Beguiling a Billionaire #7

Hacking His Code: Beguiling a Billionaire, Book 7

Rate this book
I must confess.

I did something very naughty....

And I haven’t learned my lesson.

I was late on tuition....

In a mountain of debt...

And morally obligated to grant my mother’s dying wish to get my college degree. Which is why I was on the seedy underbelly of the internet, cruising for a hacking job.

I had no idea Hunter Davies, the elusive tech giant, was watching me, and when I passed his little impromptu pop quiz, he sent armed men to bring me to his estate.

And let me tell you... He is a piece of work! He’s disgustingly rich, with arrogance in spades. He should be in jail for what he’s done to me!

But...he offered me a job. One that could make all my problems disappear. And as much as I hate to admit it, he’s flippin’ otherworldly levels of gorgeous!

Now, I have one week to solve a 24-year-old cold case, or else, I go home empty-handed. Just one I have to pretend to be his girlfriend in front of his parents, who are itching for grandkids.

I agree to his terms, and somehow, one thing leads to another...and I wake up in his bed. This is not how the job was supposed to go.

I hate men - they can’t be trusted!

But the more I learn about Hunter, the less my logic makes sense.

I’m supposed to be solving one of the greatest mysteries of our time, not falling in love!

And as I'm about to find out, if I don’t figure this all out soon, it could cost us everything…

Hacking His Code is a stand-alone romantic comedy that fits into the bigger Beguiling a Billionaire world! If you love to laugh, if you crave a sexy sizzle, and if you hate cliff-hangers - this book is for you!

The Socially Awkward Hacker Girl finds love...

This one was just okay for me. It was just a skosh too new adult for me.

Arinessa is a 21yo college student and hacker. She needs money desperately for tuition to finish her degree. An enigmatic message appears offering her more than what she needs for a simple hack. But things aren't as simple as they appear when Ari is whisked away by masked men to who knows where.

Hunter is a reclusive billionaire who needs a hacker to help unravel an old family mystery and thinks Ari is up for the job. He has had to keep people at arms length his whole life and has trouble connecting and trusting others. Though with Ari something is different.

Hunter and Ari grow close as they uncover old secrets, one after another. They learn to trust each other as their worlds implode around them. They build a connection that they have never experienced with anyone before. But mysterious outside forces just may force them apart for good.

I had a terrible time connecting with Ari and Hunter. Ari acted like a pouty 15yo. Her feelings and emotions kept switching back and forth so quickly, I almost got whiplash. I understand she is innocent and not used to dealing with people but her reactions to situations were not believable and so not relatable.

Hunter was supposedly this 28 yo billionaire, with a past of multitudes of women, and on the verge of running his family's tech company yet he also acted no better than a teenager. Especially with his decisions in how he handled Ari, being in a relationship with her and then his contradictory feelings towards her.

It was instalove, which I don't always mind but it was super juvenile. Maybe I'm just getting too old, but they just behaved so immaturely I couldn't really connect with them or believe their feelings for each other. It wasn't terrible, it just wasn't great.

Even though this is an ARC review, I will always shoot you straight. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was my first time reading Lark Anderson and I was a bit worried that I'd be lost in the sauce since I haven't read the previous books (and once I finished this one, I went back and 1-clicked the series), but luckily this can be read as a standalone so I didn't feel like I was missing big chunks from the series. I sympathize with Ari's decision about her tuition money, although I can't say for certain that would be the route I would take (mainly because I don't possess any of Ari's skills), but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to get that bag. Loved the chemistry between Hunter and Ari, it seemed to catch the both of them by surprise, but in a good way (eventually). I got a kick out of the fake relationship aspect of the book, and the mystery that had Hunter coming in contact with Ari. A bit of drama to shake things up in the story, but it all worked out in the end for these two.

This is the 7th book in this series and is Hunter and Ari’s story. Aris is a former hacker who is broke and with mounting medical bills for her sick mom, and she is offered lots of money in an online challenge which leads her to meeting Hunter. Hunter is a wealthy billionaire, which wants a fake girlfriend to introduce to his parents who are desperate for grandchildren, as well using her hacking skills to solve the mystery regarding his aunt Lucy who went missing years previously. This is a well written tale which is filled with drama, twists, mystery, and is a humorous and entertaining read. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Lots of humor, with twists and turns and unpredictable
The story is just great from the first page to the end. There isn't a single downtime, in the action, the intrigue, the romance, all with a regular sarcastic note of humor from the heroine Arinessa.
I loved the tone of the character of Arinessa: she is a young girl from a poor family, computer genius, who has to pay her tuition and who has a bit heavy history of hacking despite her young age. She is abrasive, smart, funny, and desperate to get by, to the point of being persuaded by Hunter, a wealthy heir, to do research for him. Each of them does not trust anyone and this is not the only common point they will find.

I had never read this author before & really enjoyed her writing. It was easy to read & kept you engaged. I loved the plot of this book & trying to piece all the missing pieces together. I will admit I had it mostly figured out before the big reveal minus a few details. I liked seeing Hunter & Ari move from guy who kidnapped her to deeply in love. I love the little surprise near the end that was really a surprise but something I love to have happen in books.

I really enjoyed this story & all the characters. I’d love to read the rest of the groups stories as well.

“I get five steps before running straight into and barreling over something in my way, sending me crashing downward.
A groan comes from underneath me. That something in my way was a someone.”

Arinessa Sylvan is 24 years old, she’s in her last year of college, her mother is incredibly sick, her father bolted and she has accumulated and huge amount of debt thanks to that...
Oh did I mention she’s a hacker? Or at least was? No? So let me tell you that Arinessa is one of the best hackers in the world. At age 15 she was already hacking like a pro... the problem? She got caught and gave it all up. For 6 years she has kept her nose low and hasn’t done anything illegal. But with debt pilling up and college menacing expulsion if she doesn’t pay her loan, she cracks and that’s when her problems (or should I say fun) really begins.

“You filthy pervert,” she shouts, pummeling me with her tiny fists. “You can’t get laid, so you hire muscled thugs to kidnap—”
I shield my face, allowing a couple punches in for her benefit before grabbing her wrists and setting her straight.
“Oh, I assure you—I can get laid. And even if I couldn’t, it’s certainly not something I’d look for from you.”
She narrows her eyes at me, and I realize how that sounded.
“I mean—”
“Good, because I am never, ever, in a million years—EVER—going to fuck you!”
That’s a shame.
Even in times of extreme duress, men never truly get their heads out of the gutter, and I can confirm that my mind has already envisioned three ways of fucking her since she was dragged into the reception area from the elevator.
But this is business.”

Hunter Davies is a wet dream waiting to happen. The man is gorgeous, taught, muscular and lean, smart and born into wealth.
Or in the well put words of our heroine “Oh, and he’s dangling a carrot just out of my reach—one that I desperately need.”

Hunter offers Arinessa a job, solving a cold case - his aunt disappearance. Despite being the heir to a tech company that has the best of the best working there, he’s convinced that if anyone can solve this case is Arinessa.

“Wanting someone so desperately is like slow, sweet torture. You don’t even know that you’re giving away pieces of yourself to be devoured until it’s too late”

The attraction between the two is immediate and undeniable, but will they both be able to overcome their damage to see the beauty of their relationship? What about the case they’re working? Will it be solved and if so will it bring closure or more pain to the family?

I liked this book a lot.
I love Larks writing style, her sense of humor and the twist and turns she puts in her books.
The plot for this book is very good and tho I did guessed it from the beginning, it was still a very pleasant read.

Arc kindly provided by the author.

Airinessa/Ari needs money to finish college and help her seriously ill mother and she is “kidnapped” after she hacks into a computer system to earn money. It turns out that Hunter didn’t want her “kidnapped”, he just wanted his men to bring her to his place because he wanted her to use her compute skills to help him find out what happened to his aunt years ago. Hunter is a handsome tech billionaire that offers Ari $1 million to help him and he’d like her to be his pretend girlfriend to keep his parents off his back because they would like to see him married and have a family. Ari agrees because she needs the money and Hunter has 3 women give Ari a makeover. As they work together they become attracted although they they have very different backgrounds and finds him arrogant. Will they be able to solve the mysterious disappearance and find a way to find happiness together?

I thoroughly enjoyed this fun story with the computer nerd and the tech company heir. The book had hilarious moments with the “kidnapping” that Hunter refers to as a misunderstanding as well as the 3 women that Hunter hired to help Ari with a makeover. There is also a serious plot with the computer search for details about Hunter’s aunt and the developing feelings of both Ari and Hunter. It was also fun seeing some characters from the Beguiling a Billionaire series again. The epilogue was a fantastic end to Hunter and Ari’s story.

I adore hacker or cyber crime books. They are my kryptonite.

I was highly curious about Hacking His Code after reading the blurb. A former child hacker, scared straight, decides to play on the web for a bit as her life slowly unwinds. Only - her actions bring her to a possible life saving solution in many ways. This plot has shades of one of my favorite young hacker in trouble with the law books. I was very very much sold.

Arinessa is watching her world crumble as she struggles to pay for her last semester of college while also trying to care for her terminally ill mother. One night time foray into her old habits leads her to a job offer - which begins with the very best kidnapping scene I’ve ever read. It’s hysterical.

The opening chapters set the stage for the remainder of the book. Hunter Davies lives in the shadows, not out of fear, but due to his upbringing. Intensely private, he’s looking for help in locating his aunt who went missing decades ago. Arinessa hacked herself right into his interview and nailed it. Now she’s stuck living in Hunter’s penthouse, combing through the cold case files, and playing his girlfriend in order to hide her true mission from Hunter’s parents.

The mystery of Aunt Lucy’s disappearance, combined with Swiss cheese investigation documents, coupled with Lucy’s journals and a highly unhackable file Lucy left on the company’s servers all build to a wonderful tense swirl. Add in Hunter fighting his attraction to Arinessa and Ari struggling with her draw to Hunter. One recluse of a tech genius and one intensely private tech billionaire make for steamy romance.

Hacking His Code is the final book in the Beguiling a Billionaire series. I did read this book as a stand alone without reading any of the prior books in the series. It was an enjoyable read with the cast of the other books jumping into Hunter and Arinessa’s story. This story piqued my curiosity, hence the first six books are now on my TBR shelf.

Honestly, this book was such a fun read. It read quickly without any huge plot lags. My main “complaints” are that I would have liked the book to have been longer. Ms. Anderson wrote the mystery of Aunt Lucy spectacularly. I wish she could have dragged it out a bit further. I did catch on to the ending due to a heavy clue in the middle of the story. The only other issue I had was at the very end of the book when Ms. Anderson introduced all of the prior characters in the series into the story. She did so in a bit of a rush so keeping up with who was who in the last chapters required a bit of flipping back and forth for me.

Overall, I really enjoyed this read. It is one I will be saving to revisit after I read the earlier books in the series. I’ll also be adding this to my summer reads recommendations. It is the perfect blend of heavy topics, suspense, and insta steam to make for a great beach or summer day read.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! By the time you’ve figured out who is who and who to like and dislike, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter!
Can’t say I didn’t warn you.
I really love their story Ari needs money to complete college and continue to help her mom who is extremely ill and so she goes searching for a hacking job and yep finds one and completes it just to be kidnapped for doing said job. But in reality, sexy billionaire Hunter needed her help in finding his aunt who just disappeared some years ago and to be his fake girlfriend to appease his parents who want him with a family but mainly she agreed to have the ability to continue helping her mom. The chemistry between these two is hotter the habanero peppers and it all starts out as a job to them both, but emotional bonds weren’t on the menu, and attachments certainly weren’t supposed to form but when love rears her beautiful head and throws yet another wrench into the works well you end up with this number here, but question is will they get their own HEA?

This was a really cute book that had me in stitches at times. A true romantic comedy with some twists and an entertaining story that is hard to put down. This is the seventh and final book in the Beguiling a Billionaire Series but is read as a standalone. But if you've read any of the other books you may recognize some characters. Ari and Hunter are wonderful characters who both have baggage but they are so great together. Lots of drama, a 24 year old cold case, a little hacking and a fake girlfriend and it doesn't stop there. No cliffhanger and a happy ending are good things in romantic book world. I read an arc via the author and voluntarily chose to review it.

I have never read this author before and this story was so awesome I need to go back and read this entire series. It also easily stands alone.

This is Ari's story. She is a broke college student with a sick mother and lots of hospital bills. She is also a former hacker and gets offered a lot of money in an online challenge and thats how she ends up meeting Hunter.

Hunter works for his families tech company and is hot and rich and has two wonderful parents. But many years before his aunt Lucy went missing and so he wants Ari to find his aunt and solve the mystery of what happened to her.

To be honest I figured out the plot twist fairly easily but how it all came out I could not predict. I absolutely loved this story and could not put it down. We also meet the characters from previous books and I loved them so much that I need to read their stories as well.

This was a fantastic romance and I adored the mystery behind the story. I loved all the characters I met as well and plan to start this series from the beginning.

I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Lark Anderson is a new to me author, so I can honestly say it's safe to come in late to the Beguiling a Billionaire series as I wasn't lost whatsoever. Ari is a college girl who is struggling with money so she takes her hacking skills for a job that maybe she should have questioned a tad bit more since she's pretty much kidnapped by the man who needs her. Hunter is the reclusive billionaire who has for all intents & purposes, kidnapped Ari since he needed a hacker to help him with a family mystery, but little did he know that it would end up being so much more. They have serious chemistry, and the mysterious twists were coming in hot (that's my happy place) as some I saw coming while there were plenty of others that I didn't see coming. My one beef was these two acted immature more than once, and I understood when it came to Ari because she's not worldly plus she's younger, but Hunter was a player so why would he act that way when it came to a woman?! I don't know why I felt like that but I did. Anyway, I'm definitely very intrigued to read the previous books in this series, and will keep my eye out for new releases, so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Ari is a hacker who needed money fast to pay her tuition. As she was looking for a quick job to help her debt problem, Hunter Davies, a “tech giant” billionaire, was watching her and, pleased with the result, sent armed men to bring her to his estate for a job offer. The deal was that she has only one week to solve a 24-year-old cold case regarding his aunt’s disappearance. If she can’t, she gets nothing for her efforts. And in the meantime, he needs her to be his fake girlfriend in front of his parents who are desperate for grandchildren. What wasn’t in their agreement was her ending up in his bed. Men cannot be trusted, right? But she was soon to find there is more at stake regarding this old mystery than she realized. Could she solve it?

This is a very enjoyable story. Misunderstandings lead to humorous situations, which is the kind of story I enjoy. And the mystery will keep the reader avidly following the story line to find out what happened back then and how it affects the story later. Grab your copy and enjoy a well-written book!

At 15 Arinessa Sylvan was charged with a federal crime; she was let off but her actions had consequences.

Year’s later she’s about to be kicked out of school, her mother is sick, and she’s got no other options but to go looking on the dark web again. Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner?

And then she’s kidnapped or so she thinks... this time the stakes are high. All her problems will be taken care of if she helps Hunter Davies with his investigation.

The more time Hunter and Ari spend together the closer they become, but are their demons too dark to over come? She’s got a fear of men and relationships, and he’s got trust issues. They are more alike than they think, is it enough though?

➖➖➖➖➖➖

I enjoyed this more than I anticipated. The geek and the heir... an unusual pairing but yet some how it was a captivating tale. Well worth the read. Even though this is an addition to a series it was a decent standalone and I didn’t feel like I had to have read the others prior to reading this (Note: I haven’t read the other stories in this series, I picked this one up first).

The naive Hacker and the Billionaire
by Happy-Girl

Loneliness is something Hunter the Billionaire and Arinessa the Hacker have in common. Hunter is too rich to trust easily friends and lady friends, so he is lonely, and he isn't aware that only love is the solution. Arinessa, Ari, had a complicated life as a teen-age, so she doesn't have any kind of friends, and she longs for a relationship, and hopes for true love.
Some family circumstances make Hunter search for Ari, a hacker with some morals. And... some family circumstances make Ari accept Hunter's proposal.
What begins as a business proposal will end in a sizzling relation and after that, a HEA!
If you put some cold case mistery in the mix and some suspense till the end, you have another delightful book, full of surprises, by Lark Anderson!

I really liked this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable. The characters were interesting and likable. The mystery of Aunt Lucy’s disappearance, with investigation documents full of holes, plus Lucy’s journals and an extremely unhackable file Lucy left on the company’s servers all add to the suspense. Hunter and Ari (Arinessa) fighting their mutual attraction adds in another layer to this story. A romance between a reclusive tech genius and an intensely private tech billionaire - I'm ready to read that! Ari has a ton going on in her life between trying to get the money to finish her last semester of college and take care of her mother. That situation leads her to entertain old habits which gets her in Hunter's sights, as well as a fake relationship to fool his parents. I loved their happy ever after (and the extended happy ever after!). I recommend reading this book.

Where has Lark Anderson been hiding and why have my bookish friends and I not found her until now?! HACKING HIS CODE was my first book from this author and I’m running to pick up the rest of her backlist because this was such a perfect romcom with sprinkles of mystery and great writing that had me glued to my Kindle!

I knew I wanted this book from the moment I read the blurb and loved the story inside once I dove in, but LAWD!!! This girl was in heaven when I realized that the heroine was my namesake!! Yes, this is Ari and Hunter’s romance. She’s a ex-hacker down on her luck and he’s a billionaire with a mystery to solve and a need for certain someone with tech skills. I loved the chemistry these two had and watching them give into one another. Major swoons, laughs, and sizzle with every turn of the page. Loved!

I don't usually read Romcoms, but, I've been reading so much dark romance, I figured, give it a try! I read the blurb, and I was enticed! So, I now have another new author to expand my ever growing TBR list! I can tell you, there is no way I'll be able to read them all in this lifetime, probably not even the books I've purchased!

I enjoyed Ari and Hunter's story! I laughed out loud!

And, steamy scene lovers, yep, there's that too!

Lots of FUN!!!

This book was oh so good. Great character development and stories. Such a mystery rolled up with an unlikely love story. Arinessa and Hunter are two peas in a jacked up pod but perfect for each other. With them both unable to trust people and form lasting relationships it’s only fitting that they fall in love. The crazy mystery surrounding his aunt’s disappearance, when it all comes to light it is shocking. I kept turning page after page waiting to find out what Ari finds and to learn the truth. What happened was not at all what i saw coming. Great story though and I look forward to the other’s in this series. Also, i need to go back and start from book one even though each story is a standalone. Good work Lark.

I really enjoyed reading Hacking His Code by Lark Anderson because it was an intense and suspenseful and steamy story about Hunter and Arinessa. Arinessa was great at hacking computers. She got in trouble as a kid by the FBI and kind of shied away from it. Things were spiraling out of control in her life and she needed money. She got herself kidnapped and brought to Hunter Davies estate where the real adventure began. This story kept me on the edge of my seat wondering how everything was going to play out. There was drama and suspense and so much heated steam from Hunter and Arinessa. This was a wonderful story that I would highly recommend reading.

Rating is 4.5

This is the latest book in a series, but I honestly forgot about that until I was a decent way into the story. This is to say you do not need to read the previous books to enjoy. I have only read one of the others in the series but I have to change that soon.

Before beginning, I didn’t love the story blurb. I didn’t think I was going to enjoy the book but was intrigued from the beginning and couldn’t put it down.

Ari and Hunter had great chemistry. They are both passionate about those they care about and it pushes them beyond their normal boundaries. Lots of unconventional actions which kept the story interesting and unpredictable.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This book is a romantic comedy but still has some serious times. Ari is trying to complete her college education and pay medical bills from mother. She decides to put to her hacker skills to use to come up with the money. That is where Hunter comes into her life. He had set up a test to find the person to help solve an old missing person case. The woman who disappeared was his aunt. While that is serious, the interactions between these two will have you laughing at times. The kidnapping sets off a few twists and turns. They did not expect the chemistry between them not the things they might uncover.

Arinessa down on her luck and desperate for money, and using the only skills she has- hacking, she goes on line.  Trying to solve one puzzle as a way to earn money, gets her picked up by the men of a rich guy called Hunter who wants her to work for him.
This is so dramatic and full of intense emotion all the away through.  Lots of intimacy and steamy moments to but the mystery she needs to solve id's the main theme throughout this book.
Extremely well written, I loved the dialogue and the sassy word play throughout thay just had me laugh out loud a few times. The characters, Hunter and Arinessa couldn't be more different yet made sense together as their chemistry just took the book to another level. Loved it all!

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.

This was a great and unique book! I have not read the previous books, but I didn't feel like I was missing anything while reading. Hunter and Arinessa are fantastic characters. Ari is so smart and insanely talented. I love that she's crazy good at her job. And Hunter very intense about everything!

I loved the mystery and secrecy in this book. I figured out half of it, but was completely clueless for the rest, so that was refreshing.

I'm really glad I got the chance to read this book and get introduced to this author. I may be looking into more of her books soon!

Ok romantic Comedy, Suspense and Mystery
Ari needs money and fast, she has her mothers medical bills, everyday bills and her college tuition to pay. So deep in the underbelly of the web she searches for any easy and anonomous payday. What she finds is Trouble, because the next thing she knows she is being "kidnapped". Hunter the Billionaire says it was a "Misunderstanding" he was offering her a "Job".
So the story goes opposites do attract, but not without questions and a very old Family Mystery that leads them down a dark and terrifying discovery. Love may be involved.

Man, this book was just full of surprises. I didn't know what to expect when I first started reading it, but I loved every minute of this book. It was a whodunit, romance, and a bunch of other things all in one.
The characters were great and I love how friends popped up in unexpected places. And that big twist at the end - I was bouncing in my seat because I had kind of guessed it earlier in the book and was happy that I was right.

I really enjoyed this book and would love to read more from this author. I may need to go and check out the rest of the books that take place in the same world.

This book was so great! I didn't know it was going to have so many twists and turns.

While it had the romance and comedy feels to it it also had the angst and suspense. It gets you hooked!

Ari and Hunter where great together, they had that instant connection and chemistry. My only complain, and its not Huge, was that it would have made this story so much more amazing if Hunter wasn’t portrayed as such a playboy with all his “lady friends” it would have made it so much sweeter if he was a nerd and introvert like Ari, but hey we cant win them all right? Ari was so kickass, loved how smart she was!

This is a great story to get lost into, give this one a try!

This is a romantic comedy focusing on the relationship between Arinessa/Ari Sylvan, who has a history of computer hacking and needs tuition money to complete her college degree, and Hunter Davies, a wealthy businessman who is willing to pay her one million dollars to find his missing aunt who is the twin of his mother. Hunter insists Ari must stay with him at his family home as his fake girlfriend. The characters are perfect for this book with their fun banter, steamy attraction, and wonderful romance.

I loved this book! Ari was looking for a quick fix to help her financial situation....she new when she pressed the button she was taking a risk. Hunter needs someone help him solve a family mystery that’s been bugging him. He may have taken it a step too far when reaching out to Ari.

As their lives collide so do their feelings! Both of them have reasons for wanting more in the relationship but can they survive the secrets.

This is a fun rom-com with many laughs and lots of angsty heat!

I requested an arc and I’m leaving my honest review.

A funny & sexy story that held my attention from start to finish...
This is only the third book I've read by this author but I love her writing style It brought every feeling to the table & the humour had me literally laughing out loud. I won't detail the story itself which has been outlined in the blurb & previous reviews but I loved the main characters. The heroine was smart & sassy & the arrogant billionaire required her skills as a hacker & then wanted to teach her how skilled he was in the bedroom, they were explosive! I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.
