I've always been the pack's outcast - an omega, unwanted by my own parents and seen as worthless by everyone around me. On my eighteenth birthday, things got even my mate, the alpha heir, cruelly rejected me and forced me into exile.
But the wilderness became my sanctuary, where I found my strength. I rose from the ashes of my past, becoming the fierce leader of a rogue pack. Now, years later, fate has brought me back to the lands that once cast me out. But I'm no longer the weak omega they remember.
This time, I’m hiding my true power, keeping my identity a secret from those who scorned me. And while most still look at me with the same disdain, there’s one unexpected exception - the mate who once broke my heart.
He’s kinder than I remember, but I won’t let myself be fooled. Falling for him again isn’t an option.
So why can’t I ignore the way he makes me feel?

This dual POV, MF paranormal romance 🐺 Fated Mates 🪻 Rejection 🐺 Strong FL 🪻 "Who did this to you?" 🐺 He Falls First 🪻 One-sided Enemies to Lovers 🐺 Touch Her and You ☠️ 🪻 Slow Burn
An easy read, slow burn story. It had a good plot but there were a lot of inconsistencies throughout that gave me pause. I didn't like that the heroine in the end decided to keep lying instead of coming clean even though she accepted the circumstances. However a second book is coming where I hope she redeems herself. I'm not sure if I will read it though as the inconveniences still bother me. Also please Authors state that it is part of series. It's really annoying when you start something as a standalone only to have no conclusion because it continues to another book.
I absolutely fell in love with this book from the very start. I was so upset with Koen at the start but then started pitying him and hoping he could win her back over the entire time I read. Once I go to that cliffhanger I screamed! I can’t wait to read the second book in this series
Rejected and regretted by Louise clement starts by introducing a female werewolf enduring an upbringing of pain and suffering. This is contrasted in present day by her life as a stronger, more resilient human and wolf. Avril’s past clearly affects her decisions and actions in present day, leading to schemes, drama, and multifaceted uncertainty. An enemies to lovers romance, a coming of age story, rejected and regretted is a fast-paced albeit straightforward fantasy.
I enjoyed the complexity of the characters in that their wolf persona was separate yet intertwined with their human identity. In my experience, this is a unique portrayal and I found it gave depth to not only character development, but interactions between characters as well. However, this is where the complex aspects of the book ends. The pacing of the book was rather quick, and I feel there could have been more development and detail throughout. The storyline was very linear and repetitive. That being said, this made for an easy read that was still somewhat enjoyable. On another note, I found the progression of Avril and Koen’s relationship intriguing as they learn to trust one another, especially when we see the connections between Columbus and Kea. The book leans towards the Young Adult genre in terms of plot and flow. Think “Twilight-esque, but team Jacob”
Unfortunately, this wasn’t my kind of book. There were a lot of holes in the plot, I disliked Avril’s constant back-and-forth emotions and her constant lies, and some of the scenes felt cringey. If you’re a well-versed Romantasy reader, this may not be for you. However, if you’d like to be introduced to werewolf fantasy, something that’s quick and easy to read, this would be a good place to start.
Thank you to Louise Clement for allowing me to be an ARC reader. This is an honest and voluntary review
If you’re looking for a light quick read and like werewolves this may be the book for you.
I’ve read a lot of werewolf stories and this sounded promising but it was just ok. With every chapter I was hoping for more which made me want to keep reading anticipating it will get better.
I really struggled to connect to Avril, throughout the story she was portrayed as an omega who turned into this powerful alpha wolf but she never showed this at all which was disappointing. There wasn’t much action and it was very repetitive, I found myself skimming the pages, not much happened until like the last 10% where she completed her mission which took forever, and you still don’t know what makes the Azure pack so powerful, and what abilities they may posses. I just didn’t get it im sorry 😔
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC ✨
So this book isn't terrible. Like, I did finish, but there’s no way I'm reading the whole series. The MMC was a sweetie. The FMC was an insecure liar. It was, overall, poorly paced and I felt like the whole book was just the FMC trying to justify her inability to forgive in the face of obvious remorse, adoration, and gallantry…
I really wanted to like this story. I even disregarded the rating and reviews because sometimes, what someone may not like, someone else will. I should have taken the reviews more seriously. This story was a huge flop and didn’t even come close to delivering what it leads you to expect.
The MFC was not a strong female lead. She lies a lot. The whole storyline didn’t even make sense. She’s rejected and is now a supposedly strong alpha. For some reason it has to be her (the alpha), the beta, AND the gamma that goes back to her old pack. Why is she not leaving at least one of them (high rank leadership) to stay at the pack? Why is she even going?? She was banished and her old pack all hated her. She could have sent anyone else. She used that very excuse - that her alpha (her) wanted her to go as a representative. Obviously the alpha (her ex-mate) accepted non-ranked representatives to visit his pack when he welcomed them. Their purpose for going was because they needed an urn full of ashes. Instead of asking for the urn when offering an alliance between the two packs, they decide the best way to go about it is to snoop. Seriously, all they have to do is ASK for the urn. For some reason it’s normal that she and her unit just hang out and wander all around on their own - without chaperones- for WEEKS! This isn’t just some quick visit and, again, I want to point out that it’s her, her beta, and her gamma. All those weeks and her own pack is left without high-ranking leadership.
Her maturity was off as well. It’s hard to believe that she’s 23. She had to grow up quick living a life as an abandoned and abused omega. I would say that she behaved more like my 14 yr old. She felt that she had to act like a scared submissive omega by allowing her old pack mates to bully (verbally and physically) her so no one could know that she was an alpha. She knows that omegas are treated better in most other packs and she roughed it by surviving in rogue territory. It wouldn’t come as a surprise that she’s changed and stands up for herself now.
She has an odd thought, for her being an alpha. She was supposed to be snooping and she got caught by one of the maids. She said that when she updated her beta and gamma, that at least they didn’t seem upset with her that she failed in her last snooping mission. She’s the alpha, not some rookie joining up with a team of experts. Alphas are arrogant and dominate. They don’t like to be questioned or disrespected. She’s said several times that she and her wolf did not like the disrespect that they were given by their old pack mates - so it can’t be argued that her alpha traits are different.
All of her lying was driving me nuts. Overall, I really hated her character. I had originally been okay with knowing that this leaves the readers on a cliffhanger because I could go straight to the next book. I made dinner after I finished this book and decided to think about it before I left a review - because I will sometimes change my opinion on a book after I’ve thought about it for a bit. Nope. My only overall thought to sum up this book is that these last 6 hours (since I started to read this book) are 6 hours I will never get back.
This is a slow burn, dual pov paranormal shifter romance that had me hooked from chapter 1. Avril was tossed out of the pack by her mate’s father at just 18, discovering a secret about herself when she was able to quickly join another pack. Driven by revenge, Avril returns to the estranged pack under cover and ends up getting more than she bargained for. Will she reunite with her fated mate or have the crimes against her left her too damaged to reconcile?
The strong FMC, the kindness of the MMC, the world-building, the slow burn, and such detailed descriptions that made me feel like I was in the forest with them, all made this a great read!
This started off fast, and I immediately had questions!
As Avril spends time back in Whispering Hills, we start to slowly get answers while she fights the pull toward their Alpha. Their banter is great. - loved the pacing and the slow burn between Avril & Koen. The ending perfectly sets up book two, and I can't wait to see what additional answers it brings to light, as well as the fate of Avril & Koen's tenuous relationship...
This story is follows an FMC who is abandoned and needs to find her way. Before the abandonment so is rejected by her fated mate. This trauma and heart break leads the way into a new life. But when she must return to her past all the pain comes back. The author does a great job bringing into Avril life and emotions. Also leading the way to the will they won't they question. It's a fun and entertaining read to add to your TBR.
I really enjoyed the first book of the Ashen Wolves series. I love the tropes within the story and if you love as well those tropes: 🐺 Fated Mates 🪻 Rejection 🐺 Strong FL 🪻 "Who did this to you?" 🐺 He Falls First 🪻 One-sided Enemies to Lovers 🐺 Touch Her and You ☠️ 🪻 Slow Burn You will like this book. an amazing beginning. I also love the world building, feelings, and more!
This book had a lot of potential, but the fantasy element was almost not there and it dragged too long.. The mmc redeemed himself too well that i ended up actually not liking the fmc in the end, specially that the mystery behind her purpose of going back was so annoying like the author had to give us readers something! I won’t continue with the series unfortunately as I am so annoyed by the fmc.
I enjoyed this read. I had a hard time getting into it at the beginning, but it started to move faster from the middle on. Avril is an interesting character since she has to hide her true identity. This adds an interesting direction for the storyline.
I went into Rejected and Regretted thinking it would be a fun, angsty read, but it completely pulled me under and left me reeling, but here I am, emotionally compromised and completely obsessed. This book took me on a wild ride full of slow burn tension, complicated emotions, and characters that had me screaming (sometimes in frustration, sometimes in delight). Louise Clement delivered a story that’s messy, angsty, and addictive in the best way possible.
Avril Fletcher, an omega who’s been treated like she’s nothing by her pack, her family...basically everyone. And on her eighteenth birthday, things somehow get worse when her fated mate, Koen... the future alpha... rejects her. Yeah...the audacity. You feel every ounce of her heartbreak and humiliation.
But Avril? She doesn’t crumble... she builds herself back up, disappears for years, forms her own rogue pack (shoutout to the Ashen Wolves, who deserve their own series by the way), and returns as a total powerhouse. And when she crosses paths with Koen again? Whew...the tension is thick enough to cut with a knife. Their dynamic is complicated, raw, and full of unresolved feelings. Every interaction had me holding my breath, waiting for the explosion and when it comes? Yeah... brace yourself.
I wanted to hate Koen, I really did. He’s the guy who shattered Avril’s world, and yet Louise Clement went and made him layered, broody, and painfully regretful. He’s not just some alpha jerk, he’s a man grappling with past mistakes and facing the consequences of his choices. Do I forgive him? Eh... that’s complicated. But was I glued to the page every time he showed up? Absolutely.
And can we appreciate the world building? The pack politics are cutthroat, the rogue dynamics fascinating, and the overall atmosphere is rich with danger and loyalty. The Ashen Wolves, in particular, stole my heart, found family tropes get me every time, and their bond with Avril adds so much warmth to the story.
The romance is slow burn and I do mean slow. The push-pull dynamic between Avril and Koen had me screaming at the pages. One moment I was rooting for them, the next I wanted Avril to punch him in the face and sometimes I wanted to dropkick her. But that messy, complicated tension? So. Damn. Good.
I absolutely adored Avril’s glow up and emotional journey, it was absolute perfection. The complex mix of regret, longing, and anger between the leads was intense and kept me hooked. I also loved the found family vibes with the Ashen Wolves, which added so much heart to the story. And let’s not forget the slow burn romance ... it hurt ....in the best way possible, and I was living for every agonizingly tense moment.
Some of the internal angst got a bit repetitive. I get it, everyone’s sad and conflicted, but a little less wallowing wouldn’t have hurt. I also found myself craving more of the Ashen Wolves – seriously, give me their backstories! Their dynamic with Avril was such a highlight, and I wanted to dive deeper into their characters. There were also moments where I wished certain plot points had more buildup to really let the tension and stakes land harder, but overall I have high hopes for the second installment.
Rejected and Regretted is messy, emotional, and the kind of book that keeps you up with one of those “just one more chapter” lies. If you’re into angsty second chances, alpha politics, and heroines who take their power back, this book is for you... but fair warning, once you start you’re not putting it down. And when you hit that ending... yeah, you’ll be screaming right alongside me.
I was craving a rejected mate story and I dived right into this one. I loved how the Alpha of this pack, blindsided and kicked Avril's ass out the pack with no warning, leaving her to fend for her life in the wild. It was very cold how her mate (who was getting married to another woman) watched her leave without a care in the world.
It was fun watching Avril find her new pack and become alpha of that same pack.
Here's where the story turned lame. The reasoning behind Avril and her side kicks deciding to come back to the old pack (the very pack that had shit all over her her whole life and kicked her out so brutally) was vague and unanswered. And once they got back to the pack they did everything BUT look for this "secret urn" that brought them back in the first place. They screwed around in Avril's old pack for fucking EVER. I thought she had her own pack to run, but apparently they didn't need ANYBODY protecting them or leading them. She should have just stayed in her old pack, since her pack was fine running itself the entire damned time she was gone. And the whole reason Avril was mad at the mate who had rejected her, kind of disappeared because he explained he allowed his father to kick her out, because his father had threatened to MURDER her, and that was the lesser of two evils. She was still mad and unforgiving though, even though her true mate expressed his love for her and did everything in his power to make up for what had been done to her in their past. Avril was way too insecure and butt hurt to forgive and treat Koen decently.
This story had quite a few plot holes, and missed opportunities. I would have loved some OW drama from the woman Koen had married, and more of the old pack doing nefarious deeds to Avril, rather than just giving her dirty looks all the time (you know, besides the Beta who tried to kill her). The second half of this story was long and drawn out, and then left off on a total cliffy without resolving ANYTHING. And leaving Avril looking like a lying, cowardly, asshole for running away from her true mate. I'm definitely not reading the next story to find out what happens to asshole Avril and her special urn.
Rejected and Regretted is a thrilling debut from Louise Clement, blending angst, betrayal, and second-chance romance in a captivating world of wolf shifters. This slow-burn, rejected-mates story dives deep into the emotions of Avril and Koen, drawing readers into their raw and complex journey. As a fan of strong female characters, Avril’s resilience shines here—she's been mistreated and cast out but returns with undeniable strength. It’s refreshing to see her refuse to forgive Koen easily, making him work for redemption.
Clement’s world-building is impressive, with Avril finding solace and strength in the mysterious Ashen Wolves pack, where she emerges as a fierce leader. The slow burn is enhanced by glimpses of intimacy that feel earned rather than gratuitous, with emotional tension that stays high from start to finish. This dual POV narrative offers insight into Koen’s regret and longing, adding layers to his character and the bond he shares with Avril.
While it ends on a cliffhanger (the next installment isn’t out until February 2025!), it leaves you eagerly awaiting the evolution of Avril’s journey and her relationship with Koen. Rejected and Regretted is an addictive read, filled with perfectly paced drama, a powerful heroine, and a storyline that holds you captive until the very last page. If you love fated mates, enemies-to-lovers, and paranormal romance with depth and grit, this book is a must-read.

Loved this book. It's a slow burn rejected mate book and ends with a cliff hanger. Book 2 out Feb 2025.
This is the first book from this Author and I'm happy to say she has me intrigued in this story. I'm an avid reader so read the whole thing in just over 24hrs as I couldn't put it down. Its well thought out and flows easily. Warning it ends on a cliff hanger with the next book not out til Feb 2025.
It's a rejected mates story and a second chance which I enjoy reading these types of books. It's not overtly spicy there is one or two bits towards the end of the book but it enhances rather than just being pointless on every other page.
This is about Avril and Koen. She's shunned at the beginning and rejected by Koen and kicked out of her pack. She finds a place for herself within the Ashen Wolves pack, who we don't know too much about other than they are powerful but small pack just finding their feet. She has to return to her old pack for something some years later and goes back stronger and better than she left. She gives Koen a run for his money and refuses to give into the bond that still there but fractured, that keeps trying to pull them together. She makes him work for every ounce of forgiveness that's she's capable of giving him. But they don't full reconcile (hence the cliff hanger)
I have already preordered book 2 and I am hoping to have some clarity on the Ashen Pack and what exactly Avril is protecting. I will be interested to see how things develop with Koen too.
If you like a book where the rejected doesn't just instantly forgive her mate and have babies then I would highly recommend. Strong FMC which I enjoyed.
“Hate me if you must,” I whispered, taking her by surprise. “I deserve your hate. But let me at least try to be worthy of something else.”
The main character Avril sure as hell did annoy me in the beginning. But she’s written with a great balance of vulnerability and grit. You feel her pain in the early chapters, but you also watch her grow into someone who doesn’t let her past define her. Koen, on the other hand, is… complicated. At first, I hated him, and honestly, I think that’s the point. His redemption arc doesn’t feel rushed or easy—he has to earn every inch of forgiveness, and even by the end, I wasn’t entirely sure he deserved it (yet). I absolutely LOVED that we got some povs from him as well it really put more dept into the story. That tension between them drives the emotional core of the story.
“I can hate our mate for what he did, but I can’t stop loving him."
The romance is slow burn—sometimes painfully slow—but it works because you need to believe Avril’s resistance and Koen’s regret are real. The side characters, especially Avril’s pack, were a highlight for me; they added warmth and that found‑family feel I love in romantasy.
“Please, forgive me, Avril. If you do, I swear to you, I will sacrifice everyone and everything for you.”
If I had one criticism, it would be pacing. There are sections—especially Avril’s inner conflict—where it feels a little repetitive, circling the same emotional points. I do hope that we get some more background story on how Avril became a leader and on Koens past in the next book.
I highly would recommend this to someone who loves second-chance romance and slooooow burn with a touch of redemption arc!
This was my first werewolf shifter book with the rejected mates trope, and honestly, it wasn't half bad but so repetitive and predictable.
Avirl is headstrong and too stubborn for her on good. She likes to pretend she has all the answers even when "fate" is literally staring her in the face. She doesn't want to give up her anger and resentment towards Koen, so she ignores her feelings and makes constant excuses for his behavior to hold on to her "mission." Which, by the way, continues to take a backseat to the plot, leaving a massive plot of holes until the VERY VERY end of the book, which was annoying, to say the least. Anyways it gets very repetitive when she constantly goes back and forth with herswlf about her feelings and what to do about them.
Koen doesn't really give off powerful possessive Alpha honestly, more like worn out Alpha who has to perform his duties without much joy. Don't get me wrong, he shows up and protects Avirl constantly and is deadly when need to be, but he just comes off to soft. But it fits his narrative, so I'm not too mad at it. The spice was meh if that's something you're looking forward to going into this book, and the slow burn is somewhat there with a touch of yearning. Side characters are boring 😴 all in all a good start for my first rejected mates book but could've been better. I give 2.5 stars but rounded up to be nice.
The start of the Ashen Wolves series get comfortable be warned you won’t want to put it down until the last page has been turned. Avril is sweet you want to just reach in giving her a huge hug letting her know it will all work out she has been mistreated all her life by everyone in her life including the ones who are meant to love her, she dreamt all those years about finding her mate one who would love her, for her and when she turned eighteen her mate the alpha publicly rejected her the he exiled her. But what she learned after being exiled her strength lies within and becoming the leader of the rouges, she imagined but here she was a strong leader no longer the weak omega they made her believe. Koen sexy as all get out alpha who rejected his one true mate, we learn along the way that she was meant for him, but he made the biggest mistake but exiling her and learning just how strong his mate is, how beautiful she is but she really doesn’t want much to do with him or his pack to be honest. Avril she is only there for the urn once she has that she really wants nothing to do with the pack, but Koen is willing to do what he needs to win his girl, but will she give him a chance, will she give the pack a chance, or will the hurt of his rejection stick with her, and where are they headed?
I am new to the shifter genre, started off with dragons and fae. Yet, I am so thrilled to have started this genre journey, especially with this author!
The story starts off with a flashback from Avril’s past, she is a scorned outcast in her pack, who was only taken in due to an arrangement. However, shortly after her first shift she is kicked out of the pack, as the arrangement has now meant it’s completion. Her own mate, the alpha’s son, even rejected her and didn’t stand up for her. She leaves and strives to start her own path through her exile She gains amazing growth and becomes formidable! However, a new quest has her re-visiting her past and needing her to conceal her newly found strengths.
This was such an enjoyable read! I finished it in one sitting 🙈 The slow-burn keeps you turning the pages! I am used to reading long series and enjoy a slow-burn so this was *chief's kiss* You end up feeling deeply for each of the characters, especially as this is a dual POV book! I loved the interactions with her new pack mates, they respect the chain of command, but will tease her and encourage her even against her own judgment.
Yet there is a cliffhanger!?! I cannot wait to start the next book of this series to see how it will all play out!
I give this a solid 4.5/5, this was truly a great slow-burn, shifter book! You get all the feels!
I thoroughly enjoyed book 1 of the Ashen Wolves series by Louise Clement. I liked it so much that I actually read it in one day.
This book is the perfect start for a classic shifter series with a few twists thrown in.
Rejected and Regretted takes you through A roller coaster of emotions dealing with rejection, betrayal, Love, friendship, abandonment, anger, and happiness. We find ourselves in the beginning of the book learning about one of the worst moments of MFC Life followed by events that lead to a new life and empowerment. Ultimately we get to see MFC reclaim her agency and confront her past while trying to work on building a better future.
All the story, it's always really good. I found myself wishing there was a little more background information, specifically, with some of her pack members and the 5-year Time Gap. I feel like there was a great opportunity to show us how she became this strong empowered female. I'm hoping in the next book we get to see some more of her in her natural setting and learn more of the history.
This book is definitely a romance where he falls first. I recommend checking the trigger warning before reading. There is some bullying, violence & attempted sexual assault.

I really love supernatural romance tropes so when I came across this one I was excited to say the least. I loved how the spice wasn’t overwhelming and their story was a slow burn. I was able to really understand the characters personally and individually. I wish a could’ve heard a little bit more about Avril’s life before becoming Alpha; such as her parents and why they gave her up at all. The story of her past was kind of brief and I wish I had more understanding of that but either way it made me understand her more in the present. All I kept hearing about was how her old pack treated her repeatedly and learned different stories of what certain abusers did to her but I felt like I needed more from that. I loved the storyline of Koen trying to redeem himself and proving himself to her because of his past mistakes. I’m curious to see what Koen does after learning what Avril was really after. I know Avril seems happy about her choices after securing the Urn but I think she’ll be very unhappy without her mate. I hope they both can come together and work out what’s happened between and become one in the next book. I’m excited to see where this story goes. Thank Booksprout for this opportunity to review one of your books!.

This was a new author to me, but not a new genre. It was a quick, easy read, and I think good for readers that want to dip their toes into shifter romance.
If you aren’t new to the genre…this is a good, as I like to say cleanser/leader book that bridges you to your next “heavy” read. Sometimes you just need that easy, not to challenging book. This book fits that bill.
There are for sure plot holes and things that could have been better written or really in this case added. It is shy on building the backstory to really give it the guts of a heavy read that is all consuming. I do believe however, the second book, will be where all the gaps get filled. The last 10-15% of the book becomes more intriguing and speeds up in action.
Over all you have a MMC that is truly regrettable in his rejection and an FMC that is very scarred by said rejection and has a lot of personal healing to wade through. Both find themselves 5 years later as vastly different people and in much different leadership roles. Colliding together once more with hidden agendas that must be fulfilled.
Rejected and Regretted is the first story in the Ashen Wolves series. When I first read the overview for Rejected and Regretted it captured my attention right away and I knew that I had to read the book to find out what was going to happen between the two main characters of the story. After reading the book, I can say for certain that this book did NOT disappoint in anyway whatsoever. In fact, this book was a complete enjoyment and pleasure to read. Rejected and Regretted follows the journey of Avril and Koen who are well-written and exceptionally executed throughout the book. Author Louise Clement has created a fantastic paranormal romance story that isn’t like all the other paranormal romance stories that I have read over the years which is not a bad thing. In fact, I love it when a author who writes paranormal romance stories gives their books a different take compared to other authors. If you’re looking for an amazing paranormal romance book to read, then you most definitely should checkout this book. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the Ashen Wolves series.

Rejected and regretted was a brilliant introduction to a new werewolf shifter world by Louise Clément. It was packed full with vibrant world building, secrecy, betrayal, captivating characters and conflicting emotions.
Our “omega” FMC, Avril, was rejected by her fated mate and banished from her pack as soon as she came of age. Time skips forward and we see her visiting her former pack to find the location of an item of importance to her current pack. There is a lot still unknown with her and her current packs (Ashen Wolves) story thus far and I really can’t wait to delve more into that.
Our Alpha MMC Koen, as foreshadowed in the title, regrets his decision of rejecting Avril and is hopeful and grateful to have a second chance to learn and develop some sort of relationship again. I really enjoyed reading his side of things and absolutely love him as the mmc.
I also really loved how Avril doesn’t just straight up let Koen back in and instead makes him really put effort into rebuilding a partnership/friendship.
I can’t wait to see how things go in book 2 after the tense cliffhanger this story ended on.
I cannot wait to know what happens next!!! I’m only grateful that it didn’t end in a cliffhanger that was brutal because I don’t think my heart could have taken it. Koen definitely redeemed himself in my eyes and I understand why he did what he did. He is like the lone alpha wolf that you cannot dislike cause you come to understand why he made the decisions that he took, I loved reading his POV and hopefully we can read more of his point of view in book 2. I’m not gonna lie though I was kinda mad with Avril at times because I was like girl just forgive him (I’m not one for slow burn romances) lol so her indecisiveness kinda annoyed me at times but I also understand that she is wary of him because he hurt her and wasn’t there when she needed him. I can’t wait to see what the urn will do to her pack or how the story between Koen and Avril will unfold because I really loved these two together. I will definitely be reading book 2 when it comes out and can’t wait to see what happens next. I received an ARC copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
Rejected and Regretted is Book 1 of the Ashen Wolves Series & ends on a cliffhanger.
Avril is an orphaned omega, rejected by the alpha heir & exiled on her 18th birthday. She becomes the Alpha of her own rogue pack & 5 years later returns to the pack that once rejected her. She hides her identity and strength in search of something lost & reconnects with the fated mate that rejected her.
Tropes & Trigger Warnings: 🐺 Fated Mates ❤️ Slow Burn 💕 Second Chance 💥 Bulling ⛔️ Attemped Rape
I enjoy books with dual POVs. Avril hates Koen for rejecting her, but can’t help but feel the pull towards him. Koen made a choice all those years ago & regretted it.
“I would always be there for her when she needed me, because I once wasn’t, and it was the worst mistake I’d ever made. I would spend my life trying to make up for it.”
I felt a few things were left unanswered and I can’t wait to find them out in the next book!

I thoroughly enjoyed **"Rejected and Regretted,"** the first book in the Ashen Wolves series by Louise Clement. It captivated me so much that I read it in one day. This book is the perfect beginning for a classic shifter series with intriguing twists.
"Rejected and Regretted" takes you on an emotional roller coaster, exploring themes of rejection, betrayal, love, friendship, abandonment, anger, and happiness. From the start, we witness one of the most harrowing moments in the main character's life, setting the stage for her journey of empowerment and renewal. Ultimately, we see her reclaim her agency, confront her past, and strive for a better future.
The story is engaging and well-crafted, though I found myself wanting more background on her pack members and the 5-year time gap. There was potential to show her transformation into a strong, empowered female. I'm eager to see more of her story and history in the next book.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a good, comfort read for me as there were many familiar tropes and themes you would expect to find in a wolf shifter story, but enough intrigue and mystery to make it a bit different and keep me reading to the end. I really liked the way the book dropped us right into the middle of the action in the first chapter where Avril is being banished and then gave us a time leap of 5 years. That actually hooked me in and made me want to know more. It gave a real air of mystery to Avril’s background and what had happened to her and how she became the alpha to her new pack. Lots of intrigue around her pack the Azure Smoke pack which I am hoping will be revealed in the next book. I liked Avril and Keon as the main characters. I enjoyed the dynamics of their relationship and how it developed through the story. I enjoyed the fact that Avril is strong and assured on her return to her old pack but plays up to her past role and personality. The story ended on a cliffhanger and I’m looking forward to seeing how this unfolds in the next book.
