When a fae prince goes missing, Gwil and Hyax are called in to help.
Nothing is easy when you're a vampire dating fae royalty, but with his sire demanding his help, and his boyfriend's parents trying to split them up, finding a fae prince who has vanished into thin air is one of the least complicated parts of Gwil's afterlife.
Searching for the Prince is the second installment of Fang & Fae, a MM Paranormal Romance series, where a vampire and a fae prince go from best friends to lovers while solving mysteries along the way
REBECCA COHEN spends her days dreaming of living in a Tudor manor house, or a Georgian mansion. Alas, the closest she comes to this is through her characters in her historical romance novels. She also dreams of intergalactic adventures and fantasy realms, but because she’s not yet got her space or dimensional travel plans finalised, she lives happily in leafy Hertfordshire, England, with her husband and young son. She can often be found with a pen in one hand and sloe gin with lemon tonic in the other.
It took me way too long to get through this. The plot and complex world-building was interesting, which was what made me pick up this installment even after the lackluster experience I had with the first book, but it wasn’t enough to keep me fully invested.
I was hoping for more romance, more of Hyax and Gwil together. For all they talk about how much they love each other, I just couldn’t feel it.
The undercover op portion was slightly more exciting, but it was too brief to really enjoy. Even though the ending felt like a happy-for-now, for me this series ends here.
“I love you, my pointy-toothed muppet.” “You too, my favourite sparkly douchebag.”
I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.
Tropes & CWs (spoilers): - Political marriage - Vampire vs fae prince - Mentions of cheating (not between MCs) - Strict top/bottom - Jealousy
This is the second book in the Fang and Fae series, and best enjoyed when read in order. This review contains spoilers for the previous book. In addition, this series is one of many within a well-defined and lush Britain-based paranormal world, and several of the characters from other books cross over into this story.
4.25/5 stars! This is the second book in the Fang and Fae series by author Rebecca Cohen. This was a super fun read and there was a lot of humor interwoven. The flow of the story is great, but there are quite a few grammatical and spelling errors. This could still get cleared up by publication, so I'm happy to give it a solid 4 stars at this time.
Searching for the Prince is the second book in the Fang and Fae series. I feel this series is best read in order. We are back with Gwil and Hyax as they have more cases to solve. I love these two so much. It was great watching them figure their relationship out. In my opinion this is a great story with a fun plot. I really can't wait for the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book and series.
Just when Hyax has made some head way on his relationship with Gwil, Queen Talia goes back on her word. Now she’s pushing for Hyax to marry Metra and bring the two fae tribes: Elementa and Tasharick together. Hyax is enraged as his mother, Queen Talia, still believes in the old ways of him having a harem. He does’t want a harem the only one he loves is Gwil and will not push him aside for anyone else. It’s going to hurt even worse when he has to go back to Gwil and explain the changed situation. It doesn’t help Gwil as he still feels useless because he was once human and turned to vampire by his sire, Solivatus.
But there’s a big issue to come and Hyax and Gwil will have to put their issue on the back burner. They are contacted by two older vampires: Tobias Flume and Solivatus. It’s a desperate plea from Queen Hylei and King James, as their only son, Simon has been kidnapped. Simon and Robin had only just been married. They believed he was kidnapped by the nasty elves. Robin and Simon have a very unique magical bond and neither parent can track him. Time is important as Simon is fae/vampire and needs to feed from Robin, soon. Flume has a special “spark” for Hyax that Queen Hylei has sent, he would listen to message once he and Gwil were home.
Solivatus mentions that Gwil has a special connection to a network of sewer dwellers and Copperpipe can find out just about anything. Gwil is off to find Copperpipe aka potato. In the meantime, Hyax get’s a very surprise visit from vampire King James. King James was born a vampire and not of the undead. He’s also very faithful to his wife, Fae Queen Hylei. In fact, King James puts some thoughts in Hyaxs’ head with his and Gwil’s situation. Most importantly Queen Hylei believes Hyax’s connection to Gwilym Hilt is the same branch of magic that Robin and Simon have. Vampire/fae pairings are very rare and Hyax knew how different the magic was when channeling a spell through Gwil. He tells King James he has use of a book from the Vampire Council “Magical Concepts for the Faint-Hearted”. He points out two spells “weaversnipe” and “mirroricom” and sigils that are the key. The bottom line is Hyax and Gwil will need all the help they can get. As King James believes they are up against the most dangerous, ancient creature, created by remnants of powerful sorcerers who managed to achieve immortality, the lich.
It will all lead to Gwil and Hyax to see Robin, who’s staying at Crofton Hall, manor of the Dark Earl, Ben Redbourn and once the home of the most dangerous vampire known to anyone, Sebastian Hewel. Gwil and Hyax will meet some of the oddest combination of creatures under the roof of Crofton Hall. But who better to have your back when there’s danger and lives to be saved?
Rebecca Cohen creates an exciting tale of a dangerous rescue with “Searching For The Prince” from the “Fang and Fae” series. The author brings all the characters together to help save Simon and Catlin from the clutches of evil. Gwil and Hyax will join forces with: Robin Flint; Senior Warlock, Ashley Niven; Alex Reynolds, elf, assistant to Dark Earl Rebourn; Jack Webb, siren, legal wiz of the Invigilators; and Karl Vinter, third level demon, valet to Rebourn. There’s also the impatient vampires: Very powerful, Sebastian Hewel, Tobias Flume, and Solivatus, who continues to disrupt Gwil’s and Hyax’s life. I think Solivatus needs to meet someone who will take him to task, so he will leave Gwil and Hyax alone. Of course there’s my favorite: the sewer dwellers and Copperpipe aka potato, who has the weirdest taste for payment, like eclairs. Then there’s the furry cuteness of Midnight and Meddi.
Just what is going on with Queen Talia and Queen Vaness of the Elementa tribe and trying to get her son Metra married off to Hyax. There are those working against Hyax and Gwil, but there are some that support their choice to be together. Gwil will also reunite with his younger sister, Penelope the Dark Duchess of Linden. What will happen between Hyax and Gwil. Gwil always considers himself a low level vampire. He feels he’s got nothing to offer Hyax. He doesn’t want to sponge off of Hyax. Will it work out between them or split them apart?
I give “Searching For The Prince” from the “Fang and Fae” series a double high recommendation. I highly suggest reading “Pining For The Prince” also the first book that introduces Gwil and Hyax. To get familiar with the “Dark Earls” I highly recommend “Destiny” and “Subterfuge” as these series both cross over with many of the characters. Rebecca Cohen is just fantastic when it comes to the paranormal world of “Fang and Fae” and the “Dark Earls”. She is outstanding in weaving these two worlds together. The stories are entertaining, exciting, suspenseful, with magic, unusual spells, humor, lot’s of snark and steamy romantic moments.
Searching for the Prince is Prince Simon's kidnapping and rescue from Gwil and Hyax's POV. And how their betrothal was broken by Fae politics. The royals of the Elementa tribe push for a marriage between Prince Hyax and their son, Prince Metra. The Elementas hint that a marriage between them and the Tasharick tribe would prevent the renewal of armed conflict. For political reasons, Queen Talia agrees. Gwil is devastated when Hyax is pushed into agreeing. In his mind, he understands. In his heart, he doesn't. Assisting in the rescue of Simon comes with the favor of two major vampiric houses and Gwil's infamous sire. And the offers of help. "We abandoned arranged marriages centuries ago if one of those involved had a partner." (p 20, Hyax) It's pure classism. Gwil is a 'common vampire' in the eyes of the royals. So he doesn't count. My sympathies were for both men, Hyax for his sense of duty and Gwil for his poor sense of self-worth. There are a lot of steamy scenes. Some are as sexy as heck. Some are bittersweet. The support of King James and Robin Flint raise Gwil's status and brings notice from the Council and Invigilators. And I'm sure that it will prove profitable in future books, Even as she softened her stance towards Gwil, I can't help disliking Talia. Copperpipe is a blast. His disrespectful "Hello Queenie" (p243) was awesome. Hope he'll pop in, in more books. Worldbuilding was excellent. Simon's rescue was downplayed, but we've read about it in Destiny. More exciting was the mystery of who put the Elementas up to the marriage. And if there would be an at altar "I object". The reason for the marriage was absolutely mindblowing. I have the original Crofton books downloaded. But I'm enjoying the paranormal Croftons so much and don't want to spoil that. This was a quick, well plotted read. Very enjoyable. Looking forward to more. I received an advanced copy from GRR and this is my review.
WOW! Book 1 was so great and I wasn't sure that Book 2 could draw me in the same way but it far exceeded my expectations. While we get some very hot moments between our two favorites, the politics and classism in this story are the stars. Also, it reminds all of us why exes should stay exes because Hyax and Gwil's exes are seriously the worst! Hyax and Gwil are stuck in a tough spot between love and duty, but duty has to overshadow the love that has grown between them. Hyax must marry to ensure war does not come to his people even if it means slighting the one he loves. Gwil is a devoted vampire to his fae love and is willing to be the "beloved of the prince" simply because they were made for one another. As all of this fae political strife is occurring, our favorite detective couple, Hyax and Gwil must work together with a newly formed mixed paranormal couple, one of whom is now missing and suspected kidnapped. Once it is determined that the prince was indeed kidnapped and the creature involved it is a race to ensure his safe return as the consequences are many for leaving him in the hands of evil. We meet some new players in this world and we begin to understand that not all things, both positive and negative are as they seem. This story has twists and turns and many layers but the action is still second fiddle to the connection and passion between Hyax and Gwil. Their love now is a bit unconventional and there are now additional obstacles in the way of their success but in their case love never fails.
4.25/5 This got off to a bit of a slow start for me, I think because I don’t have most of the high vampires figured out (too many names) and I really don’t like how they treat people (a lot of them are high-handed jerks, lol), so there were lots of names and interactions that didn’t really resonate with me. I have not read most of the Dark Earl series, so I was coming at this book without any of that info. I thought it stood up well on its own with the possible exception of that inundation of characters (or it might have been me just not patient enough to learn them all).
I’m also not a big fan of political machinations, but I appreciated that Hyax and Gwill actually discussed things like adults and came to an unconventional understanding. They really did make something good out of a not-great situation.
There’s a fair bit of power imbalance in their relationship, but I really liked how Hyax was always willing to demonstrate Gwill’s importance to him (both privately and publicly). I enjoyed the search for the prince when the whole group of people were working together. (I’m a fan of the equivalent of friends on a quest.) It was fun to see the shift in Hyax’s mother—it made her a much more complicated and likeable character. Oh, and Copperpipe always entertains me! I hope he gets lots of biscuits, lol.
As a final note, I’m not sure if this is fixed in the final version or not, but there are a great many comma splices and the occasional other grammatical error.
I received an ARC from GRR. This is my honest review.
🧝🏻♂️🧛🏻♂️Hyax & Gwil's adventures continue in this intriguing book🔎👑
i honestly had a hard time putting this book down, the writing & the flow of the storyline just really got me hooked! there were two mysteries/crime solving going on basically with some undercover operation, plus some (external) relationships drama happening during all that so it was pretty action-packed to keep me on the edge of my seat. also, i was so glad the relationship conflict was external without any messy feelings or breakup between the MCS!
despite my overall enjoyment, i felt like there was something missing, still. something that i've kinda been missing since book one, regarding the MCs' relationship. i love Hyax & Gwil, they're interesting, lovable characters & i like them as a couple. & i was actually happy there were more possessive loving vibes in this book! but i'm missing some more chemistry between them - and i'm not even thinking sexual chemistry but more on the love side.. i guess i just want to feel their connection/love for each other more, instead of just being told about it yk? c,:
that was a bit of a rant at the end haha.. i do enjoy this series & the author's writing style, and i still have hope for the upcoming books in this series🤞🥰 i should also probably check out some of the interconnected books by this author..👀
» i appreciate the ARC i received from the author via GRR! these are my genuine (& chaotic) thoughts «
I love this series, and Gwil and Hyax’s latest case doesn’t disappoint. I enjoyed the cross over with the author’s Dark Earl series, which I still need to read, and how all the characters worked together to solve the case and rescue Prince Simon.
I love Gwil and Hyax together. Their love for each other is obvious, and their banter fun. The plot with Hyax’s arranged marriage progresses further in this story, and I hope it resolves soon, although we now know who is behind it.
The least said about that particular character, the better. I hope he gets what’s coming to him, and I can’t help but wonder what Sebastian, Solivatus, and the other dark vampires are up to in regard to it.
I loved the undercover mission and everything behind it. Very clever!
I love Gwil’s sister, Penelope, and wouldn’t want to get on her wrong side. Hyax’s mother grew on me in this story too. Hyax’s cat was a highlight as was Midnight.
And of course, Copperpipe is the main reason for reading, right? Lol
Gwil and Hyax return in Searching for the Prince. This time they are asked to help locate a fae prince who disappeared, leaving no clue. Gwil’s sire is the one asking for help and he cannot refuse. At the same time, Hyax’s family insist he must go through with an arranged marriage. The marriage to Metra, his ex, would unite the two families, Tasharick and Elementa, and prevent future hostilities. Twists, turns and surprises keep coming as the investigation proceeds, testing them every step of the way.
These two together are incredible. Their relationship is filled with love, trust and determination. A touch of humor is thrown in as well. When the motives were finally discovered, it was a bit of a surprise. I highly recommend this series. I hope there are many more in the future. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
So I actually didn't read much of the book so I can't say anything about the plot. But I read the first book and so when the things about hyax's forced marriage seemed serious, i skipped ahead to see if it will actually happen. THE PAIN that hit when i saw that it did was real.I don't care if it's just on paper. It's still forced and horrible. Gwil deserves to be married to the man he loves, not just be the glorified side piece just because of his status. I feel bad for hyax because he's the one forced to marry someone else but Gwil literally had to become a side piece to be with the one he loved. The one he loved for years and just got yo be with.I HATE everything about that and i wish i just didn't notice there was a second book so i could pretend they got married at one point. That's sad because i was excited to read the next book but now i have to drop it from the start :(.

This second book in the Fang and Fae series is a fun romp through Vampire and Fae society with a side of dodgy exes. Following on from book one and told parallel to Destiny (Dark Earls, book 2) it partially retells this story from the POV of Gwil and Hyax. I like this alternative world Cohen has built with characters from the original Crofton series. It's fun to see the characters in a different light. As well as the rescue of Simon, there is the problem of Hyax's upcoming forced marriage to his cheating ex to deal with. The story is engaging and well told. The characters are engaging. I would give 5 stars for the story, but once again this book is let down by the editing and is littered with spelling mistakes and continuity errors. Shame really as it could have been great.
Gwil and Hyax are still great together. I wasn't really interested in the mystery but I'm glad that is covered in more detail in another book, which I've already read and mostly forgotten about. The marriage: I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I received an ARC of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review. angst 3/5 heat 2/5 story 4/5 POV dual
Our two pinning bff’s have finally admitted their love and committed themselves, but it’s not that easy when you’re a prince with a vampire without connections. Unless you help solve a case.
Gwil and Hyax and a lot of fun, especially when they a snarking, but they also make a great team.
This has some political intrigue, royal fae traditions,, mysteries, and some interesting bonded magic. I’m certainly committed to finding out where the underlying plots and characters lead.
I enjoyed reading this addition to the series. There is excitement, romance, spice, political intrigue and humour, all of which make the story very entertaining. The characters are all so interesting and well developed, and the world building is second to none and exceptionally detailed. Hyax and Gwil are great together, and they're likeable characters. I'm not sure why anyone would go to all that trouble for such a sham of a marriage knowing it wouldn't last; that seemed a little bit out there for me and quite groundless. Aside from that, I enjoyed the mystery that the partners needed to solve, and the way in which they went about doing that. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Hyax and Gwil continue thier adventures. Ivrealky live the 2 if them together though i did have a few times where i wanted to head smack Hyax. This book has a bunch of crossover with Destiny in the Dark Duke series, including some scenes told from different perspectives in the different books. I don't know that it matters which you read first but you will get a much more rounded story by reading both. So without giving too much away for two books, I will say that Gwil and Hyax have multiple mysteries to handle not least of which is how their relationship is going to work and some questions that may be answered in the next book?
I would like to thank GRR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
I'm really sad that Searching for the Prince just didn't work for me. The narrative had no lift or any trace of that dynamic spark I'd loved in Dark Earls and especially in Book 1 of this Fang and Fae series. This read was a dry march from beginning to end, and I think the bevy of unlikeable characters, the loveless "arranged marriage" trope, and the snide or blasé remarks with no real supportive vibe behind Gwil just got on my nerves. So, suffice it to say, this was a miss for me. I will continue with this series because I AM a fan of Rebecca Cohen...I'm just NOT a fan of this.
For Gwill and Hyax there appears to be no rest as they work to solve mysteries and deal with the machinations of the fae court. It is good that they are so well bonded so that as they go about their business their relationship is not jeopardized. It stinks that Hyax's family is still trying to push him towards an arranged marriage. But it was good that despite having to work around the mystery of the missing fae prince and the forces keeping them from being together officially, they seemed to stay on solid ground. I really liked this and look forward to reading more. I received an ARC from GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ok this one hurts my heart a little. I love Gwill and Hyax and the political crap they have to go through in this one really hurts. I love how solid their relationship is and how there is no question about whether or not they will stand by each other, no matter what. It’s a good story but I really don’t like the machinations of the fae court and can’t give this the stars that the characters kinda deserve. They are together and in love but not officially and it stinks. I hope there are more in this series because the people behind the machinations really need to pay for it.
A little bit worried with the progress of Hyax here despite the whole thing with Gwil being the Prince's Beloved and that . Also this story seems to be strongly connected with another universe from Cohen somehow, which also made me worried because of a number of characters that appeared and I didn't know ANYTHING about them.
But I'm still curious about the real political angle behind the and I actually am looking forward to Hyax . So I think I'll stick around for the next book.
I really enjoyed this addition to the Fang and Fae series. Hyax and Gwil are such a great couple, and I love the way they stay strong together in spite of Hyax's family trying to break them up and continuing to press Hyax to accept an arranged marriage. While resisting this pressure, the duo are also tasked with finding a missing Fae prince. The mission comes with mystery, twists and turns, but also love, communication and some humor. I loved it and look forward to more from this couple and series.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
I'm a huge mystery fan, and this series with Gwil and Hyax is a real treat. Cohen does a wonderful job of giving us a mystery that fits into this paranormal world while also hitting some favorite beats of the missing person mystery trope and showing us Gwil and Hyax trying to enjoy their relationship despite outside challenges not just from the search for the missing prince but from interfering family members who don't like the idea of this vampire, fae couple. Long may this series run.
Hyax and Gwil are the perfectly written couple. They compliment each other's strengths and weaknesses. This is an intriguing tale that advances the storyline, highlighting the trust they have in each other, and showing their heartfelt love. It has low angst, medium heat, and snark galore. I hope there are more books written with these two characters.
I really loved the first book, and I was really looking forward to this one. But, the way Gwil and Hyax’s relationship progressed was infuriating. It was so frustrating with such little pay off. Honestly, the whole thing made my stomach turn, and to be honest, the way Hyacith was written, it didn’t seem as though he cared for Gwil. If the author releases another installment I won’t be reading it.
As much as I hated how Hyax had to go through with the political marriage, I liked how in the end the Queen took to make a stance and also side with Gwil. Even though it took a bit to get there.
Also, with the random ex showing up, for the resolution, I really wish there would be more anger from Gwil, instead of just acceptance that he’s not cared.

I really enjoyed book one in the Fang and Fae series, and book two is awesome as well. This is a well paced read with characters I really liked. I'm super excited for the next read! Definitely recommend!
This is the second in the series and we are back to see what is next for Gwil and Hyax. Plenty of drama with politics causing a lot of issues with their relationship that has to be dealt with while also solving this case. Enjoyable read and looking forward to what is next.
A fae prince has gone missing and he is called into finding them but he is a vampire dating fae royalty. Parents want to break them up which is the least of his problems. He hopes his life will finally get better for him so see how it will all go for him
Our two favorite chacacters are back from book 1. they are helping in finding the stolen prince. their journey takes them down some dark paths. we see these two become closer and will they be able to a happy ending
