New York Times bestselling author of Life as I Blow It Sarah Colonna is back with a hilarious, honest look at life in her late thirties, in all its messy, pants-missing glory.
How does a gal with a successful career, great friends, and a razor-sharp wit find herself wandering pants-less through the hallways of a casino hotel in Iowa on New Year's Eve?
Ask Sarah Colonna.
Has Anyone Seen My Pants? is a laugh-out-loud trip around America (and Mexico!) with Sarah as she braves crying in nail salons, mother-daughter road trips, Iowan casinos, and single-shaming resorts. From a fling-gone-wrong to friend breakups and a new romance, Sarah's signature wit and sharp observations take you on a journey at once so deviously funny and surprisingly compassionate that it might just steal your heart, not to mention your pants.
Sarah is currently a roundtable regular on the hit late night talk show “Chelsea Lately,” and has been for several years. She has also served as a full time writer on “Chelsea Lately,” as well as a producer, writer and star of the show’s spin-off scripted series “After Lately,” also on E!
She can be seen in Michael Rosenbaum’s new movie “Back in the Day,” alongside Rosenbaum, Nick Swardson, Harland Williams, Morena Baccarin and many others. The movie is set to release on demand January 7th and theaters January 17th, 2014. She also recently appeared in Diablo Cody’s latest movie, “Paradise.”
Her first book, “Life as I Blow it,” debuted at number 5 on the New York Times Bestseller list, followed with a sold out book tour in several major cities in the country. It was also sold to NBC to be developed for television with producers Happy Madison two years in a row. Her second book, “Has Anyone Seen My Pants,” is due for release in early 2015.
Sarah continues to tour across the country headlining comedy clubs regularly. She’s appeared on several other TV shows, including “The United States of Tara,” “Scare Tactics,” and “Monk,” and was a semi-finalist on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.”
When I first started this book I was admittedly a little biased and not in a good way. I hated the cover and the title, and was worried that this would turn out to be about another female comic who relied on her “slutty antics” for entertainment.
This book did feature mostly dating stories, but luckily they were not of the Margaret Cho variety. While not hysterical, I would say I chucked about half a dozen times while reading this book. I found the author to be relatable in terms of typical girl problems. I guess we never truly outgrow them. Overall this is an entertaining read about a female comic's search for The One.

Sometimes one needs to take a break from serious reading and read something that is an easy and fun read. Sarah Colonna, a stand up comedian, provides this in her book.
Sarah gives an insight into her life, especially her love life. Although financially secure, having great friends (female), and a great job, Sarah seems to have a problem when it comes to male companions. Sarah seems to move from relationship to relationship with little to show for it, except for a little sex, and maybe an entertaining evening of eating and drinking (mostly drinking). She has dated such notables as; Who Farted, Major League Ballplayer, Hot Ripped Guy, and Jayson with a Y.
Sarah, because she spends so much time with her female friends, thinks that she is being labeled a lesbian. This does cause some problems when going out to eat or when she goes on vacation with a female friend and shares a hotel room.
Her love life has become so serious that one of her friends sets her up on a dating site and does the ground work for Sarah. Sarah just has to show up for the date, this does work out too well.
The book all boils down to, Will Sarah ever find a lasting relationship with the man of her dreams.
This is a book that looks at the funny side of relationships and the search for the one true companion. Some caution must be exercised due to the sexual and language content in the book.
I read this book because I wanted to be able to vote in the Goodreads Choice Awards poll, and I had not yet read any of the books in the humor category. It looked like the one I would most enjoy. I used to tune into Chelsea Lately, and if Sarah was sitting at the roundtable I would watch the entire show. I was entertained by her laid back style.
The book was ok, but if I hadn’t already LIKED the author, I don’t think I would have cared for it. I probably should have listened to it as an audio book, because I think I needed the cadence of her voice.
Unfortunately, I can’t vote for it as being the best humor book of the year.
Total guilty pleasure and not within the realm of anything I normally read, but I needed something light and funny. I chose this because, while I am not huge on attending comedy shows, I saw Sarah Colonna about 10 years ago and even had the opportunity to meet her afterward - not just at the book signing she had, but at a small, fairly empty bar that we happened to see her at after the show. She was so down to earth and real. While this book does have many raunchy stories, there is a lot of substance too. She knows how to be funny and laugh at herself by recounting some embarrassing dating situations, but also adds in many serious aspects of a woman trying to figure out life in her thirties. It was an added bonus to listen to her tell her story on audiobook.
Yes, this is yet another comedian I fell in love with thanks to Chelsea Lately. She does not disappoint in this book. Sarah Colonna is the most relatable person whose book I've ever had the pleasure of reading. She's real, and everything she talks about is a universal experience...almost.
From bad first dates to awkward sex, Sarah Colonna pretty much covers any and all aspects of being single in your thirties. She also covers what it's like to lose the ones you love, from cats to grandparents, and how differently we all deal with that grief. (Skip Chapter 7 if you're an animal lover, at least the end of it. You'll know when you get there.) It isn't the typical "slutty" antics I had expected from the title, Chelsea Handler wrote a much more graphic account. It was a real story, and it had a real ending.
Colonna can pretty much make a joke out of any situation, something I thought only Chandler Bing could pride himself on. Not only does she make you laugh, though, she also makes you feel. She makes you reminiscent of those bad dates, that now we can laugh at, while also making you feel absolutely content with exactly where you are.
This was a good book for me to finish just before New Years. Not only did she specifically talk about spending New Years Eve alone in Iowa, but just because of how she ended her book. She mentioned how her life was so different from when she started this book, and the ending wasn't anything that she, or her editor, had expected. But it got me ready to set myself up for 2018 even though I'm not ready for it.
Not gonna lie here folks but before I dove into this book, well, I had no fucking clue who the hell Sarah Colonna was. Nope, not a bit. However, that also didn't stop me from diving into this book. Nope, not one bit.
I have definitely been on a nonfiction/memoir kind of kick this year. So far I have loved (almost) all of them. Now Sarah's book is about her adventures throughout her thirties. For me, this scared/intrigued me because I'm 26... which is basically the new 30 (in four years). While reading her book, I kind of went onto the internet to google her and then I realized that I'm a hot freaking mess BECAUSE I did know who she was. I had the biggest brain fart ever because I remember her from Chelsea Lately - and that show was my jam and my shit!
Throughout the book you see that Sarah is more focused on her social life. Which is weird to me because wouldn't that be more important in your teens/twenties?? However, that could just be me. Right now I'm at the point that if I know I'm making plans with someone that ALWAYS cancels.. I know that I'm going to be sitting my ass in pajamas all day drinking whatever my hands find. I wont even attempt to shower or let the outside world greet me with it's presence. NO SOUL WILL SEE ME THAT DAY! This tradition will probably continue until I die.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. It definitely had it's funny moments - but not too funny like you're basically going to laugh your ass off, but it was enjoyable. I'm definitely going to look out for more of this comedian's stuff. Whether it's on TV or in another book.
This book was GR choice award nominee for best humor in 2015 and so I picked it up. Truth be told there aren't many comedy shows out there that would put a smile on my face so the disclaimer being I am probably a tough audience.
Having said that, I did chuckle perhaps 4 times during the reading of this book. For an almost 300 page book, that is a dismal proportion. Sigh. For those four times, I did want to like this book.
But in the name of humor, it does reek of white privilege in parts and there were way too many lacklustre chapters. Half the time I was like why is this in the book? Why do I want to know what the author thinks of this friend? It was pretty boring really and in a physical book I probably would have skipped it. I need to learn what's my problem in skipping pages in a kindle. I mean I know "how to" but choose not to. Go figure.
After finishing the book, I did google the author to find out her current relationship status and I can't tell you how happy that made me, for the author and also because I'm a hopeless romantic, but most importantly, because I did not want to read another desperate single woman story! Ugh.
Maybe if you know the author, you might be more invested in this book. I wasn't. If I was able to not finish books, I would have stopped reading it at around 26-30% but I have a problem of putting myself through torture and so I did. Also, some say it's better as an audiobook in case you want to try that instead.
I've been listening to a lot of funny, comic memoirs lately, all solid 4 stars. This one just raised the bar, and is a laugh out loud collection of anecdotes on the author's life as a comedian and single woman.
Elevated by descriptions of her warm relationships with her friends, her amusing Arkansas mom who works in a funeral home, and a tear-inducing story of the last days of her beloved cat, the book still has plenty of raunchy, raw humor and embarrassing sexual encounters. When she finally and unexpectedly meets someone who both appreciates her and has great abs, (a friend had warned her to stop dating men with six-packs,) her writing really captures the sweetness and excitement of this new relationship.
Highly recommended as an audiobook; the author hilariously and conversationally reads her book.
I love a funny book. I listened to it which made it really funny I think. Unlike People I want to punch in the throat I couldn't personally relate to most of these stories but still very funny!!
Strong 3.5. Desperately made me want margaritas and my own infinity pool at a resort in Cabo. This dating misadventure memoir by a comedian ends strong, featuring love with a Seattle Seahawk.
Dating adventures (or misadventures) of a thirty-something woman. This book was written by a comedian, and did have some laugh out loud moments. In this memoir, Colonna focused on her social life in her late thirties. I'm not very familiar with Colonna's work, but this was an entertaining read.
I have been a fan of Sarah Colonna since I saw her on Chelsea Lately. I bought her first book and enjoyed it. Last night, I got to see her perform in person and got to meet her as well. I bought a copy of her new book (this one) and she signed it and my copy of her first book that I brought with me. All I can say about this book is that if you're a fan of her, you love it. And if you're not, you should read it anyway.
I don't watch much TV, so I wasn't familiar with Ms. Colonna. I believe I purchased this during some Kindle deal. Anyway, I'm so glad I did. This nonfiction book is funny, insightful, and has a great pace. Other memoirs have boring spots with all the navel gazing, but not this one since there are numerous in-scene moments with action and dialogue. Dig into the life of a thirty-something comedian who has colorful friends, love interests, and family members.
There is some humor here, but not a lot. It's also a little sad, a little pathetic, and clearly written by a desperate woman. However to it's credit it does reveal how this woman, when in Mexico is discriminated by others, simply because she was traveling all alone, probably something all women experience at times. I made it through three chapters, before I bailed out.
I am always pleasantly surprised to read a book by a comedian that makes me laugh but also has some heart and honesty. Sarah Colonna is hilarious here, sharing stories and insights that are funny and genuine. A real treat. Kindof like junkfood for your brain, this is a nice break from "heavy" reading. Highly recommended.
if you are in need for a dose of laughter, or wait..multiple doses of laughter, do yourself a favor and pick this book. A hilarious, excellent read! Made me laughed out loud and makes me feel that I'm not alone with the way she thinks.
The story makes you can't wait to see what is she up to next and laugh at her (little bit). It is a good read to perk you up and also address the struggles of a working, independent, single woman who are surrounded by hitched/coupled friends. You can relate to her, especially if you are unsure on why you are single and successful but yet feel absolutely lonely at time. I certainly can! Its a definite favorite for me along with Chelsea Handler.
I think I heard of Sarah Colonna before but not really. This book looked interesting so I thought I’d “give it a try” and OMG, I was in the grocery store and awkwardly laughing, loudly, listening to this book on audio. She’s from in hilarious! How have I never caught her before!?!
I’m invested now!
Super funny but when the book is all said and done she closes with MORE great advice that is hugely wise.
Thank you Sarah for making me laugh and I will never forget “dick” man for as long as I live. 🤣😂
This book is a very relatable chronicle of Sarah's dating life. There are hilarious moments, disappointing moments, a chapter that made me cry, & friendships. A fun book to read whether you're single or have a significant other. As a Seattle area local, it made me so happy that one of my favorite comediennes married one of our Seahawks. The chapter where she discusses meeting Jon and how their relationship has played out is one that just makes your heart happy.

OMG I love Sarah Colonna. I initially picked this book because I wanted a funny "Hollywood" bio and the part about the Iowa casino made me wonder if it was a casino I had been to (I had not) and I am so glad I listened to this book. Sarah is hilarious and I can not wait to read more of her books. I found myself laughing outloud a lot and I loved her impression of her mom. Such a fun, quick read!
I bought this book at a library book sale, mostly because of the cover. I admit it. Plus who can’t want to read something funny every now and then? While I didn’t laugh out loud, I chuckled many times. The comedian is of a different generation than I am. But as a woman who once dated, owns a cat, and been to Mexico...I really enjoy the book.
Funny at times, but after a while, I got tired of hearing about her sex life, the friends who think they know better. Of course, the book ends with a 40-year-old woman getting engaged to a hot, rich, athlete.
This is a great book with short stories about Sarah's life. It was very humorous and she has quite the interesting life. Easy book to read while lounging around and fun to share with friends. It was a good book to mix in while you are reading a non-fiction or mystery/murder as it's a lite read.
Even though Mrs. Colonna is in her thirties, I could still identify with her, so I guess some things don't change from your twenties into your thirties, or maybe it's just Mrs. Colonna. Can't say it was a hilarious book but I chuckled more during reading than not. Sometimes Mrs. Colonna was frowned upon but it's probably because people need go go through some sh** to understand certain things. All in all, can't say it was amazing but it wasn't bad either. She turned some serious events in her life to the funny side, and it takes balls to do it like that, I'd probably curl up in a ball and hide somewhere after, for example, my script got turned down. So, it looks like a light reading, even though sometimes isn't but Mrs. Colonna wrapped it in a nice bow.
Sarah Colonna is such a good story teller and this book cracks me up. She is also surprisingly relatable with her quirks and flaws. If you are looking for a lighthearted read, this book will make your day!
I enjoyed this book so much! So lighthearted and funny and had me laughing out loud and smiling. Was such a great mental escape from distressing times in the real world currently. Twizzlers all the way though.
I can't say that I found this book to be the laugh riot I was expecting. I smirked a few times (but will admit to sobbing through one chapter). Enjoyable enough I guess, but not great.
