John Darrel was Englands only major exorcist of his time and already had a bad reputation for it when in 1599 he and William Somers were both examined regarding the 1597 incidents detailed in this book. somehow it was determined that Somers' possession and Darrel's exorcism had been faked. this lead to excorcism being forbidden in england. Darrel spent a year in jail for it. and all remaining copies of this book were destroyed by the printer.
