From bestselling author Monica Murphy comes a sweet, sexy story about the secret crush between a college QB and his teammate’s sister, and the obvious chemistry that keeps them in the huddle.

Sienna

I’ve had a thing for Gavin Maddox ever since I was a freshman, but it’s a mission doomed to fail. Of all the guys I could have picked on campus, I had to go too far with the quarterback, my brother’s best friend.

We’ve spent the last two years avoiding each other. It’s not that easy when you have the same friends, not to mention I can’t forget the way it felt to be with him. But I can be civil. Polite. Detached.

I think…

Gavin

Sienna Cooper is off limits—except for that one time. I can’t forget it, but I need to forget her if I want to keep my head in the game. This is my senior year and, more importantly, my last season of college football. I can’t let anything distract me.

I’ve respected Sienna’s boundaries for this long. I can do it for another year.

…Can’t I?

18+ 4 ⭐️ 3 🌶️

Monica Murphy does it again!!! This was such a fun and sexy read! Sienna has had a crush on her brother’s best friend/teammate/sexy quarterback who’s been secretly pining for her the whole time as well?! Yes please!!!

The banter, the chemistry, the sneaking around, it was all so good! The scenes between Sienna and Gavin where they would steal secret glances and touches in public, but not be able to keep their hands off each other in private were hot! 🔥 And every time Gavin would get jealous and possessive over Sienna, I was giggling and screaming for her, because my girl deserved the world! ❤️

If you enjoy a sports romance with the perfect amount of sexiness, spice, and sweetness, read this now! 🏈💙

Thank you to Monica Murphy, Valentine PR, and NetGalley for this incredible ARC!

Thank you so much Monica and Valentine Pr for this amazing opportunity 🥹

One thing about me? Imma EAT UP a Brothers Bestfriend romance.
And these two characters killed it.
The tension and the banter?! I was just waiting for something to happen each page!
The first Chapter draws you in. Both characters instantly have such a draw to eachother you feel so connected to what they want it has you giggling 🤭

Let's start talking about our girl Sienna. She's funny, whitty and knows what she WANTS. The way she constantly challenges Gavin... I just felt how strong she was.👑

Now Gavin.... oh boy. He can be such a Golden Retriever at times he has you blushing🤭 The way he matured through the book is just amazing. Man knows what he wants but took precautions too. He looks out for everyone, especially his girl 😉

This scenes in this book were 🔥🔥 Their chemistry almost left a girl on fire. Sienna is a girl who knows what she wants and will tell it as it is 😈

The book was perfectly forbidden and you got so much love out of the other characters🥹

Tropes you will find:
Brothers Bestfriend
Boy Obsessed
Forbidden Love
Jealous Possessive
Secret Hookups

This was really cute and funny and oh so hot 🥵.
The mutual pining and longing between Gavin and Sienna was delicious 👌🏻.
These two had a crush on each other for the past two years when they had a moment together that was interrupted and then they proceeded to ignore each other as much as possible mainly because Sienna is Gavin’s best friend and teammate’s, Coop, sister.
When it’s impossible to hide from their feelings any longer, they finally give in and start sneaking around.
I didn’t like how there was this two month time jump the moment they decided to be together for real, even though they were still hiding. We were robbed of the actual falling in love and unfurling of their relationship. One moment they were all sarcasm and lusty, the next Gavin is hopelessly in love and we did not see it happen!
What I did love and appreciated immensely was how mature and supportive Coop was about it when he found out! No stupid throwing his weight around and playing all protective brother!
Also, I listened to the audio and it was amazing❤️.

Play It Off is book 2 in the King of Campus series featuring Sienna and Gavin who we were introduced to in the End Game and this book didn’t disappoint. Full of angst, drama and chemistry as we learn about Sienna and Gavin’s past encounter and the reasons for their hostility. This is a brother’s best friend college football romance with a fabulous cast of characters who truly help make this story. I truly can’t wait for the next book in this wonderful series. Highly recommend! I received a complementary copy

Play It Off is the second book in Monica Murphy’s Kings of Campus series, and it’s one I’ve been eagerly anticipating. After meeting Sienna and Gavin in End Game, I couldn’t wait to dive into their story—and it did not disappoint.

Sienna, Coop’s younger sister, has always been his biggest cheerleader, never missing a single one of his games. Football runs deep in their family, and Sienna has grown up surrounded by it. But when she enrolls at the same university as her brother, she’s determined to carve out her own identity—she wants to be known as Sienna, not just “Coop’s little sister.”

She’s had a crush on Gavin for as long as she can remember, though she never believed anything would come of it… until suddenly, everything shifts. Friendship seems like the safe route, but whenever Sienna and Gavin are together, the chemistry between them is undeniable—full of simmering tension and electric passion.

Watching them fall in love was such a heartfelt experience. They share their dreams, fears, and vulnerabilities, creating an emotional bond that feels authentic and deeply moving. Gavin struggles with the reality that his best friend’s sister should be off-limits, especially during the most crucial year of his football career. No distractions are allowed—and that should include Sienna. But some things are impossible to resist.

I absolutely adored Sienna’s character—she’s sassy, independent, and unafraid to voice exactly what she wants from Gavin. Their connection is intense and genuine, and seeing both of them open up gave me all the feels.

They deserve their happily-ever-after—but the question is: at what cost?

2.5 ⭐️?? maybe??

I really wanted to like this book but sadly this wasn’t for me.
I do think this book was quick & easy to get through & maybe if you’re IN a slump it could get you out of it. I was excited about this one when I saw the tropes that were in it but I just don’t think it was executed very well.
-Brothers teammate
-Sports romance
-Forbidden love
-Boy obsessed
-Secret romance

I think my biggest issue with this book was the MMC, Gavin. I actually don’t think i’ve ever disliked a character MORE lol. He quite literally 👆🏼 her by chapter 3, which is fine. BUT MIND YOU, she’s drunk. Then it all went downhill from there. There’s an instance where he doesn’t use a condom & there’s no communication once so ever about whether she’s okay with it. He was so back & forth with her the whole book I felt like I was being gaslit. The whole relationship felt like lust with no chemistry.
The overall dialogue felt super cringy. He essentially refers to his d*ck as sausage.
Sienna was an okay character and that’s that.

I’ll definitely be giving this author another chance because I have heard great things about her other series but this one just wasn’t for me.

Review: 3.5 stars

This was a fun read for a college sports romance. Sierra has always had a crush on Gavin, the QB of her college football team and her older brother's best friend and teammate. This indirectly makes it a no-no to act on her feelings towards Gavin, especially since he is always nice to everyone. It turned out that they did have amazing chemistry when she had a little too much to drink, and he walked her back to her dorm, and they ended up making up before getting rudely interrupted.

Fast forward to 2 years later, when they start as friends despite having undeniable chemistry after pretending that the make-out session did not happen. Sierra comes from a loving family, but because of her talented older brother, she sometimes comes in as an afterthought. Because of this, she wants someone to put her first and not as an afterthought. Gavin comes from some family trauma where his father is a bully and would always put him down, and he has a submissive mother who follows along with his father. As such, he never wants to be in a relationship because he thinks he will never be good enough. Yet, they cannot help but gravitate towards each other.

The feels here were solid, with some yearning thrown in. I feel like some depth could have been added to when Sierra realizes she comes first in Gavin’s life despite school and football pressure. I also felt like the relationship stage was glossed over due to the time skip. Some edits are still needed, such as the scene in Hectors where Sierra’s hair was down, but then it was also mentioned that her hair was in a messy bun. I also felt the term “menn…” was way overused!

I did enjoy the book overall. It was a solid read, and it will unlikely be my last read from this author.

Thank you, FireFlies Distribution, for the physical arc, It is a fun one to devour in one sitting

Sports romances are some of my favorite reads, and I absolutely loved End Game, the first book in this series. It was a five-star read for me so of course I was excited to read this book.

Play It Off is a fun, flirty story between the quarterback of the university football team, and his best friend’s little sister. The forbidden element to their relationship played a huge role in the storyline, as did the spice. I prefer open-door romances, but in the case of this couple in particular, if you removed the spice, there was little connection remaining. I had a hard time connecting with the characters in general. It is a new adult book and for much of it, the characters are in the end of their college journeys (juniors & seniors), but it didn’t feel that way. The personalities and maturity levels of our MC’s felt more like 18-year-olds.

I don’t think I’ll continue with this series after this book, but that’s ok. It doesn’t take away from the fact that I really loved End Game. If you enjoy new adult, sports romances with heavy spice and the below tropes, this could be the book for you.

- Second chance romance
- Brother’s best friend
- Forbidden / secret relationship
- Football romance
- Will they / won’t they

Nothing about Play It Off was significant to me as a reader. I didn’t bond with or particularly like the characters, Sienna and Gavin, and I found the plot very similar to other football/best friend’s brother romances that I have read. Everything about this book, including the plot and the characters’ stories, felt like something I had already encountered elsewhere.

I found Gavin to be quite unlikable and his back-and-forth attitude simply annoying. I also felt there was hardly any real romance between Gavin and Sienna; they only seemed to have sexual chemistry. I was unmotivated to continue reading and even skipped the epilogue due to a lack of interest.

I was really hoping to enjoy this read, as I have liked Monica Murphy’s writing in the past, but unfortunately, I didn’t connect with this book and it wasn’t for me.

Thank you to Monica Murphy and Netgallery for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

he’s an absolute asshole loser who wants her for sex and she’s a desperate pick me with no backbone.

there’s literally no plot. they had one “deep” conversation where she confesses to wanting to own an ice cream cart??? and the rest is mediocre smut.

so fucking strange that this was released or even written.

A definite MUST READ!!! Gavin and Sienna will suck you in from start to finish. These two have the type of chemistry that could light a room on fire. Throughout the years they have attempted to keep their distance acting as if they don’t like each other but now it’s senior year and they just can’t keep denying what has always been. Absolutely LOVE these two so much! My heart shattered for Gavin every time his dad would be around. I just wanted to give him a hug. I can’t wait to see whose story we are getting next!

Sienna and Gavin's story did NOT disappoint. I loved seeing them in the first book End Game. I was so curious and it always left me wondering and wanting more.

I absolutely adored Sienna. She was so outgoing and witty. She took no sh*t and was so confident in herself and what she wants. Gavin was a golden retriever when he chose to be. He was insecure that he couldn't give Sienna what she deserved and boy did he prove us wrong. His maturity and growth showed throughout the book. Their chemistry was off the charts 🥵

Thank you NetGalley and Monica Murphy for allowing me to be an ALC of this book. This was everything I didn’t know that I needed. If you need a true brother’s best friend trope, THIS BOOK WILL SCREAM YOUR NAME!! the tension, the swoon, the everything hit just right. The fact that these two are unable to forget the moment they had 2 years ago. FINALLY after the jealousy hits and trying to deny the undeniable, the truth comes out and the rest is truly history.

Play It Off is the 2nd book in the Kings of Campus series and delivers a sweet brother's best friend, sports romance. I enjoyed the first book in the series, and it had me intrigued about the obvious crush Sienna had on the quarterback.

Sienna has had a crush on the star quarterback and her brother's best friend for a few years. They almost hooked up a couple of years ago during a drunken night for Sienna. They are in the same friend group, so they have been keeping their distance. Sienna thinks she is the only one crushing, but Gavin has also been pinning after her. He wants to stay focused on his football, and he doesn't want any distractions, but he can't stay away from Sienna anymore. They finally talk about that night and realize they are both into each other. However, they were both worried about how her brother and his friends would respond to their relationship, so they decided to keep it a secret.

This was a fast-paced and sweet read. I love all of the side characters and enjoy everyone on the team. I did think the conflict with the guy she went on the date with was not needed. It felt like it was just dropped near the end, which felt weird.

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧
This audiobook was narrated by Avery Caris and Victor Quixabas. I thought they did an amazing job bringing their chemistry and banter to life. I really enjoyed their performances.

There are so many great sports romances out there — this just isn’t one of them.

So uh… this book starts with the MMC getting the FMC drunk at a bar and basically forcing her to take him back to her dorm. Despite her being visibly drunk, he ends up in her bed — and only leaves when her roommate walks in. It’s somehow supposed to be okay because he’s her brother’s best friend and she’s had a crush on him? Yeah… instant ick.

Then there’s a two-year time jump where the FMC gives us the classic ‘I’m not like other girls’ memo line — she’s not into the attention of football players, has no real friends, talks like one of the guys… and yet also wants to hook up with the QB? Sure.

Meanwhile, the MMC is the usual bad-family, emotionally unavailable, sleeps-around type who is suddenly all about his friend’s sister cause conveniently does not “like other girls” because he wants one doesn’t throw herself at him like all the others, even though he’s just here for a good time.

Then at a random party, two years after the dorm thing, they just… decide to be friends? I didn’t stick around to find out where this was going.

DNF. This book felt like it took all the worst tropes from bad sports romances and smashed them into one.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

I've been reading a lot of sports romance this year and this will definitely be one of my favorites at the end of the year.

I've been impatiently waiting for this book since reading the first, where we met Sienna and Gavin.

I loved Sienna so much. The love she had for Gavin over the years even when he maybe didn't deserve it. He was kind of a d😁ck for th first half the book, he just kept putting his foot in his mouth and messing up.

Because of how Gavin acted in the beginning of the book, it was even sweeter when he finally realised how amazing Sienna is.

The scene when he was drunk and saying all those things about how much he loved Sienna was freaking adorable.

I will say Dollar is still my favorite. I love that man so much. I hope he gets his own book with a girl who'll appreciate him and sees what a great guy he is.

I stopped reading after the ,selling ice cream on the beach’ part. I was already disappointed in a book I was waiting to read, but this seemed so unlike something written by Monica Murphy. Gavin and Sienna deserved a better story than this juvenile nonsense.

4.6/5✨
3/5🌶️

I've waited for this book for a while and it really didn't disappoint me!💗 Super grateful to be part of Monica's team, to be able to share this beautie with you all.

Sienna is Coop's little sister, being the one who was having a little crush for one of his best friends and teammate, Gavin Maddox. They had a brif moment together in Sienna's freshman, but nothing started from that, but that only let Sienna with an emptiness in her heart, which will always make her compare other boys with him.

Gavin has tried his best not to make any moves towards Sienna, but it became nearly impossible to resist her and every wall was at risk of crumbling in his senior year. He was certain that once he had her, he couldn't put a stop to his feelings, being at the same time pretty jealous when it came to Sienna. But she was off limits because he was his best friend's sister and he really needed to focus on his football career, being his last year of school. But can he resist the temptation for that time remaining?

Gavin and Sienna gave me such great vibes! It was super interesting to follow their secret crush and, later on, a bit of forbidden love. They had something special about them, loving their personal stories and how fragile they seemed in those moments of uncertainty. Both of the were having a tough time: Gavin constantly being pressured by his father, who was never pleased by him, and Sienna was struggling to always be in her brother's shadow, which made her uncertain about her support in what she wanted to do.

The push and pull between them was so delicious, never knowing what to expect from them: love or hate. But all that tension made things sooo good and the result was definitely explosive!🤭

The fact that I finished reading this book in just one sitting makes it pretty obvious that I looved this story, being impossible to stop. There was never a dull moment, always happening something interesting which kept my attention at the highest level.

My Thoughts

I loved everything about Gavin and Sienna's love story!
Both are crazy attracted to each other but its forbidden as Sienna's brother Cooper is Gavin's teammate.

One night they finally give into that attraction only to be interrupted by Sienna's flat mate!!!

Now 2 years have passed and both have been avoiding each other until once again they find themselves giving into their attraction.

However, Gavin really is an idiot and tells Sienna to give him more time, only Sienna has already given him a lot of time so she thinks its better for the both of them that maybe she should move on ...

lol all I can say is you have to read to find out what happens next!

Monica has a way of writing the cutest love stories and this one was just so good!

Gavin is so silly trying to push Sienna away even though she is the only person he can be himself with. Sienna is just madly in love with him and just wish he would give into his feelings for her and give her a chance.

Overall, I loved this one and I cannot wait for book #3!!!

Thank you so much to Monica and VPR for kindly sending me an arc to read and review. This review is my own honest opinion on the book :)

When I read the first book in the series, End Game, I was so drawn to Gavin and Sienna! You could just FEEL the chemistry between them and all that tension building! I was so excited when Monica announced they’d be book 2! Their book definitely lived up to their chemistry in book 1! Gavin and Sienna just have so much between them and their chemistry is undeniable! 🔥 I loved seeing their relationship go from pining, to hooking up, to more. Their forbidden and secret romance was hot! 🥵 And then of course allllll the angst of the brother’s best friend trope - so good! I loved both Gavin and Sienna’s characters. Sienna is such a firecracker I love her sassy personality! She’s such a strong character and just has so much heart! Gavin is a secret softie which I love. He’s protective and possessive but also so down bad for Sienna and sweet to her! They were just so good together!

I listened to the ALC which is narrated by Avery Caris and Victor Quixabas. I enjoyed the audio! Thank you so much Monica and Valentine PR for an ARC and ALC! I loved this one and can’t wait to read the next book in the series! 🩵

Romantic, sweet and fast-paced.

The second book in the Kings of Campus series, Play It Off follows Sienna and Gavin. Sienna has always had a thing for Gavin, after all, he’s one of her brother’s best friends and he’s the hot, successful quarterback. But he’s off limits and it kills Sienna.

One night has the pair’s chemistry through the roof but the following day, Gavin acts like it never happened, and Sienna is left feeling gutted. Two years later, Sienna is still pining over Gavin and decides that enough is enough. She’s going to tell him how she feels and he can either decide he wants her - which they both know he does - or he can let her go, and let another guy have her.

But it’s not as easy as it seems. Gavin’s schedule is busy enough as it is and he worries adding a girlfriend to the mix will make things difficult. Not to mention, Cooper - Sienna’s brother - would kill him if he knew Gavin wanted his little sister. But on the other hand, Sienna doesn’t want to wait. Will they be able to work things out? Will Sienna finally get Gavin, the man she’s wanted her whole life?

This one was really easy to get into! Sienna was such a fun, loveable character and Gavin was so handsome, despite not being able to make up his mind! Their chemistry was scorching and I loved watching their relationship progress.

Perfect for fans of a spicy sports romance!

I love all of Monica Murphy's books, and this one, of course, was no exception.

In Play It Off, the second book in the Kings of Campus series, we find out the reason for the “animosity” between Gavin and Sienna.

The whole story is fantastic, and we are hooked from the first chapter, wanting to know what will happen next. All the tension between Gavin and Sienna is scorching hot, the secret hookups, the hidden touches, and the fleeting glances make us anxiously wait and sit on the edge of our seats, biting our nails, just salivating for the next page.

Gavin is so protective and possessive the way he looks after Sienna, it leaves us sighing, swooning, and panting.

And Sienna, what a fantastic FMC, fearless, funny, goes after what she wants, and is always challenging Gavin.

All the energy of the two, the banter, the push and pull, and the secrecy of the romance make this book H.O.T!

This is undoubtedly a must-read!

ARC READER 🤍🤍

This was my second ARC from Monica Murphy and also the second book in the series — and let me just say, I’m OBSESSED!! 🥰

First off, I love how easy Monica’s books are to fly through ✨. They’re playful, witty, and just straight-up fun to read! But at the same time, there’s always so much emotional growth and depth in her characters — and this one was no exception 💭❤️.

Okay, let’s talk about the setup:
We’ve got a college football player 🏈 (hey Gavin) who’s got a super tense, estranged relationship with his dad, and the classic good girl next door vibe (hi Sienna aka Freckles!) — oh, and she just happens to be his best friend’s sister 👀. So yeah, things are complicated. Gavin’s trying not to cross any lines with Coop, and Sienna’s out here doing some serious soul-searching post-college while trying not to let her QB crush push her to the sidelines 🫠.

The chemistry?? Off the charts. The angst?? Perfectly done. The banter?? Chef’s kiss 👌🏼.

This book was SO well written and honestly such a fun, fast-paced read — I breezed through it in no time! ⏳✨

Definitely recommend if you love football boys, forbidden vibes, and heroines who are figuring it all out 💕.

I was so excited for the second book in the Kings of Campus series, Play It Off, and Sienna and Gavin’s book did not disappoint! This is the perfect book if you’re a lover of college sports romance and best friend’s sibling trope 🤭

Sienna is a sweetheart FMC. She has been crushing on Gavin for years, but knows it’s out of reach because he’s the star QB of the school and even worse … her brother’s best friend. She’s funny and confident, and doesn’t let anyone stop her from going after what she wants! Gavin on the other hand is struggling with his feelings, and even if he is popular and loved by everyone, he can be insecure at times.

Together, these two creates some serious tension and chemistry and I simply loved following these two as they navigated college and their feelings for each other. As always, Monica knows how to write a MMC that makes you swoon and Gavin for sure made it happen several times 😮‍💨

Thank you so much Monica Murphy and Valentine PR for the arc of this book! 🩵

Sienna has had a crush on Gavin Maddox since her freshman year of college. Out of all the possible guys to be interested in, Sienna is very much obsessed with one man- Gavin Maddox. The problem? Gavin is her brother’s best friend. After a heated moment between the two of them, they’ve avoided each other as much as possible. Now, 2 years later, the tension between them is even thicker. Gavin wants the distraction of Sienna to go away, but the distraction only seems to get worse. Can Gavin and Sienna work together to ensure their happiness?

I absolutely adore Gavin and Sienna and this book was everything I needed and more. After reading the first book, i knew that the story of Sienna and Gavin would get me, and they weren’t wrong!. The tension, and sexual banter led to the most beautiful parts of their story.

I’ve just finished Play It Off by Monica Murphy, and I had an amazing time with this book. I was curious about Sienna and Gavin's relationship ever since we got glimpses of their interactions in Ever and Nico’s book. I adore sports romances—especially ones with hot football players. Add in the brother’s best friend trope, and you’ve got a recipe for the perfect romance novel.
The tension between Sienna and Gavin is both sweet and intense. I really enjoy the trope of sneaking around behind everyone's back; it always adds a fun hint of spice to the story. Monica Murphy has created a really engaging and entertaining love story, with just the right amount of spice. Her writing style is smooth and easy to read, making it hard to put the book down
I hope we get more books in the King of the Campus series ASAP!

This is only my second Monica Murphy read and it has me hooked!

This had so many tropes that I really love reading: sports romance, college romance, brother’s best friend, forbidden/hidden love..it was great! At the beginning, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the MMC, but he grew on me. I realized I was pre-judging his maturity level because of the ages I thought they were and once I shut that off, it didn’t bother me. The spice and development of their friendship/relationship was fun to read..there’s just something about the will they, won’t they aspect that just does wonders for a story. Overall, I enjoyed the story and will be checking out other books in the series.

Play It Off is book two in the series and it is Gavin and Sienna's story who we met in the previous book. Sienna has pined for Gavin for years. Her crush only grew when it seemed like he felt the same but he didn't want to compromise his friendship with her brother. I loved the witty back and forth banter between them. All the hidden touches, hidden meetings and stolen kisses are the reasons I like these storylines. It is not a matter of if they will be found out but when and whilst it didn't result in a big blowout it was the journey to get there I enjoyed. I did like that Sienna made him work a little to win her in the end because a jealous Gavin has also a passionate Gavin 🔥 A good read with just the right amount of angst and sexiness.
