Mating Call

Rate this book
He's loved her most of his life. But he’s not the only one who wants her…

Troy Thomsen, the only Boston native in the Order, has survived an abusive foster home and the death of his younger brother before becoming a New Breed. A loner, Troy dreams of the day he can tell feisty Evelyn O’Donnell how he feels about her. But even though they’ve lived in Southie all their lives, their worlds could not be further apart.

Evelyn is human.

Raised in an ideal Irish Catholic home, Evy is studying to be a youth counselor unaware she’s being watched. Compelled by the protective instinct, Troy is powerless to stay away from Evy, until his attention leads a group of rogues straight to her. As the war continues to rage around them, Troy vigilantly tracks her as Wolf. Even if he finds her, he knows he has no right to her. But once their worlds collide, there’s no going back. In the middle of a war filled with hatred and prejudice Troy and Evy must find a place where they belong.

I was given this book for a honest review(LOP)
WARNING THERE ARE SPOILERS IN THIS REVEIW!!!!

I loved this book. I had already read the first and second one and loved where she took this one. Troy has always been clouded in mystery and in this book you were able to get a glimpse into what makes him the way he is. It was enlightening and touching. I also loved when he finally got to be united with the girl he's been pinning after in all of the books, Evelyn. Her developing powers was just like the icing on the cake for me.

The thing between James and pax is fabulous. I love the chemistry they have, I always wondered why pax was holding back so hard, seeing a little bit of what happened made you understand what he's going through. When James got hurt and he was in surgery I held my breath until he came our of it okay. Then the author throws you another curb ball when James changes, I am so eager to read the next book. I can hardly wait I really hope it goes into James and Pax's relationship. I am cheering for them ending up together!

If all that wasn't enough the author also brought the goddess into this book and revealed what the relationship between Reyn and her. You got to learn about the dangers that the goddess is in and who is causing the danger towards her. I absolutely loved the new dynamics brought on by their relationship coming to light and all the information gained.

The next thing that I loved was the new element of the Nagual not wanting to leave Ana. As well as her being able to communicate with the spirit, gleam to spirit to her and that the Nagual only listens to her. It makes you think that she might also be aj k'o'ol.

The author developed the relationships in the mates pairs and everyone in the compound in general perfectly. I loved the new relationships that formed and what looks like it might form in the near future. I can not wait to read the next one!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the Author and the “Lovers of Paranormal” Group on Goodreads.com

Mating Call was a great continuation of the New Breeds series. This book still contained all of the action and adventure of the first two books. There is a lot going on. All of the characters are back with a few more.

The relationship between Troy and Evy is interesting because he is a New Breed and she is a Human. Evy finds out about her special gift from the Goddess and what she can now do. I love Troy and Evy together. I love Troy!

There are many questions left unanswered in this book. One of my personal burning questions is what's up with the Hummingbird Naugal, I am assuming it plays an important part in the story and I can't wait to find out what it is. I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait for the next one!

I received a copy of this book from LoP in place of an honest review.

I liked the cover of this book and enjoyed the story line. I was a little confused because I hadn't read the first two books. I know I must have missed a lot of information in those two books.

There is a group called the Order and they are New Breeds. They can form into different shapes. They try to stay hidden and don't want to draw attention to themselves. They are at war and it is one humans need to stay out of at all costs.

Troy Thomsen grew up in a bad home and was abused. He always loved Evelyn O'Donnell, the thing is he knows that he isn't good enough to be with her. He is a loner and stays to himself. The only thing is he follows Evy around everywhere in his wolf form and that causes her to become kidnapped.

Evy has loved Troy but he seemed to disappear. She grew up in a Catholic home. She always has to do the right thing and she is really close to her sister. She gets kidnapped and thinks she will never see her family again. She is saved but she can't see her family if she stays with Troy. Seems on her birthday things would have been out of her hands anyway.

I will be going back to read the other books. This would be a wonderful series if I truly knew what was going on. It is something different and that is what I look for. So if you have read the other two books then this is the book for you.

Again there was this problem of concentrating on too many people. Instead of taking one maybe two people, the writer had so many points of view going on, it was hard to keep in mind, what was the storyline of the person.
I liked it more than the second book of the series, but I have to say, I'm not convinced and will not follow this series.
The whole story moved way too fast and simple, in my opinion. As soon as one of the characters started to struggle there was nearly immediately a solution presented.
I was an okay read but nothing I would strongly recommend.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review by the author via Lovers of Paranormal.

This book once again carried on from exactly from where the previous book finished. I really like the way the author moves from one book to the next. We again had the same characters from the first two books but with a couple of new faces. The characters interact so well and the dialogue is always believable and well-written. There is still so much to be discovered as new storylines have developed within this book. I can't wait for book 4 to find out more.

This is the third of the New Breed Series. Troy Thomsen has always loved Evelyn O’Donnell. He is compelled to watch her from afar. He evens donates money to the youth crisis center where she works. Will they get together? How would the relationship work because Evy is human. You feel so much emotions throughout the book. You kept wondering what will happen next. Please, Martha Bourke come on with the next book. So excited. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the Author and the “Lovers of Paranormal” Group on Goodreads.com

I haven't read any of the other books in the series, however I really enjoyed this book. I am certainly intrigued to find out what happens to the characters in the following books, there are some unanswered questions I feel that will be answered.
I thought the book was well written and the author did very good job with the dynamics of the characters.
Bring on book 4!

This novel gives you a gleam of light into portals - but, be prepared for the attraction of the New Breed. You may be unaware of it- you are being watched - by what - I will not tell. There is good, but then there is evil lurking. Be safe, my friends.
And, take heed “Mating Call” has some f words and a few other expletives in it. Putting that aside, where else can you get something interesting where worlds collide for less than a buck?

Mating Call by Martha Bourke
***I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)***

This is my favorite book in the series. Why… Because I LOVE Troy! In the previous books, Troy was a loner full of mystery. But not anymore ;) Now we finally get to know Troy’s story. I think the reason why I loved this book more than the others is because of the groundwork Martha did in the previous books. I got butterflies in my stomach when he was finally united with Evelyn. Even though Evelyn was “just a human” (sux to be human), I was glad the goddess gifted her with powers. Now she’s a kickass human ;) . As always, Martha made her shifter world even more enticing by making the goddess a more present character in the series. We learn about her relationship with Reyn and her personal struggles and challenges. Martha did an excellent job writing book three! This story continues where book two left off and adds new elements of intrigue and mystic.

As with the other books in the series, there are too many people and we skip from POV to POV at break neck speed. It gets confusing at times and exhausting at other times. The story lines also lack depth. A problem occurs and 1-2-3 it's solved in almost a magical thinking sort of way at times that leaves you going huh?

That said this has been my favorite of the series thus far. Maybe I am getting used to her style.

Loved it! Storyline was intriguing action packed, steamy romantic and written in a way to engage your attention. Loved Eva and Troy's chemistry and interaction. How no matter how hard they fought the attraction they were destined to be together. (Not that they had smooth sailing getting there). This one would be my favorite in the series. Would recommend.
