Hayley is a food critic in Key West, Florida. Her employer is sponsoring a big shindig on a boat, and her mom is the caterer. Everyone is shocked when there is an explosion onboard and there are many injuries and one fatality. Of course Hayley feels she must investigate despite her police officer husband's request to let his office handle it. The Key West ambiance is fun, but I did question the wisdom of Hayley's judgement when she goes to a deserted area to investigate without informing anyone and gets into trouble. Recipes are included. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.

I love this series. It makes me feel like I’m in the Keys !!! ha ha ! A few annoyances with the husband as usual… I hope this isn’t the last one, the mystery was good🌟

This is part of the Key West Food critic mystery series. I have not read other books in the series and still enjoyed this a lot!! So I think it's safe to say it can be read as a standalone. This is about Hayley, who's a food critic in Key West, FL. Her employer is hosting a cruise party and Hayley's Mom is the one doing the catering. They are hoping this will help them both gain business. But once the ship leaves, there is a fire and everyone has to get off. Then they find there is a passenger that has died below deck. Haley needs to find out the truth behind what happened and sets out to do her own investigating. This was a fun cozy mystery that gave me all the vacation and summer vibes. I thought the mystery was suspenseful and I did not guess the outcome. I would definitely read more in this series!

Key West’s annual Sunset Celebration has been a huge event since the 1960s. This year, Key Zest – the e-zine that aspires to be the go-to source of information on all things Key West- is throwing a fete to attract new advertisers and draw attention to “outshine” the competition aboard the Pilar Too, a handcrafted wooden Hemingway yacht lookalike on a much larger scale. Hayley’s mom, Janet, is catering the affair, hoping to draw attention to her business as well.
All the guests have arrived and are enjoying yummy mango-infused delicacies and special cocktails when an explosion blows everything out of the water. The Coast Guard, the Key West Fire Department, and even other pleasure boats rush in to rescue people from the water as parts of the yacht, personal items, and even catering items float around them. Hayley was battered from her tumble into the water; some had more serious injuries, but one unidentified person lost their life.
It turns out the death was no accident. A competitor of Janet’s who wasn’t on the guest list is the victim, and Hayley is in the middle of another murder investigation that takes her deep into island and catering business politics filled with secrets and lies.
On top of a murder on her plate, Miss Gloria is turning 85, and her family is coming to Key West for several events Hayley has planned.
It is so good to be back in Key West with Hayley, Nathan, Gloria, and their friends and family. There is never a dull moment. Hayley and Nathan are blissfully happy most of the time. He doesn’t like her worming her way into his cases, even though he knows she is good at getting to the truth. He just wants to keep her safe. Gloria is a spitfire as always, especially when her daughters-in-law are in town. Janet and Sam are supportive rocks for everyone. Nathan’s mom, Helen, always cracks me up. She loves helping Hayley sleuth. All of Ms. Burdette’s characters are genuine, even the ones that try everyone’s nerves.
The author plotted out a marvelous mystery. A yacht blowing up is a quick way to grab everyone’s attention, mine included. While tragic, it could have been so much worse. Hayley getting involved was a given, but this was a complicated mystery. Was the deceased the intended victim? The ship was filled with Key West movers and shakers. Or was the target Hayley’s boss, Palamina? Or her mom, Janet? Hayley, sometimes assisted by Helen, followed each and every clue, sometimes circling back to approach things in different ways. But it was while Hayley was alone that the case took a surprising twist, followed by a very interesting reveal, an entertaining rescue, and a great takedown.
Amongst all the sleuthing and snooping, people were celebrating Miss Gloria’s 85th birthday with several fun events. It is just sad that when her family comes to town, they only have one mission on their minds. Getting her to leave Key West, her home, and the place where she is happy. She has made strong friendships and built her own Key West family. I think now they have realized that, but you never know.
I loved all the mango drinks, cakes, and dishes, but what hit home with me was Janet’s Tuna Noodle Casserole. Her’s has a few more ingredients in it than our family recipe, and we use cream of celery soup instead of cream of mushroom, but I think every Midwest household grew up with some version of this casserole as a family staple. I added all the ingredients to the grocery list this week, so I will be delightfully enjoying some myself soon.
The Mango Murders is filled with characters that I love who continue to evolve in wonderful ways in each new story. Ms. Burdette has surrounded them with a complex mystery that surprised me in more ways than one. Of course, the backdrop of Key West is an amazing setting that I wish I could run away to and visit often. The final chapters had me smiling ear to ear and so excited to read next year’s 16th installment of this fabulous series.

My ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I love the food descriptions and glimpses into Key West, old friend that it is. But this is book 15. I spent most if the book thinking can we please get some character development for Nathan? And maybe tender moments or something other than interrogation and demanding that Hayley play it safe? The middle of the book went round in circles speaking to the same people numerous times but it finally got back on track at the very end.

Hayley is just as nosy as ever in this installment, but don’t take my word…the characters say it more than enough. 😅
I felt the beginning was super slow and I’m not sure if that’s because I’ve been removed from the series for awhile or if it’s because the mystery started early on. I enjoyed the setting for the mystery and the running parts but it did end up dragging a bit. It was nice to see some characters pop back up that we’ve met in the past but there was definitely an overload of people in this book.
Palamina, Hayley’s boss, was quite tolerant of the sheer volume of questions. I can’t remember if there was a seed planted last book about no one really knowing Palamina but it played out in this book, finally.
The ending was…..expected. That’s all I can say!

Thanks #netgalley for providing me with an #arc of this book. This was such a fun cozy murder mystery and perfect for the summertime! It had me guessing ‘till the end. I haven’t read the other books in this series, but it didn’t matter for the storyline, which is nice! Will read more!

Hayley is such a fun character, and this story includes the 85th birthday of her dear friend Miss Gloria.

As a long-time fan of Burdette's Key West Food Critic Mystery series, I've always looked forward to each new volume. For the first time, however, I had some reservations. I love cooking and eating, but reader, I really dislike mangoes. Burdette deserves an extra star, because by the end of the novel, I was willing to concede the fruit does have merit. Mangoes, in fact, are secondary to this high-action plot, which opens with a literal bang.
The Pilar Too, a small cruise ship carrying guests for an event designed to promote Key Zest and Hayley's mother's catering business, explodes and burns in full view of the Mallory Square sunset gathering. Through Hayley's eyes, we see the chaos of the rescue and the aftermath. From this riveting opening, the plot diverges into two streams.
The main plot revolves around the planned celebration for our beloved Miss Gloria, who is turning 85. The gathering, comprised of family and friends, provides ample opportunity for Hayley to dine while also following her instincts for crime solving. For me, the interaction between family members—some genuinely loved, others poster children for rudeness—reveals Burdette's astute observation into the human condition. For example, an ongoing theme has been Nathan's overprotectiveness regarding Hayley. Now stressed by both the police matter and his family, Nathan appears to regress to his earlier, obstinate self. To be fair, neither partner is showing their best self; Hayley, too, is being obstinate. It is to Burdette's credit that she doesn't sugarcoat Hayley; her foibles make her all the more likable in the long run.
As with all books in this series, Burdette plays fair with the reader. The perpetrator is not obvious; there are plenty of red herrings, but the mystery can be solved with careful reading. The ending closes with a twist that may change everything, leaving me eagerly looking ahead to book sixteen.
This will make a great book club selection and is suitable for readers from YA to adult.

This is one of my favorite cozy mystery culinary series. Started in the middle and went back to the beginning and over the last few years have stayed current.
The series is set in beautiful Key West which is full of character and characters. It is full over sass especially when Miss Gloria gets involved. She is my absolute favorite character. Nathan has grown on me.
The Mango Murders revolves around everything mangoes and a boat explosion that almost took out half the cast.
A perfect read for the last few days of summer.
The ending is perfect and will leave you hungry for more.

I always enjoy escaping to Key West with this series and this book doesn't disappoint. There is an awful lot happening this time around too .... won't give away spoilers but we learn more about some of our favorite characters putting them at risk in the case of this title --- this book was a quick read and involved a few storylines that tied together nicely in the end.
Can't wait to read the next one because this story ends with lots of excitement!!

"The Mango Murders (Key West Food Critic Mystery #15)" by Lucy Burdette was solved purely by the over reaction of the culprit and Hayley stumbling upon an odd scenario. This one seems to be a bit more focused on the details of all the parties/gatherings in it and some big news at the end. I really felt thrown into the reveal of the culprit and wasn't even close to making any real guesses. Between this series starting to have a real pattern of the drama in it and the way this book ended, I think it would be a good time to take a break from the series. It's just not for me anymore.

As a former Floridian, I'm always happy to take a food oriented virtual trip to Key West to hang out with Hayley and her usual friends and family. Lots of family this go-round, The author always does an excellent job capturing the atmosphere of Key West. She even tosses in historic bits here and there and, no, it isn't all Hemingway related. I even found myself doing a silent "I know that name!" at the mention of Henry Flagler. Not only was he behind the building of Casa Marina in the Keys but his name was given to a building on my own college campus (not South Florida), so a nice connection.
In any case, on to the story. It's a twisty, tricky one with lots of red herrings to send us amateur sleuths off on tangents. Who blew up not only the party boat Hayley and some family members were one, not to mention many of the movers and shakers of the town, but maybe themself in the process? Things are further complicated when the sole victim isn't quickly and easily identified. Was it the culprit or some innocent bystander in the wrong place at the wrong time. I mean, Hayley and the rest had to be rescued out of the water. Or, perhaps it was genuinely a tragic accident? Needless to say, Hayley and husband Nathan, police investigator, don't have any quick, easy answers. In fact, Hayley's snooping, er, asking of questions and Nathan's typical police caution to stay out of it, seem to be creating tensions beyond the norm. Uh, oh.
Toss in family on all sides arriving for the big party planned for Hayley and Nathan's beloved neighbor Gloria and there is a great deal going on. Gloria's family is, let's just say, worried and some are determined she be placed in senior housing despite her protests. Oddly enough, despite my annoyance with them, I found myself at least understanding them as well as liking the usual characters. Lots going on in the background that slowly emerges, too, involving the inevitable conflict between those who want Key West tor remain just as it is and those who want to develop the area, often at the expense of smaller housing areas. Key West is usually seen as a bit of a party town, okay, forget the bit and think Jimmy Buffet party-time, but the struggle between image and reality is just as real there as it is everywhere. Thanks #NetGalley and #CrookedLaneBooks for allowing me once again to take an early virtual peek at life in the Keys and catch up with everyone. Can't wait to see what happens in the next book based on possibilities emerging at the end.

The Mango Murders is the 15th book in this wonderful Key West Food Critic cozy mystery series, and it is a delicious delight. Last year, I was fortunate enough to read #14, and that got me hooked to where I went back and am working my way through the entire series. However, this book can be read as a standalone because Ms. Burdette does a great job of providing just enough background to give a new reader context.
In this installment, the main character, food critic (and amateur sleuth) Haley Snow, and her colleagues at Key Zest magazine, are hosting a sunset cruise around Key West to bring more ad revenue and interest to the publication. Her mother, Janet Snow, is the caterer, also hoping to bring in new business to her catering company. Shortly after the boat leaves the dock, there is a fire onboard, and everyone must abandon ship. It is discovered later that one attendee, who was below decks, died. Haley gets drawn into another murder mystery. The plot moves along at a steady pace, with enough twists and turns to keep me going and guessing until the very end. There’s a wonderful revelation at the end that already has me champing at the bit for Book #16!
Meanwhile, while the investigation is going on, we are treated to a delightful birthday celebration for another character’s birthday. Lots of great food descriptions and party fun are woven throughout the story, which makes for a pleasant respite from the murder investigation. It’s also a great opportunity for Ms. Burdette to share more about Key West, and yes, I always pause to look up a location or restaurant. I can’t wait to visit someday!

In this installment, the main character, food critic (and amateur sleuth) Haley Snow, and her colleagues at Key Zest magazine, are hosting a sunset cruise around Key West to bring more ad revenue and interest to the publication. Her mother, Janet Snow, is the caterer, also hoping to bring in new business to her catering company. Shortly after the boat leaves the dock, there is a fire onboard, and everyone must abandon ship. It is discovered later that one attendee, who was below decks, died. Haley gets drawn into another murder mystery. The plot moves along at a steady pace, with enough twists and turns to keep me going and guessing until the very end. There’s a wonderful revelation at the end that already has me champing at the bit for Book #16!
Meanwhile, while the investigation is going on, we are treated to a delightful birthday celebration for another character’s birthday. A sunset cruise around Key West and some of it's surrounding islets sounds like the perfect way to increase business for Key Zest Magazine and Janet Snow's catering business until the boat explodes throwing all the esteemed guests into the water. Hayley's boss, Palamina, editor of Key Zest comes up with the idea with Hayley and coworker Danielle in charge of checking in guests. One or two unexpected guests manage to get onboard in the last minute boarding rush. When one of them is found below deck dead during the investigation of the explosion, Hayley goes into detective mode, even though she and her family are involved in a huge celebration of Miss Gloria's 85th birthday. Of course Miss Gloria's sons and their wives are in attendance, once again determined to move her back to Michigan. How to find the person responsible for the explosion, clearing her mother's name without completely aggravating her chief police deputy husband, Nathan and ensure Miss Gloria has a birthday celebration worthy of this delightful and much loved friend is driving Hayley a bit over the edge.

Most of the supporting characters of previous books in the series make an appearance in this one and it was such a treat to see them all again.
The plot built throughout and looking back there were some clues to "who done it", but I was surprised when all was revealed. Another surprise occurs that I did see coming, but it was entertaining to watch it play out and I loved the way things ended.

THE MANGO MURDERS is the fifteenth book in the Key West Food Critic Mysteries by Lucy Burdette. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of a sunset cruise in Key West, protagonist food critic Hayley Snow is busy hosting the city’s movers and shakers on behalf of her Key Zest online magazine employer. Hayley’s mother and stepfather, Janet and Sam, are catering the event hoping to expand their business. I just adore the characters of this series and can’t help but admire the close relationship Hayley has with her mother and stepdad…as well as her friendships with other key characters, in particular, octogenarian Miss Gloria. These are people you’d count yourself lucky to call friends, which adds to the appeal of the book. From the very start, Ms. Burdette captures the intricate details of the setting, from the sights, sounds, scents, and flavors… and the mango-themed menu evokes the tropical feel of the locale. As inviting as the balmy breeze and mango daiquiris are, discord comes aboard the yacht, and it doesn’t take long for chaos to ensue.
One of the things you can count on from this author is that the action always starts off early on and the pace holds its own throughout the book… there is never a dull moment. In this latest release, a fire and then an explosion happen aboard the yacht, causing the guests to abandon ship, starting the mystery. Was it accidental? The Mango Murders by Lucy Burdette is a long-running cozy mystery series featuring food blogger/critic, Hayley Snow. It is a celebration of Key Zest, Hayley’s online magazine, and catered by Haley’s mother’s company. It was taking place on a the Pilar Too, a wooden catamaran, named after Ernest Hemingway’s and one of a kind. Things were going nicely when all of a sudden there is an explosion and Hayley finds herself in the water, surrounded by other people and debris from the boat. Thankfully it all happened right in front of Mallory Square on the waterfront. It was moments before she heard sirens. She had helped a couple of people in the water after ascertaining that her mother was fine. But, how had this happened? Was everyone all right? She would have to wait until her husband, Nathan, the Assistant Police Chief, got home to discover more. It was going to be a busy week. It was her eighty-five-year-old neighbor, Miss Gloria’s birthday and there were several celebrations planned. Her dad and his wife, and her half-brother were coming, as were Nathan’s parents, and of course, Miss Gloria’s family. Hayley simply didn’t have enough time.
Fortunately her step-mother and her mother-in-law helped Hayley investigate. There were a lot of possibilities. Hayley couldn’t believe a jealous caterer would do such a thing. Another boat owner? Didn’t really grab me and pull me in. I got easily distracted while reading.
The magazine Hayley works for throws a party on a boat. The boat explodes, among the wreckage the police find a dead body.
The police seem kind of incompetent. The dead body isn’t mentioned to the public until three or four days after the incident (why?) and it seems there is very little left of the body because they think it is “most likely a woman”. Forensics should have been able to tell them if it was definitely (biologically) a woman, as the police think they can positively identify the person with DNA or dental records. If you have enough to ID a dead body, you have enough to determine sex.
Hayley and Nathan’s relationship doesn’t seem healthy. He gets angry quickly and he tries to bully her out of investigating. This is book 15. He should know by now that sticking her nose in is her thing. If he can’t respect that, then why did he marry her? And then there’s that she “ felt embarrassed to have gotten so emotional in front of my poor self-contained husband”. Seriously? He’s the one person that should not judge her for feeling her feels. (As a side note: at one point Hayley mentions her husband has a hair-trigger temper and now he’s self-contained. Those two descriptions don’t go together well.)
I don’t like Hayley much either, for that matter.
Hayley talks to several people, always introducing herself as someone that was on the boat at the time of the incident and therefore with a vested interest to find out what happened. But the first few times she does not acknowledge the role in the incident of the person she is talking to. For instance, when she talks to the captain of the boat in the hospital she doesn’t ask how he’s doing or about his injuries. (Later she comments he was ungracious and unhelpful. He probably felt the same way about her.)
Throughout most of the story I was confussed about where Hayley was going or why, but I wasn’t invested enough to go back and read again. The reveal was anti-climatic.

Miss Gloria is turning 85 !!! Having an entire book dedicated to her and her parties would be enough for readers of the Key West Food Critic Mystery series but author Lucy Burdette knows that her dedicated fans can handle more ..... and she does not disappoint !!
The Mango Murders is the fifteenth book in this series and main character Hayley will have a lot going on, like always. Like I said Miss Gloria, who is Hayley and her husband Nathan's neighbor on Houseboat Row, is having a birthday and they are going to be partying !! They have a weekend full of parties and Miss Gloria's sons and daughters-in-law will be in town to celebrate !!
But before they can concentrate on Miss Gloria and her birthday Hayley has a work function. Her boss Palamina has organized and is hosting a cocktail party and has chartered a boatfor the event. Hayley's mother and step-father have been hired to cater the event. Unfortunately the boat has an explosion on board throwing everyone out and into the water. They soon learn that there was one person killed as a result and the authorities are leaning towards murder.
As always, Hayley wants to solve the case even though Nathan who is the deputy chief of police and his department are more than capable of solving it and it's their jobs !! Hayley feels this is personally in two ways with first her employer was hosting the event and secondly her mother wss the caterer hired.
Readers will fall in love with everything about this series. The series has a special place in my heart. When I was visiting my mom who lived in Florida I had one of these books with me to read. My mom showed an interest so I left it with her to read. She has since passed so every time I have the pleasure of opening the latest book in the series, I feel like mom is with me.

5/5 stars: This is the fifteenth entry in Burdette' Key West Food Critic Mystery series, which is a Literary Culinary Cozy Mystery set in Florida and follows a food writer and critic as she once again finds herself turning sleuth after learning a local culinary entrepreneur died in a luxurious cruise's explosion during a cocktail party hosted by her employer and catered by her mother. She'll have to navigate a web of secrets and lies as her investigation takes her from island politics to fierce competition between high-end event caterers and personal vendettas. With the clock ticking, she must rely on her keen intuition to unmask the cunning culprit before they strike again. With plenty of twists and turns, Burdette has masterfully crafted a mystery that deftly balances the suspects, clues and red herrings and will leave you pondering the whodunit until the final reveal. Heartfelt and humorous, Burdette' writing and character work are stellar; the characters are well-rounded and complex while remaining incredibly likable. Hayley's a great character and it's a joy to catch up with her, her detective husband, Nathan, her friends and family, colleagues at Key Zest and the eclectic folks of Key West. I especially get a kick out of her octogenarian best pal Gloria. And for the animals lovers: you'll love Hayley's adorable little dog, Ziggy and her sassy cat, Evinrude. Burdette really sets the scene of life in the Keys especially houseboat living. Oh and I absolutely adore the culinary quotes heading each chapter; reading all the food descriptions will make you hungry to try one of the oh so delicious included recipes. While you could read this as a stand-alone, you'll gain so much more by reading the series from the beginning; so be sure to pick up book one, An Appetite for Murder.

I loved The Mango Murders. The cocktail cruise, which had all sorts of Mango delicacies since the story is set in May when mangos are in season, was a really fun way to launch the story.
The mystery is fast-paced and kicks off right away in Chapter One. Hayley once again demonstrates a smart and methodical approach to the case. The mystery ends with a clever reveal.

I loved the location of this cozy mystery the most, as I have always wanted to go on a cruise! I’ll definitely be returning to this series!

An evening spent on board a beautiful boat in the Florida Keys, with stunning food and drink, interesting company, and a chance to garner new customers for Janet Snow's catering company as well as investors and advertisers for e-zine, Key Zest is an exciting prospect. When a tragedy occurs the police are quickly on the scene, but secrets abound and party organiser and local journalist, Hayley Snow is soon on the case, much to the dismay of her husband, Nathan, the new Deputy Chief of the local police force. At the same time, Hayley has been arranging close friend Miss Gloria's 85th birthday celebrations, which are spread over a number of lunch and evening events. With so much on her plate, she's spending her days investigating and her evenings celebrating, while a killer has her in their sights and is waiting in the wings ready to strike again.
Book fifteen in this series was a fun read that was entertaining throughout and left me with no idea who the killer was, even though the clues were there! Hayley is a great main protagonist, and there was great cameos from her and Miss Gloria's family as they all congregated for the impressive birthday celebrations.
I was able to read an advanced copy of this thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, Crooked Lane Books, but the opinions expressed are my own. I do wonder if there will be any more books in this series as it seemed all the loose ends were neatly tied up, I hope I'm wrong as I will miss Hayley and her adventures. Highly recommended.

An event designed to help the struggling ezine Hayley worked for certainly did not turn out as planned in this cozy with an explosive beginning. The explosion is barely the tip of the iceberg as Hayley's mom soon ends up a possible suspect in murder and Hayley throws herself into the investigation even though it is her husband's job. This reporter has a nose for news and it is not all the food kind that she writes about so she digs in exposing secrets from a pas that may be returning to destroy a future.
The cast of characters surrounding Hayley were pretty amazing staring and ending with a wonderful neighbor who is family and a little zany. Her husband may be trying to keep Hayley out of the investigation so she can heal but sometimes just talking to people you can learn a lot. The customer gave Hayley the ability to get people to open up and spill the tea which works perfectly with her curiosity

The Mango Murders has the same amount of mangoes as it does mystery, wit, amazing characters, and a nosy FMC that is going to get to the bottom of the explosion and murders.
Hayley needs to impress some big advertisers for the e-zine she works for. She is a food critic, and her mom will be catering to the event aboard a yacht. All is going well, and it looks like her boss Palamina may actually be impressed. However, as people enjoy their mango infused drinks and hors d'oeuvres, there is a fire in the bottom deck kitchen that eventually turns into an explosion, and everyone jumps over board. Hayley and her mom and mostly everyone on board is safe. Deputy Chief Nathan Bransford cop and husband to Hayley takes over the investigation, and a burnt body is found aboard the yacht.
Hayley is a very funny character who has very little survival skills and throws herself into several harmful situations. But she does it with charm and good intentions. I really enjoyed Miss Gloria and the cool fact that they live on house boats. There are two captains that have it out for each other, and one ends up dead. And the juicy part about her boss Palamina and a former lover that may or may not be involved in the sabotaging of the yacht and murder. Lies, deceit, stolen recipes, and murder are all that you need for a fun and exciting read. Oh, and their recipes seem delicious!

Mallory Square is filled with visitors in town for the Sunset Celebration. Hayley welcomes the guests at the dock; soon the boat is moving away from the wharf and drinks are being served.

With summer weather still lingering here, it was enjoyable reading this book set on the warm, sunny waters of Key West. While I haven’t read any of the prior books in the series, I had no problem enjoying this fun cozy mystery.
Hayley Snow is a food critic employed by Key Zest. Hayley is working a big event catered by her mother, Janet, which is set aboard a luxury yacht, with a scrumptious spread of mango-infused entrees. When it looks like the party is going to be smooth sailing, an explosion rips through the ship. People and food are sent careening into the ocean.
Hayley and her mom are fine, but when Hayley learns that a local food competitor of Janet’s died in the explosion, Hayley turns to investigating. Who knew the catering world had a dark side?
I found this book to be a delightful read. The vivid descriptions of Key West made me long for a visit, and the abundance of delectable food and drinks turned it into a foodie’s paradise. The characters, though new to me, were a delightful mix of humor, charm, and quirkiness. Hayley's nosy nature made her a perfect amateur sleuth. I can’t wait for the next book!

Jamaican children sing of mamas turning the cookpots over and sending them out to eat mangos when ripe, so plentiful and for only a short time. In Key West, mango season is celebrated, with menus and recipes and parties, celebrating the fresh, delicious fruits. Why would anyone want to spoil the joy? Why indeed — Hayley and family/friends use all their collective wits to try to find the why and by whom of an “accident” that took a life and threatens livelihoods and peace of mind.
Meanwhile, celebration of Miss Gloria’s 85th involves multiple events, bringing together those who love her . . . and her family, still determined to move her to (shudder, brrrr) Michigan. I loved exploring Key West by car, foot, and scooter, enjoying the descriptions of places, people, and food — I could almost taste the delectable offerings, and there are recipes!
Villains are on a par with Iago, but there are also pleasant events and a surprise I wouldn’t dare spoil but kinda saw coming. ;-)
Coming Aug. 12, plenty of time to catch up on earlier books in the Key West series, should you wish to.
