In the shadow of a threatening volcano, long-haul trucker Kit Garrido wakes up in her crashed big rig, unable to recall what happened or why she's suddenly in possession of someone's baby. Fiercely independent, she has to admit that perhaps this time she could use a little help.
As the threat of eruption grows, former cop Cullen Landry refuses to leave his cabin in the evacuation area, which is why he's the only one left who can help Kit escape the crumpled cab of her truck. He doesn't want to get tangled up in the mystery of the beautiful woman with an abandoned infant, but when he sees the bullet hole in the windshield and the bloody handprint on the interior, he realizes that he's in this thing, like it or not.
When two armed men with ill intent approach, the race is on to stay alive, discover the truth, and find the baby's missing mother--all while a deadly mountain rains fire from above.

“In the face of destruction, independence was a laughable goal, and it crumbled away, leaving only unruly survival instincts.”
Dana Mentink is the queen of writing stories about being prepared for the unexpected! I’m always impressed by her exploration of the mindset needed to be resilient and by her belief that survival partly depends on believing in humanity and the resilience of others.
Set against the backdrop of a geological catastrophe, Mentink explores how we are all only one decision away from a completely different life. It only takes long-haul trucker Kit Garrido one detour - one moment to help a stranger in danger - to experience the unexpected. As she finds out, nothing could have prepared her for this moment.
Do you struggle with knowing your purpose? Are you unaccustomed to relinquishing control? Have you ever been hurt so badly that you don’t think your scar will ever heal? You might enjoy this book that gently probes readers to consider God’s role in rescuing and rejuvenating. At the very least, it’ll remind you about humanity and urge you to strengthen your resilience.
“Maybe some hurts were so grievous that only God could crack open the walls and let his forgiveness bathe the hearts inside.”
Kit Garrido and Cullen Landry learn that survival means trusting each other and God…not an easy thing to do when they’re being hunted and a volcanic eruption is imminent!
Pages always turn themselves with a Dana Mentink book! I loved the thrill ride, liked her masterfully crafted characters and resonated with their struggle, and appreciated the reminders about relying on my faith.
I was gifted this 5-star book and was under no obligation to provide a review.
I received a free copy of Fire Mountain, by Dana Mentink, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book one in The Elements of Danger series. Kit is a truck driver, used to be on her own, she is awakened one day with a baby in her rig, and no memory of she has a baby. This was a really intense religious read. I really liked Kit and Cullen.
“A noise like the end of the world screamed through space and time. The violence was so intense she had to grit her teeth to keep them from slamming together.”
This is my favorite line from Fire Mountain by Dana Mentik. A handsome stranger, a female truck driver and a sweet baby affectionately named Tot are in a world of trouble. Tot’s mom is missing, presumed dead, while Cullen and Kit will do anything to keep her safe.
I didn’t know there were volcanoes in United States (aside from Hawaii). What a unique spin to an amazing adventure thriller. I loved the opposites for the grumpy and sunshine as well as breaking barriers with regard to Kit’s job. The story seamlessly pulled in both main characters backstory, while leaving me intrigued for more. My only issue was Kit’s wanting to return for her rig. There was an explanation. The explanation was mehhhh. Nothing in the world would’ve made me leave Cullen, or anyone else willing to help me make it back to normal civilization lol.
Favorite Christian quote: “You are your own judge, and you’ve decided you’re not forgiven. You. Not God.” The statement landed like an ember thrown onto a bed of parched grass. He felt the fire burning through his flimsy walls, the sweep of flames cleansing away the chaff.” This was such an amazing quote.
This was a total PAGE TURNER! I mean, how could it not be? There's the threat of an erupting volcano, a semi off the road, bloody handprints, and an abandoned baby?! UM, WOW.
When Kit decided to risk the trek in her semi with a volcano possibly blowing, you'd think that would be the biggest danger. But nope. Suddenly there's a baby in her truck, blood inside, and her precious rig, Her LIVELIHOOD, is trashed.
Thank goodness for Cullen, the handsome former cop who shows up right when everything goes sideways and jumps straight into action. Not just to help Kit, but to protect this baby too.
But who’s after the baby? Where’s the mother? And now, with Kit and Cullen running from a volcano and a killer, do they even stand a chance at surviving? Or maybe... at something more than a fear-fueled friendship?
One thing I know...when it comes to Dana, she always delivers a romantic suspense that’ll knock your socks off. My favorite part? Watching Kit and Cullen bond over a baby they barely know. Cullen might be the most attentive guy ever when it comes to that little (Tot).
Add in the fun banter, growing feelings, and yep, you definitely WANT TO READ THIS! I received a complimentary copy, this review reflects my honest opinion.
Whew. Pardon me a moment to let my tense muscles relax and to restart my breathing after the intense ride that was Fire Mountain by Dana Mentink. From the very first chapter, we are plunged into a high-stakes race against time – survival not guaranteed! Between the injuries and memory loss that Kit sustains in her accident, the bloody handprint and the baby – both of unknown origin – that Cullen finds in Kit’s truck, the guys with guns who are chasing them down, and … you know… THE VOLCANO THAT’S ABOUT TO ERUPT (and the various ‘labor pains’ to the landscape that precede such an event), I found it impossible to put this book down until I’d read the last word. I’m also not going to lie, there were some moments when I wasn’t sure who would live to see the end of this story (myself included, given how deeply immersed I was in it haha).
Cullen and Kit are a great combination of personalities, as much for the people you want to battle villains and volcanoes with as for the romantic possibilities between them (although of course I loved that part of it too). At first I thought they were complete opposites, and they are in some ways, but the longer we spent with them I realized they’re more alike than I initially believed. This balance of differences and similarities serves them well as they fight for their own lives and especially that of the little baby unexpectedly in their care. I particularly enjoyed watching one be strong for the other when strength flagged or injuries worsened or emotions overwhelmed. It’s here, I think, that relationships begin to deepen and this certainly proves true for Cullen and Kit. And on a completely shallow note, watching Cullen go into ‘daddy mode’ with precious Tot had me all a’swoon. There’s something knee-weakening and heart-melting about a rugged cowboy-cop-type holding an infant with ease, taking care of her with no complaint, and treating her with affection.
Bottom Line: Fire Mountain had me riveted to the pages and deeply invested in Cullen, Kit, and baby Tot’s battle to survive. Dana Mentink masterfully increased the tension with each new page turned, whether it was the mounting threat from the volcano breathing down their necks or the murderous men close on their tail. I hardly dared to breathe in some places and certainly couldn’t have put it down unless my own life depended on doing so. (Thankfully, no volcanoes or murderous men encroached on my reading, although a wayward meteorite briefly did.) The high-stakes danger is accompanied by a sweet romance subplot, meaningful explorations of faith, and the author’s trademark wit along with endearing characters like Archie (who totally won my heart). I am SO glad this is the start of a new series because I can’t wait to see what’s next (while hoping that Gideon’s story is coming soon). Fans of Susan May Warren, Elizabeth Goddard, and of course Dana Mentink herself need to prioritize reading Fire Mountain too!
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)
I feel like I’ve been through the wringer, pretty much like the characters in this story!
Dana Mentink took on a monumental challenge with Fire Mountain, and she successfully climbed, made it to the top, and did so with literary style.
Kit can’t remember what led to her crashing her pride and joy: her 18 wheeler that she’d scrimped and saved for. She also can’t remember how she ended up with a baby in her truck.
Cullen has become a hermit by choice. A tragedy occurred during his career in law enforcement and the guilt has him walled off and isolated from family, friends, and former coworkers.
But when he spies the wreckage and discovers Kit and Tot, he’s forced into a fight for survival, going against two formidable enemies: the mountain threatening to erupt, and the gunman determined to take back what’s his.
It’s a race for survival unlike anything I’ve read before. And it’s very atmospheric—I felt and smelled and feared everything that Cullen and Kit did, heated the rumble of the mountain, and Tot’s screams echoed in my ears.
I really fell for Archie, and you’ll know why once you’ve read the book. I received an advance copy from the publisher. I’m under no obligation and my review has not been solicited.
Wow! This is one action-packed adventure from the get go. As Mount Ember is about to blow, two strangers are brought together to protect a baby and get themselves to safety, stay alive, and avoid some bad guys. Cullen sees Kit's semi rig go off the road from his house and goes to help her but a bump on her head keeps her from remembering what happened, including how a baby got in her rig. This has great characters, whose banter is fun to hear, as they work through lots of danger and perils. Romance and faith round this out for a great read. I received a copy for the purpose of an honest review. These are my thoughts.
The pace of this book is so fast that I could not flip through my Kindle pages quickly enough! The characters are regular people who are faced with insurmountable challenges and who rise to the task, the biggest one to take care of an infant while fleeing a volcano and avoiding bad guys who want to kill all of them. Kit Garrido is a semi-truck driver who is dedicated to her business and not looking for anything except success. Cullen is fixing a roof of his cabin when he sees Kit wreck her truck, so he rushes to her aid. Thus begins the story of the two intrepid warriors against nature and evil! When Cullen discovers a baby in the living compartment of Kit’s truck, Kit is flabbergasted about how she got there, since the accident that wrecked her beloved truck also stole her memory. Discovering that the accident was a purposeful action of sabotage since a bullet hit the truck, Cullen makes it his goal to keep Kit and the baby safe from whomever is trying to harm her. I loved the way the two of them bonded with the baby whom they called “Tot” and I was totally invested in the realistic character of Archie, a veteran who is a friend of Cullen’s and who is wise and snarky, too. The race to save themselves from the volcano and from the villains is realistically portrayed, with all kinds of extra dangers along the way and problems like no shelter and limited food, along with horrible air quality due to the erupting volcano. The twists keep coming and just when I thought Cullen and company were safe, another threat arose and had my heart pumping and my pulse racing. The plot was complex with multiple layers that were expertly woven together into a satisfying conclusion. The romance is one that simmers since the hero and heroine are a little busy running for their lives and watching over Tot. This is a powerful, breathtaking story of honor and sacrifice as well as a propulsive thriller that took off like a jet plane from the first chapter and flew high for the entire book. With escalating tension and a gripping story, combined with nail-biting suspense and unique, relatable characters, this book is a real winner for me in the Best Books of 2025 category. The author did a remarkable job of including faith and the tough topic of human trafficking all while staying on course to captivate me with the active volcano and the bad guys who were nothing short of pure evil. If I could give this book more than five stars, I would because it didn’t just entertain, but it also educated and made me think about life choices and consequences. Disclaimer: I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review, and all opinions expressed are my own.
As if trying to get out of the path of a volcano explosion isn't enough, they have people shooting at them. Not only are the main characters fighting to survive, but they are also trying to keep a baby safe as well. This story was filled with action and elements of danger. I liked the strength and determination of Kit and how the two of them acknowledged and talked about they feelings they were experiencing in the moment. I did feel like the ending was a bit contrived and left me wondering how that was possible. (I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.)
From page one, Dana Mentink’s new series takes us on a fiery journey with a surprising end. FIRE MOUNTAIN (book one, Elements of Danger) delivers face-paced suspense with a slow sizzle of romance—just enough emotional depth to keep us invested in more than the chase.
THE STORY: In the shadow of a threatening volcano, long-haul trucker Kit Garrido wakes up in her crashed big rig, unable to recall what happened or why she's suddenly in possession of someone's baby. Fiercely independent, she has to admit that perhaps this time she could use a little help.

I love Dana’s use of strong female leads. The main characters are compelling, with just enough backstory and emotional complexity to keep me caring about what happens to them—not just in terms of survival, but in terms of healing and growth. The emotional tension runs parallel to the physical danger in a way that keeps things well-balanced. Can’t wait for the next book in the series. Highly recommended for Dana Mentink fans, those who enjoy a thrilling read that blends suspense, nature, and heart. Fans of romantic suspense or just love a tightly written mystery set in an unforgettable location, with a plausible faith journey will love the first book in this new series. I received an ARC from Revell and NetGalley for my honest review.
This was such a fantastic read! It grabbed me from the opening pages and it did not let go until the end! I loved so many things in the story: the library shelter, the development of the relationship between Cullen and Kit, my absolute favorite character-Archie, the excitement and danger, everything. I read a lot of suspense novels and this is one of the best I’ve read. It was such a great story!
I received this book from the publisher and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
If you’re in the mood for a fast-paced, high-stakes Christian romantic suspense, this one certainly delivers. The plot immediately throws you into danger, with a volcanic eruption, a mystery baby, and a woman with no memory trying to piece it all together. The tension never lets up, making it a definite page-turner.
That said, the romance aspect fell a bit flat for me. It leaned heavily into “trauma bonding,” / "trauma romance" with Kit and Cullen forming a connection during extreme circumstances without much time to genuinely get to know one another. Their relationship felt rushed, with a sudden kiss that didn’t feel entirely earned given how little groundwork was laid. It left me wishing we’d had a chance to see who they were outside of the crisis they were enduring and wanting them to have time to know each other outside of the trauma before jumping into a loving relationship.
Still, the action-packed storyline and the unique setting of an active volcanic zone kept me engaged. Dana Mentink knows how to write suspense and I appreciated the clean, faith-based elements woven throughout. While the romance didn’t quite hit the mark for me and didn't really stand out... this is a quick, adrenaline-fueled read for fans of survival-driven suspense reads with a light romance thread.
Thank you to Revell for providing a copy to honestly read and review. All thoughts are my own.
Fire Mountain is my favorite book by Dana Mentink. I loved the suspense, danger, and the threatening volcano. This story was a page turner. Once I started reading, I could not put the book down. The author created great characters. I found myself rooting for them (I wanted them to survive this ordeal). I enjoyed all the twists and turns that kept me at the edge of my seat (and staying up late to see how the story would end). There is romance as well. The vivid descriptions made me feel like I was there with Kit and Cullen (and Tot). I could feel their emotions as well. I enjoyed Fire Mountain from start to finish. I can tell the author did her research on volcanoes and it was interesting to learn about them. I like how faith was woven into the story. Fire Mountain is a mesmerizing story with a wrecked eighteen-wheeler, baffled about a baby, a frightening volcano, a helpful hermit, armed men, a treacherous trek, and hopeful prayers.
I’ve been reading Dena Mentink for years, so I was thrilled to hear she had a new debut coming from Revell! The moment the news broke, this story went straight onto my TBR—and let me tell you, it absolutely exceeded my high expectations.
Where do I even begin? I loved everything about this book—especially Cullen. His personality was so well-written, and the way he interacted with both Kit and baby “Tot” completely won me over. The banter between Cullen and Kit as they navigate intense, high-stakes situations was spot-on. Their chemistry was authentic, and I appreciated how their faith journeys helped each other grow and overcome their pasts. Cullen’s humor was the perfect touch, offering just the right amount of levity to balance the tension.
And speaking of tension—wow! There were so many heart-pounding scenes that had me practically holding my breath. It truly was a thrill ride from start to finish. I also have to give a special shoutout to Archie—one of the best secondary characters I’ve read in a long time. I’m so glad he was part of this story!
Fire Mountain is hands down one of the best adventure-thriller romances I’ve read in a long time—definitely a top read of 2025 for me. I really hope this turns into a series, because I would love to read Gideon’s story next!
I received a complimentary copy of this story. All opinions are my own. All. The. Stars!!
I received this book as an ARC with no expectations of a positive review. Kit was going to make this one run before Mount Ember erupted. Next thing Kit remembers is a man waking her outside her rig. She is sore and her head hurts. She has no idea how she ended up on his road. Nor does she know how a baby ended up in her rig. Join Kit, Cullen and baby "Tot" as they try to piece together how "Tot" ended up in her rig that is no longer drivable, an active volcano ready to errupt and men who are after them with no idea why. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is a must read for all suspense readers.
Dana Mentink is fast becoming one of my favorite authors since starting her books. Fire Mountain was a wild and crazy ride. Every time you turn a page, you’re literally blown away by what is going on. I was really into this book so much I didn’t want it to end.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Kit Garrido wakes up in the wreckage of her 'big rig', unable to remember what happened and unsure who to trust. She's very wary of Cullen Landry when he arrives to help her, but she soon realises that as she's injured and she can't remember her immediate past she is going to have to let him help her. Being independent is all very well, but when you've got concussion and there are bullet holes in the windscreen you can't just sit there and wait. Especially when there's a baby in the cab (Baby?! Whose? Why? When? How?) and they're on in an exclusion zone on the side of a volcano which is letting everyone know that it's going to blow...
It's just about miraculous that Cullen was still on the mountain to see Kit's crashed truck, considering that he'd already evacuated every living thing he owns, apart from himself. An ex-cop, he's capable and used to dealing with tough stuff, but things very quickly go from bad to worse with their situation, with danger looming from every direction and a very high chance of things 'going south' before they can ever find out who baby 'Tater Tot' really is, what happened to her mother, and why the violent men following are so desperate to catch up to them.
This is a full on suspense read from the opening page. The pace is frantic and barely lets up, although I did appreciate the momentary calm when Kit and Cullen meet up with Archie. Despite the high speed action we do still get to find out a good bit about our heroes, who all feel like proper, well thought out people rather than 'characters'. I liked Archie and his steadying influence too. Even in such a dire straits scenario, I did still find some elements a bit implausible, but then I have luckily never been in a volcano evacuation zone far too late in the day, while being chased by people wanting to kill me. Parts of the story are apparently based on the real-life eruption of Mount St Helens in 1980, and the book is dedicated to those who risked their lives to protect their neighbours during that event. The kinds of people who are what the author refers to as 'everyman heroes'. Her everyman heroes in this book are excellently written, and the story compelling and with a seriously deep and dark undertow which is even more threatening than the mountain, and I look forward to finding about the next when I read the second volume in the Elements of Danger series.
A thank you to @dana_mentink and Tantor Media for the #gifted audiobook!
This gripping mystery had me completely captivated from the start. The fast-paced narrative was so enthralling that I finished it in a single day!
Kit and Cullen are everyday heroes thrust into extraordinary circumstances as they navigate the perils of caring for an infant while fleeing a volcanic eruption and evading dangerous adversaries intent on their destruction. Their bond with the baby, affectionately named “Tot,” was incredibly touching and added depth to their journey.
The plot is intricately crafted, with multiple layers seamlessly intertwining to deliver a truly satisfying conclusion. The simmering romance between Kit and Cullen is beautifully developed, while Kit’s inspiring journey to faith resonates powerfully.
The narrator deserves special mention for their exceptional ability to bring the characters and their emotions to life, enhancing the overall experience.
As the inaugural book in the Elements of Danger series, I am eagerly anticipating the next installment. If you enjoy romantic suspense with a riveting backdrop, a compelling faith journey, and heart-pounding action, then you won’t want to miss this book! This book is available on July 1, 2025.
This is a very high action Christian romantic suspense. With a volcano, an FMC trucker who has amnesia, a baby, and a former cop, there’s no end to the suspense and danger. When Kit wakes up she finds that she’s been in an accident in her truck, she’s on the wrong path in a volcanic evacuation zone, and she has no memory of her day. When Cullen arrives to help her they discover that things are worse than they thought, there are bullet holes and a baby. When pursuers catch up to them they race against time with the volcano shuddering beneath them as they are struggling to stay alive from multiple unknown assailants. While this book is non stop action, I didn’t get completely engaged until the second half. I could’ve done used a bit more on the romance angle and a few character things and moments felt a little off to me. However, this was a thrilling ride and I look forward to more from this author. It was such a unique setting and I loved learning more about volcanic eruptions through it. This was a just kisses romance, intimacy level 1.
I received an ARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I have read several books by this author and I have liked them all so I was excited to read this one. The suspense and mystery started from the very beginning which helped the book read fast in spite of the long chapters. My favorite character in the book was Archie. I thought he was a great addition to the story. I also thought it was so cute the name that Cullen gave the baby. He called her Tot. This novel was so good and I cannot wait until the next book in the series. I definitely recommend this book.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. The opinions in this review are my own.
Wow, wow, WOW!!! This book was an intense roller coaster ride and I literally was holding my breath during parts! Seriously! This book has so much packed between it's two covers. The story is about Kit, a truck driver who made a split decision to change her perfectly planned agenda and help someone in need and now her life has drastically changed. She suddenly finds herself in an accident and no memeory of how she got there!
Cullen rescues Kit from her truck accident, and as he is helping her, he finds a baby strapped in her truck. Suddenly the three of them find themselves in a race for their lives because there are two human traffickers on their trail who will do anything to gwt their evidence back. Oh and did I mention that they are on a mountain/volcano that is about to explode?!? Seriously, this was one of the most intense books I've ever read and I really had a hard time putting it down. I also love that while it was intense and action packed, there were moments of humor and romance mixed in.
I give it 10 out of 5 stars (well, I would if I could!) and highly recommend it!
I was given this book to read and give my opinion- all thoughts are my own!
This page-turner packed with unrelenting action and emotionally gripping suspense hooked me from the beginning and kept me reading excitedly to the end! It is the kind of book that immerses you in the fictional world of the story and makes it feel real! Female trucker Kit, ex-cop Cullen, and precious abandoned baby "Tot" headline the wonderfully crafted cast of characters. I love these characters and admire their perseverance and courage. A skillfully portrayed genuine setting and vivid descriptions of volcanic activity and precursors are amazing and heighten the suspense and danger. Bits of humor, strategically placed, provide emotional relief amidst seemingly impossible, unescapable danger. Kit and Cullen's slowly evolving romantic relationship, that kept me rooting for a happy ending, deepens the story's emotional impact. I appreciate how the author seamlessly weaves faith into the narrative. I totally enjoyed this story and just added this book to my Best Romantic Suspense Reads Ever list! I read an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Title: Fire Mountain Author: Dana Mentink Genre: Christian, mystery/thriller Rating: 4 out of 5
The imminently erupting volcano certainly added a sense of urgency to this read! I thought this was a solid thriller, and I enjoyed it. Kit and Cullen were both good characters, and their growing relationship keep me invested---almost as much as the threat of the volcano!
(Galley courtesy of Revell in exchange for an honest review.)
Wow! This could be made into a movie. An unlikely duo team up to escape deadly terrors. Kit, the female trucker and Cullen, the former cop and current rancher meet after Kit’s big rig crashes. Plenty of non-stop action and suspense will keep the pages turning. I was given a complimentary copy of this book and the opinions are my own.
I have not read Dana Mentink's books before. I have been missing out, for romantic suspense Mentink's rising to the top quickly.
I was captured from the beginning and stayed engaged the entire book. If you love reading the romantic suspense genre, put Mentink's books on you list to read. You won't be sorry.
I have read several books by Dana Mentink in the past and found them all enjoyable... but I have to say, this one might just be the best one yet! There is something about a natural disaster that will always bring a whole new level of danger to a suspense read... and a volcano? Yes, that will certainly do it! Throw in an infant and a truck driver who has crashed and has no recollection of her picking up said infant or her mother... well, those elements of danger and suspense just keep piling up with this one! It is a story that will absolutely keep you at the edge of your seat wondering how it's all going to play out, and how these characters are going to make it out of danger. These characters were wonderfully written and effortlessly drew me into their lives and had me rooting for them. There is a hint of romance, of course, but the action and all the twists and turns definitely take center stage in this one! If you enjoy Christian romantic suspense, you'll absolutely want to add this one to your TBR!
**ARC received via Netgalley for consideration. All opinions are my own.
This is a fantastic book filled with suspense and intrigue! The setting is Mount Ember, a volcano in the throes of explosion. Lives are lost, relationships are formed and heroes emerge.
Kit is AMAZING! She's determined, strong and smart. Although she wrestles with her past, she is compassionate and protective. Cullen is also AMAZING! He's a protector, brave and strong. His past also haunts him but Kit and Tot soften his heart! Tater Tot is adorable! She's blessed to have Kit and Cullen as her rescuers.
One issue that's brought up is sex trafficking. I'll admit that I was happy when Simon and Nico got what they deserved. Thank God for police officers, detectives, and other workers who help those caught up in trafficking.
I won a complimentary copy of this book from LibraryThing via Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
If you like run-for-your-life suspense stories, you will want to read Fire Mountain by Dana Mentink. This is one of the fastest-paced suspense novels I've ever read. There is danger and action from page one. Kit Garrido wakes up from a truck crash to find a mystery man, a baby, a volcano ready to explode, and oh yeah, let's just throw in a gunman hunting them all. To top it off, Kit has no idea what happened or where the baby came from. Cullen Landry saw the wreck and steps in to help, but they have to get off the mountain. Danger is everywhere.
I loved this story! Despite the fast-paced, I was able to relate to the characters and thought the author did a great job of throwing two strangers together to fight for their lives, while keeping them real and vulnerable. It's a great mystery, disaster story, and suspense story all rolled up into one action-packed novel. Definitely move this book up on your TBR list this summer.
I received an ebook review copy of this book through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
I absolutely loved this book!! All the twists and turns!! You think you know whats happening and then something else happens!! Loved all the action, teamwork and the amount of love shown in this book! Such a great writer!! Pick this up today!! You will not be disappointed!!
"Fire Mountain" was my first time to read a Mentink novel but it certainly won't be my last. I'm a sucker for disaster movies, so I was excited to revel in a disaster book for a few days, and the author didn't disappoint. There was plenty of adventure to keep me turning the pages. It's enough to have characters running for their life to escape an about-to-erupt volcano, but add in gun-wielding maniacs and, man, it's a recipe for an edge-of-your-seat ride. There was a little of the expected romance in it, but I'm SO glad the author didn't try to bog down the story with a heavy romance that wouldn't make sense given the life-threatening situation the characters were in. The Christian threads through the story, again, were there but in a way that didn't feel forced or out of place. I'm glad to add Dana Mentink to my list of must-read authors.
NOTE: Baker Publishing provided me an advance copy of the book to read in preparation for a podcast interview with the author, so this review is posted before the publish date.
