I love the Last Ronin universe. I was a bit worried about this book as I did not think it could live up to the first book. I am so glad to be wrong. This book got me emotionally, and I started to love and feel with the next generation of characters. April is a great anchor point. I like this tougher more conandung April.

The city is in chaos. Gang wars have erupted throughout the city the police and politicians seem to be adding more fuel to the fire only the Resistance is looking out for the people but they are being overwhelmed. The next generation of TMNT need to step up, but are they ready? What secrets will be revealed and will these bring them closer together or tear them apart?

The book is awesome. Great flashback to the past however these guys will need to create their legends and inspire the people of New York. New heroes, villains and abilities. The book finishes with a varient covers gallery.

Cowabunga!—The Last Ronin II: Re-Evolution #2 doesn’t just wear its nostalgia on its sleeve, it weaponises it. This issue is a slick, emotionally charged ride through the shattered shadows of a world trying to rebuild itself—with the ghosts of four very familiar brothers whispering through every page.

The art? Chef’s kiss. Visceral, sharp, and glorious (even with the watermark on my advanced copy). Every panel feels heavy with memory and purpose, dripping in that gritty, post-Ronin atmosphere fans of the original run will instantly latch onto.

Beneath the mayhem and nostalgia, there’s real heart here. This story is a bold, often poignant exploration of legacy, trauma, and the weight of stepping into the shell of giants. The new generation—Yi, Uno, Odyn, and Moja—are still finding their rhythm, but there’s real promise in their tension, their doubt, their potential. This series is laying the groundwork not just for another chapter in TMNT lore, but for a rebirth.

The Turtles had to evolve. This issue gets that. It honours the past without being shackled by it, and dares to ask what comes next when the legends are gone. Not every beat lands perfectly, but the emotional gut punches hit hard, and the final pages are fantastic!

The future is murky. The shadows are long. But if Re-Evolution keeps this up, the Turtle legacy is in seriously good hands.

Returning to the world of The Last Ronin, the creators had a large task ahead of them in following up on the original story. They managed to tell a great story, but I just couldn't quite fall in love with it as much as I have other Turtles tales and wasn't able to connect with the characters quite as much as the originals. I will always poke my head in and check on the characters in the future and hope that I will enjoy the next tale a bit more.

What?!!! Rude ending. Horrible. Mean. Rude. Okay… but TLR2 is perfect. It’s amazing and keeps the same dark, constant action vibe as the first. Can’t wait to see these next turtles in their next adventure.

Not as good as the last ronin but still pretty great. They had some really great plot points and it seemed like the difficulty was needing to include so much story to get there. I loved the introduction of a new TMNT team. Their character development is familiar in a lot of ways but also new. It would be good to see more development and fleshing out of these characters. It ends on a big cliff hanger and will be good to see where they go next.

This may be nitpicky, but it really bothers me that they called it "The Last Ronin 2". This story has nothing to do with the last ronin or any one last ronin. It's a brand new team and I think they deserved a new name for the series. Keeping the same name seems like an attempt to re-capiralize on the popularity of the original last ronin.

Love getting to se the new Turtles in action and getting to know their character better.

Wasn't a huge fan of the main conflict...until the end. 👀

It does a lot of cross-page span art so sometimes I don't realize and it confuses me a little bit. I undarstand artistically that that is a great way to do some sequences, but it's almost the whole book, so it just got a bit annoyning.

This book has the unenviable task of following The Last Ronin and unfortunately it doesn’t quite live up to it.

I like the characters but i don’t think we get enough time with them. I’d rather spend more time with the new turtles than deal with the generic rebellion storyline.

The art is functional but never great.

The story left me wanting. It ends on a cliffhanger and I think i’ll check out more if we get some but its not a certainty. Shame.

I really enjoyed this new entry in the Last Ronin series! This is a sequel the Lost years! Except for this time our new cast of turtles are growing up and we don’t have any flashbacks.

As I was reading I was asking myself, how are these new turtles going to stand out and be different for the original team?? And we find out really quickly! These new turtles where essentially created by April, as she knew that the city was still going to need someone to stand up and protect the city. And as our new turtles grow they start to mutate even more and start to show powers! One can essentially change its skin and go invisible, another can turn their skin rock hard, one can use telepathy and lastly one can create lightning, using it as a shield.

We don’t get a whole lot with them using their powers but it’s been really interesting to see how they use them as the series continues.

I also really enjoyed the artwork, everything was very well drawn, I also really love how they use colors. Everything really pops out.

I really enjoyed the story this time around. This book does a lot of world building. Getting to know all the powers in play.

All of the fight scenes were really great! Very well drawn as well, I just wish we got a little bit more. They all kinda ended really quickly.

And lastly my only real con I had was the physical book had a lot of full panels that went across both pages. Which made looking at and reading parts in the middle difficult do the book binding. Which this book had a bunch of them.

Outside of those I had a good time with the book. Better than lost years but not nearly as good as last ronin. I’m interested in seeing how these new turtles turn out.

The Last Ronin II -- Re-Evolution takes place 16 years after the events of The Last Ronin (the single greatest TMNT graphic novel ever made). The Foot Clan has been defeated for over a decade but new threats rises up to take over the city. Will the Resistance and the new TMNTs stop the tide or will they be crushed underneath the waves?

As an 80s and 90s kid, I absolutely loved (and still do) the Ninja Turtles. The original graphic novel (check it out if you are a TMNT fan and have never read it) was gritty and tense and sad in ways that TMNT had rarely ever explored before. It was incredible. This sequel does a really good job of retaining the essence of what made the first one so great while exploring the dynamics of 4 different turtles (2 brothers and 2 sisters).

I really loved what they did with the new roster and the way they explored mutations that leveled up the mutations from the original four. Engaging writing, great characters, and an intriguing storyline made this one a wonderful read. The graphic novel covers the first 5 issues of the series with #5 ending on a pretty big cliffhanger. Highly recommend reading this work but definitely suggest reading the first one and The Lost Years prior to beginning.

It’s been 16 years since Michelangelo brought down the Foot and died. The resistance is still going strong and fighting daily to push back at the multiple gangs that now fill the town. Casey Marie has been training the new turtles since they could walk and she finally is letting them on the field. But things don’t always go as planned.

I am glad we are getting more stories with this new batch of turtles and this future NY because I was really curious after the previous book if these new turtles would end up having to fight for the resistance. Moja, Uno, Yi, and Odyn were all great because each of them is unique in looks and personalities. While the previous turtles all had different personalities, they mostly looked the same. Also I really like that we have some female turtles now!

This volume ends in a bit of a cliffhanger because a new threat is attacking the resistance and it is causing them to retreat from their main locations. I wasn’t expecting this to end in a cliffhanger, but I think it is a good way to keep me hooked because I really want to know what happens next with the resistance, the turtles, and with Honeycutt.

This was an epic return to the world of TMNT The Last Ronin. This collection threw you straight into the deep end, whilst this was a bit confusing at first, it ended up being super beneficial to the overall pace, as instead of explaining everything for the first half it instead explained everything slowly throughout the story, in between action sequences.

I loved the new team of Mutants, they were humorous and unique, I was concerned that they may be a carbon copy of the original team, but I was glad to discover they were in fact brand new characters that share very little resemblance of the original squad.

I loved that so many of the illustrations were split over two pages making some stunning wide spanning sections, from the characters to the backgrounds, it was illustrated perfectly in the classic IDW style.

This collection delves beautifully into the history of the TMNT as well as summarising the important parts of the last collection, this is perfect for fans of the last ronin as well as newcomers.

I look forward to reading the next instalment when that gets released.

The sort of comic I remember devouring when I was a teenager. This is an introduction, without as much ninja action as I might prefer. The turtles are back! Well actually different turtles are back! Well not back really, because they are new mutant ninja turtles. But, they are very much like the originals. Four mixed up, batting for each other, and ready to jump right in to protect everyone. This first part, of a much bigger story, introduces the next bunch of mutated back chatting fun, and their nemesis. There’s a large part of verbal telling of how they came to be - if you’ve followed the turtles before you could skip this bit if you are more untreated in the visual experience. Whatever made the Last Ronin good this sequel volume is missing. It's a disjointed in media res tale. Maybe I missed something but there's no explanation regarding why one has powers then the others get them. There's an actual line that essentially has one character stating now I have powers like so and so. Yes they hint at further mutations. In the Last Ronin it was revealed that Casey Jones' daughter is also a mutant but it just makes her faster and stronger. The dystopian setting that made a little sense in the Last Ronin makes absolutely no sense in this sequel. Maybe it was a failed attempt at a relaunch. Sometimes stories don't need sequels. Art was fine. Pacing was off. Character development and motivation were odd or not present, again making it seem like an attempt at laying ground work for a new series.

These TMNT books just really don’t miss do they? Every TMNT book I’ve read so far has been not only amazing as a turtles fan, but just simple great in the writing and artwork department. Seriously some of the best comics I’ve read have been TMNT books and this book is no exception. I was a little hesitant on The Last Ronin story continuing as it was such a great one off book and was afraid any continuation could stain its excellence, but so far all the books to come after have been awesome. These new turtles really grow on you and the stakes in the story and situation are characters are in feel serious and real, you never know what’s on the next page. I look forward to seeing where our new turtles end up and highly recommend to any TMNT fan, and especially any fan of The Last Ronin.

As a fan of The Last Ronin series, I wanted to enjoy this more. While the illustrations were great, the narrative struggled. The writing was weak at the start and took time to warm up, lacking the strength of previous Last Ronin books. I liked the dynamic between the new turtles, but the villains were underwhelming. Like Spider-Man, TMNT thrives not only on its heroes but also its villains, and this book lacked creative, interesting antagonists. The stakes didn't feel as impactful, and the reactions from April, Casey, and the turtles didn't match the plot situation. I'm still interested in the next adventure, but I hope more thought is put into the story development moving forward--something I didn't feel was lacking in the earlier Last Ronin books.

I grew up reading TMNT comics, watching the movies, and playing with the action figures. Many iterations of the brothers have been created since that time and this is one of the few that do the originals any sort of justice. The Turtles are a new generation of hero’s. The comic and the characters contained within do a good job at paying respect to their predecessors.
The illustrations were A+, the storyline was enough to keep me interested but drug a little at times.
If you grew up with the TMNT then this is worth a read!

. I love the new iteration of turtles and the world building its has been setting up. We see two of the turtles starting to mutate and in the process learn new abilities, lets just say these new abilities are so sick and cant wait to see what the other 2 have in store for us. I also cant help but geek out with their design, these Ninjas got insane aura. Master Casey is also very wise in this issue which i really like, she growing as a teacher/mother.
Are we going to slowly start seeing new mutants?

This is a fun reset of the Last Ronin world to refocus on some teenage mutant ninja turtles and I am here for it. Taking the dark, gritty future of the Last Ronin and adding new teenage turtles is a very fun idea. I enjoyed the new characters with their new powers and differing personalities. It should do a good job of threading the needle between age appropriate and dark enough for the target audience.

It's the future. April married Casey Jones and had a girl, also named Casey. But Casey and Splinter and the original turtles are all dead. The new Casey has trained 4 new turtles that April mutated and these new turtles have extra mutant powers. This book just establishes all that along with a lot of fighting and running but it's nice to see with all this rehashing that the characters are distinctly different. So it's exciting to see what will come of this new series.

4.5 stars and I’m feeling generous today so we’ll round up! I’m a sucker for the turtles and this didn’t disappoint. Art is fantastic and the story is intriguing enough. If you’re not on board with starting fresh and are looking for more of the OG crew then this isn’t it, I enjoyed watching the new turtles come into their own, there is definitely more development needed to flesh these guys out but it definitely set up for an additional sequel, I’m excited for part III

They have legacy and family behind them.

The new Turtles have mutant powers beyond what their predecessors had. They’re superheroes as well.

They get caught up in a battle between two rival gangs, which sadly only happened to make way for the return of the Foot Clan.

They win the first battle, but at a great loss to their family…

It’s a real re-evolution and very different from the original. I like it. 4 different types of turtles with individual special abilities and powers.

I think this could turn out to be a very fun and interesting series. I just hope the turn around time isn’t spaced out more than a year per volume or it will loose its audience fast.
