By Her Command: Denton Heights Book 4

Rate this book
“By Her Command” is an erotic interracial lesbian romance containing consensual aspects of BDSM. It that finds Rowena Tate in need of a submissive who can also manage her household. It’s also the tale of Minjung Lee who is desperate to find a Domme so she won’t find herself homeless again. Trust does not come easily for either of them.

Rowena is a white Domme in her late thirties. Through experience, she has come to believe that most, if not all, submissives are selfish creatures who only want what she can provide without considering the person behind the flogger and the paycheck. Minjung is an East Asian submissive in her mid-thirties. Through experience, she has come to believe that most, if not all, Dominants are selfish creatures who go well beyond contracted limits because there is no one to tell them not to.

Despite their reservations, both are told by members of the Denton Heights BDSM community that they are a good match and lucky to have found each other. Rowena isn’t so sure. Neither is Minjung. Time will tell, won’t it?

Danielle Grainger currently resides in the southeastern USA with several pampered fur babies. Always an avid reader, she got into writing after reading several novels which she felt didn’t accurately represent the BDSM lifestyle. With so many rampant misconceptions about the lifestyle, she took a chance and crafted an admittedly idealized version of one possible experience. Dani hopes not only to entertain her readers but to enlighten and educate as well.

**Danielle Grainger**
**By Her Command: Denton Heights Book 4**
**Book 4 of 4: Denton Heights**

Madam Rowena was on the lookout for a new submissive. It had been over a year since her last relationship, and she yearned for companionship to help manage her household, allowing her to devote more time to her family business. Deeply conscious of her weight, she was determined not to let her father or family down. Women often find themselves as their harshest critics, and societal pressures only exacerbate this tendency.

Minjung had faced significant challenges in her life. Fleeing from past traumas, she had found herself in difficult situations due to associating with the wrong individuals. Now, she sought healing and kindness, yearning for love and connection.

I have a deep appreciation for this author’s work; I eagerly anticipate each new release. Her books resonate with me in a way that others do not. While they explore the BDSM lifestyle, they also convey underlying themes of sweetness, kindness, and vulnerability. The author’s stories feature remarkable character development and are beautifully crafted, deserving of greater recognition for their educational value and unique perspective.

Minjung was understandably cautious after her previous experience with a harmful dominant, whom she had mistakenly trusted as a friend. She longed for love, stability, and genuine care, which is where Madam Rowena enters the narrative. Both women have endured emotional pain, striving to reach a point where they can lower their defenses and trust one another. Instead of seeking an escape, they must learn to trust and love, ultimately discovering that they have found a safe space in one another—a person with whom they can share their secrets without fear of judgment.

This story is profoundly beautiful in countless ways. I had been experiencing a reading slump, but this book revitalized my passion for literature. The author has solidified her place among my top favorites; her works are rich and insightful, featuring exceptional character development that leaves me eagerly awaiting her next release. I have been following this series since the first installment and am now anticipating the final story, which will center around Mistress Rikki, the coffee shop owner. I have not forgotten her and hope her narrative will unfold next, bringing her the happiness she deserves.

More readers should discover this series, as it touches my heart deeply, transcending the dynamics between couples. It embodies a tenderness and love that many of us seek—a partner who embraces us for who we are, no matter our struggles, and with whom we can share our desires and pains. I love this series and cannot wait for the next book!

This book came to me at a very turbulent time and someone told me to focus and take a deep breath.
Thank you for that my friend!
While I did follow that advice, I also took the time to put everything else aside and read this wonderful story! In her books, Danielle Grainger has an inimitable way of creating vulnerable characters that make you want to immerse yourself in the story and become part of it.
At least that's how I feel.
Rowena and Minjung's story touched my little heart deeply.I didn't expect anything, even though I knew them from the previous books in the Bernadette Series and the Denton Heights Series.
They were "guest appearances" or friends as part of the Denton Heights BDSM community, but that's all.
So, apart from the few things I knew about them, my mind was blank.
Rowena's whole personality surprised me.We knew her as a strict Mistress, and now we get this strict Domme, but also a sensitive, deep person with a big heart and a huge protective instinct! That really impressed me!

Minjung, on the other hand, has a firm grip on my heart.I have a soft spot for deeply devoted subs and with her difficult past and many disappointments from previous Dommes/Doms as well as her family, she has taken me by storm!
This book once again deals with the subject of BDSM as beautifully, honestly and respectfully as I know it from Danielle Grainger's other books.
Complicated and difficult situations, problems, issues and of course characters are a big part of the story. For example, a sub isn't just a "thing" or a "slave" to be used at will and then ignored.
They are human beings who need love, light and affection to grow and become the best they can be.
Not only for herself but also for her Domme/Dom.
Rowena could be that Domme for Minjung, but their path is certainly a maze of stumbling blocks and remnants of the past that they must clear together to find each other!
But there is much more!
We meet old friends at a different time in their lives and in a different setting.
That's why it's better to start with the first book in the Denton Heights series.
It's such a beautiful story with such a fitting and unique cover! I love it!
Many thanks to the author for the ARC of this extraordinary love story!

A must read

Another fabulous book from Ms Grainger. She never disappoints
Obviously you have to read all the series to understand the other characters.
It was great learning their story of how they came together and then became one.
Some parts were heartbreaking of how some people treat others.
I’m just glad they got their HEA.
I would definitely recommend everyone to read both series’s. The love and understanding that flows through the pages is something we should all strive for.
Roll on the next one

Will make you wish you lived in Denton Heights!

I stayed up way too late to finish this book. Another wonderful read by Grainger. She always manages to craft a story that’s both steamy and insightful — her expertise really shines through with a story that features character growth for both MCs and the complexities of power exchange relationships. As always, I look forward to the next one!

This story was right up my alley and I’d love to read more like it. The BDSM dynamics were healthy and grounded which is something I always look for. I really loved Minjung’s journey and I’m glad the author didn’t rely on a full-on r*pe backstory to create depth. That choice alone made me trust the narrative more.

Rowena was great too. She was passionate thoughtful and flawed in ways that felt very real. She’s incredibly hard on herself which I connected with a lot. Her emotional growth felt genuine.

My biggest issue was the strange bisexual dynamic involving one of Rowena’s close friends. It was off-putting and didn’t need to be there. I also disliked where a lesbian submissive was paraded around naked in front of cis men. It just didn’t fit the emotional tone of the rest of the story. These sorts of details are very distressing for someone with zero attraction to men and just looking to escape from the world and read about sapphic love.

Still this book had a lot of heart and I’d recommend it to readers who want a strong emotional arc with a solid power exchange.
