Love, love, love romance, the paranormal, hunky Highlanders with their delicious brogue and hot kilts, so Terry Spear writes about those hunky Highlanders both in medieval times and as wolves in contemporary times. Jaguar shifters too! And young adult urban fantasy. And romantic suspense.

She grew up reading mystery, adventure, mythologies from around the world, ghost stories, the paranormal, fell in love with Dracula and Wolfman, and felt they needed loving too. Everyone should have someone to love. Which means her stories always have a HEA.

Charlene and Ethan have a meet cute for the ages that leads to a beautiful love story. Yeah, there is plenty of steam between the couple but steam alone does not a love story make. Charlene and Ethan spend the first half of the book getting to know each other with normal dates and other fun outings as both human and wolf. Some of those outings may have included a slightly more dramatic turn such as those that includes berries and bears. Their love story was lovely and very sweet. You could truly see a bond being formed between the two. Although Ethan was a "retired" DEA agent, we do learn as that first half is moving along that Ethan may not be as retired as we are told. We gets hints of the case early only but things really heat up from a case standpoint adding more mystery and tension at past the midway point. Charlene and Ethan battle together and love together and find their perfect other half through both. I enjoyed the action at the beginning especially the breaking and meeting that brings them together. I loved the tension at the end. I missed a bit of action in the middle of the book. If you have read previous books in the story, you will enjoy seeing previous characters from other books.
To rate this story, I honestly would say we have a five star beginning and a five story end including the big reveal and the new friend. I would give the book a five for keeping the characters from previous stories a part of the overall arc. However, I have to doc a star for the part where action is light but know this is a personal preference. The book is worth reading and continues the story arc. For me, I need more action in the middle of the book to keep things moving but other may stay at 5 stars because I did mostly enjoy the book.

Could not put this one down - keeps you guessing til the end!

DEA agent Ethan is raiding the house looking for a suspected drug kingpin when he finds red wolf Charlene taking a shower and no drugs or crime lord! Then he goes undercover and finds she has just moved where he is going. She is a former homicide detective from Florida and wants to help him. As he is intrigued by her, that is an easy thing to agree to. But things get really confusing when there seem to be many law enforcement officers on the take as well. Who can they trust? Can they figure it out while trying to catch all the bad guys? The mating isn't A surprise as they know right away that both are interested, but the undercover work will keep you guessing until the shocking end!

The pace is fast and the tone is hopeful and intense with an action and character oriented storyline that has some steamy scenes. The characters are vivid and engaging. If you have read the some of the Heart of the Wolf series, or just the Red Wolf series, or even the Heart of the Shifter series, you will see some familiar characters! This is a fascinating story that kept me guessing until the end. Enjoy!

No one expects to meet an "interesting" someone with a gun pointed at them while they are in the shower. However that is exactly how Charlene meets DEA Special Agent Ethan because they are given the incorrect address for his team to storm in. Obviously there are no drugs (which as a wolf is easy to sniff out) as expected. Thankfully Ethan calls in his wolf pack to help clean up the damage done by his team so that the DEA team can go to the correct address and hopefully take down the criminals responsible for the deaths of his parents.

Charlene is upset about the mess because this was a rental house and she's planning on moving the next day. She never even knew a wolf pack was in the area and now she's moving. Well guess who is also moving to the same town about 3 hours away? Charlene and Ethan get to know each other while also working a case undercover to get all of the criminals responsible for the deaths of Ethan's parents.

Lots of twists and turns especially when they learn that they can't trust everyone, maybe even a wolf.

An Exciting Fast Paced Paranormal Read!

What an amazing storyline, perfect for fans who love shifter reads mixed in with suspense, danger, mystery and crimes.

I seriously could not put this book down from the moment I started the first page. I just love the banter, intrigue, danger, the twists that will keep you glued to each and every page and pack family which shines throughout the storyline.

The chemistry Ethan and Charlene share lifts the whole storyline and takes you on their journey of love and romance amidst a packed storyline of danger, excitement and a forever lasting love!

A highly recommended read!

A thrilling, fast-paced paranormal romance that’s equal parts action, danger, and sizzling chemistry! Ethan and Charlene’s meet-cute—if breaking down the wrong door can be called that—had me hooked right away. I loved how Charlene’s sharp instincts as a former homicide detective matched perfectly with Ethan’s determination as a DEA agent, making them a strong, balanced pair both in the field and in romance.

The suspense is layered with plenty of twists (and a mole that keeps the tension high), while the romance brings warmth and spark to every page. Terry Spear delivers everything I want in a shifter story—danger, loyalty, passion, and heart. A must-read for fans of paranormal romance and wolf shifter worlds!

WHAT A WOLF WANTS, book 4 of the Red Wolf series by Terry Spear

Plenty of twists and turns in DEA Special Agent Ethan Masterson’s mission to take down the drug gang that murdered his parents by raiding the wrong house and his cute meet results a bite from a red she-wolf.

The plot thickens with Masterson’s hunt for gang and trying to get on the good side of this lovely she-wolf. Sizzling chemistry crackles through the pages of WHAT A WOLF WANTS along with adrenaline-fueled danger and a surprising twist conclusion. Terry Spear is a wolf whisperer and a shifter in disguise.

A paranormal romance featuring wolf shifters. This is part of a series, but each of the books can be read separately. You will meet some of the same characters as in other books, but that doesn't spoil anything.
Our heroine was a homicide cop before she took over management of some rental properties. Our hero is a DEA agent trying to capture the gang that murdered his parents. The story is filled with danger and great characters. It grabbed me on the first page and kept me interested all the way through.
I have read lots from this author and will continue to read lots more.
I loved it.

I really enjoy this author and this story was no exception.

A fast paced story that turns on a dime and takes you somewhere you are not expecting to go. Charlene moved to the Oregon coast to get away from the sorrow of she sees everyday in Florida where she lost her family. Ethan is retiring but wants to get those that are responsible for the murders of his family. A chance encounter and wrong address bring these two together.

I appreciated the twists and turns the story takes.

I don't think I have ever read a book where wolf shifters are fighting crimes as part of the system! And this concept is so awesome because if you think about it, they will be perfect for it with their heightened senses and special skills and healing powers! So soon to be retired DEA agent Ethan and ex homicide detective Charlene are bound by their shared zeal for justice..and then some more.

It starts with a false information that leads to Ethan raiding Charlene's home for drugs. That gets cleared out fast but it initiates their connection. It's revealed that Ethan's last mission as undercover agent is in the same town where Charlene is going to start her rental business. They are both red wolves and they find falling for each other. But the mission is tricky considering the presence of some unknown mole within the department

I liked how sweet the connection was. After the initial suspenseful chapters, they spend some really quality time with each other. They got to know each other through the dates and I enjoyed the time. The wolf pack is a strong community and they are always there for each other. The suspense part almost disappears for a long time and there was a slowness in the plot until it picks up again. Ethan is definitely an alpha and I liked how Charlene was his partner, in and out of job.

I reviewed an early copy voluntarily

*Sigh* I don’t know why I keep doing this to myself. I want to like her books so bad but each one that I try severely lets me down. The concept of the book has so much potential. Based off of the description it could have been an amazing book but I fell flat for me. Honestly it could have been significantly shorter. It really dragged towards the end of the book.

Likeable characters and an interesting story. It felt as though there were too many characters, between the good guys, the bad guys, and the agents and cops who turned out to be bad guys. It got a bit confusing at times. But it all worked out well, and we got to see some favourite characters from previous books. Nice addition to the series.

Ethan Masterson is a red wolf and a DEA agent who's trying to take down a drug gang that killed his parents. But a mission in Portland, Oregon goes wrong when he storms the wrong house. Charlene Cheswick is also a red wolf and she's a former homicide detective. She's intrigued by Ethan especially the way he's trying to make things up to her. Charlene winds up helping Ethan on his case, but things get even more dangerous when they discover a mole in the organization. Now they have get the mole and the gang. In the meantime, things are heating up between them and they want to work on a happily ever after.

I've really enjoyed this series as I do all of Terry's books, and this one was no exception. It was well-written with characters who come to life as you read the book and an exciting, fast-paced plot. I was drawn into this tantalizing tale and kept hooked from beginning to end. Terry Spear is an amazing author who pens stories that'll have you wanting to believe in shifters and the paranormal. I loved this book and am looking forward to many more from Terry. I highly recommend both book and series. And I suggest you read her other books if you haven't already.

Loved this book!!! The characters are fantastic and their meet/cute is probably the most unique one I've ever read. I was immediately immersed in their story and felt invested in their getting a HEA ending.

I love the red wolf pack and loved that so many of the characters made an appearance in this novel. While this is a stand alone novel, the series is so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all. The author is on my must read authors' list.
