The forecast didn’t call for a hockey player with an affection for guinea pigs…
I’m not your typical meteorologist. Sure, I might look extroverted on television, but inside, I’m an anxious thirty-something woman who’d love to be anywhere except a public setting. My love for the weather runs deep from when I was a kid in Indiana, so when I’m finally working as the chief meteorologist for a station in Denver, I’m happy. Well, mostly.
Enter Jacob Mitchell.
A star forward for the NHL’s Denver Wolves, I knew who he was when I literally ran into him on a busy downtown street. As charismatic as he is attractive, Jacob checks off every red flag I have. Sports star? Red flag! Hot? Big red flag! Flirtatious as all get out? Enormous red flag.
When we keep running into each other, I’m surprised to learn there’s so much more to Jacob than meets the eye. The man has an entire bedroom set up for his six guinea pigs! But after going out of his way to rescue me from a horrible family situation, I find myself whisked off to Las Vegas to say I Do. Jacob says it’s to keep me safe.
But what happens to my heart when he no longer has to play the role of my protective faux-husband?
Forecasting the Forward is a hockey, marriage of convenience, forced proximity, and found family romance in an interconnected series. It features a golden retriever hockey star and the reserved meteorologist he falls for. It includes spice, banter, and a guaranteed happily ever after that will have you swooning.
Forecasting The Forward by Jennifer J. Williams 4/5⭐ 2,5/5🌶️
This was a sweet and cute love story about a hockey captain and a chief meteorologist! I loved that both main characters are in their 30s, making their dynamic feel relatable. Their relationship is healthy and free of any misunderstandings or third-act breakups, which was so refreshing to see. The family drama the FMC faces adds an interesting layer to the plot, and I adored how the MMC was so smitten with her right from the start.
Jacob, the new captain of the Denver Wolves, has this charming, golden retriever vibe that instantly draws you in. When he first meets Becca, he’s instantly smitten, but Becca is a bit more guarded. She’s not one to easily trust others and tends to keep her distance from athletes. Both of them have had tough childhoods with horrible family, but their personalities are like yin and yang. Jacob is outgoing, honest, and an open book, while Becca is more reserved, dealing with anxiety and self-doubt brought on by her family.
I loved how Jacob fell for Becca hard and fast, but what stood out to me was his patience and understanding. He knows she needs time to open up and trust him, so he never rushes things. Instead, he consistently shows her that she can rely on him. Becca’s struggles felt real, and I admired her journey toward achieving her dreams and doing what she loves. It was such a joy to watch her gradually lower her walls and let Jacob in.
If you're looking for a quick, light read with a sweet romance and some spice, this book is the perfect choice! I'm also excited about the other characters and looking forward to reading their stories!
Hockey romance where he stands up to her family? Yes please! Loved the fake marriage, how protective the MMC was and how the FMC was a chief meteorologist, how cool! Their chemistry was great, and I love that neither of them are very trusting, but they learned to trust each other.
My only issue was the pacing. The first 1/3 was over a couple days, but the last 2/3 was over a longer period of time and I wish the timelines were more consistent.
4.5 ⭐️ 📕: Forecasting The Forward by Jennifer J. Williams Why You’ll Love This Book!! * Hockey Romance * Marriage of Convenience * Forced Proximity * "Who hurt you?" * Golden Retriever Hockey Star MMC * Man Obsessed * Found Family * Reserved Meteorologist FMC
Becca is a local meteorologist that is loved by the community.. She loves her dog and books she has been burnt so she isn’t really looking for a relationship unless it’s in a book she’s reading.. Jacob is a pro hockey player and loves his guinea pig pigs.. these two don’t click right off unless it’s in the app and they don’t know he each other lol gotta love that part but when Becca needs him in real life he shows up like no one has before for her total swoon worthy..
This book was the best representation of two homebodies that have very public careers find their peaceful hea. What a fantastic book boyfriend jax was. He definitely fell first. From their very first meet cute on the street. They both had lots of baggage from their childhood. But what romance does not. It's a right of passage for their tragic baggage from childhood morph into something better when the time is right. Becca is a very popular meteorologist and Jacob is the beloved hockey player. Becca has a horrible family. Jacob is protecting her from her horrible family by marriage on convenience. What they both knew is that they would both evolve into a great long-term marriage. But some of the bumps along the way are hard but in romance reads not unexpected. I enjoyed nerdgirl and stick guy finding out who they are and giving the author credit for bringing up the fact that algorithm played a role in their finding one another. It should also make you realize that these apps have a way of monitoring you! I live with a tech guy and married him. So as much as I said I can't take another hockey romance this one did me good. I enjoyed this couple immensely and can't wait for more characters to find their hea!

Wow this one was a wonderful addition to the series. I loved the last one and loved this one. I really enjoyed the story and how it was written. The characters are wonderful you can really tell who they are by the writing. I would recommend this book and series. I can’t wait to read the next one!
Marriage of convenience is one of my favourite tropes and this book hit it out of the park (or shall I say put the puck in the net lol). Between the marriage always being real on Jacob’s side, him automatically being a simp when she calls him husband, and him letting out his feral side every time he calls her mine, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Becca is an introvert who understandably takes time to get her bearings. Her family is atrocious and she has to work through the negative thoughts and self-doubt they imparted on her. It was so satisfying to see her realize that she could trust Jacob to treat her right.

I received an ARC from the author via Luna Literary in exchange for an honest review.
Arc Review First off i would like to thank Jennifer for the opportunity to read & review this gifted E-Arc.
Becca & Jacob Im OBSESSED! Like im feral for these two so bad. I absolutely adore them so freaking much (i wanna say the the other F-bomb so bad instead 🤪) like sign me up as the fan club leader. I absolutely adore how refreshing and real Becca is and how she calls things and isn't afraid to take her life into her own hands and do what she wants. I love how Jacob is so soft and patient with Becca & how he goes after his dreams and isn't afraid to hide his feelings. These two are such a breath of fresh freaking air and the banter and spice and just everything is absolutely perfect. I couldn't stop giggling at points till i was crying from laughing so hard.
5/5 Recommend this book. This is my first book by Jennifer and i can absolutely say i will continue to read her work, From the way she has you laughing to the rough topics that she hand with respect and sensitive and just did a wonderful job of writing. Im a huge fan now i can't wait till read more by her.
This book could have been perfection. Could. Have. Been. But nope. Way too many references to his sexual history -- a lot of which were in conversations with the heroine. She, of course, has limited experience and, what there was of it, was lacking. *eye roll* While he, of course, has an extensive -- and very satisfying -- line of conquests to think back on. *gag* Tack on that I now, with almost certainty, can guess the author's political views due to some thoughts given through the Hero's POV, and I'm so disappointed.
The love story between Becca and Jacob is very sweet and romantic. I really loved their connection. It was genuine and realistic. Plus I also liked that they supported each other. Becca and Jacob were so black cat and golden retriever energy. Jacob thinking the world of Becca basically since the moment they met was incredibly sweet. I love a man down bad for his woman. Becca has walls around her heart, understandably so, and it was nice to see her slowly take them down for Jacob. Their romance was the best combination of sweet and emotional. This made their dynamic fun to read.
Both characters had bad childhoods. I liked that the author did not shy away from the effects that can have on an adult but also how people can overcome that type of trauma.

“No darlin’. All I want is you.” 🥹😭
I’m emo. Really, really enjoyed this and I think the story and writing only got better as the book went on!
Jacob (Jax) is a pro hockey player who literally runs into Becca, a chief meteorologist in the city they both live within Colorado. This book is filled with adorable and hilarious text banter, just the right amount of spice, family drama, and a solid plot! Seriously am so excited to continue on with this series 😊
I’m loving these hockey players. I love how different they are and can’t wait to read each of their stories. This time falling in love with Jacobs and Becca was easy. Love how they first met and fall in love. Marriage of Convenience is one of my weakness tropes. I love how obsessed he became with her. The “my wife” moment was so good, possessive and swoon worthy too. Love how he comes for her every time she needs him. And the funny moments are amazing too. Great story, can’t wait for the next one.
Jacob and Becca's story was fun and fast-paced! I loved the banter between the two characters and the push and pull they had.
My favorite part of the story was definitely the growth of each character as they confront their pasts and become closer! I also really loved that Jacob was posessive and super protective of Becca!
The tropes were totally some of my favorites and I can't wait for the next book in the series!
I really loved the characters in this book! Becca was an amazing woman who I could relate to especially since I kinda see traits of Autism in her even though it’s not stated she is. Jacob was just an absolute amazing golden retriever man who was just so smitten for Becca. This book had me giggling soooo much, my legs were kicking at the humor! It was so cute watching them fall in love and the plot twist was very nice and definitely satisfying how it got resolved! The spice was SPICING like ah he was so considerate!! I definitely can’t wait for the second book!!
When you read the description and it says the FMC is not your typical meteorologist, the author isn’t lying. Becca is definitely one of a kind and her character really grabs your attention from the start. She didn’t have an easy life growing up and even now as an adult because well her family is wacko controlling!! Even though she lives hundreds of miles from them, they are trying everything to get her to come back. That is the second to last thing in her mind right now, the first is romance, especially with athletes. Instead she is determined to concentrate on weather and message with the one person who gives her some piece of mind and makes her laugh, StickUM92. He has this way to make her feel okay and while they never met she has this idea of who he is in mind. She never imagined he would be the hockey player that crashed into her life and saved her in so many ways.
I’m an avid reader and have been since reading romance books since I was a teenager, but to be honest I had never heard of this golden retriever vibe thing going in romance books. I just thought they were talking about a dog. With this book (and with the help of the author so thank you) I know get it and the MMC in this book, Jake fits it definitely!! He is now the captain of the NHL team Denver Wolves, he has charm, his eyes capture your full attention and he just has this complete feeling of comfort. He is also a little out of character for a hockey player, he has guinea pigs, 6 of them. What guy has guinea pigs??? He hasn’t been looking for romance but when he meets Becca one day quite by accident he is drawn into her. He realizes after a little while there might be more of a connection than both of them think…is she his NerdGirl1025?
This book is not for everyone I can tell you that because it does deal with a few serious issues that can bring problems to some people, including stalking, harassment, violence, controlling, abuse and more. But if you are okay with those things then definitely READ IT. I laughed so hard at some points, may or may not have had a few sniffs and just loved it from beginning to end. Loved that there were no break ups because of someone interfering, that a certain character was put in their place and together the couple was able to work through it all to get the HEA they both definitely deserved.
Thanks to the author and her team for an ARC for my honest opinion.
Ok…I loved this. I loved this so much. Such a fun and sweet book. Just one of those books that makes you want to curl yo and giggle and smile your way through it.
Becca…beloved community meteorologist. She’s the definition of introverted , but with good reason. Like hasn’t been kind to her. Her family is LITERALLY the WORST! (If abusive families are s trigger for you, be warned. This family is a piece of work). Her love life has been a series of crazy dates and unhinged men and she’s at the point where the only man she can trust are her book boyfriends. Correct Becca…Same.
One day while out and about she LITERALLY runs into the new Captain of the cities hockey team…Jacob…or as everyone knows him, Jax. Heart of gold, literal golden retriever , guinea pig dad 🥹. He is instantly smitten. But , Becca keeps it moving…not really interested in athletes or dating for that matter.
They literally RUN INTO EACH OTHER AGAIN! The universe was working extra hard that day haha. But again. No dice. Until friends of theirs set them up on a blind double date and things just go haywire. Becca is NOT impressed and could really care less about Jax. Poor Jax is dying at how poorly things went. Wanting to figure out a way to make it up to her.
But, there’s a twist. While IRL they are more like enemies…on an anonymous app, unbeknownst to them, they have been talking to each other nonstop and have a genuine connection. So when Becca reaches out needing a quickie wedding to help with a family situation , Jax is there without question to help. And their secret is brought to life. But trust me when I say, this marriage is ANYTHING but fake for Jax. He’s all in from day one.
As they spend more time together , Becca sees that with her, Jax isn’t Jax…he’s Jacob…the guy from the app…sweet , caring, and so supportive. She can’t help falling for her husband…and when she does….the SPICE! 🥵🥵 I’m a firm believer that these golden retriever MMCs truly are the filthiest and I’m HERE FOR IT! All in all, super fun, super sweet and definitely the right amount of spice 😉

ARC Review!! Firstly, I want to thank Mrs Jennifer J. Williams for the opportunity to ARC read such a fantastic book! It was truly my honour to read it and I enjoyed every second of getting to know Becca and Jacob. 🫶🏽
Now on to the REVIEW!
BECCA
Becca, sweetheart. You’ve been through so much, some of which I relate, while some of which truly makes me want to strangle your family because what type of monsters make a gem like you feel so small? You are extremely strong and you keep on fighting no matter what storm comes your way (storm, get it! Cause she’s a meteorologist!!) I love you much. Sweet, daring, curious 👀 (IYKYK) YOU!
Now to Jacob!
JACOB
Saying this man is the STANDARD is just absurd! He created the fucking STANDARD! He elevated the fucking STANDARD, he dominated the fucking STANDARD! (Ahem…..Pardon my language 😁) He isn’t just a green flag, he’s a whole green galaxy! He’s so patient and kind and endearing. He does everything at her pace and never fails to bring a smile to my face! (Hey, that rhymed!) (Like seriously, this man brought her favourite coffee order the literal third day of meeting her!) And then the attention to detail he shows when it comes to her! GOD! “𝙄 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬, 𝙙𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙡, 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙘𝙖 𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙮 𝙚𝙣𝙙-𝙜𝙖𝙢𝙚. 𝙎𝙝𝙚’𝙨 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙞𝙩.“ Christ! This mannnnnnn! I’m so happy I met him. My first green flag book boyfriend!
All in all, I’m in LOVE with this book (and Jacob!) and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to ARC read! Obviously five stars ⭐️!!
I think my only least favourite part of this whole book was Becca’s sorry excuse of a family. If you want a visual of how bad they are, envision Matilda Wormwood’s family. Then double it by 100. Neglectful mother, abusive father, and a jackass for a brother.
𝑻𝒐 𝑱𝒆𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒇𝒆𝒓 𝑱. 𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒎𝒔 Thank you so much for writing this book and introducing me to hockey romance! (I had no idea what I was missing!) you are such an incredible writer! The amount of times your words made me laugh, swoon, and giggle is an unholy number. Love you for that! 🩷🩷🩵🩷🩷

This wonderful story begins with these characters unexpectedly running into one another, you know the meet cues from movies, this is that in the beginning or so we thought. I think it’s called a coincidence or a synchronicity either way Becca and Jacob meet because she literally runs into him.
Becca, our FMC is your favorite local meteorologist with a big brain and closed off heart. She has her little bubble consisting of Thunder, her dog, her books and mostly keeping to herself. This is due to her having stalkers in the past. She is closed off and weary of most individuals. Not to mention her family was absolutely horrible to her while growing up. This is your warning if family members being toxic towards you is a trigger you might want to read with caution.
Jacob, our MMC is a famous hockey star just trying to keep a low profile and take care of his guinea pigs pigs. Jacob has a strained relationship with his mother because, well, she only reaches out when she wants something from him and sends him gifts he really doesn’t like for his birthday.
These two characters throughout the book are messaging on an app created within the book without knowing they are which by the way made me kick my feet. The interactions between these two were genuine and heartfelt unlike the physical interactions they encounter when Jacob tries to make up for being an ass to Becca. Until Jacob figures out the woman he has been hanging out with is indeed the woman on the app. He reveals himself and she ghosts him.
Becca finally reaches out when she needs Jacob the most and without hesitation Jacob is there. Jacob is a walking green flag. While Jacob helps Becca with her family they find solace in one another. Jacob certainly falls first & is committed to the ‘fake marriage’ being real from the start.
If you enjoy a walking green flag who loves animals & protecting their wife this book is for you.

Forecasting the Forward by Jennifer J. Williams Mile High Sports #1
Fun, thought provoking, immersive read that grabbed me and then held on till the last page ~ First time reading this author but it won’t be my last!
What I Liked: * Jacob Mitchell: professional hockey player, only child, difficult childhood, good friend, leader, problem solver, strong, athletic, nearing the end of his professional life, wise about money, has interesting pets, attracted to Becca * Rebecca Stephens: meteorologist, difficult childhood, word filter sometimes missing, professional, bright, dedicated, dog owner, needs time to process, aversion to athletes…especially hockey players…until Jacob changes her mind * Getting to know some of the athletes and coaches that may show up in future books of the series * The the texting that took place before Jacob and Becca actually meet…and then continues afterward * How open Jacob is and his ability to get Becca to open up – in more ways than one * That I became involved with the characters and was rooting for them to find a way to be together * The way Jacob was there for Becca when she had to attend a family funeral…and what transpired afterward * That I could see the two main characters together as they were well matched and perfect fro oen another * Knowing that there are more books to look forward to in the series
What I didn’t like: * Who and what I was meant not to like * The difficulties both main characters experienced related to their families * Thinking about how “puck bunnies” and other groupies and how warped their thinking must be
Did I like this book? Yes Would I read more in this series? Definitely
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
A fun, flirty, highly engaging, and crazy delightful hockey romance! Jacob and Becca are just absolute dynamite on the page together and from the moment they collide in a rather charming meet cute it’s on and it’s fabulous. It leans into some seriously perfect humor, there’s a dash of fate and really mild stalking with Jacob suddenly being literally everywhere Becca is, and the perfect rescue/marriage of convenience that amps it all up and smashes Jacob’s will to keep his hands to himself and let Becca set the pace to smithereens. It has the literal perfect Golden Retriever hero who just nails protective, mine, and swoon, plus he has guinea pigs and the way he is with them will charm the heck out of you, Becca is the perfect sexy smart girl with a past that has you feeling protective too and you love her to pieces, Becca’s shady family serves up the drama, and all Jacob’s hockey friends keep you on your toes and in stiches, in a read that you absolutely could not love more and is thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. Good stuff, this read is jam packed with good stuff! I had a blast reading it, I love both main characters, the plot stays fun even when it’s emotional or when Becca’s shady family starts getting shadier and way crazier, there’s a few twists, and a whole lot of adorableness. Jacob just has you eating out of the palm of his hand with the way he pursues Becca, the support he gives her, he has that almost boyish charm that you eat up and he falls first spectacularly. I love the way Becca just blossoms the longer she’s around Jacob, she grows and finds a little self confidence and it’s really great to see, she deserves it. Just a read I highly recommend that gives you a fantastic romance!
“Forecasting the Forward” is the kind of romance that wraps you in a cozy blanket of emotions, then sets your heart racing like a slapshot on the ice. This delightful blend of hockey heat, unexpected tenderness, and laugh-out-loud charm gave me all the feels—and then some.
At the center is Becca, a socially anxious meteorologist who hides her soft heart behind her public-facing TV persona. Her inner monologue is so relatable and real, I felt like I was catching up with a friend over coffee. Then there’s Jacob Mitchell—star forward, local heartthrob, and surprisingly... guinea pig dad? Yes, really. Jacob is golden retriever energy personified, with the kind of earnest affection and unwavering loyalty that makes you want to climb into the pages and hug him (and his guinea pigs).
The chemistry between Becca and Jacob simmers from the first chaotic meet-cute, but it’s the way their relationship evolves through forced proximity and the classic marriage-of-convenience trope that truly shines. The emotional stakes rise when Jacob steps up to protect Becca from a toxic family situation, and what starts as pretend quickly becomes something undeniably real.
This story delivers all the tropey goodness—fake marriage, found family, opposites attract—with an extra layer of depth and vulnerability that elevates it from feel-good fluff to a full-on emotional journey. It’s spicy, swoony, and filled with banter that had me grinning like an idiot.
Jacob is the walking green flag we all dream about, and Becca? She's the kind of heroine who proves that quiet strength is still strength.
Whether you're a hockey fan or just in it for the slow-burn sweetness, Forecasting the Forward will warm your heart and make you believe in love that’s both unexpected and utterly perfect.
Was thrilled to receive this as an ARC copy and am happy to review it.
**Some spoilers ahead!**
What I liked - I liked the two main characters: the FMC was sweet and shy and came with a ton of baggage. The MMC was outgoing, a gentleman, and had his own baggage. I loved their chemistry! They each had quirks that added endearment and personalities that added a real life element.
What I didn't like - For me, a pet peeve in any romance book (or any book for that matter) is when the romance develops in 2 pages. Love at first sight I can understand and don't mind, but even then, nothing happens overnight, especially not with the trust issues that the FMC supposedly has. The romance here was rushed and not really developed before they were just married and moving in together. It's like, wait what?
I did not care for the fact that there were elements in the store that were mentioned but that either served no real purpose (mentioning the jerk hockey player and his queen bee girlfriend or the station manager who had the weird run in with her), or weren't utilized as well as they could have been (their online chat, her friendship with Danica, or their parental relationships ). Both things could have been used to really further the story but were mostly just casually mentioned. The FFC and her family had issues, which the story centered around, but really, there was no deep dive, no scaffolding...just family being mean and angry. The hatred her family feels is excessive and abrasive and does not really seem justified despite the secrets revealed later.
Overall, I didn't hate this story. Honestly. I just feel like it had a lot of missed potential.

4.5 stars I have been in a book slump, and this book truly pulled me out of it. This book was AMAZING!! It had everything I needed- two relatable main characters, adorable pets, and marriage of convenience, hurt/comfort, and sports romance tropes!
Becca, a meteorologist, book lover, and dog mom meets Jacob a famous hockey player, guinea pig dad, and homebody. At first, they don’t hit it off but unbeknownst to them, they have talking together on an app through hidden identities. They relate through their struggles of family issues and dating. Once their identities are revealed Becca is hesitant to continue to see Jacob, but when she needs him in real life, he shows up like no one has before. I LOVED these main characters. They are both famous for their jobs, but homebodies to the core. I related to Becca as she is an introvert, avid reader and has a dog! She is broken down by her terrible family day by day, but she has the strength and resilience to stand up to them. Jacob is the perfect book boyfriend/husband! He is all in when they form an alliance against her family and get married! He is protective of Becca, caring, sweet, and patient with her. He goes after his dreams and isn’t afraid to hide his feelings for her. I loved when he stood up to her family and ruined them. Also, when Becca is the only one to call him Jacob, when everyone else calls him Jax 😍The banter and spice was fantastic, and I loved how mature these two main characters were. And the best part there is no third act breakup. This was my first book by this author, and it was absolutely fantastic- the detailed and driven plot, the relatable and refreshing main characters, and my favorite tropes. Thank you Luna Literary for the ARC for an honest review!🌪️
I found this book and a new to me author due to a mention in a newsletter and I’m so glad I did.
This story features two main characters who despite having miserable families have turned out to be successful. Jacob/Jax is a guinea pig loving professional hockey player who is equally happy hanging out with his teammates and friends as he is staying in for a quiet night at home with his beloved pets. When he accidentally runs into Becca the first time she grabs his attention and interest. The second chance meeting with her has him making an effort to get to know her.
Becca is a nerdy chief meteorologist who is a bit socially awkward with a limited social circle due to severe emotional abuse from her parents and older brother (they are despicable and cruel people). She doesn’t have a good opinion of any professional athletes and jumps to a very wrong impression of who Jax is when she first meets Jim’s
I loved how Jacob/Jax was so willing to make an effort to win Becca’s attention and that he was so patient with her. He is a fantastic golden retriever book boyfriend with enough of a bad boy, dirty talking side to make things hot and steamy! Loved how he connected with Becca and brought her out of her shell and gave her confidence to become comfortable enough to stand up for herself.
The marriage of convenience may have started as a way to protect Becca, but I loved how Jacob saw it as an opportunity to win her for forever and boy did he start strong.
5⭐️’s I’ve reread this book three times already. That should tell you everything. This book has lived rent-free in my head since I first read it. Jacob and Becca’s love story is everything I didn’t know I needed, low-drama but deeply emotional, filled with soft moments, mutual respect, and the kind of connection that just feels right.
This book was such a great example of two introverts, both in the spotlight in their own ways, finding comfort, love, and that quiet kind of forever in each other. Becca, the well-known meteorologist, and Jacob, everyone’s favorite hockey star, both come with some serious emotional baggage from their pasts, but honestly, when does a romance not come with childhood wounds? It’s practically a requirement. Watching them slowly work through it and find something steady and healing together was just so fulfilling.
The marriage of convenience didn’t feel like a plot device, it felt natural for where they both were in life. It was the safest next step for two people who knew deep down they’d be better with each other, even before the love caught up.
Also… can we talk about Jax? Total book boyfriend material. He fell hard and first, and from their very first meet-cute on the street, I was already in. I loved his quiet protectiveness and how steady he was for Becca. He saw her, really saw her, and made sure she never had to face her toxic family alone again. I loved this couple so much.

Overall, I liked this book. Becca has emotional baggage that causes her to be reserved and cautious, that along with her analytical brain she questions Jacob and her own feelings. While she is slower to fall, she still falls ahead for Jacob and is accepting and protective of him in a way he hasn’t had before. Jacob was almost perfect…He falls first and hard, is super sweet, protective, and is a dirty talker! But above all else he is patient and understanding with Becca’s reservations and feelings. I could have done with much less of his past sexual conquests, especially as a lot of it was discussed with the FMC. Once or twice would have been fine and acceptable but this gave me the YUCK! I loved Becca and Jacob’s pets! I’ll always love a dog in a book. And while I’ve seen dog dads, cat dads, even plant dads, I was surprised and enjoyed Jacob being a guinea pig dad! I liked the “You’ve Got Mail” anonymous pen pals in this book but I’m glad it wasn’t overwhelming or even the focal point. If you love “my wife” and even “my husband” moments this book has it! I enjoyed the novelty of the drama in the this book, it came from a different angle and while it was a little soapy it worked.
I’ve only read one other book by this author but I loved how her series and characters overlap!
Thank you so much to the author for sending me the eARC in exchange for an honest review!
Forecasting the Forward follows chief meteorologist - Becca Stephens - who ends up in a whirlwind fake marriage with NHL player and Guinea pig enthusiast Jacob Mitchell to save her from her family.
I adored Jacob and Becca’s relationship, it was so cute to read and see how smitten they were with one another. I, especially, loved the golden retriever energy of Jacob when it came to Becca.
Their chemistry was off the charts and I loved how they bounced off one another.
I found the book to be very fast paced and the chemistry was good but I did feel like it was rushed and there wasn’t much build up. Plus, Becca felt like a pushover - and kept saying yes to many things and felt like she was just following it for the ride. I also wasn’t a massive fan of the conflict of this book - the brother and the family drama rubbed me up the wrong way… and it felt like there was too much drama for how short the book was.
Regardless, I did enjoy this read and cannot wait for more to come! I loved the background characters like Levi and Grant and I’m hoping that they’ll have their own books in this series too!
If you love forced proximity, fake marriage and sports romance - this is the one for you!
I loved Jacob!! A true golden retriever but very d1rty where required. He was truly amazing throughout the story. He is a Hockey player, genuinely good guy. Despite his upbringing he has found to positives in life. Oh and he is a father to 6 adorable Guinea Pigs hahaha. Becca is a meteorologist and an introvert, despite being on TV for weather in front of thousands. She has had the worst upbringing (TW should be checked) and has abandoned her family. They really were the worst. Although she is really trying to live her best life, she is still anxious and doesn't trust easy. I loved that they both chatted via this app not knowing anything personal about each other. They became good friends. In the real world she literally falls into his arm by accident and that's when their love story started. She doesn't like sports players they're all kind of red flags. But not our Jax, he is totally the opposite. I think it was love at 1st sight for him. Throughout the story life kismet keeps bringing them together. I absolutely loved how Jacob was there for her even when she didn't realise she needed someone. You just have to read the story and be prepared to fall in love with him. Wonderful story filled with emotions, heartbreak, love, found family, banter and some spice.
