Book #3 takes the beloved mutt to new heights! Professor Kompressor's anti-gas formula causes Walter to blow up like a balloon and float away. Just when it looks as though Walter's paws may never touch ground again, he encounters a flock of butterflies in distress. Only Walter's warm wind can save them from an icy death.

Bought this for my adult daughter who has a farting french bulldog. This is just thoroughly entertaining. The illustrations alone are hysterical and the storyline....amusing. Great fun especially for boys who love bathroom humor.
I had to change my rating because I was informing the boys about this story and just the whole idea.. To Save The Butterflies! No, they didn't believe that this book actually exists. They thought I made it up. As If!
A co-worker told me about this book and how hilarious it was (because she has a dog with gas problems). I'm not saying it wasn't silly, because it was, and the illustrations are really interesting and unique in style, but the story just felt like it was beating a dead horse. There are so many books about farts that this one just felt like another one in the mix. Rough Weather Ahead for Walter the Farting Dog (2005) by three people (which is two too many to have thought up such a simple story so I'm not even going to mention them) and illustrated by Audrey Colman. Walter is a dog with gas, so much so he floats up in the air and finds a bunch of butterflies freezing, so he farts and they warm up... the end... Yep. And this is a series. Again, not saying this wasn't fun in places, but it just wasn't for me. Kids will probably love it. The illustrations were the only thing that really stuck with me. My rating - 1/5
I have to admit, I have heard about Walter the Farting Dog, but I am not sure I have read any of the books before. I bought this book with my great-nephews in mind and I am hooked! Rough Weather Ahead for Walter the Farting Dog by William Kotzwinkle, Glenn Murray and Elizabeth Gundy is a wonderful family storybook. Walter’s family is amazing! They love their dog even though he can clear a room and even melt the ice on butterfly wings!
The illustrations by Audry Colman really adds to the enjoyment and humor of this fiction children’s picture book! I think you really should grab a copy for yourself and have a good heart-warming laugh. Humor and animals sometimes go hand in hand and why not during story time?
Walter is back and he still has his farting problem. I saw this after reading the first book, Walter the Farting Dog, for Banned/Challenged book week. I didn't read how many times fart or farting is used in the book but it's in there. I still didn't care for the illustrations. They are kind of creepy to me but I think kids will love the story about poor old Walter.
Quite an abrupt ending. This is the fourth Walter book I have read, and I consistently like them less than the original. This one needed another paragraph or two to wrap it up without seeming like it just stopped randomly.
I am so embarrassed. This is not a book that I would ever share at a library storytime, but I sat back at my desk silently shaking and laughing at this book. I love Walter and his kind heart. I guess I think gas and farting are funny. I can't wait for the other ones to come in.
Fourth of five (so far) in the “Walter the Farting Dog” series! In this one, Walter’s family consults a certain Professor Kompressor, who touts himself as an expert in animal gas. After Walter’s emissions sends the gas-o-meter to the highest level ever seen, the Professor gives the family a special formula for Walter to eat, guaranteed to diminish and altogether rid him of his ubiquitous flatulence. Doesn’t seem to work, so Father decides he’s going to mix his own formula. Well, the farting does stop, but uh-oh, the gas remains within our canine hero, essentially turning him into a helium balloon. The rest of the story recounts Walter’s travels in the atmosphere and how he once again saves the day – already gave away too much, so the rest is for the reader to discover and take great glee in.
I must say I continue to be delighted by this series, and Audrey Coleman’s fanciful, very busy illustrations merit more than one looksee. Another four stars!
Despite the metaphysical implications of a serendipitous ending born of the almost Manichean conflict between the repulsiveness of Walter's affliction and its unfailing power for good, the real take-home point here is that good clinicians carefully monitor the entire course of treatment. _Rough Weather Ahead for Walter the Farting Dog_ also functions as a stark warning to those who would change their dosings without first consulting with a doctor.
45 months- not my favorite illustration style but I give the author credit for appealing to kids with potty humor and a unique idea. Lots of funny parts and creative humor even if it's all based around flatulance (insert eye roll and a smile).
Another fabulous book for my young children. They love this series and they love to fart their dog when the book says too. Again, this book is good for teaching character and what that means.
