NYT and USA Today Bestselling author Kaylee Ryan brings you a new standalone series surrounding the Nashville Rampage football team. Run the Play is a fake dating, found family, workplace, he falls first romance.

Rowan

I swore I’d never look twice at a football player again, especially after barely surviving the last one. But when my abusive ex gets traded to the team I work for, my past shows up to haunt me.

Not a moment too soon, star player Landry Reynolds runs interference, announcing that he’s my boyfriend. My emotions get the best of me, and I find myself playing along.

He’s charming, bold, and way too convincing. The more time we spend together, the harder it is to remember that it’s all pretend.

I might be falling for my fake boyfriend, but I can never have him for real. I could lose everything I’ve finally found, and that’s scarier than having my heart crushed by the wide receiver.

Landry

I didn’t mean to get involved. I just couldn’t watch her shrink away from him a second longer—not after knowing what he put her through.

So I did what I do I ran the play and told him she’s mine. Now I can’t stop thinking about how right that little white lie feels. How right she feels.

There’s a good chance I was never faking.

This started as a way to protect her. I never imagined it’d be so hard keeping my hands off her. Then again, I’ve never been very good at following the rules.

We are back with the second book in Kaylee Ryans Nashville Rampage series and I am absolutely IN LOVE with everyone in this book...Kaylee has this amazing ability to write MMC's who are not only strong and protective but make your heart swell with how much they love and care for not just the FMC, but everyone around them.

This book centers around Rowan and Landry...a classic fake dating, sports romance trope...but trust me...the story will keep you turning the pages into the late hours of the night.

Rowan is out FMC...shes been dealt a rough hand in life...through it all she's tried to stay strong....but it has ultimately cause her to be very cautious and untrusting...she never knows if people really care about her or want her around...so she tends to keep to herself and keep closed off. She's headed back to her hometown of Nashville after escaping a VERY abusive ex. Her friend Corie helps her get a job with the Nashville Rampage as a physical therapy assistant. Corie tries to bring her into the fold and family group the team has formed, but naturally Rowan is cautious.

Landry is the star wide receiver for the team and the actual embodiment of a cinnamon roll golden retriever...he's hosting all the barbecues and always ready to help any and everyone. When he meets Rowan he is instantly smitten. He knows he should PROBABLY keep his distance since they TECHNICALLY work together, but a little flirting never hurt anyone, right? And TRUST ME...Landry's flirt game is ON POINT! 😍😍😍

Rowans past comes back to haunt her when her ex shows up as a new addition to the team. She's posed with the option of running again, or letting everyone know what is going on and face things head on. And like bad b she is, she chooses to face her fears and let the team and her new friends know...not wanting to give up the life she was starting to rebuild...and they are ALL THERE to support and protect her...no questions asked.

When Landry catches her ex Chaz (why is it ALWAYS some tool with a name like that😒😒) trying to harass her, Landry quickly steps in and pretends to be her boyfriend...hoping it will put an end to his nonsense. Landry and Rowan agree to keep the act going as a way to keep her ex at bay...but by this point, Landry is already one foot in the love pond...and things quickly go from fake to VERY REAL for both of them.

This book is truly at its core about creating your own family...family isn's always blood. Sometimes you get to choose who you call and consider family...and thats what Rowan and Landry have done. ALL of the characters in this book are crucial to the budding relationship...they all protect Landry and Rowan...and help support and encourage what they see growing between them.

I've seen some comments saying that the first half of the book focused to much on everyone as a whole and not so much the MC's and the conflict...and to that I say, you are missing the point of the book. This book is about found family, and how even when you think you'll never make it out of something dark and hard, one decision can change everything. Landry and Rowan would never have made it to their happy ending without the support of the ones around them...so it's important to see how they both get to where they are and ultimately find each other. 💙

Thank you so much to Kaylee Ryan for allowing me the opportunity to ARC read this incredible book! And an even bigger thank you for allowing me to be part of your team.💙

I absolutely loved this book just as much as book 1 and I loved getting to see Corie and Knox again.

Rowan is new to Nashville after moving here to escape her horrible ex and life in California. She has finally settled down with a good job with the team as an assistant PT and found friends/family. But that is all about to change when her ex gets traded to that same team.

Landry is the ultimate book boyfriend. He is attentive, he is sweet, protective, he notices the small things, and he does not give up. He knows what he wants, which is Rowan, and he is not going to give up until she gives in. He is so cute when he flirts, had me cracking up at times. But he is also not too pushy and lets her take it at her pace, especially when she opens up about her past.

The two have a connection and spark right away, but Rowan is too scared to start something new, especially with an athlete. But Landry isn’t afraid to show her he is different, he is not like the ex. He will treat her like a queen and show her what love should feel like.

This book is beautifully written. It does mention abuse (not from the MMC) but it’s done so well. This isn’t just a live story, it’s about the Rowan finding her home, her family, and her voice. You will laugh, swoon, and possibly shed a couple of tears through her journey.

This author is not a new to me author I have read all of her books including the 1st one in this series. I was excited for the brother and knew he would be just dreamy.

That's what this book was DREAMY, romantic, LOVE LOVE, tearful, sweet and a easy read. One sitting is all it took for me. The MFC is part of the rampage football team as the MMC and these two are in each others lives but when her past meets her current, she is scared for her future. Luckily she has an amazing friend who happens to have a even more amazing brother that steps in. I really loved the LOVE in this and even though it's very very sweet, I was captivated and enjoyed their story. Looking forward to more!

This one has a great concept of fake dating on the fly, and the FMC running from an abusive ex who's followed her to her current job. Unfortunately the first 40% dragged a bit. It almost felt like the beginning of the book was an extended epilogue for book one, as well as a setup for book three, while trying to build interest in the current books characters. Due to that, the pacing was slow and didn't hold a lot of interesting moments between the two leads, as it was a lot of information for other characters before anything really happened between them.

Around the midway point, the conflict the story is built around occurs, but it very much takes a backseat to the leads dating. Which is kind of how the entire book plays out. Conflict exists but it's very much not affecting the leads until the main event about 75% in. From there the resolution is quick, and a lot of sweet found family moments occur, while their relationship progressing in leaps and bounds.

Overall this is a very sweet book with a lot of open dialogue and very low tension overall. If you want something soft and low-stakes, this fits the bill. There isn't a ton of character growth, but there is a lot of emotional intelligence throughout, with both leads being all in, all the time.

*Note: This definitely is a standalone, but it would be more enjoyable reading the first novel in the series first, as those characters are constantly present in this novel as well.

💬 Final thoughts:

Landry Reynolds is an amazing cinnamon roll hero who completely stole my heart! 🥰

This second book in the Nashville Rampage series continues the fun from the first book. Landry, Knox, Reid, Baker and Foster are teammates and the best of friends. Landry’s sister Corie and his best friend, Knox are getting married after the season. Corrie and her best friend, Sloane have welcomed a new girl bestie into their group, Rowan.

Rowan is new to Nashville and works for the team as physical therapist. Her past has her unfamiliar with having close friends or a support network, so she’s a little hesitant to expect much from her new friends. They welcome her into their found family and step up to protect her when they learn her abusive ex has been traded to the team.

Landry is protective of Rowan and doesn’t hesitate to claim her as his when her abusive ex tries to confront her at a team event. I loved how Landry just goes all in for Rowan. He’s so careful to give her control and a voice, yet unflinching in his determination for her to be safe and at ease.

The romance was sweet with the potential for sizzling spice once Rowan became comfortable and confident of her place in Landry’s life. Once that happens their relationship goes from flirty and fun to spicy.

I love this group of characters and am excited for the next books in the series featuring the rest of them.

I received a free ARC from the author and Grey’s PR; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

Disclaimer: While this book was mostly upbeat and happy, there were some scenes that could trigger some readers. Please be gentle with yourself and check the warnings at the beginning of the book.

My, oh my.
Landry Reynolds was the perfect blend of golden retriever, swoon, and sexy; he oozed all the green flag energy.
The way he cared for and supported the people he held close was so endearing. His affection for Rowan was evident from the very start of the book. He was patient, affectionate, thoughtful, and so open about his feelings.
Similarly, Rowan's affection for Landry was easy to see, though he definitely fell first.

Rowan was sweet. Kind, thoughtful, and so strong.
Not only was her life before she met this group difficult, but she also encountered a situation in this book that could have really scarred her. Having Landry's support and the kindness of her found family seemed to help her deal with her experience in a healthy way.

The friendly banter, the flirty glances, the connection... I could go on all day about what I loved about this book, but I don't want to ruin all the fun for anyone, so I will leave you with this: we were treated to a lovely surprise via Baker, and I can't wait to see what happens when we get his book.

This is the second book in this impressive series, and this is Rowan and Landry’s story.
Rowan is the physical therapist for the team, and she has sworn off dating football players due to her abusive ex, while Landry is the star wide receiver football player. When Rowan’s past comes back to haunt her when her ex is traded to the team she works for, Landry’s protective instincts come to the fore, and he runs interference and state she is his girlfriend.
This is a well written story which has found family, friendships, emotions, fake dating, tension, workplace romance, survival, humor, witty banter, undeniable chemistry, healing, and love, which leads to an entertaining, sports romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Run the Play is the second book in the Nashville Rampage series, and I absolutely loved it! Rowan has recently moved to Nashville and is a physical therapy assistant for the Nashville Rampage football team. She is running away from her difficult past and finds a support system in a new group of friends who soon become her family. Landry comes into her life when she needs him the most and becomes her fake boyfriend. However, when they start to develop real feelings for each other it suddenly doesn’t feel so fake anymore! Landry and Rowan were so perfect together and were always destined to find each other! It was such a beautiful love story!

“Because I’ll miss you, and, baby, if you keep looking at me like that, you’ll be my breakfast.”

I knew I was going to love Landry after reading the 1st book, and this one didn't disappoint.

Landry is the sweetest and says all the perfect things ... so swoony. Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes, and this one was done kinda on the fly. Landry attends Family Day for football, but after finding out Rowan's story and seeing her ex talking to her, he steps up as "the boyfriend"

But was it ever fake... no, not really. I was here for all the emotional stuff and all the perfect swoony moments that is Landry Reynolds.

Another perfect swoony book boyfriend from Kaylee😭💜🫠🫠 Landry and Rowan completely stole my heart!

Rowan ran away from her abusive ex-boyfriend and found a new home and family in Tennessee. Now her ex is back and while her instincts tell her to run away, her new family is willing to do anything to keep her safe and in Tennessee.

Landry is a protective soul and loves with his whole heart. He's had feelings for Rowan, but knows she's not looking for anything more than friendship. When Rowan's ex is on their team he doesn't think and protects her the best way he knows how and pretends to be her girlfriend.

Landry is literally PERFECT! He's sweet, protective, a bit overbearing in the best possible way, without ever being controlling! I loved that he was so in tune with what Rowan always needed. He was there to help, while letting her make the decisions.

The "fake dating" was never fake. Landry was in love with Rowan from the beginning! I appreciated that we got to see their friendship before the dating and really see their relationship develop. The soft tension building up with the slow burn was chef's kiss!

Seeing Rowan accept this new family of hers and her feelings for Landry brought tears to my eyes! She's been through so much and for her to finally have everything she's been longing for was beautiful!

I love this author's found family aspect. You can feel the love everyone has for each other throughout the book. Seeing the actions of them being a family I enjoyed very much, but Landry mentioning it(inner thought) every chapter, took away from the wholesome feeling and felt forced.

Overall this was a completely wholesome book with so much love and friendship. I'm excited for what's next for The Rampage brothers!

Kaylee Ryan definitely runs the play with this fake dating, footballer, workplace, found family romance! Ryan weaves together comfort, truth, hardships, and sweetness all together to create this beautiful love story. Ryan is one of those authors who writes a clear and engaging story, with the delight of an insta-love/hero falls first. Ryan is not afraid to shy away from some intense topics while showing the softness and beauty of falling in love and finding a support group. I absolutely adore Kaylee Ryan, I devour her books and Run the Play is a wonderful second installment in the Nashville Rampage series!

This romance is between Rowen and Landry, Rowen works with the rampage as a physical therapist and Landry and his friends have taken to involving her in their group. Rowen learns to trust and find support with Landry and his friends as they show her over and over again how much they care for her and believe in her. Ryan balances Rowen’s past and abusive relationship with a new teammate and finding her inner strength and trusting Landry in a clear and understanding way. I loved watching Landry fall hard and fast! I loved that the line between real and fake is extremely blurry when it comes to these two. I love that every member of this found family will drop everything to provide the care and understanding that one of them might need. Ryan’s characters and friendships a simple and true in the best ways which provide the perfect gravity to the characters she builds.

Kaylee Ryan is always a must read for me! If you are looking for a quick read that will fill your heart full then Ryan is the author for you! Definitely pick up Run the Play and fall head over heels for Ryan and her world!

Thank you so much to Kaylee Ryan and her team for an ARC, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

“The play is simple. You treat her like your queen. Make sure that every damn day she knows what she means to you. The rest will fall into place.”

Rowan Mills is the new physical therapist for the Nashville Rampage, but her excitement is cut short when her abusive ex is added to the roaster. As her ex tries to close in, star wide receiver Landry Reynolds steps in. Kaylee Ryan scores once again with Run the Play.

My thoughts:
The love within this team and friendships in this series is literally everything. I was so excited for Landry’s story and I fell in love with him instantly. He is bold and the flirting had my attention from the start.

When Rowan’s ex poses a threat Landry immediately acts and makes it his mission to protect her. What starts as a faking dating plan quickly leads to insane chemistry that neither can deny. The slow build was so good. Between the sizzling tension and suspense of a crazy ex, I could not put this book down.

The ending… my heart. Perfection! I adore this series and I cannot wait to continue.

Thank you Kaylee Ryan for allowing me to read Run the Play early!

I absolutely LOVE this series about the Nashville Rampage. Landry Reynolds is the star wide receiver, and when he meets assistant physical therapist Rowan Mills, he's intrigued. Rowan has no interest in ever dating another football player after her abusive ex, but Landry is so awesome and patient with her. I absolutely loved him! I loved him from book 1 and even more so in this book. I am really enjoying this series and can't wait for the third book to come out!

I absolutely loved Run the Play by Kaylee Ryan; it is an incredible fake dating workplace love story. It is the second book in her Nashville Rampage series. Kaylee Ryan is an amazing storyteller and is a must read; one click author for me. I was hooked from the first few pages, it was impossible to put Run the Play down, and I loved every moment on every page. It filled me with a rollercoaster of emotions. It is one of the most enjoyable books that I have read recently. Who does not love hot sexy men, strong females, loving families, and friends, who always support one another? I love how Kaylee Ryan somehow manages to find the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong woman on her own, to balance out her men. Run the Play is the story of Landry Reynolds, starting wide receiver of the Nashville Rampage and Rowan Mills, physical therapist assistant for the Nashville Rampage. After the Nashville Rampage win the league championship, Rowan begins hanging around Corie Beckett, Director of Social Media for the Rampage and Corie’s best friend, Sloane. Rowan grew up in the foster care system and escaped Los Angeles and an abusive relationship with Chaz Brown a cornerback with Los Angeles. The Rampage agreed to a trade with Los Angeles for Chaz. Learning about the trade during a Memorial Day party at Corie and Knox’s, Rowan reveals her secrets to her friends. The secrets that Rowan shares about her relationship with Chaz are truly heartbreaking. When Chaz approaches Rowan, Landry comes to her rescue and tells Chaz that they are dating. Rowan and Landry start to fake date, but somewhere along the way things change between them. I love the chemistry between Rowan and Landry, their conversation flows so easily, with innuendos and playful banter, and Landry constantly flirting and dirty talking. As they spend time together things change between them. I love all the little things that Landry does for Rowan, their secret handshake, and his Christmas gifts. I love all the changes that both Rowan and Landry are willing to make in their lives to have a life with one another. I love the text streams between Landry and Rowan, and Landry and his teammates. An unexpected plot twist puts Rowan’s life in jeopardy; I love how they work together to resolve it with a family sleepover. I love how they finally admit their feelings for each other. I love that a heart-to-heart conversations that take place. I love how Corie, Sloane, and the Rampage teammates quickly embraces Rowan, something that Rowan is not used to since grew up in foster care. One of my favorite parts is the picture of Corie, Landry, and their late parents at a Rampage game that was in the newspaper and the surprises that are revealed. I love the ending of their love story, especially Landry’s proposal. My favorite part is the epilogue told from Landry’s perspectives and how it goes above a happily ever after. The epilogues are the perfect ending of their love story. Another favorite part was the bonus scene shown from Landry’s perspective it is the perfect ending of their love story. I really enjoy how the book is told in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. I love that the dialogue that Kaylee Ryan chooses perfectly fits her characters. My favorite part of the book is how Kaylee Ryan incorporates the title of the book and the picture on the cover into the love story. This page turner is filled with heartbreaking, heartwarming, poignant, and bittersweet moments as well as plot twists and surprises that I have come to love and expect in a love story and was not disappointed with Kaylee Ryan’s delivery of those things. I love how Kaylee Ryan managed to create the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong, sassy woman on her own, to balance out the sexy, swoon worthy man. I love the characters and the family dynamic in Run the Play. The characters feel like family and friends, especially Rowan’s relationship with Corie, Sloane, and Landry’s teammates. I love that their friendship feels like family. I love the newfound family that Rowan discovers with the Landry’s family. I enjoyed all the interactions between all the Nashville Rampage football players it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. I love the descriptions of the Nashville location. I loved the relationship between Landry and his teammates. I loved Run the Play and am so excited to read the other books in the series. Who does not love family and friends that always have each other’s backs? This book had my interest from the start, and I fell in love with the story. I thoroughly enjoyed Run the Play who does not love a fake dating workplace love story. Highly recommend this incredible love story. Received an advanced copy from the author.

In all honesty, I didn’t think it would be possible to love anyone more than I loved Knox Beckett and Corie Reynolds… I had a deep feeling that these two would be the end game for me even throughout this series. Kaylee Ryan has flipped the script on my assumptions and did something I thought would be impossible. She made me fall hard for two more characters in the Nashville Rampage Series. Landry Reynolds and Rowan Mills’ story had me on the edge of my seat in anticipation of what’s to come! Kaylee Ryan is queen when it comes to the inevitable spark! I’m a fan for life!! Now, let’s dive into what Run The Play by Kaylee Ryan is all about.

Landry Reynolds has lived his life for the game and making sure his younger sister has everything she needs in her life. But now that Corie has married his best friend and she’s being well taken care of, Landry is finding his home lonely and his life a little more empty. He’s never been the settling-down type. Until Rowan Mills walks into his life. He senses the distrust in her eyes and the secrets she holds tight to her heart. And he’ll do everything he can to make her trust him and make sure nobody can hurt her ever again. His heart is invested and when Landry wants something he puts his entire being into getting it. And what Landry wants is for Rowan to feel safe and secure in her life.

Rowan Mills ran from her dark past…. But you know what they say, your past has a way of catching up to you. Now, Rowan Mills must face her ex… but this time, she’s not alone. And that’s all I have to say about her side of the story due to not wanting to spoil everyone!!

My Thoughts:

OMG! I finished this book two days ago and I’m just now sitting at my computer and writing my thoughts down. Landry and Rowan’s story had me speechless! From Rowan’s traumatic backstory to Landry’s need to watch Rowan grow into the person she is, had me all up in my feelings and completely speechless. And that’s one main reason why Kaylee Ryan is one of my top favorite authors. She has this way of bringing the emotional moments to life. Ugh, I was gone at first glance!!

Let’s dive into these characters, starting with Rowan Mills. Rowan was the character who had me crying the most. Her backstory is traumatizing and to make a note, there are a few trigger warnings that come along with it such as abuse. There were so many times I wanted to reach into my Kindle and hug Rowan. I felt her fear and I cheered for her ability to slowly find the power to rise above her trauma. I loved seeing her strength grow throughout this novel.

And then we have Landry. This is a man who Rowan needed in her life. Someone who was caring, somewhat soft-hearted, and gentle. But don’t get me wrong, Rowan can also be the total opposite when he’s in ultra protective mode. I loved seeing his soft side, when it came to his loved ones. I loved the fact that he didn’t hesitate to protect Rowan from he who shall not be named. I loved how he let Rowan set the pace of their relationship. Basically, everything about this man, I LOVED!! And that’s the reasoning behind why I gave Run The Play by Kaylee Ryan a 5-star rating! This book was everything I wanted for Landry and Rowan… And so much more.

Overall, I hand my heart over to Kaylee Ryan for writing another epic romance with an incredible storyline and an unforgettable happily ever after! I do have to say, the more books I read, the more my curiosity is piqued by Foster. I’m going to need his story soon! I have a strong feeling his is going to be the one that breaks my heart the most!! And I’ll be okay with that.

Run the Play is book 2 in the Nashville Rampage series and follows wide receiver Landry and physical therapy assistant Rowan throughout the good, the bad and the ugly.

We met Landry in Make the Play, book 1 of the series, as he learned about his sister and best friend's secret relationship. He lost his father at a young age. When his mother passed away, he was an adult and became the guardian to his little sister, Corie. When she moved in with his best friend, Knox, Landry was left all alone in his big house. Since he is a very social person, he is always having his core group of 5 teammates plus his sister and Sloane over for pool time, movies, poker, dinner, etc.

Rowan is a quiet person. She does her job and goes home. Her life has not been easy, to say the least. During this off season, she and Corie became friends. Thus, she is now included in the get togethers at Landry's home. She values these new friends as gold. She has never had any friends of her own, so she is learning how to open up to them.

When the Rampage announce a trade, Rowan's past comes back to haunt her. The person they are getting in the trade is none other than her ex.

When her new friends/family see her reaction, she has no choice but to tell them about her past. In so doing, she is putting trust in them. Something she has not done in a very long time.

Since the trade is final there is nothing any of these guys can do. Instead they all agree that they will keep an eye on the newcomer. Their hope is that he has given up on Rowan, but she knows better.

When the newcomer makes it clear he is back to claim Rowan, Landry decides that they will fake a relationship in order to thwart his plans. Since fraternization is frowned upon without notifying management, Landry speaks with the team owner about his and Rowan's relationship and gets his consent.

As they continue their relationship, they are each falling for the other. Big surprise, right? But neither is saying anything to the other about their feelings. All of the others in the group see how they feel about each other clear as day.

One night, things will change between these two and they will take that final step. Landry refuses to push Rowan due to her history. So he lets her lead their relationship.

Things are going along great until one day when Rowan does not make the team bus back to Nashville from an away game. Landry knows something is wrong and goes looking for her. What he finds will destroy him and leave you in tears. When the others follow Landry, they make a silent plan to put an end to the impossible situation.

This book is intense, especially at the end. The love story is amazing, but what Rowan has gone through in her life and what she goes through physically and emotionally is beyond what any woman should ever go through.

I love the fact that the team stepped up and supported her and Landry legally, physically and emotionally. This team is family and you know that is the case with what they do. This is one owner I would be proud to work for.

It is rare that a book makes me ugly cry, but Kaylee Ryan does it in this book. The subject matter is real. The reactions are real. The fallout is real. Make sure you have a box or two of tissues nearby when you read the last few chapters.

Trigger Warning - this book contains off page physical, mental and emotional abuse and on page physical and s3xu@l assault.

We're here with the follow-up book in Kaylee Ryan's Nashville Rampage series, and I am completely INFATUATED with all the characters in this story...Kaylee possesses a remarkable talent for crafting MMCs who are not only tough and protective but also warm your heart with their deep love and concern for the FMC and those around them.

This novel focuses on Rowan and Landry...a typical fake relationship, sports romance theme...but believe me...the plot will have you flipping through the pages well into the night.

Rowan is out of FMC…she's faced many challenges in life…amidst it all, she's attempted to remain resilient…but this has led her to become quite wary and distrustful…she constantly questions whether others genuinely care for her or want her company…so she usually prefers to stay solitary and remain guarded. She's returning to her hometown of Nashville after fleeing a VERY abusive former partner. Corie, her friend, assists her in securing a position as a physical therapy assistant with the Nashville Rampage. Corie attempts to include her in the team's family group, but Rowan is understandably wary.

Landry is the team's standout wide receiver and truly represents a golden retriever cinnamon roll...he organizes all the barbecues and is always willing to assist anyone in need. Upon meeting Rowan, he becomes immediately infatuated. He realizes he should LIKELY maintain some space since they OFFICIALLY collaborate, but a bit of flirting isn't harmful, is it? And BELIEVE ME...Landry's flirting skills are SPOT ON!

Rowan's history resurfaces to trouble her when her former partner joins the team. She’s faced with the choice of running again or revealing the truth and confronting the situation directly. And being the bold person she is, she decides to confront her fears and share with the team and her new friends...not wanting to abandon the life she was beginning to restore...and they are ALL PRESENT to back her up and keep her safe...without any hesitation.

When Landry sees her ex Chaz (why is it ALWAYS some jerk with a name like that😒😒) attempting to harass her, she swiftly intervenes and acts as if she’s with someone, hoping to stop his antics. Landry and Rowan decide to maintain the façade to keep her ex away...however, at this stage, Landry is already partially immersed in feelings...and events swiftly transition from pretend to VERY GENUINE for the two of them.

This book fundamentally revolves around the idea of forming your own family...family isn't solely defined by blood relations. Occasionally, you have the option to decide who you call and regard as family...and that is exactly what Rowan and Landry have chosen. Every character in this book is essential to the developing relationship...they all safeguard Landry and Rowan...and assist in nurturing and motivating what they observe blossoming between them.

I've noticed some remarks stating that the first half of the book emphasizes the group too much and not enough on the main characters and the conflict...and to that, I respond that you are missing the essence of the book. This book explores found family and how, even in the depths of darkness and difficulty, a single choice can alter your entire situation. Landry and Rowan would not have achieved their happy ending without the backing of those around them...thus it's essential to observe how they both reach their destination and ultimately reunite.

"The play is simple. You treat her like your queen. Make sure that every damn day she knows what she means to you. The rest will fall intoplace."

This book centers around Rowan and Landry. a classic fake dating, sports romance trope, but trust me the story will keep you turning the pages into the late hours of the night. I could I put this book down, no I could not. I was dying to find out how the story unfolded with Rowan and Landry.

My Rowan I girl is the FMC. she’s been dealt a rough hand in life through it all she's tried to stay strong but it has ultimately cause her to be very cautious and untrusting she never knows if people really care about her or want her around so she tends to keep to herself and keep closed off. She's headed back to her hometown of Nashville after escaping a VERY abusive ex. Her friend Corie helps her get a job with the Nashville Rampage as a physical therapy assistant.
Corie tries to bring her into the fold and family group the team has formed, but naturally Rowan is cautious.

Landry Reynolds is an amazing cinnamon roll hero who completely stole my heart! he's hosting all the barbecues and always ready to help any and everyone. When he meets Rowan he is instantly smitten. He knows he should keep his distance since they work together, but a little flirting never hurt anyone, right?

Rowans past comes back to haunt her when her ex shows up as a new addition to the team. She's posed with the option of running again, or letting everyone know what is going on and face things head on. And like bad b she is, she chooses to face her fears and let the team and her new friends know not wanting to give up the life she was starting to rebuild and they are ALL there to support and protect her no questions asked. The support that she gets from these friends that turned family blew me away. She is so broken and they left all that aside to just be her support since she’s never had this before. My heart broke for Rowan and all she’s been dealt. But the friends that she has come to have is the best thing for her.

When Landry catches her ex Chaz trying to harass her, Landry quickly steps in and pretends to be her boyfriend hoping it will put an end to his nonsense.
Landry and Rowan agree to keep the act going as a way to keep her ex at bay but by this point, Landry is already one foot in the love pond and things quickly go from fake to very real for both of them. But Rowan is still being cautious as she has been down this road but the feelings she has are new and they’ve come so fast and she’s not sure her heart would make it out of this doesn’t work with them.

The core of this book truly was finding and creating your family. Sometimes you get to choose who you call and consider family...and thats what Rowan and Landry have done. The traumas that Rowan and Landry both over come in this book and find themselves together in the end made my heart so attached to these two. They all protect Landry and Rowan and help support and encourage what they see growing between the two.

This book is about found family, and how even when you think you'll never make it out of something dark and hard, one decision can change everything. Landry and Rowan would never have made it to their happy ending without the support of the ones around them so it's important to see how they both get to where they are and ultimately find each other.

"Run The Play is a heartfelt and swoon-worthy romance that blends fake dating, emotional healing, and the protective charm of a football hero. Kaylee Ryan brings together the grit of past trauma and the hope of new love in a way that feels empowering and deeply romantic.
Rowan is determined to leave her painful past behind, especially when it comes to athletes. But when her abusive ex—also a football player—is suddenly traded to the same team she works for, the life she’s rebuilt starts to shake. Just when things begin to spiral, star wide receiver Landry Reynolds steps in with an unexpected play: claiming he’s her boyfriend.

What starts as a split-second decision turns into something far more layered. Landry’s protectiveness isn’t just for show. His connection with Rowan runs deeper than either of them anticipates, and their fake relationship quickly starts to blur into something real. The chemistry between them is electric, but what really shines is the emotional safety and mutual respect Landry gives Rowan.

Kaylee Ryan handles difficult topics—like abuse and trauma—with sensitivity and care. Rowan’s journey is inspiring, and her strength, even in moments of vulnerability, is written with authenticity. Landry is the perfect balance of alpha and tender-hearted, making him not just a hero, but a healing force in Rowan’s life." ~Stephanie

"Just WOW. This book had me all in the feels pretty much right from the start, and I honestly struggled with the fact that I had to put the book down and actually go to my place of employment - just wrong!!!
Landry featured heavily in the first book in this series, and I knew I was going to love him as the MMC in this book. Rowan on the other hand was an unknown entity. But I just loved her so much. She has gone through something horrific and definitely deserved finding someone like Landry. The way he was with her just melted my heart and as the book went on she certainly blossomed and came into her own with him.
Towards the end of the book there is something that happens which is very confronting. But I take my hat off to the author for including this in the storyline and just didn’t hint at it. It is definitely in your face, but I can only suggest you read the trigger warnings.
The epilogues finish the book off beautifully and unless I missed it, I have no idea who features in the next book. But I know no matter what, I’m going to read it." ~Sharon

Landry Reynolds is a sweet, goofy, loyal cinnamon roll and he falls hard for his co-worker Rowan. He might have had to grow up a little too soon and have no family besides his sister remaining. But he and Corie found their own family in Landry's teammates and that family grows with each new book from Kaylee Ryan.

Rowan is timid, a little broken, but incredibly strong. She's just never had anyone to be by her side and at her back to let her know just how incredible she really is. It's not necessarily that she has huge walls, it’s more that she's been hurt and has trust issues. She wants to find her people she's just not sure how to trust anyone enough to be open.

That's where Corie comes in. Also working of the Nashville Rampage, she befriends Rowan and pulls her into their group. It's a slow process for Rowan to believe that they want her as their friend, want to hear her opinions, and learn about her life. She's not willing to share at first but when that past that she ran from comes and joins the Rampage team she has no choice but to run or spill her secrets.

By now, Landry is halfway in love, not that he realises it, and he's determined to not only not let her go but to also face her demons head on with her. He believes him and the others can keep her safe and make sure she never has to relive her past again. Seems simple enough but when Landry see Rowan talking with her ex, he decides he'll be her shield by acting as her new boyfriend in an effort to deter the ex.

Fake doesn't last too long, especially for Landry but Rowan is drawn to him too, so it doesn't take long for them to succumb to the pull. Landry is patient with Rowan though, determined to never take her choices away, and to never be anything like her ex. He's sweet and romantic, but still a little bit naughty. Together they light up the pages not just with the spice but with their banter and the softer moments.

Honestly, I would have loved to see Landry really give the ex of hers a good punch, at least one, but the way Kaylee had him there for Rowan was true to the character of Landry so I'm not disappointed with how she wrapped it all up.

There are some breadcrumbs for the other Rampage players, and I'm interested to see who the rest of this series plays out.

Happy Reading.

Want My Own Landry!

"Run the Play" is the second book in the Nashville Rampage series, and let me tell you, I absolutely loved Landry and Rowan’s love story! It was sweet, fun, and packed with emotion. I’m such a fan of those found-family vibes, and this story had it all!

When Rowan moved to Nashville, she didn’t have people around her. But once she became the new physical therapist for the Nashville Rampage football team, everything changed. She quickly found herself making friends with the players and their partners, and it was so heartwarming to see how they all became like family. Landry, in particular, catches on fast when he realizes Rowan might be running away from something in her past.

To help her out, Landry pretends to be her boyfriend, but things take a surprising turn when they discover that she is hiding from her abusive ex. Landry feels a strong urge to protect Rowan and support her alongside her new friends. The best part? Their fake dating begins to feel more real, and every day the lines between what’s real and what’s pretend start to blur. But was it ever really fake for Landry? Or was he just waiting for Rowan to realize he’s always wanted her?

The author did such an amazing job bringing the characters to life! They’re all so lovable, including the side characters who draw you into their world and keep you hooked. I loved seeing how they supported each other through life’s ups and downs. They’re all ready to drop everything for one another, which shows what true friendship is all about. I’m totally here for that!

And can we talk about the slow burn between Landry and Rowan? He really understands that she needs time to heal from her past, and the lack of pressure just made their connection even deeper, not to mention those spicy moments! Just like the first book, I hated to see this one come to an end. But every book in this series just keeps getting better and better, and I can’t wait to find out who the next couple will be!!

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

📚✨ ARC REVIEW ✨📚
Run the Play by @kaylee_ryan_author
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 (4.5/5 stars)

Thank you to Kaylee Ryan and @greyspromo for a free ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Rowan moved back to Nashville to escape an abusive ex, arriving with no family, no friends, and little hope. Since then, she’s built a found family with the football team she works for—until her ex is traded to the team.

Landry, a wide receiver, has been smitten with Rowan from the start. When he sees her ex hassling her, he steps in and declares himself her boyfriend. They agree to fake date to keep her ex away… but their undeniable connection and chemistry make the lines between fiction and reality blur.

This book was a freaking delight. Landry is the ultimate cinnamon roll, golden retriever hero — supportive of family and friends, always hosting cookouts (ALL the food!), and offering to lend a helping hand. When it comes to Rowan, he is gentle and patient, not wanting her to ever feel uncomfortable. He is also very protective, instinctively knowing when Rowan is in danger.

Rowan is strong and resilient, refusing to let her ex drive her away. She lowers her walls, letting in Landry and her found family, and holds tight to her true self.

Together, Landry and Rowan are perfect. They can be silly together (see their touchdown handshake), serious, sweet, and sexy (ALL the esses!). They are open with each other about their feelings at all times - all hail the king and queen of communication! Most importantly, Landry is a safe place for Rowan. I just love them!

I highly recommend Run the Play to anyone who wants a sweet and swoony romance with a strong couple who stand together against adversity.

Kaylee Ryan really said, let’s mix a football romance where you’re grinning like an idiot the whole time, with a whole lot of “oh no, he did not just say that” and I ate it up like it was game day snacks.

Run The Play is a sports romance but with all the fluffy, feel-good vibes Kaylee Ryan is known for. You’ve got Landry, the football player who is basically walking, talking boyfriend material, like, unfairly so. He’s hot, cocky in that “I know I’m good but I’ll still carry your groceries” way, and when he sets his eyes on Rowan? Game over, then he can’t seem to stay away from the girl who’s technically “off-limits.” Honestly, she never stood a chance, and neither did I because this man’s charm is something else.

And Rowan? Not just sitting on the sidelines, thank you very much. She’s smart, grounded, and totally capable of putting Mr. Big Shot QB in his place. The chemistry? Off the charts. The banter? Sharper than his jawline. And the sweetness? Honestly, it might rot your teeth, but you won’t even care. There’s also the found family and this tight group of friends turning into a chosen family for Rowan that make all the difference. This is a feel-good, swoony, “oh my god, he’s so sweet I can’t” type of sports romance. It’s not drama-heavy, it’s touchdown-heavy. And sometimes? That’s exactly the play you need.

If you’re into a protective, possessive, obsessed with his wife and charming athlete who knows how to play both on and off the field, plus a girl who knows exactly how to knock his ego down a few notches but someone with brains, heart, and backbone, this one will be right up your alley.

So yeah, Landry may own the football field, but Roman owns him. And watching him happily fumble his heart for her? That’s the real win here. Run The Play is Kaylee Ryan doing what she does best: giving us a couple to root for, a romance to gush over, with enough spice and charm to keep you fanning yourself while grinning like a fool. Thank you so much Kaylee and Grey’s promotion for this arc opportunity! I can’t wait for what’s next for this amazing group of guys!

* I was 60% in and it was already a 5 stars. Same as all Kaylee's books I read. I literally read everything she writes, forever grateful for this arc!

Kaylee Ryan’s Book 2 in the Nashville Rampage series was another fun, emotional, and utterly addictive romance, and I might even say I enjoyed it more than Book 1! Landry and Rowan’s story had just the right blend of tension, heart, chemistry, and character growth to make it an engaging read from start to finish.

We met Landry as the lighthearted, fun-loving teammate in Book 1, but in this installment, we see an entirely different side of him. He’s still playful, but now there’s a possessive, protective, and emotionally grounded version of him that I absolutely loved. His "caveman" energy was honestly swoon-worthy, but it was his deep care for Rowan that truly made his character shine.

Rowan arrives in Nashville as the new physical therapy assistant for the team and quickly finds her footing thanks to Corie’s support. She’s intelligent, capable, and quietly strong, despite the trauma she carries from her past. But just as she begins to settle in, her nightmare reappears: her emotionally abusive ex-boyfriend is the newest addition to the team.

That’s when Landry steps up in a major way, offering to pose as her fake boyfriend to protect her. What begins as a protective gesture quickly turns into something real, and watching that shift unfold was so satisfying. The chemistry between them is undeniable, but what made it even more impactful was how their connection deepened emotionally. There’s a sweetness and a safety in their relationship that balances out the heat.

What I loved, Landry’s transformation: From the goofy side character to a layered, emotionally available man who would do anything for Rowan. It was such a rewarding evolution to witness. Rowan’s quiet strength: Her backstory is heavy, but her grace, dignity, and slow journey toward healing felt very real and empowering. The fake-dating trope: Always a favorite of mine, and this was executed so well, with just the right amount of tension and tenderness. Found family: The way the team supports each other is one of the warmest aspects of the series. The friendships and bonds feel genuine and grounded.

While I adored the story overall, I felt like a few emotional beats could’ve been explored more deeply, particularly Rowan’s healing journey and how she processes her past. At times, things resolved a bit too quickly, and I would’ve loved a little more space for both characters to sit in the heavy moments before moving forward.

𝐑𝐮𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲 is the second book in the Nashville Rampage series by Kaylee Ryan, featuring a sweet and emotional fake dating, football romance for Landry and Rowan. Rowan ran for her life when her ex proved to be a monster, and just as she starts to settle in as a physical therapist with the Nashville Rampage and her new friend group, her worst nightmare ends up traded to the team. Landry Reynolds steps up in every way to protect her through a fake dating arrangement, even if it never really felt so fake at all!

I loved every moment of this story! Rowan’s strength was so inspiring, though my heart broke for her as she told her traumatic story! Landry embodied everything I love in an ultimate protective, cinnamon roll hero, determined to respect her boundaries and vulnerabilities in every way, while convincing her that she would always be safe with him! I was so hooked by the raw emotions, the drama you expect but are still shocked by, other plot twists, and the slow burn to passionate connection between Landry and Rowan! They were just perfect together! There is always something special about the way Kaylee Ryan builds a world with a large cast of characters! They’re always so relatable, engaging, and oh-so-intriguing!! I lived for the banter and camaraderie among these friends that made them more like family, and the way they brought Rowan in warmed my heart so much! I’m already so invested in all of them! Although the sensitive topics were handled beautifully, you may still want to check out the trigger warnings, if those are helpful to you as a reader! Full disclosure, I did tear up a bit with this one, happy and sad tears, at different times. I cannot wait for the next Rampage man to fall!!

Thank you to the author for the advanced review copy. My opinions are entirely my own.

Kaylee Ryan came in strong with book 2 in the Nashville Rampage series! I really love this group of friends and the family they've created among themselves — and they all show up for Rowan big time when her abusive ex-boyfriend shows up.

Landry is the brother of Corie and best friend of Knox from Make the Play, so I felt like I really knew him well going into this book. Rowan, not so much. She recently moved to Nashville after a bad breakup and works as a physical therapist for the team. Because she was raised in the foster system and has no family of her own, Rowan feels like she's on the outside of the friend group for much of this story, even though they all try to make her feel included. So when her skeezy ex, Chaz (the best skeezy name, IMO) takes a pay cut to get traded to the team, she understandably freaks out. That's when Landry steps in to pretend to be her boyfriend and get Chaz to back off.

I love a good fake relationship story and this one hit al the right notes. The "fake" part of their relationship doesn't last long at all for Landry, and they slip into an easy, comfortable relationship rather quickly. Rowan is hesitant to give in to her feelings because she doesn't want to lose the family they've created if things don't work out, but it doesn't take much convincing from Landry before she makes the leap.

There are some rough chapters when Chaz assaults Rowan (so trigger warning), but KR wrote the delicate situation so well, and I felt it made a huge impact on the story, especially in how it propelled Rowan to stand up and fight back after years of being abused by Chaz.

All along the way, Landry shows Rowan every day just how much she means to him in both big ways and small. He treats her like a queen, and it was so lovely to see these two get their HEA!

I can't wait for the rest of this series! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Run the Play from author Kaylee Ryan is book in her Nashville Rampage series. This is an interconnected standalone book and can be read as a standalone. Like all Kaylee’s books her stories pull you in and get you hooked from the beginning, Landry and Rowan are no different

In this book we get to know Landry Reynolds, the Rampage star wide receiver and Rowan, the Rampage's physical therapy assistant. I absolutely loved both characters.

First up we have Rowan. Over the years Rowan had been through a lot. Your heart really hurts for everything she’s been through but she is surviving , until her past collides with her current life. Her new group of friends and her devise a plan. A fake boyfriend… enter Landry.

Landry Reynolds is a big ole Cinnamon Roll hero. He’s always happy, and always seems to want to help a person when they need it. So when Rowan needs a fake boyfriend, he steps up. But as time goes on he feels more and more drawn to her. To the point where it’s not fake anymore and so much more.

This one is a bit more slow burn style as you slowly watch their relationship change and progress as time goes. It was nice to watch it unfold.

I absolutely love the original, for lack of a term to describe it meet cute esc or a round trip when we learn of their connection after all. This made me smile.

This friend group is absolutely amazing to watch fall in love and the cast of side characters in each book are all different with all different personalities and circumstances. I can’t wait to read the next family member.

Landry Reynolds, the Rampage star wide receiver and Rowan, the Rampage's physical therapy assistant. I absolutely loved both characters.
First we have Rowan. Over the years Rowan has been through so much, but she is strong willed and a surviver but then her past collides with her present, and her friends and her devise a plan.. to get a fake boyfriend.

Landry Reynolds our MMC is our Cinnamon Roll hero. He's always happy, and always seems to want to help someone when they need it. So when Rowan needs a fake boyfriend, he steps up. But as time goes on he feels more and more drawn to her. To the point where it's not fake anymore and so much more. He’s so passionate and patient with Rowan, letting her how he feels and letting her take the lead of their relationship.
Their tension is so hot hot hot 🥵 I could feel his protection and the love developing. And that twist had my heart in my stomach! And the banter 🔥

Was so fun watching their relationship change and grow, growing closer to each other it starts to feel real, and developed real feelings towards each other.
I loved the friend group, I absolutely loved this read. I can’t wait to for the next couple!
