The battle for the Vegas strip is done, but not without heavy casualties and broken loyalties. The crew has fulfilled their end of the bargain with the Vegas locals and cleared a path to Nellis Airforce Base where they hope to make contact with Kilo Company, but many challenges await them. They need to end to the Colonel’s atrocities. Dishonesty within the group and mental instability weakens the bonds of family, making them more vulnerable to the undead threat. One member will break an unspoken rule and thrust the entire group to the brink of self-destruction. Kilo is finally within reach, but if they are going to succeed they must push themselves harder, and run a little bit more.
“Fans of The Walking Dead are going to love this series. The characters are realistic and witty, the dialogue is great and the writing is quickly paced. The series should do well. Recommended.” ~ Weston Kincade, author of A Life of Death
Steve Kuhn is a former professional musician turned writer. Raised in Baltimore, Maryland and with a deep seeded passion for horror, he brings a refreshingly raw and witty style to his work. He has been featured in countless online publications as a critical reviewer and has spent the last three years crafting the epic zombie series, Dext of the Dead.

The last book in the series and I think it was the best. It showed characters at their best and at their worst.
There were so many twists and spins incorporated into this last installment that it was impossible to put down. A powerfully creative series written by Kuhn and I was not disappointed with any of it.
Once the group recovers from the Vegas incident and moves on to clear out the Nellis base, we get to see what kind of monsters truly exist among humanity. Despite the end of the world, that people could still be that evil, you begin to almost like the zombies more than some of the humans.
At Nellis, they are finally able to make contact with Kilo company and there are so many surprises that Nellis was just not a good place for them to be and they moved on as quickly as they could.
The group of course encountered many more struggles and close call situations. We were able to see characters continue to develop and Lilly is a tough little girl. I found her to be humorous and someone that I would definitely want on my side. We were able to delve into some of the depths of characters we hadn't before to understand more of why they did what they did.
Just when all hope is lost, a few more twists will keep you turning the pages. The ending was not what I was hoping for but it really completed the story of Dext and his group.
You will not be disappointed by picking up this series. It is fast paced and engaging. The fight scenes are well thought out and described in enough detail that you can get a visual. The characters are all easy to relate to and although some of the scenes are gory, terrible and just down right vile, it is all a reality of what I perceive would happen in the apocalypse.
I am looking forward to more work by this author and am a little bummed that there were only 5 books in the series....but I guess all stories have to end at some point!
This series is everything one can wish for. It had absolutely everything and was the best zombie book I have read and by far better than any zombie movie I have seen.
Stephen is an excellent author. He paints vivid pictures with his words letting you into his world. He masterfully makes you love his characters, especially Dexter, Kylee, Lilly and Cutty. These books would have been nothing without them. There were many other characters that were great addition to the story, but these were my favorites. Dexter is an intricate character who constantly develops in this series. He is someone I wouldn't mind being on my side and somehow he manages to keep the group going, without ever giving himself credit for it, nor loosing his own humanity.
There were lots of twists and turns that were not expected, skillfully weaving this web around the readers. The pace of these books are incredible, with the last one matching just beautifully. Not many authors of a zombie book will manage to elicit such strong emotions like Stephen has done with this book. Everything from anxiety, to fear and complete sadness. I admit at the end I had tears in my eyes. This book definitely didn't end the series as I expected.
I am sad that my journey with Dext and his crew is now ending.
Stephen is an incredible author and I will look for more books of his in the future. Thank you so much for sharing this incredible journey with me.
I have received this book from the author for an honest review.
I was given the book "we are the end" by Steve Kuhn in exchange for an honest review. Wow what a ending even had me crying I'm gonna miss the characters so bad.
Dext and the group find themselves having to run again, and their little group is down to just five members. Two of those members are from Vegas which was overrun by the dead. They managed to contact Fort Bragg but what they find out is not good news. They finally catch up to kilo company which sets in motion a mission to destroy the colonel once and for all. Will they succeed or will they all perish ? Who else will they lose?
What an ending it was amazing that's all I'm gonna say. Steve it was a pleasure reading the "Dext of the dead" series. Will definitely be checking out your website http://www.rundextrun.com/ to find out what's next in series need to read more. Anyone who's read this will understand the need for more. If you haven't read this series you need to it was brilliant with plenty of horror. It's worth every cent even better than the walking dead had me laughing at times too. I give every book 5 stars there's not a thing about the series I would change it's incredibly written.
FINALLY! This is the last book in "DEXT OF THE DEAD SERIES"
This book was great and well written. Though it is not the happy ending of triumph and love, it is ended.
I came to care for each character that I met along the way. This story shows the good side of humanity and the bad side. Each character had their own personality and flaws but all were someone you would meet in your everyday life. It made them easy to love and hard to lose. While there is a lot of triumph there is also a lot of hardship and sometimes you want to yell at Author, Steve Kuhn, for letting so many good guys die.
This entire series is well written and will keep you in suspense. Will our group of heroes make it? I guess you will have to read the books to find out.
