Old Town, Chicago: Hub of culture, history, and home to a family of modern-day vampires that have resided there for over a century…
Abby Lawrence is a successful North Side realtor. When she shows a house to Ambrose Slater, of the renowned Slater’s Bakeries, she has no idea she’s about to become “addicted to love.” Unable to resist him, Abby is drawn to the handsome but sensitive hybrid vampire, who is a powerful mortal despite his vulnerability. As she witnesses the deterioration of his brother Stefan’s marriage to Heather, a regular woman like herself, Abby must decide if she can embrace the vampire lifestyle or give up the only man she’s ever loved. And Ambrose must choose whether to risk losing Abby’s love or setting her free, even if it kills him…
Old Town Nights is the story of two species of human beings who need one another in a special, intimate way. Added to the mix are the quirks of their colorful families, the rigors of operating a bakery, and the challenges of fitting into today’s ever-changing world.
Linda Lee Williams writes "contemporary romance with a paranormal twist." Her stories revolve around imperfect characters, their families and friends, and a host of life issues.
After living in Denver for several decades, Linda moved back to Chicago to be with family. An outdoor enthusiast, she enjoys hiking, biking, and birding. She loves critters of all kinds. During her journeys, Linda's called Maryland, Virginia, Illinois, Missouri, and Colorado home. Wherever she roams, she finds inspiration in her surroundings.

They aren't your typical vampire. They're not alpha males. They aren't vicious bloodsuckers. They aren't saving the world from demons.
No, they aren't any of these things. Linda Lee Williams takes a different spin. Her story of Old Town Nights has it's paranormal element, but other than being vampires, the issues are normal. Okay, not fully normal of course, because what's normal about vampires? Nothing, that's what.
Abby meets Ambrose and she's unaware of what he is. But he seems like a nice man. Then she learns the truth. Abby is drawn to him.
Old Town Nights takes readers on a journey into Amrbose and his family's life. They have their quirks, they have their problems, but they are an intriguing bunch of characters which I had a blast learning about.
This is the second novel by Linda that I've read. I have to say, she puts a unique spin in the paranormal/contemporary genre. She has a way of drawing me in and making me feel for the characters. Now I anxiously await the next one in this series, Sisters of the Night. Can't wait to see what's in store!
I have one word for this book...unforgettable. Old Town Nights is unlike any vampire romance I've encountered. Abby and Ambrose are such remarkable characters that you cannot help but adore them. The family dynamics in this story add a refreshing touch of normalcy. This book will make you question the way a paranormal romance should read. Linda Lee Williams' approach to the genre is touching and incredibly compelling.
Abby is a realtor with a pretty unsatisfying life until she meets Ambrose, who harbors his own hunger for her. Williams immersed me, as a reader, so fully into the story that I couldn't climb my way out. She made me care about the characters. I'll say it again. This book is completely unforgettable. You just have to read it!
Old Town Nights wasn't what I expected in a vampire book. It was a different approach that made "vampires" seem more normal. I absolutely loved it. I couldn't put it down and stayed up late to finish it. I'm not one for spoilers so I'll just say that if you love paranormal romances, this is a must read!
Old Town Nights is an adult paranormal romance. Think of an Adult Twilight mixed with The Cake Boss. Ambrose Slater and his family run the Slater Bakeries in Chicago. Abby Lawrence is a real estate agent.
Ambrose has been in love with Abby for several months, he's a gentleman but he has been stalking her. He sets up a house viewing appointment with her just to finally meet her, but his intentions are selfish.
Abby finds him very attractive, but when he takes matters into his own hands she is shocked by what she finds. Falling in love Abby is divided by her love for Ambrose and what she sees their future to be. The longer they stay together the harder it is for both of them until finally they make a fateful decision.
Have they done what is right or what is best for their future?
I liked this book because I'm a Twilight fan and a fan of The Cake Boss, it's ticks the boxes of a modern paranormal romance too.
A typical paranormal romance with a twist. A unique love story. Love the feelings that Abby & Ambrose have for each other. Had some anguish that had me in tears. If you like a unique love story give it a try.
Although vampires are not my usual reading genre this book came recommended, and I am so happy it did. From the first pages I was captivated by this fascinating, beautiful and gentle take on vampires. No violent or threatening behavior, no blood and gore, just a genuine love for each of their family members. As I progressed, the characters became real for me, and I truly cared what happened to them. I could also relate to their very real emotional conflicts. That the settings are often in the Chicago Slater family bakeries and coffee shops, makes it that much more enticing. Think cinnamon rolls and hot bread, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee… And have I said I cried? Yes, this realistic romance brought me to tears on a couple of occasions. And vampire babies? Too cute. The writing style and story line are very well presented, and I was actually disappointed when the story was over. I am just grateful to see that there are more books to follow this one. Well done, Linda Lee Williams!
Old Town Nights is the first book in the Blood & Company series. Ambrose Slater helps his family run a series of excellent bakeries in Chicago. Oh, and he's a vampire. But such a nice vampire. In this take on the vampire genre, the vampires are normal people who happen to have a blood disease. They live almost normal lives, no extra long lives, no can't go out in the sun, etc. They do have powers of persuasion and they do bite. Ambrose falls in love with Abby, a realtor, who he pretends to buy a house from, but is really setting up a situation where he will bite Abby and make her addicted to him. His conscience bothers him both before and after because he doesn't want to coerce her into anything against her will. Ambrose's family is the focus of the book. Some of them are nice people, some not so nice, but all are interesting in how they approach their vampirism. It's a fresh and intriguing approach to the vampire genre that I really enjoyed.
Kudos to Ms. Williams for doing such a stellar job of creating a new vampire myth … one so completely plausible and easy for this reader to accept that I found myself wondering if perhaps Ms. Williams has inside knowledge. (Could it be she’s got it right?) The heart and soul of this novel, though, are bound up in the relationships amongst friends, family members, and lovers. Not many books have coaxed tears from my eyes and brought a lump to my throat, yet Old Town Nights did just that. The characters and their emotional lives became viscerally alive to me. Such is the power of Ms. Williams’ prose. I highly recommend this book. It is intensely romantic, perceptive, touching, and entertaining. Everything a novel should be. Needless to say, I look forward to reading the rest of this series.
