You ever really think that you'll win the lottery? Meet Mr. Right? How about two Mr. Rights?
Somehow the universe is handing me everything I want (except for that lottery part...), and I don't like it. Not one little bit. Because just when you get all your dreams handed to you on a silver platter, that's when an airplane dumps its sewage on your house. Or your mama's diabetes takes a bad turn. Or your mobile phone gets stuck in your hoohaw.
(What? It happens…)
Boring old average me got everything I wanted already, moving from small-town Ohio to big-city Boston to follow my heart. So when the fancy invitation offering me a pile of money to come with the band, Random Acts of Crazy, to perform on an island resort and be their manager arrived, I thought it was a cosmic joke. Enough money to help my mama get what she needed, five days in sunny paradise, and a shot at greatness for the band? Unreal. One big shoe was waiting to drop. On my head.
Just like no one really ever finds a naked man wearing only a guitar standing by the side of the road hitchhiking and ends up falling in love with him and his friend and moving halfway across the country for true love, no one gets an invitation to come to what turns out to be a resort where people make what me and Joe and Trevor do together look like a chaste peck on the cheek. But...
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Julia Kent writes romantic comedy with an edge. Since 2013, she has sold more than 2 million books, with 5 New York Times bestsellers and more than 21 appearances on the USA Today bestseller list. Her books have been translated into French, German, and Italian, with more titles releasing in the future.
From billionaires to BBWs to new adult rock stars, Julia finds a sensual, goofy joy in every contemporary romance she writes. Unlike Shannon from Shopping for a Billionaire, she did not meet her husband after dropping her phone in a men's room toilet (and he isn't a billionaire in a rom com).
She also writes romantic suspense as Meli Raine, sexy shifter romances as DJ Jennings, billionaire shifters as half of the author team Diana Seere, and co-authors with Elisa Reed.
She lives in New England with her husband and three children in a household where she is the only person with the gene required to change empty toilet paper rolls.
I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
This is the third book in the Random Series. If you haven't read them yet I strongly suggest you do.
Darla, Joe, and Trevor have been making a go at a relationship for seven months now. They each receive an invitation for a "gig" at an island resort with Darla acting as their manager that seems too good to be true. Add in crazy ex girlfriends, unicorns and chickens (lol, sorry can't go into detail), and strange surroundings and you have a recipe for disaster waiting to happen.
First, let me start by saying that up to this point I considered Random Acts of Crazy as my favorite book from Julia Kent. Mainly because not only did I enjoy the storyline, but the book made me laugh hysterically. I was very excited when I read that their story would be continued in this book. Now that I've read Random Acts of Fantasy I think I might have to revise that opinion. From the very first page I was laughing and I didn't stop till the end. I absolutely loved the characters and how they developed throughout the book. I hope that we get another book about their journey in life after they leave the island.
I just finished reading this book in one day it was that good I could not put it down. My favorite characters Darla, Trevor, and Joe go through ups and down. Joe being away in college is hard on him he thought that was what he want to do to go to college for law but he's having second thoughts. Also he's missing Darla and having a sexy chick across the hall isn't helping his sex drive. Trevor is loving college but the difference is he went to school at home where Darla is. Darla is working at the dating agency for threesomes. All of them are wondering in their heads if they love each other and running it in their heads. Then all of a sudden they all get a packet to the island Eden they want Random Acts Of Crazy to perform there and they are getting paid real well and Darla is going to get paid to be their manager. Warning signs go up so they check it out and it's legit. So they go to the island and go through things you don't want to miss.
I can't give you everything but I will continue to push to have you read it. It's that good Julia Kent does it again A Must Read!!!
I am a huge fan of this author and this series is just amazing. In this book we revisit the whole crew, however the main story revolves around Joe, Trevor, and Darla. It all starts out with an invitation to play on an island. None of them have heard of this place or are sure how they found them and their information (you still don't know by the end of the book either). However with the money they are offering each of them each of them thinks of how this money could help in some way. This leads them all to accepting Amy is back in this one as well because Sam is allowed to bring a guest and the assume that she will be with him. Sam isn't letting Amy away from him for any longer than he has to so of course she will be going. What they find on the Island of Eden is a place where everyone is accepted no matter what your preference might be. All can't run smoothly for the crew or we wouldn't have a story LOL. Darla has never ridden in a plane and has a slight freak out. Joe's mysterious ex shows up and sends Joe into a panic. Trevor and Joe want Darla to know their true feelings about her but are both a little afraid of a possible rejection. There is so much that goes on in this book and I don't want to ruin any secrets. True to Julia's form you will laugh, you will want to punch someone, and you will connect with her characters and not let go. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone but you should read the random acts that come before this first just so some of the parts make sense.
MY VIEW: I have read ALL of Julia Kent's books and have loved every one of them, but none compare to Random Acts Of Fantasy. This book was hysterical with a little bit of douche bag,Crazy, and a lot of love..
Joe Trevor and Darla have been in this relationship for 7 months.......Joe is studying at Penn which is making it hard on all of them... While Darla works for her aunt at a dating agency for threesomes, Trevor goes to school... Trevor convinced Darla to apply for classes at Harvard...... They are going about their life's when they get the invitation to Eden......
If it looks too good to be true, Usually it is... Not in this case!!!!! When they find out Eden is a legit gig they board the plane to Eden!......
While in Eden they learn that it is not your normal Resort.... They also run into some trouble while they are there..... Joe's past makes an appearance and its not a very good or happy thing.....
I absolutely love this book I read it in a day!!!!!
I am excited for the next book that Julia Kent will release!!!
ARC provided by author for an honest review and I'm going to be honest.
The people who have read the previous books from RA are well aware of the author's unique writing style: a mix of crazy and funny. I think that this time the mixture was more towards the former than the latest. It felt like everyone was on drugs - ok, so at some point some of them were but seriously I couldn't tell the difference from how they normally acted! The most sane thing about the whole plot was the island! It felt perfectly fine and normal! The story felt like it was dragging during the first half. I mean, half way throughout and they are still at the airport??? The only thing that had happened before was them getting their letters!!! And then after that it felt rushed. There wasn't any real development between Joe, Darla and Trevor besides them admitting their feelings and finally having DP! And even this felt rushed!
Maybe it's the fact that the author constantly gives us the thoughts of all three characters that makes the story lack in movement, spontaneity. The insight to their minds, no matter how colourful they are, seems to have the effect of stagnation rather then helping the story along.

If you're familiar with Darla, Trevor and Joe you know how funny this trio can be! This one takes the cake! I love the way Julia Kent can get my laughing so hard my husband gives me dirty looks then turns up the heat!!
The whole band Random Acts of Crazy is invited to a mysterious island called Eden. Included are Sam's girlfriend Amy as well as the bands "manager" and our favorite sassy Ohioan, Darla! They are expected to play the gig of there lives but the Master of the Island has a plan...
Will the Master's plan help or hurt our favorite trio? Will the Unicorn ever catch that chicken?? Who says the "L" word first?
OK, maybe not ALL of those questions are answered. Regardless, you will be turned on and laughing your butt off with this one! Darla on a plane? BEST SCENE EVER!! Seriously I thought the iPhone in the hoohaw scene was good. You've never heard of a tie dye lesson on a plane before! Behind all this hilarity is a beautiful love story and a first time DP!
I did receive a copy at no cost for this review but honestly I would have bought it anyway!
This story is a continuation of from The Random Acts of Crazy book. Darla, Trevor, and Joe are in a full fledged ménage relationship but the comfort is not completely there yet. The band Random Acts of Crazy are invited to an exclusive resort to perform. There is all kind of craziness happening at this resort that only happens in people's wildest fantasies. The story is just fun with humor sprinkled through it all. I love Ms. Kent's ability to make me have laugh out loud moment and enjoy the intricacies of ménage relationships. She is solid in her abilities to tell different points of view.
ETA-This copy was given to me by the author in fair exchange for a review.
First, I'll start with this book way way better than the first. I skipped the second story in order to keep the characters narrative. I wasn't disappointed. I dont know much about this Eden Island series, but I loved the H+h+H- Joe is still Joe, a big a- hole. Trevor still amazing. And Darla... one of the grate heroine I read in a long time.
Lots of shenanigans as Julia continues with the cooky characters and puts them in crazy-Ass situations. The band is invited by a mysterious person to perform a gig at Eden Island. Very excited, super thrilled at the huge prospect and all expense paid vacation trip, but a water balloon Burts on their head at the airport. Looney-suzy is also invited and that's a damper The catch comes to light when they reach the said island. Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
And when in Rome...... IYKYK 😉 Starfishes everywhere and some pretty handsy too.joe struggles initially with their triangulation, but soon sheds clothes and inhibitions. What follows is super horny scene, and good ol lilo came to my rescue. Is it hot in here or is it Hot In here 🔥🔥🔥 The mystery of the Master and how Suzy roped in the know is still a mystery tho. Sebastian York, Ted Branson and Andi arndt are spectacular as usual “4 stars for lovelies” Follow me on: Email🌻 Bookbub 🌻 Twitter🌻 Instagram🌻 Blog🌻 Facebook🌻 Amazon 🌻
We're back to the triad in this book, as the band gets a mysterious invitation to play a concert on a private island.
Joe is even more uptight in this book. When faced with possibly going public with his threesome relationship, Joe--who is a little confused about everything--says and does the absolute wrong things.
In addition to dealing with his current relationship, Joe is confronted with his crazy stalker/ex-fiancee, Suzy... and Suzy really brings the crazy! She was probably the best part of the book.
We never find out who sent the invitations...Who is the so-called "Master"? How did s/he know so much about the band? How did s/he know about Joe's past... enough to send Crazy Suzy an invite that said she was there to "help Joe"? Help Joe do what?
* gained for: "The book caught my interest in first five pages." * gained for: "I thought about the book when I was forced to set it down and re-enter society." * gained for: "There were no info dumps, poor writing, or copy edit mistakes that jerked me out of the story." * gained for: "I was sad when the book ended. I want more!"
The novel failed to gain stars for these items: NO STAR gained for: "That's it. I'm hooked on this author I will automatically buy anything s/he writes."
Every single person in this book was an absolute idiot who is horny all the time but also hypocritically possessive and whose internal monologues have the exact same immature tone. How are they balancing going to Harvard/Law School while also doing full time work maintaining a popular band PLUS making the worst business decisions like naive babies? It required too much suspension of disbelief while simultaneously constantly rolling my eyes.
I accidentally borrowed it, realized it was the middle of a story arc, looked at the first book, which was not as bad? But this was over the top terrible.
Crazy doesn't even begin to scratch the surface... Take yet another wild and extremely untamed journey with the spontaneous rock band "Random Acts of Crazy" to a fantasy island where all your kinky dreams can come true... but first you must go through some pretty insane and bereft of reason situations! Another pee-in-your-pants novel that will have you rolling on the floor with all the comic circumstances all the characters in this ludicrous series find themselves in! 5 Unhinged And Unbalanced Stars for "Random Acts Of Fantasy".
I really don’t know what to say about this book. It’s absurd, it’s silly, it’s a bit like a car wreck in that once you see it you can’t look away. Reading Darla is so much like reading stream-of-consciousness. You really don’t have any idea where it’s going to take you next. I love that this book shows us Darla, Trevor, and Joe getting real and getting serious about their feelings for one another. The antics leading them to the place where they could get that vulnerable left me laughing my well-padded arse off. I read this book as part of the box set.
This series has me laughing out loud with each installment!! I love that we get more Darla - she is a gem of a character.
The band is on a private island / resort for a show, oh, and it's a sex club. What could go wrong there?
The love Trevor and Joe have for Darla is amazing. She's not a cookie cutter character, not a waif. She's a real woman with no inhibitions and no filter. Trouble comes when Joe's ex shows up on the island. What will Joe choose?
The narration is so excellent - SebYo, Andi & Tad - they bring the best!
The band has been invited to the island of Eden which they find out is a sex island. They see all sorts of different sex acts going on and learn that everything goes and that they can be themselves.
We never learn how they ended up on this island as it is invite only. What makes them so special other than two of the members are in a threesome relationship with their band manager?
This book almost felt like it could be a standalone and I thought it was actually a .5 in the series.
I think this is a brilliantly written book-but I struggled with it. I love Darla I think she is an incredible character but that said, I just couldn't come to grips with this island plot. I wouldn't give up because I knew that Darla's vindication of being loved and her realization of self worth would prevail and it most certainly did.
This groups’ lives just get crazier and crazier! A super secret invitation to perform on a private island. Some very interesting people at the resort. A deranged ex. Danger and love... this book is definitely random and crazy! Love these characters. But Darla & Joe have to get it together!
Ohhh, what a shock, when Joe’s ex runs into them at the airport. Joe has felt so left out, while he has been gone at school. He wonders if Darla and Trevor still want him with the. The band gets an invitation to preform a concert at a resort on an island, each member will get $10,000. It’s an offer they cannot pass up. Lots of humor and mystery.
I wanted a light hearted read and this story delivered. Nevertheless, it had a serious core and moved the Darla/Trevor/Joe relationship along. The next book in the series sounds amusing too.
The story is about the entire band but mostly the triangle of Joe, Trevor, and Darla. A bit confusing and random at times. Looking forward to reading book #4 to see if book #3 makes more sense. Intimacy is MFM but no MM, FYI.
This book has so many passages that are so funny my sides hurt the whole time. Getting Darla though her first flight made me laugh so hard I could not breath!
