Since his mother died, Chris has lived with Tobin--his annoying, trying too hard, "we'll make this work" stepfather. He took Chris in when no one else would after the funeral, and Chris has never forgiven him for that act of kindness.
Moving to Tennessee was supposed to be a new start for the two of them, but things have only grown worse. One afternoon, before an angry storm shakes the sky, Chris sees something that will change his life forever: The Lying Tree.
Lured out into the storm by the promises of his heart's desire, Chris is plunged into the forest kingdom of The Hollow. A heartless prince has ruled this land for three hundred years, using the power of The Lying Tree to crush any who stand against him, but Chris has something he needs.
With the help of the Warden, one of the last of his order, Chris attempts to escape the prince, the power of The Lying Tree, and find a way back home. But to do this, he must first come face to face with the terrible truth that he has been carrying inside of himself. The Lying Tree is the story of a boy struggling with his grief--is hope beyond the shadows of regret?
I wrote the book! I've read it a few times, that counts right? But I think you'll enjoy it too. At least I'm relatively sure you won't hate it. A story of a boy searching to bring back what is gone forever. When your heart is broken, you'll believe any lie. But would you give up everything to have what you love most back?
I stayed up half the night to finish this book because it was so hard to put down! I am wowed! This book was absolutely brilliant! I stayed on pins and needles through each chapter and found myself dwelling on the book when I had to stop reading to do other things. The story is captivating and the ending brings you full circle while still blowing your mind. Loved the book and definitely recommend it!
