Neo chose this one to practice reading and enjoy something on a Sunday morning. Farmer Brown has noticed that the farm is quiet when he goes to bed. Inside the barn, many of the animals are waiting for an egg to crack. Not sure what to expect, they are soon surprised with a new baby duck. However, there are some dramatic goings-on that no one expected, or will soon be able to tolerate. Neo laughed at the outcome of this book, but was also happy with the progress things took. He liked the pictures and hopes that others will enjoy as they learn to read.

Duck strikes again in author/illustrator team Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin's ninth picture-book devoted to the humorous (mis)adventures of the animals in Farmer Brown's barnyard. When Baby Duck finally hatches, after much anticipation on the part of the other animals, his incessant peeping is cute at first, until the farm residents want to go to sleep. Nothing they do seems to make the duckling sleepy, until finally Duck himself takes a hand, with effective but hilarious results...

Although I am a fan of these books, and am particularly fond of Duck himself, I found Click, Clack, Peep! a little thin, story-wise. There wasn't much to this one, and Cronin's use of onomatopoeia, something to be found throughout the series, somehow felt a little less effective than usual here. The artwork by Lewin was up to standard, as cute and expressive as ever, but all in all I found this one a little boring, and might even have given it a two or two-and-a-half star rating, had the final page not made me laugh out loud. Duck really is a character, and I enjoy his antics, even if I wouldn't want him near any farm I owned. Atypically, I've been reading this series out of order, so I know that subsequent entries were more to my liking than this one. Recommended primarily to determined young fans of Farmer Brown and his animal companions.

This book is more lyrical than the others in the series, and there's a fun twist at the end that my two-year-old thinks is hilarious.

Doreen Cronin is at it again with her click clack series with, "Click, Clack, Peep!". "Click, Clack, Peep! is funny book that an parent can relate to. In this book the mama duck has a baby chick and the baby will not stop crying. As any parent, the farm animals work together to try and let the baby go to sleep. In the hilarious ways that the animals work together the reader will always be entertained. This book is a great read aloud and children will appreciate the humor and wit that the farm animals provide.

Although this book is a series the readers do not have to read the first book, "Click, Clack, Moo!", which is great for readers to appreciate the book more because they already understand the humor and wit of the farm animals from the previous book, however Doreen Cronin does a great job as showing the animals' personalities throughout both books.

In "Click, Clack, Peep!" the illustrations show great facial expressions from the different farm animals and Doreen Cronin gives each animal a great personality in the book that makes it fun for the reader to go back and re-read the book and continuously find new things throughout the book. The text and illustrations go together in such a great way, and in some cases the illustrations will show the joke that the text doesn't tell explicitly, which makes it an easy read for children because they identify more with the illustrations rather than the text.

First sentence: Farmer Brown stuck his head out the window. The farm was too quiet. Everyone was watching the egg.

Premise/plot: Farmer Brown is in for a BIG, BIG, BIG surprise. The book opens with the farm animals anxiously waiting the arrival of a new duckling. The book closes with a funny surprise for Farmer Brown. What will the baby duck be like when he arrives?! How will the animals react?!

My thoughts: I really love these characters. I haven't read each and every title in the series. But I should, I really should. I loved this one. I thought it was very funny. I definitely recommend it.

Baby Duck has just arrived at the farm and all the animals are eager to welcome her... until she refuses to go to sleep.

Why I started this book: I love Cronin, and eagerly await any book from her.

Why I finished it: The book was clever and fun, but I thought that the adults would smile the most at this book until the surprise end. The kids will love the end.

Another of Cronin and Lewin's classic Click, Clack book. I liked the simple text and cute pictures in this one. I could successfully use this in my preschool program. The story line is entertaining and parents will certainly identify with this story.

This story takes place on a farm. On farmer Brown’s farm a baby duck hatched and all the other animals watched in excitement. The baby duck spent the rest of the day playing and making noise. As nighttime approached and all the animals on the farm got tired, the baby duck continued to peep. All of the animals tried to get the baby duck to be quiet by singing lullaby’s, lowering the shades, and knitting a blanket, but nothing worked. Duck then took maters in his own hands and had to find a way to quiet the baby duck without disrupting farmer Brown.
I thought this book was great and believe that young children would really enjoy it. What initially caught my eye was that this book was from the same authors that wrote the New York Times bestseller Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type. One literary element in the story that I enjoyed was how it included animal sounds. Children have practice with these sounds and including them in the book can give them more confidence when reading the story on their own. One design element that I enjoyed in the story was that the animal sounds were in different fonts and were sometime tilted. I believe that these two elements work together to create meaning because they make children interested in the story and it will make them want to read the story more than once. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and think that all young children would enjoy it.

If you’ve ever read Click, Clack, Moo you will enjoy this addition to Farmer Brown’s Farm story collection. This book is about a baby duck that has just hatched from his egg in Farmer Brown’s hen coop. The other farm animals are excited about the newest addition to their farm until…the baby duck keeps “peep”-ing . It starts to get late, and the other animals want to go to bed; they find that they have to sleep outside because the farm is just too loud with the new duck’s “peep”s. Eventually, Daddy duck finds the solution: he drives baby duck back and forth in Farmer Brown’s tractor until he finally falls asleep. Farmer Brown awakes to a silent, peaceful farm only to find that his gates have been run down by his tractor! This book would be fun to use in storytime because the children would enjoy making the various animal noises, including baby duck’s “peep”-ing. It is a nice and funny story that can be incorporated into various themes: Spring, farm animals, ducks, etc.

A cute book about remembering. Barnaby is a young little bunny that remembers everything! Or does he really? Silly Barnaby loses his glasses right on his own face. This book is a feel-good read. This funny story will appeal to children, being very relatable in many aspects. This will teach you to be able to laugh at yourself when you forget about something.
I found the illustrations to be very cute. This little bunny is shown running around his house in which he has made a little mess of. Every little thing that he forgets to do is very relatable to kids, like handwashing and misplacing clothes.
This is a book that kids would enjoy. It teaches us that we should be confident in what we are good at but also, we should be mindful in what we do. Getting over confident could cause us to make mistakes, like when Barnaby forgets to wear pants to school.

A baby duckling is born, but she will not go to sleep! The animals try everything until finally Duck is able to get to sleep. Phew! I like the illustrations in this book because they are bright and look almost like they were made with water colors. The repetition in the book also makes it easier for young readers to follow along and join in. If I were to use this in my classroom, I would probably read it aloud and then have a craft project that followed. There is a craft project that I found on Pinterest that lets students make a tiny egg with a pop out that looks like the chick is being hatched. There are only a few steps to the project and it is simple enough for younger students to follow. I would probably use this book and the craft project in kindergarten and first grade, around springtime when ducklings and other baby animals are also being born.

The farm animals of Farmer Brown are bustling with excitement as they anticipate the hatching of a duck egg. But, that excitement soon changes to exhaustion as the animals must find a way to get the baby duck to stop “peeping” so they can get some rest. As usual, the animal’s success comes with a funny twist and surprise for Farmer Brown.
This book is recommended for ages 4 - 8, preschool - third grade. Anyone that is a fan of Doreen Cronin's Click Clack series will not be disappointed with this book. Here, she has done a wonderful job by including repeating words and phrases along with vivid picture clues that will help young readers master this book.

This picture book is about farm animals watching a baby duck hatch. By the time it hatched all of the animals were ready for bed besides the baby duck. Duck put headphones on the farmer and took baby duck on the tractor to help him fall asleep. In the morning when the farmer woke up, all of the animals were quiet watching the ducks because they fell asleep on the tractor and the farm was a mess. I love this story because it is silly and the illustrations are great. The pages are very colorful. It also can help children learn about animals and the different sounds they make. A trip to a farm would be a fun activity to go along with this book. The children could see different animals and maybe even watch a duckling hatch.

Contrary to other adult reviewers, my 19 month old does not believe that the book is formulaic and tiresome. He loves it every time we read it and "peeps" along at every page! But then again, we've only encountered two of these Click Clack books and we've loved them both. Apparently this is the ninth in a series. Considering how much my little one enjoys this book, it might be worth checking out the rest of the series!

A silly one my toddler suggested we get after reading it at daycare. One of the better ones in the follow up to Click Clack Moo (Loved that first one but have found the subsequent stories to be fairly lukewarm) this one has a baby duckling keeping everyone up at night with their peeping until the Duck takes matters into his own (silly) hands to get the duckling to sleep - no matter the consequences for the farm!

The use of literary devices throughout this entire book is so beneficial and allows teachers to use it as a mentor text. The onomatopoeia used throughout the book is worth noting because children find words like this intriguing. I know many kids learn the sounds animals make in response to learning the word, so this is just another way to reinforce that learning.

This story made me laugh. A new baby duck arrives on the farm, and when all the other animals are wanting to sleep, little duck peep, peep, peeps, and keeps everyone awake. Finally one has an idea of how to get the baby to sleep ... much to Farmer Brown's dismay when he wakes up in the morning. Funny. Great illustrations.

There’s a new baby duck on the farm and it won’t go to sleep. All the farm animals try one thing or another to no avail. Duck comes up with a solution!

Any parent who has had babies that had difficulty sleeping might identify with this funny story and may have solved their baby’s not sleeping in just the same way!

I usually expect low standards for early reader books, but this is my favorite of the Farmer Brown Barnyard series.

A new egg arrives. First the animals wait excitedly for it to hatch. A baby duck emerges and makes "Peep, peep, peep" noises. And never stops. They try to lull her to sleep but nothing works. Finally Duck has an idea.

A silly but fun addition to the world of Click Clack Moo. This book doesn't really have a very clear plot, but A. super duper loved the scene near the end where Duck has completely mowed down Farmer Brown's field in an attempt to make Baby Duck go nighty-night. Parents will appreciate that the struggle is real, haha.

This was a cute one. I’m surprised it wasn’t suggested when we first started speech therapy for my little. There’s a lot of animal sounds throughout the story to incorporate play with farm animal toys. If you have an early reader, having them jump in with the animal sounds is also good practice.

1- sentences per page. A story about a duck being born and all the animals trying different things to get the duck to sleep. And then finally the Big Duck turns on the tractor and gets the baby duck to sleep but Farmer Brown wakes up the next morning to a broken-down fence and crazy field. A lot of white space in illustrations but cute, soft images.
