I have no words, this book was even better than I was expecting and I was expecting a lot!!
I was giggling and kicking my feet so much.. It gave me so much joy, but also pain.. It was so good!! Their banter is still unmatched, and so is the yearning!!
I fell in love with these characters the first time I met them, the very first tiktok Hannah posted. I've been here since the beginning and seeing them grow has been one of my favourite things ever.. Words will never be enough to describe how much I adore this world and its characters.
Their quest to fulfil the prophecy continues and it's as chaotic as ever. There's always mayhem when these characters are involved, but they never fail to make me laugh.
We discovered a lot and I personally loved that we got multiple POV's.
Trystan, I love him so much, my heart broke for him far too many times reading this.. I need to see him happy with Evie, causing chaos, more than anything.. I swear, if we don't get a novella or a long epilogue with them just being happy, I'm going to crash out.. He lost far too much, but seeing him slowly open himself to the feelings that were plaguing him was the pinnacle of this book.
Evie, she'll forever be one of my favorite characters ever, she brings a whole new meaning to the phrase kill them with kindness.. Seeing her drive The Villain crazy was the most fun I had in a while.. And she most definitely earned her promotion to accomplice and more. But her swallowing her feelings was truly heartbreaking, she deserves so much more.. And Trystan being the only one to see that did something to my heart!!
Tatianna and Clare are so adorable. I need them to be good..
And Kingsley, I love him so incredibly much, his chapters were my favourite.. Can't wait to see his story unfold..
I have to say, [redacted] really grew on me and him and Keeley are so fun to watch.. I need more of them.
And Bladen and Rebecka omg.. They are so darn cute!! And I loved her friendship with Evie and Tatianna in this book, it made me so happy..
Lyssa is, of course, a perfect little villain.
And to certain someones, I hope they take a long walk off a short pier.. or get pushed of a balcony..
It really was everything I wanted it to be and so much more.. There was so much anguish, as always, but this time I got so many moments I was craving since book one. * insert Kingsley holding his little sign "Finally" *
Yet, there was also moments that made me cry, one of them more than others, and betrayals I wasn't expecting.. I wasn't surprised at what happened near the end, I guessed it along the way and I have to say I'm delighted I was right. It's going to be so fun, now that everything is upside-down..
And that ending, excuse me.. How I'm to wait, I simply don't know how..
I need that next book!! I needed it yesterday tbh.. Seriously, how can I wait a year???

To say I’m disappointed is an understatement bc what was this? First off it was absolutely chaotic with 63 POV’s (okay so there wasn’t that many but you get the idea). I skimmed parts bc I was just that uninterested. While there was still plenty of fun banter and interesting storylines I couldn’t find myself fully immersed.

ৎ this was fun… but like. did we really need this book?? i loved books 1 and 2. read them back to back. had a blast. but this one? i don’t know. i still had a good time, especially in the first half. i was laughing, i was enjoying myself, everything felt chaotic in a fun way. and then halfway through i just started losing interest. it wasn’t even bad, i just… stopped caring as much. the pov switches weren’t helping either. everything felt scattered and slow. i know plot stuff happened but it didn’t feel like it. like there’s a prophecy and death magic and traitors and shit falling apart—but it still somehow felt like no one was doing anything. they were just messing around.
and okay maybe that’s partially on me for not rereading, but i was so confused sometimes. like are we seriously doing the traitor thing again?? didn’t we already go through this exact plotline in books 1 and 2?? and now in book 3 we find out who it is… kinda… and they’re just still hanging around?? and no one figured it out last book?? i don’t know, i’m kinda tired of the whole traitor mystery thing at this point. i need them to start using their brains.
i do still love the tone of this series. even when things get dark it still feels lighthearted and fun. but fun doesn’t fix bad pacing. or weird plotting. i think i just expected more from this one and didn’t really get it.

ৎ evie has never been my usual type of fmc, but i do like her in this series. she’s such a chaotic little menace and i love how this book really leaned into her villain arc. she’s become way more comfortable with violence, and i’m obsessed with how her brain just has no filter anymore. she does get annoying sometimes, especially when she’s clearly pushing just to get a reaction (bathtub scene… you know what you did), but it’s never enough to make me actually dislike her.
ৎ trystan finally got over himself and stopped spiraling over the prophecy which. good. proud of him for putting his brain cells to use. i still really like him but he was a little much last book and i’m glad he’s slightly less emo now. i like how ride or die he is for evie even when he’s trying to stay away from her. he’s just a little pathetic about her and it’s fun.
ৎ side characters were mostly fun. becky, blade, tatianna, clare—love them. kingsley continues to be one of my favorites (even if that ending made me go huh???). gideon’s fine. keeley exists. nura was just there to take up space. lyssa didn’t irritate me this time, so that’s a win. i still don’t really care about some of them though, and the pov jumping made it worse. not all of them needed page time.

𐙚⋆˚✿˖° Okay… so Accomplice to the Villain absolutely wrecked me in the best way possible 😭.
⭐️ 4.5 stars (and trust me, it would’ve been a full 5 if not for that plot twist at the end 👀).

First of all, listening to this in audio was a whole other experience. Em Eldridge’s narration? Perfect. Evie’s unhinged one-liners had me cackling in public 💀 and Trystan’s voice?? Yeah… let’s just say the slow burn finally decided to stop crawling and my ears were BLESSED 🤭. After three books of waiting, the payoff was everything.
Characters stealing the spotlight:
- Evie — my chaotic sunshine disaster queen 💖. Neurodivergent-coded, accidentally stabbing people, and still finding ways to turn weaponized scones into a power move. Iconic.
- Trystan — THIS MAN. Dark, broody, yearning out loud… his “I did not have a choice in loving her” speech? I screamed. Out loud. Marry me, sir.
- Kingsley — my shady little frog prince 🐸. Sir, you’ve been writing sneaky notes this whole time?? King behavior.
- Tatiana & Clare — the girlies deserve happiness pls, protect them at all costs.
- Amara — …fall into a ditch.
There were so many tiny moments I adored—Evie blurting her feelings 50 times before Trystan finally cracked, Kingsley holding up his sarcastic little signs, Becky + Evie’s friendship turning into pure gold. Those softer, chaotic beats are why this series feels so cozy despite all the blood, betrayals, and prophecies 😭.

First of all, listening to this in audio was a whole other experience. Em Eldridge’s narration? Perfect. Evie’s unhinged one-liners had me cackling in public 💀 and Trystan’s voice?? Yeah… let’s just say the slow burn finally decided to stop crawling and my ears were BLESSED 🤭. After three books of waiting, the payoff was everything.
Characters stealing the spotlight:
- Evie — my chaotic sunshine disaster queen 💖. Neurodivergent-coded, accidentally stabbing people, and still finding ways to turn weaponized scones into a power move. Iconic.
- Trystan — THIS MAN. Dark, broody, yearning out loud… his “I did not have a choice in loving her” speech? I screamed. Out loud. Marry me, sir.
- Kingsley — my shady little frog prince 🐸. Sir, you’ve been writing sneaky notes this whole time?? King behavior.
- Tatiana & Clare — the girlies deserve happiness pls, protect them at all costs.
- Amara — …fall into a ditch.
There were so many tiny moments I adored—Evie blurting her feelings 50 times before Trystan finally cracked, Kingsley holding up his sarcastic little signs, Becky + Evie’s friendship turning into pure gold. Those softer, chaotic beats are why this series feels so cozy despite all the blood, betrayals, and prophecies 😭.

(🌊) This started of pretty mehhh, slow and ngl a bit disappointing the angst was amazing!! But the first 50% of the book felt very messy the pacing was draggy, sloppy and the different povs switch up were awfully / messyly executed— as much as I love all the side characters there povs felt very overlapping and tbh mostly unnecessary EXCEPT GIDEON!!

(🌊) The plot like I've said before could have been more flesh out— but compaired to the previous 2 books I am finally grasping things and surprisingly very very interested and super intrigued.
The plot is definitely getting more high stakes with each book and has at the edge of my seat scared for what's to come —Things are finally clicking together and making sence . The whole destiny and prophecy thing has my stomach in knots I am absolutely terrified for the next book!

The romance felt kinda messy and slow—mostly because of all the POV switch-ups—though I’ll admit, there were plenty of angsty moments that had me swooning —but tbh I was this close to preparing myself for heartbreak. Like, I thought this was gonna be a total letdown compared to the spark that the last two books made me feel. BUT THEN. OH. MY. GOD. After that 50% mark??? It SNAPPED. It GAVE. It FED ME EVERYTHING I WANTED AND MORE. I AM OBSESSED. I CAN’T BREATHE .I AM IN LOVE. THEY ARE MY WHOLE ENTIRE HEART AND MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS. Seriously, my babies are SO PRECIOUS. The romance???I felt there love . IN. MY. BONES. IN. MY. SOUL . I was tearing up out of sheer awe because HOW ARE THEY THIS PERFECT??? eg:The ship scene in chapter 67(honestly owns my whole heart btw)—wasn’t sad in the slightest, but it was so incredibly precious and wholesome. It made me feel everything all at once; I was completely swept away in the moment. I actually had tears streaming down my cheeks, just because it was that beautiful and full of heart. And all those angry love confessions had me screaming the house down!!!
𝙏𝙍𝙔𝙎𝙏𝘼𝙉 𝙈𝘼𝙍𝙑𝘼𝙄𝙉 UGHHH THIS MANNN 🤸🏻♀️🧎🏻♀️🤸🏻♀️ he was sooo patheticly down bad for Evie in this book—the way he takes note of everything she does, is always there for her and can tell when her smile is fake. MAN literally made his enemies in mid battle sing happy birthday day to Evie *swoon* 😭🥺And Y'all HE DIDN'T HAVE A CHOICE WHEN IT CAME TO LOVING HER!!
As for 𝙀𝙫𝙞𝙚—do not underestimate her just because she is bubbly, forgiving, loving to the core and a bundle of sunshine that also will give you the worst second hand embarrassment at times—but beneath all that lies a deadly boss bish with an extremely cunning mind !!! She will litteraly smash your brains out if you say something bad about m̶y̶ her Trystan. Legit one of my fav fmc's ever!!
(🌀)𝓖𝓲𝓭𝓮𝓸𝓷+𝓚𝓮𝓮𝓵𝓮𝔂:I just need to talk about them for a moment AHHH!! I swear I felt the tension between these two brewing since the previous book, but THIS one?? OMG, I am absolutely OBSESSED. The way I devoured every single crumb of them—peak enemies-to-lovers energy!!! Their banter? The tension? Simply delicious. And now I’m over here guilty for catching the fastest crush on Gideon because HELLO?? My man is smoother than butter, and the way he cares for Keeley… 🤭🤭 I honestly flew through the first 50% of the book mostly because of these two, hehehe. My one critique? I wish certain scenes had been fleshed out more, because at times moments felt a little rushed and abit messy!!

So this time, I’m focusing only on the new faces (or the ones I forgot to gush about before)!!
√KEELEY: omgg I love her smm!!! YOU CAN JUST FEEL THE FEMININE RAGE WITHIN HER VEINS— genuinely need her povs. Her dynamic with Gideon H-O-T . Best way to discribe her is Repunzel in parellal universe. It hurts so much to know about what she's been through, I littrely wanna give her the biggest hug.
√AMARA: I hate her with passion even more than the king!! the duo shot rot in the pits of hell!!! THAT SLAP WAS SO WELL DESERVED 👏👏👏
√AUTHER: Sure, he wasn't the best father to Trystan but he definitely 10x better than 'some people' who should have been ahemmmm and he absolutely didn't deserve what happened to him I was legit crying!!!

(🌊)The plot twist twisted—like, I knew there’d be one, but I wasn’t ready for this level of insanity. This literally changes everything, yet suddenly all the pieces click—the reason Trystan’s death magic was drawn to Evie finally makes sense. I was expecting something like fated mates or a curse, but wdym… EVIE IS THE OG VILLAIN?! And the fact that they share the same dark past, they didn't even know offf?! I can’t even begin to fathom the guilt crushing Evie both of the past and the death of Auther. And for one she didn't even have a choice —she was just a baby. THE FORESHADOWING THROUGHOUT THE SERIES IS HAUNTING ME, and Trystan — TRYSTANN IS THE PRINCE—the 'hero' in the prophecy IRONIC— THE SON OF THE KINGGGG I can't process and wdym he has a true love who is not Evie —I refuse to accept that. I just know the next book is going to rip my heart into shreds.
Obviously Trystan and Evie switched roles but I have a strong feeling in my gut that there going to exchange dynamics and personality as well. OHH God the last chp flippin ruined meee —I was sobbing so bad😭😭 like just let my babies be together peacefully —DAMN YOU DESTINY!!! I neeeeeeeeeed the next book asap cuz the Cliffhanger has crushed my heart into bits!!!
Now, let’s talk about KINGSLEY—HE IS BACKKK AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!! HOW?? I NEED TO KNOW!! I have a feeling that Winne has got something to do with it mark my words there endgame !! and is he not part of the prophecy anymore ? If he is then... how? cuz Trystan is the prince now. I'm a bit confused!!

(🌊) This ruined me in the best of ways, I am still flippin spiralling!!! And neeeeeeed book 4 as much as I need air in my lungs. I was planning on giving it a 4.25⭐ - 4.75⭐ but 'that' plot twist made it a 4.5—easily can say this is a new obsession and an absolute favourite series for me! I adore all the books but 2 so far is still my favourite!!!!!

The romance felt kinda messy and slow—mostly because of all the POV switch-ups—though I’ll admit, there were plenty of angsty moments that had me swooning —but tbh I was this close to preparing myself for heartbreak. Like, I thought this was gonna be a total letdown compared to the spark that the last two books made me feel. BUT THEN. OH. MY. GOD. After that 50% mark??? It SNAPPED. It GAVE. It FED ME EVERYTHING I WANTED AND MORE. I AM OBSESSED. I CAN’T BREATHE .I AM IN LOVE. THEY ARE MY WHOLE ENTIRE HEART AND MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS. Seriously, my babies are SO PRECIOUS. The romance???I felt there love . IN. MY. BONES. IN. MY. SOUL . I was tearing up out of sheer awe because HOW ARE THEY THIS PERFECT??? eg:The ship scene in chapter 67(honestly owns my whole heart btw)—wasn’t sad in the slightest, but it was so incredibly precious and wholesome. It made me feel everything all at once; I was completely swept away in the moment. I actually had tears streaming down my cheeks, just because it was that beautiful and full of heart. And all those angry love confessions had me screaming the house down!!!
𝙏𝙍𝙔𝙎𝙏𝘼𝙉 𝙈𝘼𝙍𝙑𝘼𝙄𝙉 UGHHH THIS MANNN 🤸🏻♀️🧎🏻♀️🤸🏻♀️ he was sooo patheticly down bad for Evie in this book—the way he takes note of everything she does, is always there for her and can tell when her smile is fake. MAN literally made his enemies in mid battle sing happy birthday day to Evie *swoon* 😭🥺And Y'all HE DIDN'T HAVE A CHOICE WHEN IT CAME TO LOVING HER!!
As for 𝙀𝙫𝙞𝙚—do not underestimate her just because she is bubbly, forgiving, loving to the core and a bundle of sunshine that also will give you the worst second hand embarrassment at times—but beneath all that lies a deadly boss bish with an extremely cunning mind !!! She will litteraly smash your brains out if you say something bad about m̶y̶ her Trystan. Legit one of my fav fmc's ever!!
(🌀)𝓖𝓲𝓭𝓮𝓸𝓷+𝓚𝓮𝓮𝓵𝓮𝔂:I just need to talk about them for a moment AHHH!! I swear I felt the tension between these two brewing since the previous book, but THIS one?? OMG, I am absolutely OBSESSED. The way I devoured every single crumb of them—peak enemies-to-lovers energy!!! Their banter? The tension? Simply delicious. And now I’m over here guilty for catching the fastest crush on Gideon because HELLO?? My man is smoother than butter, and the way he cares for Keeley… 🤭🤭 I honestly flew through the first 50% of the book mostly because of these two, hehehe. My one critique? I wish certain scenes had been fleshed out more, because at times moments felt a little rushed and abit messy!!

(🌊)I absolutely adore the found family — they hold my whole heart! 🥹 In my previous review, I already shared most of my thoughts on the most of the characters, and honestly, nothing major has changed there. So this time, I’m focusing only on the new faces (or the ones I forgot to gush about before)!!
√KEELEY: omgg I love her smm!!! YOU CAN JUST FEEL THE FEMININE RAGE WITHIN HER VEINS— genuinely need her povs. Her dynamic with Gideon H-O-T . Best way to discribe her is Repunzel in parellal universe. It hurts so much to know about what she's been through, I littrely wanna give her the biggest hug.
√AMARA: I hate her with passion even more than the king!! the duo shot rot in the pits of hell!!! THAT SLAP WAS SO WELL DESERVED 👏👏👏
√AUTHER: Sure, he wasn't the best father to Trystan but he definitely 10x better than 'some people' who should have been ahemmmm and he absolutely didn't deserve what happened to him I was legit crying!!!

(🌊)The plot twist twisted—like, I knew there’d be one, but I wasn’t ready for this level of insanity. This literally changes everything, yet suddenly all the pieces click—the reason Trystan’s death magic was drawn to Evie finally makes sense. I was expecting something like fated mates or a curse, but wdym… EVIE IS THE OG VILLAIN?! And the fact that they share the same dark past, they didn't even know offf?! I can’t even begin to fathom the guilt crushing Evie both of the past and the death of Auther. And for one she didn't even have a choice —she was just a baby. THE FORESHADOWING THROUGHOUT THE SERIES IS HAUNTING ME, and Trystan — TRYSTANN IS THE PRINCE—the 'hero' in the prophecy IRONIC— THE SON OF THE KINGGGG I can't process and wdym he has a true love who is not Evie —I refuse to accept that. I just know the next book is going to rip my heart into shreds.
Obviously Trystan and Evie switched roles but I have a strong feeling in my gut that there going to exchange dynamics and personality as well. OHH God the last chp flippin ruined meee —I was sobbing so bad😭😭 like just let my babies be together peacefully —DAMN YOU DESTINY!!! I neeeeeeeeeed the next book asap cuz the Cliffhanger has crushed my heart into bits!!!
Now, let’s talk about KINGSLEY—HE IS BACKKK AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!! HOW?? I NEED TO KNOW!! I have a feeling that Winne has got something to do with it mark my words there endgame !! and is he not part of the prophecy anymore ? If he is then... how? cuz Trystan is the prince now. I'm a bit confused!!

(🌊) This ruined me in the best of ways, I am still flippin spiralling!!! And neeeeeeed book 4 as much as I need air in my lungs. I was planning on giving it a 4.25⭐ - 4.75⭐ but 'that' plot twist made it a 4.5—easily can say this is a new obsession and an absolute favourite series for me! I adore all the books but 2 so far is still my favourite!!!!!

I love this series, it seems to get better with each book. Fun, light and requires no brain power, yet the story is still compelling with loads of banter and seriousness at the same time.

First time on Goodreads that one of my book reviews has hit 50 likes — thank you so much, y’all! 🥹 I’m literally crying right now. I want this review to scream phenomenal, but I’m struggling to make that happen because… I just can’t find the right words for this book.
As I said, it was good — but not quite up to my expectations. Then again, I’m not even sure how high those expectations were to begin with. At the start, I was really struggling to remember where we left off in the second book, and it frustrated me — that’s a big reason for my mixed feelings.
This one leaned heavily into romance, which I personally enjoyed less of. If you were on the verge of crying from the slow burn in the second book, you might love it. Personally, I would’ve liked to cry a little more. I wanted more urgency, more momentum from the prophecy and overarching plot — but I can’t deny the cliffhanger left me giddy for the next book.
I also LOVE Trystan’s fierceness toward Sage. He is so damn down for her — it’s obvious to everyone except him. Sage was bold too, and I liked that. The multiple POV system grew on me after initially irritating me.
The tone? Whimsical. Serious but funny. So much goofy energy. I just wish we had explored the main plot more instead of mostly using it as a backdrop for romance. Still, Hannah Maehrer is a mastermind at crafting romances that feel tailor-made for each character — every pairing feels inevitable.

I have loved every minute of this series and the third instalment definitely did not disappoint…in fact: I HAVE NO WORDS - it was even better than I ever imagined 🥲😈🐸💖✨
The storyline follows their continued quest to fulfil the prophecy, and it is just as wacky and fun-filled as ever! Whether on-site at the mansion, or in the field, you can always expect mayhem when these characters are involved. I’m not going to say much more about the storyline as I don’t want to give ANYTHING away 🤐 but this book is laden with content!
It has been such a journey for these characters over the part few books but one thing is for sure: they have definitely not lost their charm! There is something so special about the way Hannah has written these stories. It isn’t just a magical tale. Words cannot describe the FEELING of entering into this world she has created.
The banter is incomparable. It is witty, and hilariously entertaining. Possibly even more so in this book than the previous two, as if that was possible! Furthermore, Evie has so much sass, it is pure perfection. She will forever be my favourite character in this book, but that isn’t to say there aren’t some other fantastic characters. In this book, Hannah treated us to many different POV. She executed it brilliantly, and I loved that it gave us a deeper insight into more of the characters. It definitely made me feel more connected to some of the newer characters in this series. However, I think Trystan’s (The Villain) POV was one of my favourites to read. He is such an original character. Really, there is nobody else like him. His quirks and humour are second to none. I loved watching him be driven crazy by Evie 🤭 but, I felt for him so much at the same time 🥺

I have loved every minute of this series and the third instalment definitely did not disappoint…in fact: I HAVE NO WORDS - it was even better than I ever imagined 🥲😈🐸💖✨
The storyline follows their continued quest to fulfil the prophecy, and it is just as wacky and fun-filled as ever! Whether on-site at the mansion, or in the field, you can always expect mayhem when these characters are involved. I’m not going to say much more about the storyline as I don’t want to give ANYTHING away 🤐 but this book is laden with content!
It has been such a journey for these characters over the part few books but one thing is for sure: they have definitely not lost their charm! There is something so special about the way Hannah has written these stories. It isn’t just a magical tale. Words cannot describe the FEELING of entering into this world she has created.
The banter is incomparable. It is witty, and hilariously entertaining. Possibly even more so in this book than the previous two, as if that was possible! Furthermore, Evie has so much sass, it is pure perfection. She will forever be my favourite character in this book, but that isn’t to say there aren’t some other fantastic characters. Ugggg everything about this book had just so much yearning!! When he raced to get Kingsley first, and then chucked that guy out the window so he wouldn’t get to be with Evie!! Like that wasn’t just him being jealous, it was also him protecting her from someone trying to do something like that to her when she was clearly uncomfortable 🥺. Anyway yeah, so he’s mine. The Villain leaned down and spoke quietly in Evie's ear, his voice smoky and dark. "I don't need your books." His dark gaze on her was a caress, a finger running down her cheek. "I already have it." It felt like a secret confided and a bitter confession all rolled into one.
What in the deadlands? "You already have what?"
His eyes lingered on her face, dipping to her red lips. "Inspiration." Now, why does that seemingly ordinary word suddenly sound absolutely
filthy?
Probably because he's saying it while staring at you like he wants to melt
your corset. And pathetically... it's working.
He had her. He always would.
Or was that just the concussion talking?
His dark magic swirled around them, flicking out the candles, shattering a stray ceramic chalice. "Sir, your magic?" she said sleepily as her boss carried her from the room. "Maybe someone else should take me to the healers
quarters."
"My magic doesn't matter." He was resolved in that. Evie could tell by how strongly he spoke the words, how the statement didn't seem at all emotional, just factual, pure logic in his mind. "No one touches you right now but me." She snuggled deeper into his chest, her heart beating for a different reason now as her arms clutched his neck. "I like possessive Evil Overlord. A new side to you," she said dreamily, drifting in and out of consciousness.
"Oh, Sage. If only you knew." There was too much subtext in the rough
words for her tired mind to pull apart.
Trystan had her. He had her.
But as Evie's eyes drifted shut, she sensed that this simple statement was
the gravest danger of all.
Gideon opened his mouth, and Sage speared him with a glare. "Do not suggest going to retrieve it, Gideon, or I will talk in detail about your awkward phase."
"Is he not still in it?" Keeley deadpanned.
Gideon glared at every person who laughed, so...everyone in the room.
"You don't scare me, Villain." He sneered, spitting in the direction Sage was standing in.
Trystan gripped the man's cheek with one hand, responding blandly,
"That's not a requirement for what's about to happen to you, but I caution you not to spit in her direction again unless you desire doing so without a tongue."
"I was staring at your chest," Evie blurted, her grin turning sheepish at te way his eyebrows shot to the top of his head.
"I beg your pardon?" he asked incredulously.
"I'm sorry?" Words continued rolling over her tongue, like a runaray carriage wheel. "You could stare at mine, too, if you want." What are you doing? she asked herself. Make it stop!
"To ensure we are, you know...even?"
WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
Amid her self-flagellation, her boss looked on the verge of a panic
attack.
He grabbed both her cheeks in his hands and crushed his lips back to hers.
He shut his eyes tight, the way he did when he was in pain. Trying to show her with everything he had that he loved her, too. The destiny monster may have decided their fate, but it couldn't have his mind, his thoughts, his kiss. And Trystan used all of them in that moment to show Evie he loved her more than life, more than breath... more than death. Kissing her more deeply, like he was defying the gods, defying destiny, defying everything that had ever told him he didn't deserve the precious thing he held in his hands.
He didn't need to deserve her. He was The Villain. He could take her, and
she could take him -
Evie put two fingers in her mouth and let out a whistle so loud she nearly shattered another window."I do understand that men derive enjoyment from interrupting women mid-sentence, so I'd hate to be a spoilsport, but could you all unkindly shut your traps so I may continue?"

"So generous of you, little sister. Please continue, with our apologies." Gideon beamed with pride, which Evie shouldn't enjoy but of course did anyway.
"Why?" Amara laughed, and it was entirely without grace. "It's true, isn't it? You told me that last day that you would never feel anything for your family or anyone else ever again. I took you at your word. Or perhaps villains can't be held to such high standards? I should've known the moment I found out I was pregnant with you, you'd turn out exactly like—"
"I LOVE HER!"
The room went to a deadened silence at Trystan's hard proclamation. He didn't dare look anywhere but Amara, but he could feel Sage jerking at his side.
Amara's lips parted. "You love... who?"
"Her!" He gestured in a frustrated rage to Sage, without looking at her; he couldn't. The words couldn't travel back into his mind, though. They were out there in the open now. So he continued. "Everything I vowed when you betrayed me - that I'd never feel anything again -it was all useless against her. She weakened every defense you built. The moment i met her and every day since has been irritating, confusing, stifling, frustrating, maddening, and absolute chaos. You cannot say I am incapable of caring for others. I've broken every promise I've made to myself I didn't have a choice" - his voice shook with rage and pain and longing - "in loving her."
Kingsley hopped on the table, holding up a single sign, little ball and chain
dragging behind him.

I'll write a better review later I just need to vent. HAD THIS RELEASE ON MY CALENDAR. I WAS SO EXCITED IT FINALLY RELEASED AND NOW I'M so disappointed. this book should have been the last. it draggggged the story so much and then the end was rushed for the plot twist in the last 3% of the book. like why. this could have been a 5/5 but no. this is why I'm starting to hate series. please, more books doesn't = better story. IT STINKS OF CAPITALISM. IT'S SELLING SO LETS PUSH IT UNTIL IT DOESN'T. the full story of this book felt like a filler. SAD

Still the same quirky writing and cutie characters, but I’m done with this series.
The plot was very slow in this one, so it was basically all vibes and romance. We get new perspectives which was fun and almost all have love interests that have been building since book one. Evie and the Villain progress more which was satisfying BUT there’s a mild open door scene in chapter 74 I had to skip through.
I enjoyed these enough but the content is alerting me that it’s time to stop. More f-words in here and the open door scene are my limit.

I LOVED it. This book was hilarious. I thought this was so much better than book 2 of this series (which I liked a lot, but didn't necessarily love). I was giggling, kicking my feet, and genuinely cackling out loud.
The big plot twist at the end was sooooo good. I think I predicted the smaller plot twist in the epilogue, but it left off with a good cliffhanger so not 100% sure yet.
If you liked book 1 of this series, but you were a little bored in book 2, pleaseeee continue the series and give this book a try. There's constant action in every chapter and funny banter. I love how The Villain is this blushing, awkward guy when it comes to Evie Sage. I was a little nervous because I saw reviews where people complained about all the random POVs that are added to this book (and I usually hate when authors add more POVs mid-series), but all of the additional POVs worked. I like all of the side characters a lot, and I like the side character romances that are developing.
The whole dinner party / costume party scene was so freaking funny. That entire sequence of events was a 10/10 for me.
Overall, this is such a lighthearted fantasy romantic comedy, but it's genuinely pretty clever. The fantasy story is pretty good, the romance between Trystan and Evie is my favorite, and the comedy was right up my alley.

i think it’s time to accept i’m in a slump and am deciding to take a break from reading :/ it makes me sad but i don’t want to miss out on books i could really enjoy because i’m forcing myself to read. hopefully it doesn’t last too long, but i guess we’ll see!

Rebecca is the prime example of taking on the weight of the world, also the prime example of a extreme rule follower. Tho I feel like Rebecca’s story is overlooked, not the backstory, her current story.
