his love for his people. And I love his chuckles. Andi is amazing, and the emotion and personality of the character always shines through when she is narrating. AND It’s produced by Lyric Audiobooks, such a dream team 👏🏼

This is a spin-off of the Redemption Hills series, which you do not need to read first, HOWEVER it is great and I highly recommend it!
Ohh I really adored this book and the characters so much. There was suspense that kept me wanting to know more, the romance was done really well. It tugged at my heart strings too.
