It’s Halloween, and the pagans and fundamentalists are front and center in Book 2 of the Urban Farm Mystery series.

Vergie Dell thinks something ought to be done about the pagans, who are joyously gearing up for the Halloween season. She enlists Rowdy Snyder and a ragtag gang of followers to thwart their plans.

Morticia Mars is a flamboyant pagan who doesn't mince words. Her elaborate plans for community-wide October celebration are about to crash down around her ears as public outrage and a sinister stalker dog her every step.

When a protester disrupts a ritual and comes up missing, Emma and Free step in to sort things out. But the town has had one too many upsets of late, and its citizens are sitting on a powder keg of emotion. The seasonal Zombie Walk and a sidewalk preacher do little to calm the fevered masses.

About the author

Yvonne Loveday

Yvonne Loveday was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. She broke out and ran around the country for a decade, but eventually came back. She got a degree in journalism and wrote for local newspapers before settling into public relations for a good, long time. She broke out of that, too.

Her love of all things green began as a youngster when her grandmother let her borrow Organic Gardening and Farming magazines. Together they read regional authors. Granny often said the good old days weren’t that good. Yvonne never really believed her. She also said Yvonne should be a writer. Yvonne is just now thinking that might be a possibility.

She is currently working on her third Urban Farm Mystery. When Yvonne isn’t writing, she’s obsessively knitting, watching cult TV, or reading. She lives with her son, grandson, a dachshund named Magoo, and three black cats. She really can’t explain her obsession with the Sunsphere, Knoxville’s relic of a World’s Fair that moved on.

So much fun to read! And educational, too - provided me with many ideas to mull over before the next gardening season begins. It was brilliantly entertaining following Vergie and Rowdy as they did their best to protect their community from the pagans and equally entertaining to see what the pagans did to protect themselves. The zombie walk scene was pure gold, and following the backlash of it all on the blog was delightful. I can't wait to see what Free and Emma get caught up in next!

Another fun read of the somewhat continuing adventures of urban gardeners, Emma and Free. This one revolves more around another colourful character, pagan and makeup artist, Morticia Mars. Someone is out to harm her and at the same time, the extreme gun-toting Christians led by nutcase Vergie Dell, are raising hell in order to save her and other Knoxvillites souls from their Satan worshiping ways.

Yvonne did at least as well with this book she did with the first. Read it in one day. Can't wait for the third book. I hope this will be a continuing series. I love it.
