Who doesn't love a well written thriller with a strong plot and distinctive characters. It really engages the imagination with resonating raw attitude. It's almost too close to real life situations with explosive intrigue entwined around many different synopses. It has everything a good thriller should have including, assassins, FBI Agents, love, betrayal, and just the regular guy living from paycheck to paycheck with a meaningless job (most of us at sometime through out our lives can relate to). I'm sure the sequel will be just as good as this one, I'll be first in line. A truly enjoyable read.

Amazing Thriller! A Must Read!

Amazing Thriller! A Must Read!

This is the first book in the Killer, Candor, Cavelier, Lover series by author Clark Chamberlain , and I cannot wait for the second book in the series. There are so many twists and turns in this book that it keeps you on the edge of your seat from the very beginning. The author uses a writing style that draws the reader in, by first allowing the reader to get to know each of the main characters individually before tying them together within the story. It is a genius concept that allows the reader to get to know the characters, while keeping them in the dark and allowing the mystery and suspense to surround the story. Once I began reading this book I could not put it down. Unlike some of today's thrillers, I could not predict what was going to happen next, and I had to know what the next twist was that the characters were going to have to deal with. I have to say I was never disappointed, and just when I always thought that I was getting to a point in the book where I could put it down for a few minutes, the author would throw in another turn and I'd be on the edge of my seat again unable to put it down.

Clark Chamberlain knows how to write a great suspense novel. He has everything from adventure to corruption, tragedy to an amazing love story that all fits into a plot that keeps the reader not only guessing about what's going to happen next, but wanting more. It's an amazing thriller that should be on everybody's must-read list.

An exciting dark world!

I just completed reading Another Day Another Name (Killer, Candor, Liar, Lover Book 1) by Clark Chamberlain, and I have to say that it is very entertaining. It is full of intrigue and corporate criminal activities, and characters ranging from the normal human victims to assassins and cops and rich guys galore. Henry especially is down on his luck Joe normal. Think Henry as Everyman.

This book is full of criminals, cops, assassins and other sundry characters. You know how sometimes a book or movie takes a character such as a cop, and turns it into a pure example of itself? Now take that pure example and flesh out the character to make it totally believable, and totally human. The main characters in this book are both very human and very much what their roles call for. The relationships are as gritty and full of pain as in real life.

I am used to the various genres having different takes on character development. In science fiction, one may intentionally leave a character undeveloped, so as not to detract from the science and action side of things. This genre leaves character development open for the author, and he does it well.

I am also jealous of the rich bad guys. They are enjoying various luxuries that I didn't even know existed before reading this book, and now I want some! I may also be in love with the female assassin. Read the book, and you will be too. Five stars on this one!

This was a great book, and just the kind that I like to read. It starts off with threads pulled in different directions, but each one of them is interesting - some even wildly so. As the story progresses, each strand weaves into the other, and it bolsters the plot substantially. This book is worthy of its genre - it is a thriller through and through. It's wonderfully written, too. You don't have to take my word for it though. Crack open the sample and give it a look. I guarantee you'll be hooked right from the first paragraph.

This book was fantastic. I really enjoyed the plot in this one. Mabel is the main character and she has been hired to assassinate a corporate business man. He's the head of the top corporation in America in New York. It wasn't really in her life plan to do something like this and she's still a little shocked that this has been the outcome of her life. After the crash, her life changed drastically and she used the skills that the CIA taught her. She's applying these skills to life in a new type of fashion. After the agency that hired Mabel is trying to cover-up their own defeat, Mabel runs away to a small Idaho town. What she doesn't expect is to meet the love of her life. The timing is strange to her as she has just run away from something that impacted her life in a major way. Mabel is still outrunning the FBI, but she wants to stay with her newfound love in Idaho. She goes through the troubled questions if she can still continue to outrun the FBI and if her love will still love her if he finds out what she has done. What an excellent book that was quite the page turner. I really enjoyed this one!

Entertaining book w/ enough surprises to keep me interested. I enjoyed the writing style, which moves quickly and keeps pace. The characters were interesting and it stayed true to the noir genre, with plenty of blurred lines between the goodies and baddies. I admit it's a bit jarring for me to read a noir book set in modern times since I closely associate the genre w/ the past, but it worked well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I actually finished it in one sitting. Who doesn't love corporate drama? Who doesn't love reading about assassins and murder? It is the society we live in now and this book does not disappoint on any of those counts. We have a corporation murdering its own employees to suit its need and its greed. We get to dive into the investigation against the company from the FBI agent's point of view.

Then we have a seemingly separate story about an assassin and a man who is down on his luck. He owes money, a lot of it, and he's working a crappy job for a terrible boss. So far, Henry, our indebted man, is one of the few characters that we actually get to know much about and I'm hoping that means he plays a much larger role in the second book. I also can't wait to see how more about how all of these stories are connected.

If I have one problem with this book, it's that it isn't long enough. I know it is only the first in a series but I would have loved to see more of the characters flushed out. In my world, when this is the only issue, that is a very good thing because you never want your reader to be glad that the book is over. I want more! Chamberlain is a gifted writer and I can't wait to read the other stories that come from his pen!

Wow! Reading this book in the middle of the night is not the best idea. After the last few chapters, I don't think I'll sleep well. All I can think of is Bonnie and Clyde! Which is probably why I would recommend this book for anyone who loves this particular genre, or not. I say, or not, because this is not my favorite genre and yet I can't help but want to read more. I think the characteristics of a good book are all in this novel: Fast moving narrative full of action, twists and turns of plot, well-constructed relationships, believable characters and just enough sex and gore to keep the reader turning the pages. Until well into the night. All quite fitting, I would conclude, for a pulp noir thriller. I hate to admit it, but I actually look forward to reading more of Clark Chamberlain's books and will pass this one on to my husband who will be an immediate fan.

This book impressed me from start to finish. The prose is well written, and immediately draws you into the world the author has created. The action is immediate and breathtaking, and the plot just gets better and better, twisting and turning and tying you into knots. I was a little worried at the start that the excellent writing and pulse racing plot would leave the characters a little flat and hard to empathise with, but I did not have to worry for long. All of the characters in this novel had me intrigued and then attached to them, as they are all so well written and rounded. I have to say, towards the end of this book I simply could not put it down, so fast paced is the action. I was extremely happy to realise there are more books in the series to come, and I am genuinely intrigued about what this author will come up with next.

Pardon the analogy but Chamberlain's Another Day Another Name compares to that of peeling a literary onion. Each layer peels away with fluid ease only to reveal something stronger as you get to the core. You fight back the watery eyes as you feel the elements of love unfold, yet you bite through the sting of the brutality that unfolds throughout the story.
It is portioned nicely for a relaxing read, but the chapters hold you in their grip and leave you yearning for the next turn of the plot. I especially enjoyed the character Henry and his relationship with his father. The love between Allison and Scott smoothed out the edges of a gritty thriller as well.
I will definitely be on the bandwagon for the next installment of the Killer, Candor, Liar, Lover series. Well played indeed.

Contracted killers, conspiracy, new love and always a scary jealous ex, all that and more. Another day, Another Name is an action paced story that keeps you turning the page and guessing how the story will twist next.

Mabel Young is a for hire killer with a need to relocate and change things. She choices a sleepy town in Idaho, never realizing the danger that she would find there. But first she finds the love of her life, which like so many good love stories, is where the story gets good.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, it was a unique twist on corporate conspiracy and a true page turner.
