Instant Focus: How to Get and Stay Focused at what You’re Doing Instantly!

The guide to instant focus from the Instant-series team takes an introspective turn. What is contributing to your lack of focus? Are you tired? Distracted? Or just plain lazy? “Instant Focus” approaches many different facets of focus and different situations. Even in environments where I hadn’t considered ‘focus’ to be a factor or culprit for faults, such as focus in relationships. But it makes perfect sense in how it’s laid out.

This installment from the Instant-series team reads differently than some of the others I’ve read. There is good information within some of the condemning language. If read in a certain context or with a particular pretense, some of the language of “Instant Focus” feels like an attack. But at its core, this book is encouraging one thing: honesty. Be honest with yourself. How do you feel? Are you really putting forth an appropriate effort? It can be difficult to stare down some of the questions, but if you are to improve your focus, they are topics which need broached.

The tips to regain focus in the moment are concise and clear to understand. They are simple and mostly boil down to changing your environment, from leaving your desk to changing your clothes. And larger areas of focus can be broken down to how you are approaching them. Try smaller, attainable goals and being self-aware in the moment. Mostly though, just slow down. There are some very powerful statements of affirmation sprinkled throughout as well.

“Instant Focus” contains a lot of seeming common sense. It forces you to consider why you’re unable to focus. And gives you practical tips on how to make those changes. Again the team keeps the “Instant” true, as I finished the during my lunch break with a half-hour to spare.

The very beginning of the book asks a lot of us. Basically telling us we're weak for not trying to maintain focus. But, then again, it's really hard to maintain focus in every day life with all of the attention grabbing we receive. Technology, instant messaging, everything coming in so fast that we don't have time to really sit down and think about what we're doing.

This book teaches us the foundations of a healthy body, including proper rest and how to take care of issues when they arise, even if you're brain is not there at all. We must challenge our bodies and minds especially in relationships. These require so much energy that we may not even realize. Our kids need our attention 24/7, even if we don't necessarily feel like being a parent that day. It's a matter of a developing child, like your developing focus, needing your attention and support.

Personally, my own focus was in question when I even considered this book. I felt like I was having trouble paying attention to the world around me, getting caught up in my own head. So I figured a short little book wouldn't hurt to tell me what I needed to do. The passion and voice behind the author makes it feel like they're talking directly to you. There was a time for you to come back and take on the world with full vigor. This book allowed me to figure out what I wanted from my life, what I felt was passionate to me, and overall who was important to me. This cut out a lot of time where I was debating if I should go out or not. It was time to stay focused on my work and leave my down time for other days. Staying focused was important to keeping on task and on point.

It's time to boost your own confidence in this book. Focus is easily attainable if you choose to keep your brain

With two kids, work, household chores, and everything else I have to get done in a day to do, it can be really hard for me to focus on any one task very well. I’m always constantly worried about, or thinking about something else that I need to do.

The easiest part of the whole process for me was figuring out the cause of my lack of focus; too many things to do and not enough time! I figured out there were some basic weaknesses within me that weren’t letting me just let go of everything else and focus on one particular thing at a time. I had to come to terms with the fact that I just had to focus and make a change.

I learned some great ways to really help myself be able to focus on the task at hand, including; changing your environment and even just something as simple as taking a breather to be able to refocus myself, and let everything else go.

Thanks to the suggestions of this book, I’m trying things like meditation to really learn to focus my thoughts and take full advantage of my brain power. If you’re looking for a guide to really help you learn how to best focus yourself, this is a great one.
