When vulnerability is hard, Deep in My Feels is the perfect poetry collection to remind you that sharing your feelings is not only okay, but necessary.
Through the evocative verses of her fourteenth book of poetry, Jennae Cecelia invites readers to explore the rich tapestry of love, loss, and hope that defines the human condition as she walks with you on a journey of self-discovery and emotional liberation. Deeply vulnerable and innately honest, each poem in Deep in My Feels is a poignant reflection of life's ever-evolving roller coaster of experiences—from moments of triumph and heartache, and all the peaks and valleys in between.
Jennae Cecelia is a bestselling author and poet, recognized for her books The Sun Will Rise and So Will We and Healing For No One But Me and the viral “I met my younger self for coffee” poem. Starting in 2016, she self-published her debut book which became a #1 bestseller on Amazon. Her mission is to write words that comfort and resonate deeply with her audience. Jennae spends her time creating custom poetry for readers, turning her poems into illustrated pieces, and teaching other authors how to share their writing with the world.
This book got me feeling all sorts of things! I am happily married but it brought me back to a time in my life when I wasn’t and put words to experiences and emotions I’ve had and never named. So many poems made me teary, and nearly every poem I could think of someone that would relate to it and enjoy it. I sent multiple poems to friends as I read it. I really loved it.
I freaking adored this book!! I read it while I was on my breaks at work and I finished it in two shifts. It was so good. Some parts I almost cried at and others I laughed at. As always, here are some of my favorite quotes.
"I am fragile, but somehow it is hard to break me. Your words cut deep. But I won't let you see me bleed. I'll put on a straight face and pretend to be all right. When I am alone, the dam I have build all day will break. I was told my fragility is only for me to see. Now everyone else thinks I am stone cold and mean."
"I am the sponge absorbing everyone's pain and worries. The person they find comfort in. To let them know they aren't alone. But when they have gotten what they want, they ring me out and leave me to dry. And I am constantly giving so much while I am being drained of life."
"I wake up for the first time in days with that come-back-to-life feeling you get when the fog clears and you can think again. — Because I feel cheerful again. A feeling that was dormant now active. Happy-go-lucky go me is back. And no one knows the dark days I face because I am good at hiding away. Only to emerge when I can put a smile on my face."
I have read every single one of Jennae Cecilia’s books, and Deep in My Feels is by far her best work. From start to finish, almost every poem resonated with me in a way that her earlier collections never fully reached. She captures the entire range of emotions that come with being human: loneliness, heartbreak, healing, and ultimately finding yourself again.
What I love most about this collection is how natural it feels to move from one poem to the next. Each piece holds weight on its own, yet together they create a journey that feels complete and meaningful. I truly believe this book is the most honest and powerful writing she has ever shared.
For me this was an easy five star read. It is a book I will return to again whenever I need words that remind me I am not alone in what I am feeling.
I just finished DIMF, and no surprise, it’s beautifully written and will hit your emotions in varying ways (or transport you back in time to a place where you experienced some of these feelings.)
If you remember the “I Met My Younger Self For Coffee” trend from earlier this year…Jennae’s original poem that inspired the movement is in this book. ☕️
Congratulations to this lovely and talented human!
its a beautifully sincere compilation of poetic musings that uncover the depths of love, grief, and development. Jennae Cecelia’s expressions resonate with such openness that it seemed she was addressing my heart personally. Every poem existed independently, but collectively, they created a stunning narrative of emotional freedom and recovery. This is a book I’ll revisit—particularly when I require a soft reminder that it's acceptable to experience strong emotions
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. I had read one passage previously so I was curious. I'm really glad I did. It was very thought-provoking and I had a good cry at the end. Every young, middle aged and older woman needs to read this. And men, too.
Jennae hit me in the feels from the first poem in this book and continued to look into my soul all the way through. A fantastic read for someone at any age.
I was so excited when I found out Jennae Cecelia had a new poetry book coming out. She’s hands-down my favorite poet. 💗
Jennae has this beautiful way of putting into words the feelings and thoughts we often keep inside. Her poetry creates a safe, compassionate space for healing, reflection, and growth.
It was such a lovely surprise to get my hands on this collection three weeks early since it’s already on shelves at some Chapters locations here in Canada! 🇨🇦
I’ve loved hearing her book tour on social media and hope she comes to Canada someday. Meeting her would be a dream come true! ✨
Even more special is that this is her first traditionally published book, and I’m thrilled her work is reaching a wider audience.
When her poem “I Met My Younger Self for Coffee” went viral, my anticipation for this book only grew.
This wasn’t just a book. It was an experience of slowing down, reflecting, and giving myself permission to feel deeply. It made me feel seen, heard, and understood.
If you think poetry isn’t for you, I encourage you to give Jennae’s writing a try. It’s honest, accessible, and so relatable.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I’ll definitely be reading more. This book made me cry a couple of times and changes my perspective of my life. No one’s life is perfect, and this book showcases that beautifully and shows that healing is a powerful change in our lives. While reading it’s become one of my favorite books I’ve read this year.
