I think this book has some good ideas. Since I'm studying for a big test in a few months I can use all the memory ideas I can get. I will try these ideas in this book and see if they help. I can only hope because I don't want to take a 6 hour test again. lol I guess I'm skeptical weather these ideas will work for me. * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*
Instant Memory is a quick read being about 40 pages long. At first I thought "oh this will help me remember things for my test and at work". Soon did I realize that I forget way more than keywords and phrases. I am that guy on the first page who walks in a room and forgets what they need. I forget to lock my car doors. Instant memory gave me tricks to help battle those problems. I have only been implementing a few of these methods the past few days so it is hard to tell how effective these methods are, but so far I have seen some increase in my memorization.
Like everything else in your body the brain is a muscle, and I like many others forget that. We work out every other muscle so why not work out our brain too. We fail to see the importance of that.
So far I have been using the mind palace method and the peg method. The mind palace method makes so much sense to me. To link what you need to memorize to other things. I completely agree that the more silly the visualization is the easier it is to memorize. I have tried to use this method when learning vocabulary in accounting this week. It hasn't been a crazy change, but I have noticed an improvement. My favorite method is the peg method. The peg method you do not need to memorize things in order. I think I will be able to use this greatly for test when things are out of order.
This book does say instant and while I have not seen my memory increase instantly I am sure if I keep at it will increase a ton. Like anything if you keep practicing you will get better. If you work out your muscles they will get bigger. The same goes for the brain.
Aside from some of the spelling errors this was a great book. If you use it everyday I think it can help just about anyone. The book has a ton of great info, including history on where the methods came from. The book also goes over giving your full attention to the subject and not being distracted, going over what you want to memorize, how to make connections, and getting your senses involved. With the application of these tips it makes it easier to memorize whatever you want.
All through my life, I have had memory problems. It wasn't severe at all but definitely bothered me. I could remember not remembering where I put things or what happened in the book 3 days later. I actually began researching a couple days ago and decided on buying this book.
I read this book in a day out of interest and I am very impressed with the content. Content that I have actually never heard of before, such as visual association. There also were a couple of things that I have heard of for example the brain is like a human super computer that needs recharging for better memorization. I already knew about that but the book will explain it in great detail. It gives concrete examples of why it will improve your memory and how.
It has been 3 days since I read this book so I have used the methods mentioned and applied them to my daily life. I have noticed slight changes but keep in mind, this will not improve your memory instantly contrary to what the title may say. It will take some time to incorporate these methods to start memorizing things in a whole new different way, maybe a couple days for you to notice.
The way I think everybody does it is to keep forcing persistent memorization hoping things will stick, but once you read the book, it will give you that ah-ha a better shortcut way.
Overall, this book is really good at explaining how to improve your memory. The information is very well written with lots of content and detail.
The Instant Memory Skills book was an amazingly quick read. It took about twenty to twenty-five minutes to read it in the first sitting. And of course I had to read it again to solidify what I’ve learned in order to actually apply it in real time. This Instant Memory book has a similar format to the other Instant-Series books I’ve read. The book is pretty interactive and gives little activities that you can try in order to better retain the information. The author gives the information about the particular skill, how to apply it, an example and then a “try it” section. While “try it” may not seem like a big deal, it adds a personal effect to the book, thus separating from other cookie cutter guides. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone trying to improve their memory skills with little things that you can use throughout the day. For 99 cents, it’s worth the read.
Instant Memory is exactly what the names implies. It contains many ways to quickly improve your memory.
Reading this short book and following the tips and techniques described within it has helped me to remember more of the things I usually forget as I am getting older. Forget to write your grocery list? Well, visualizing the items you need in a strange way can help to cement the thought in your mind so that you can remember those items without a list. Need to remember numbers or addresses? The same type of visualization technique can help with that too.
After a few days, the tips given in this book have become a game to me. I try to remember things now without lists and must say I have noticed a good improvement in my memory.
I've read several books that have been recommended to improve memory, and while they may haven been more exhaustive and detailed in their explanations, this book wraps it up quickly and concisely. So if you want a brief overview of a self help guide for memory improvement, this is perfect. I would suggest this for students or those who struggle with forgetfulness. The Instant premise is great as many books tend to add repetitive chapters and information to make their books longer. This will help people avoid frustration with the unnecessary filler in so many How-to books. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The thing that amazes me about this Instant Series is how they cut all of the unnecessary fluffs other books have to the heart of what matters.
This book was a simple breeze to go through but is compacted with very effective memorization techniques I found to be really useful! As it says, Instant Memory promises to increase your memory instantly, and for this one, I agree, it does with 2 of the tricks it shows you. To me, it was a light bulb moment flipping off.
I would say this can be quick-fix for those who need a quick memory booster as what they presents are actionable.
