Rate this book
Book Three in the time travel, fantasy romance trilogy, Highland Secrets! Her sister is lost...in the past. Three weeks after her sister goes missing, Juliette McGowan encounters her on a beach in Scotland. Her sister gives her a scroll full of claims about time travel and disappears-literally. As a sister, Jules is determined to find her. As a cop, she can't go to the authorities. The piece of parchment declares magic exists; they'd think she's nuts. When a mysterious woman vows she can help her get to the seventeenth century, Jules goes along with it out of desperation. He's an infamous barbarian... Hugh MacDonald is intrigued when he finds a disoriented naked lass on the beach. She holds a scroll that was written by his rival's wife. Clan MacLeod will pay ransom for her safe return, so he takes her captive. She challenges his authority-and his desires. What started off as a plan to anger the MacLeods ends with Hugh wanting to keep her for himself. Can Jules break free of the barbarian, find her sister and return to the future or will she give in to her attraction and desire to remain in the past?

This book was definitely the best out of the series! It was action packed and I was completely drawn in from the start. So much so that I read the whole book in one sitting! It showed a lot of growth from the first book in the series and tied everything together so well, it really was the perfect ending to the series! And time travel made a reappearance so I was quite thrilled about that! All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this story and couldn't have imagined a more fitting ending.

C. A. Szarek’s “The Parchment Scroll” is the third installment in the “Highland Secrets” series. I loved it. You can read it as a standalone, but why would you want to? Lots of sexy highlander candy. I thought the storyline was interesting and unique. The sex scenes are amazing. I wish it was longer. I hope there’s more coming in this series. I definitely have this author on my permanent TBR list.

Phew! Hot Scotsman alert! I love their banter as well.

Notice how she says "her barbarian"...a lot? The lady definitely protests too much.

Bridei is one creepy chick. That must be every mother's worst nightmare.

Oh. My. God.

I love the sister scenes.

I can't wait to read what happens next.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

The series follows the story well from book to book. At least I could still follow the story with all the throbbing body parts, the tongue twisting, and the endless self talk/mind games the characters play.
Please stop having the women whimper all the time. You make them sound as if they are dogs. Could you just once have the main characters acknowledge their love before they acknowledge their lust.

Outstanding

I love the mystery and intriguing way the author wraps her creativity around each character. The intense sexual desire the two main characters share for each other shows throughout the story. A delightful book. Definitely recommend.

The Parchment Scroll is the third book in the Highland Secret Series. Although it can stand alone, it would be best to read the previous two books to get a better grasp of the overarching theme of magic and time travel from the future to 16th century Scotland. Jules is on a mission to find her missing sister Claire who was declared lost while visiting Scotland. She couldn't believe her eyes when Claire suddenly appears before her, naked and telling her a story of time travel and never coming back. She then poofs and is gone again, leaving a parchment scroll detailing a life that Claire has lived in the Scottish Highlands, several centuries ago. Determined to find out what is going on, she enlist the help of a mysterious but weirdly dressed woman who keeps mumbling about getting home and the Fae stones. Gathering her courage to at least follow this woman to the said stones that would bring her to her sister, Jules suddenly finds herself naked on the beach, being pursued and thoroughly kissed by a hot Scottish barbarian. What follows next is a story about time travel, magic and a love that defies time. The Parchment Scroll is one entertaining and engaging read that has good characters, great dialogue and an interesting story line. The romance is the main focus, with the overarching theme mostly in the background. Both Hugh and Jules display strong personalities and those differing opinions make for great reading.

"3.5 out of 5 stars, a woman who is searching for her missing sister finds a lead of a lifetime if only she can get around the fact that she has to travel into the past to find her. Than once she sees her sister again, she learns that the woman who helped her is trying to tear apart everything she's now opened up her heart too. Will she stay to love and protect her new loved ones or will she reconcile that going back to her reality would be the best choice for her after all?

I really liked how this novel is stand-alone while still updating the reader as to what the MacLeod clan is up too! However, what pulled me into this novel was the constant banter that Juliette (Jules) & Hugh share, as it's hilarious at times and sweet while you get to see how their feelings grow for one another."

Great stories from C. A. Szarek

A time travel story worth reading! I purchased her first in this series and as soon as I finished I went and bought the rest! I loved them all! No dragging out of the story line. It was just perfect. There are a few editorial mistakes but I happily skipped over them. If you enjoy time travel you will enjoy her stories. Give me a highlander like Hugh or Duncan. ❤️ hope she brings more lucky women back from the future for Colin and the others.
