A cold-hearted duke. A spirited heiress. One scandalous surrender.
Lady Cordelia Ravensmere wanted a love match. Instead, she wed the enigmatic Duke of Walpole, a man who warned her he would never give his heart. But Christian North is nothing like she expected—aloof yet magnetic, cold yet burning with a passion he cannot hide.
Every stolen glance, every brush of his hand, draws her deeper into a dangerous longing neither dares name. Yet whispers of scandal stir, and when shadows of his past threaten their fragile bond, Cordelia must decide if she can trust the man who swore he could never love her.
In the glittering ballrooms of the ton, desire can be ruinous and love a risk few dare to take. But Christian and Cordelia are already lost to temptation… and surrender may be their only salvation.

To say I loved this book would definitely be an understatement! This series gets better and better! It’s very hard to pick a favorite! The beautiful Lady Cordelia Ravensmere is a Dukes daughter and out in London for her first season. Oh! And I love the ballroom scenes and the dancing! While at a ball she sees a breathtaking gorgeous Adonis! Not knowing he is her new friend brother the Duke of Walpole Christian. Unfortunately for them they each have trouble with love and fidelity. I love Tamara Gill’s attention to details and the narrative and of course Cordelia is a sassy and strong lady. This book is fast paced and full of everything I love in a historical romance!
Title: Ruby in the Rough (Heiress Book 4) Author: Tamara Gill My fellow readers. An amazing story that I shall not forget for quite some time. Christian’s character is what made this my most memorable book. The writer did such incredible job at creating his character for both the plot and subplot. Christian’s character is so re-fine that no other male character from the book can compare. He would be my exact ideal match for the presumptive hero for Lady Cordelia’s character. His qualities of a caring, but stern Duke among the Nobility gives him is Rakish charm in his personal life. What woman wouldn’t be attracted to that?! Hetty certainly knew what she had. I will only say this. Cordelia if it was me or your girl Jane who walked in a certain person’s office and saw that… knowing who Hetty is — among all that fabric. Taffeta. Cheap smelling perfume and fake as you want to believe them to be crocodile tears. Someones not leaving out that room unconscious on a stretcher with some visible bruises on them. His master key to Walpole jewels is chained and locked up for eternity. It belongs to me now. Get the f-wac- k out of hear. Yes ma’am. Little sister Jane don’t play. The shenanigans that she put Cordelia up to is quite comical. The two dressed as noble men at a certain club was pure entertainment. Poor Christian hangs on by a thread with his dear little sister. Speaking of sisters. That Rosalind needs to either wear a cowbell or just leave Cordelia the heck alone! You have your own play toy now. Go find him! Cordelia is a big girl. She know what she’s doing. Cordelia believes Christian to be the opposite. His structure is so ridged, one would have to wonder if he’s naturally a rude, mean to a fault human being. The readers know the real story of his qualities. Christian is the man to each woman’s dreams and desires in the young debutante’s spectrum. Cordelia I found her character to be as charming. Not to overbearing when it comes to romantic rendezvous entanglements with Christian. I felt that she was written in as an independent woman who refused to be defeated or shamed from the prior bad acts of other individuals. I loved her brazenness though. She understood and formulated the solutions to every man’s secretive desires. The romance was well played. Saving the more intimate and steamy parts for the end was pretty good. I would of like to have read them throughout the book, but the writers did a fantastic job at structure these scenes to help them read more profoundly. I give this book two snaps and a — would like for me to lick you right here or suck you right there? I thought so. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!
The story commences with the coming out ball for our FMC Cordelia, the daughter of a late duke. Cordelia makes a mild social faux pas with her good friend Lady Jane’s brother, Christian, the Duke of Walpole. However Christian later comes to her rescue from a situation stemming from her naivety.
Cordelia is a naive debutante but has a wilful spirit which becomes increasingly apparent. Lady Jane is even more playful and can cause mischief. Duke Christian on the other hand presents as a very serious and noble gentleman, a young man of the ton that does not wish to marry and is enjoying his youth with a mistress. He is also good friends with Cordelia’s brother in law (who readers of other books in this series will be familiar with). But we learn Christian is a complex character, with emotional baggage, who has a gentle and caring side. He is very protective of his younger sister which soon encompasses to also protecting her friend Cordelia.
With each rescue or intervention by Christian, he and Cordelia’s connection and chemistry grows.
Cordelia, two of her sisters and her brother in law attend a house party at the duke’s estate. Which leads to opportunities for Cordelia and Christian to be alone. Events at the house party lead to an unexpected marriage - but it does not start smoothly at all. The last third of the book is about Cordelia and Christian finding their way through a rocky path to their HEA.
The book moves at quite a fast pace, particularly in the first half. But the author still creates interesting characters. Cordelia starts as an immature but opinionated young female who discovers feelings she does not really have an understanding of. She is well supported by her older sister Rosalind. Lady Jane is fun. Cordelia’s last remaining unmarried sister Isabella is clearly going to lead another book in the series. Christian’s character is the best written in my opinion with layers and depth, and he grows developing necessary insight throughout. These insights are scary at times to Christian - which appeals to the reader on a humanistic level.
Cordelia & Christian She’s a duke’s daughter. He’s a duke. She’s his sister’s best friend. He’s her brother-in-law’s best friend. She’s a spirited imp with the face of an angel. He’s a cold and aloof god amongst men. Barely introduced and the sparks are already flying... only not the kind she’d hoped for. Yet when she finds herself in a sticky situation, he’s the one to rescue her – time and time again. Provoking him was fun, so was stealing a kiss... until he returns the favour.
From glittering ballrooms and an illicit soirée to Hatchard’s hidden aisles, a house party and a broom closet – avoiding temptation becomes more difficult by the second. They burn for each other... Can you guess where I’m going? Yes, a marriage of honour. Quite the cold shower. Even more so when scandal and an old acquaintance threaten to extinguish that final flicker of hope.
I liked both MCs, their chemistry and fire, the way she defrosts him and how he’s unable to resist. It was a perfectly predictable, but very delicious and entertaining rollercoaster ride. Lighthearted for the most part with a nice emotional climax. A fun, fast and spicy novella, the perfect fit for a quick pick-me-up!
Lady Cordelia Ravensmere wants a love match. She’s drawn to her best friend Jane’s brother, the enigmatic Christian North, the Duke of Walpole. Cordelia & her sisters & brother-in-law attend a house party at the Walpole country estate. The fourth book in this lovely series about the Ravensmere sisters. I loved both Christian & Cordelia who were like chalk & cheese but their chemistry sizzled. She wanted love & he thought he’d be an unfaithful husband. When they find themselves married things don’t go smoothly & they have their ups & downs until things come to a head & Christian realises how he really feels. I loved this captivating romance, the characters were so well portrayed & I was routing for them, especially for Christian to realise he had a heart & it was all Cordelia’s I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own
I love Tamara Gill. She is one of my top favorite authors. I read one of her books in 2014 and didn't pick her up again until 2018 and I've read 63 of her books since. I love her writing, her stories and her sex scenes are super hot. You guys know how I love a good book cover and this series so far has had the most absolutely gorgeous covers. Although I don't read book descriptions anymore and have no idea what a book is going to be about, there are just certain authors it doesn’t matter because they are such a good writers and I would read it no matter what. I loved book 1 and 2 and they were so damn good I added both to my favorite reads list. I was a bit disappointed in Book 3.
BUT I loved Christian and Cordelia. This was such a great read. I loved this storyline. Sex was hot and their chemistry was hot. Overall a really good read. Adding to my favorite books read for August, 2025.
This was an enjoyable tale of Cordelia and Christian. They were attracted to one another from the start, but there was a lot of push and pull between them. I did enjoy their back and forth and the electricity you could feel between them. Christian definitely changed through the book as he lost some of his aloofness and hardness. I feel like I would like to know more of his background and perspective as we have a bigger view of Cordelia’s from her sisters’ previous books.
Overall, it was a fun regency romp with a good bit of groveling.
This fourth book in this series was another fantastic read. I have loved reading the stories of these previously neglected sisters finding love.
Lady Cordelia Ravensmere is best friends with Lady Jane Warpole. Like her sisters so far, Cordelia has her heart set on marrying for love and being an equal partner in her marriage. At Cordelia’s coming out ball she becomes aware of the most handsome man she has ever seen. Turns out he is the brother of Lady Jane!
Christian North, the Duke of Warpole is friends with the Duke of Ravensmere (Cordelia’s brother in law). He doesn’t enjoy attending social events but made the exception for his friend. Jane introduces Cordelia to Christian. Cordelia is disappointed to find that his manner is cold, stuffy and condescending. He thinks she’s attractive but maybe highly strung. His sister Jane is on the wild side so he already has his hands full. He’s definitely not looking to marry any time soon.
Unfortunately for both of them, their undeniable physical attraction to each other and being caught in a locked room alone and looking disheveled leads them up the wedding isle before they know it. They are virtually strangers and neither expected the result they find themselves in. Christian had told Cordelia casually before the passion between them erupted that he sees nothing wrong with him taking a mistress after marrying but Cordelia will not share her husband with anyone.
The couple start to settle down and enjoy their time together and Cordelia is hopeful that love will grow between them. An unexpected visitor shocks Cordelia to the core and the couple face their first and possibly final challenge to their marriage.
This book has everything I want to enjoy when I spend time relaxing. It has solid characters and a really well written plot that is perfectly paced and engaging with lots of superbly written steamy scenes that were making me reach for something to cool me down! There is humour sprinkled throughout too. I really enjoyed this book as much as the previous ones. It has been a great series so far and I am looking forward to reading the next book.
I received a special copy from the author. I’m voluntarily leaving this review.
Tamara Gill’s Ruby in the Rough, the latest installment in the Heiress series, is a captivating read that I simply cannot praise enough. This series continues to enchant with its rich tapestry of compelling characters, deep sisterly bonds, enduring friendships, and, of course, the irresistible men who steal their hearts.
Lady Cordelia Ravensmere seeks not just marriage, but a love match—refusing to settle for anything less. Enter Christian, the Duke of Walpole, and her best friend Jane’s brother. From the outset, Christian is unapologetically clear about his intentions: he isn’t looking for a wife, doubts his capacity for fidelity, and is content with his current lifestyle. Yet, Cordelias spirit and charm prove irresistible, pulling Christian in despite his reservations. Their undeniable chemistry leads to inevitable consequences, and when caught alone together, Christian does the honorable thing—he marries her.
Their marriage is a rollercoaster of emotional highs and lows, fueled by Christian’s refusal to confront his true feelings. When his fidelity comes into question, Cordelia faces the ultimate test of trust and forgiveness. Will Christian finally admit his love and fight for their future, or will his fears keep them apart?
Cordelia’s boldness and passionate spirit make her an unforgettable heroine, determined to fight for what she wants. Christian, dynamic and complex, wrestles with his belief that love is fleeting, fearing what happens when passion fades. Their journey is filled with raw emotion, growth, and undeniable chemistry.
Ruby in the Rough is a beautifully written, emotionally charged story that will grip your heart and not let go. With its rich character development, heartfelt drama, and swoon-worthy romance, it’s a must-read for anyone who loves historical romance. I wholeheartedly recommend this enthralling tale—you’ll fall in love with Cordelia and Christian just as I did.
I received an ARC (advanced review copy) for free and am sharing my thoughts voluntarily.
This series is great; each book is wonderful and somewhat better than the last. Laughing as I say that about all the books. The series is about sisters and the men they meet. Lady Cordelia is having her coming out ball later than most misses. She is twenty-four and having the time of her life. Her sister, Rosalind is now a duchess and made sure her ball was perfect. She and her best friend, Lady June are talking when June points out the most handsome man she has ever seen! June lets her know he doesn’t come to balls, and this will make her the envy of the women of the ton. She makes some witty but uncalled remakes, and he overhears them. Oops! Then she finds out he is June’s brother, Christian the Duke of Walpole who is the second wealthiest man because her brother-in-law is number one. These two had a dislike of each other at first meeting till Christians saves her a couple of times from man who will not leave her along. Christian doesn’t plan on marrying any time soon as he fears he will be just like his father, unable to be faithful to just one woman. As the attraction between then grows, passion over rides good sense. Now both must deal with growing feelings, secrets, the past and misunderstanding that could leave both heartbroken. Oh, my what a read, couldn’t put it down. There is so much emotion between our couple and plenty of friends and family to help. Be sure and grab a copy to see if they can work it out or not. We also get a peek at what the next book might be. Looking forward to it, sounds great too. I received and ARC from the author and wish to thank her. This is my honest opinion and am freely giving it.
A sweet and lighthearted marriage by scandal romance and a great addition to the series that I read in one sitting. The plot is very well written and full of heartfelt emotion, banter and flirtation, misunderstandings and steamy love scenes. The protagonists are very likable and although they have to get their act together at the beginning, the undeniable tension and sizzling chemistry are palpable throughout the book. Although the book is part of the series, it can be read as a standalone.
Lady Cordelia, daughter of the late and sister-in-law of the current Duke of Ravensmere, has come to London for her first season and dreams of great love like that of her married sisters. At a ball, she meets her friend's aloof brother, Christian North, the Duke of Walpole, to whom she is immediately attracted. Christian is also drawn to Cordelia and her innocent yet rebellious nature, but he has no intention of falling in love or getting married in the foreseeable future, as he is not sure whether he can be loyal and faithful to his future wife. The two grow closer and when their mutual attraction escalates at Christian's house party, they have no choice but to get married...
Overall, an enjoyable and fast-paced historical romance with tangible chemistry, spice and great character development that I am happy to recommend!
I received a free ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and left voluntarily.
Ruby in the Rough is the best installment in the Heiress series IMO. Cordelia is the 4th Ravensmere heiress to come to London looking for a love match. She meets Christian, the Duke of Walpole at a ton event and while she is attracted to him, he is not interested in seeking a wife at this time. Cordelia and his sister, Lady Jane are friends and Christian and Cordelia are often in each other’s company frequently and the attraction they have is undeniable. During Christian’s house party, he and Cordelia are unable to deny their lust for each other, after many close encounters they are eventually caught in a compromising situation by Cordelia’s sister, Rosalind. They marry and Christian has to work his doubts about his ability to be faithful to Cordelia. They are forced to deal with issues that place a strain on their new relationship but the passion and love they share will not be denied. I am enjoying this series and I am already looking forward to reading book 5. All books can be read as standalones but the sisters and the Duke of Ravensmere are featured in all of them. There is no need to read book 1 first but I would recommend it in order to get the back story on each of the sisters and how the current Duke of Ravensmere inherited the title. I received an ARC from Tamara Gill and BookFunnel and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ruby in the Rough by Tamara Gill Ruby in the Rough by Tamara Gill is a historical romance that captures the reader’s attention from the very first page. Set in a richly drawn period backdrop, the book balances engaging storytelling with believable characters and just the right amount of suspense. The heroine, Ruby, is portrayed as both strong-willed and vulnerable, making her a character readers can easily relate to and root for. Tamara develops her with depth, showing her challenges and growth in a way that feels authentic. The relationships and interactions between the characters are equally well-crafted, adding warmth, tension, and intrigue to the narrative. What makes this book especially enjoyable is the author’s writing style. Tamara Gill’s prose flows smoothly, bringing the setting and emotions to life without ever feeling heavy or overdone. The suspense is woven in skillfully—enough to keep readers turning the pages eagerly, but not so much that it overshadows the romance or character development. Overall, Ruby in the Rough is a wonderfully written book that delivers a satisfying mix of romance, intrigue, and heartfelt moments. It leaves the reader both content with the story told and excited for what comes next in the series. Personally, I found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable read, and I cannot wait to pick up the next installment.
4.5 We have Lady Cordelia Ravensmere and Christian the Duke of Walpole two unlikely people who are like fire and gasoline! Cordelia wants a love match and Christian does not believe he can be faithful! Cordelia is friends with Christian’s sister and trying to figure him out! Christian catches them at an event for the Demi-monde and promptly escorts them out! Cordelia stands up to him but she is fully aware who his mistress is and what she looks like! Christian can be cold and a little pompous he is a Duke after all! Cordelia will not give in and the butt heads and other parts of their anatomy with great frequency! Christian is still unsure he can be the man and husband Cordelia needs! They are caught in a compromising situation with just one witness and it seems Christian will rise to the occasion! Wedded bliss has set in but there is a stumbling block thrown in the works! Cordelia is heartbroken and leaves Christian to clean up his act! Christian has to provide a grand gesture to show his wife and the Ton that is indeed a love match! Can he win Cordelia over and ensure that she is all he needs? Bravo well done! Can’t wait for the next one! I received an ARC copy for my unbiased opinion!
Lady Cordelia Ravenmere is at her coming out Ball. With her sisters Isabella and Rosalind as her chaperone. She met with Lady Jane Walpole. First season for her too and they are becoming good friends. A man enters the room. He is handsome and Cordelia asked Jane who that is? He is her older brother, Christian North, Duke of Walpole. She introduced her to him. He is the kind of man who doesn’t want to marry, have a mistress and happy this way. But she’s drawn to him. Something about how he protects himself makes her feel emotions she didn’t know she had. And better, he is a good friend of Nathaniel, Rosalind’s husband Duke of Ravensmere… will Christian falls for her even if he doesn’t want to change his ways of life ? Or Cordelia will do everything in her power to achieve that ?
Fourth books in the Heiress series and this one is the best one so far!!! The chemistry between the two main characters is exciting, back and forth, and one of resilience. They both came from family where the father was not very faithful so trust is the key to success for their relationship. Historical romance is my first love in reading books. I am always happy to go back in this genre and this one doesn’t disappoint! I highly recommend this book and series! 5 ⭐️
Lady Cordelia Ravensmere is attending her London season is hopes of finding a husband. She wants to find a love match like what her sisters have with their husbands.
Christian North, the Duke of Walpole is not looking for a wife. He doesn’t believe that he can love a wife or be faithful to her.
Christian and Cordelia start feeling a connection when he saves her from ruin on several different occasions. Cordelia only wants to marry for love and Christian doesn’t believe he can love a wife. But when they are caught in a scandalous situation they are forced to wed. Will Christian realize that he loves Cordelia before it is too late?
I truly loved Cordelia and Christian’s love story!! It was a lot fun, very entertaining and oh so steamy!! I felt both characters were well developed and very likable. I loved reading how the icy standoffish Christian fell hard for Cordelia and tried so hard to fight his feelings. It was the reason I thought their story was so much fun to read!! The secondary characters were absolutely wonderful and really added to the story. I highly recommend this book and look forward to the next book!! Such an awesome series!!
Its Cordelia's first season and she hopes to marry for love. Like most debutantes her dream is a love match but what she hopes for and what she gets, are very different.
A simple social mistep for Cordelia has her in a situation that not only ruins her chances at love but has her requiring saving
Luckily her best friends brother Christian, the Duke, is honourable and comes to her rescue.
They end up marrying for honour and nothing more.
The H&H are very different people. Cordelia is naive with a wilful spirit who often needs rescuing from the mischief she causes and Christian who although he is aloof, or rather cold- has a passionate and protective side, he is always rescuing his wife and sister
These two may be opposites but the fire and chemistry that they have and the bond that builds between them really made their HEA even more enjoyable
I really loved all the characters and the relationships they had with one another. This was a fun and well written book.
Thank you to the author for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own
I found this romance to be lighthearted and entertaining, with just enough human drama to add a touch of suspense. Cordelia and Christian have diametrically opposite goals, and yet from the moment they come face to face, they are drawn together by a magnetic force. Cordelia wants love, romance, marriage, and everything that goes with it. Christian is putting marriage off for as long as he can, and even then, he has no intention of giving his heart. He puts as much distance between them as he can, yet still cannot avoid Cordelia, and when she needs his intervention, he steps in again and again, until his restraint gives way, unleashing his feelings for her. That, of course, puts them into the very situation he is trying to avoid, which results in him hurting Cordelia deeply before they have barely embarked on marriage. Cordelia's feelings for Christian are no secret, but it takes him a little longer to realize how much she means to him. The novel, a copy of which I received as a gift, concludes in a lovely manner, and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Lady Cordelia Ravensmere yearns to marry a man whom she loves - just as her older sisters, Rosalind, Angelica and Evangeline, have done. Christian North, Duke of Walpole, handsome and honorable, yet cool and aloof, doesn't wish to marry, but when he is unable to leave Cordelia to be compromised by the Earl Basing, the two begin a dance of desire, drawn together like magnets, their push and pull dynamic setting the course for their undeniable attraction and passion. Unable to stay away from each other, they are forced into a marriage of convenience after being caught in a compromising position together. Yet while Christian initially tries to remain aloof, Cordelia will only accept a marriage based on love and trust with her husband, and the two have to work together to maneuver their happy ending.
I enjoyed Cordelia and Christian's love story in this fourth book of Tamara Gill's Heiress series. Ruby in the Rough is well-written, steamy and angsty at times. Both Cordelia and Christian are fallible main characters, but I couldn't help but cheer them on as they are forced to grow together (and separately) to attain their hard-won Happily Ever After. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, which will be Lady Isabella Ravensmere's turn at finding true love - hopefully with Lord Whitmore.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy from the author, and I am leaving my review voluntarily.
Oh my goodness, I really enjoyed Ruby in the Rough! Cordelia and Christian's story pulled me in from the first chapter and didn't let go. Cordelia is such a sassy, kickass heroine, while Christian is your swoon-worthy, frustrating, irresistible MMC that makes your heart race. Complete opposites, but together their chemistry is absolute fire. I couldn’t put it down and I was totally invested in every little twist and turn. The beautiful HEA is totally worth it.
And the writing… wow. Tamara Gill knows how to hit you with all the feels, the tension, and those quiet emotional moments that just leave you a little breathless. The whole series is so easy to fall in love with. I'm obsessed with this world she's built.
Also, can we talk about this cover? Stunning doesn't even start to cover it. I kept picking up my kindle just to stare at it. If you're into historical romance with chemistry, unforgettable characters, and a story that stays with you long after you finish, then this one's an absolute must.
The next installment of the Heiress series does not disappoint! This is Cordelia and Christian’s story, one that ignites almost instantaneously. A little older than your average debutante, Cordelia knows what she is looking for in a husband. And she won’t settle for anything less. Christian sees no reason to marry anytime soon, especially since he will not be marrying for love, nor will he give up his bachelor lifestyle when he does. This unlikely couple find themselves in ever-increasingly charged situations, initially during an act of chivalry by Christian, but progressively because they cannot deny their mutual attraction. I found myself caught up in their search for happiness, even if Christian didn’t know that was what he was looking for, and cheering them both on when they needed to make difficult and heartfelt choices. If you like seemingly dark heroes who are tender, strong heroines who aren’t afraid to say what they want, and passion galore, I recommend Ruby in the Rough.
I am so enjoying the Heiress series, and our ‘Rough Ruby’ was a true delight. Tamara Gill is one of my favourite authors and I always love her books as she makes reading her tales so effortless. The story is well thought out and has ups and downs as well as a few little plot twists to keep it entertaining, but the strength of the characters alone makes it worth the read. Christian is ‘dukey’ and I do love a man that is brought down by a woman and what a woman Cordelia is. She knows what she wants and is not afraid to go get it.
This is a feel-good story with well-written heat that keeps you page-turning right up to the end. I recommend the whole series but Ruby in the Rough can be read on its own and I am sure you will enjoy it however read all 4 books and you will be like me, counting the days down to book 5. Well done Ms Gill another triumph!
Cordelia and Christian could not be more different. His icy cold demeanor dampens her fiery spirit…or does it. At first, I could not fathom how such a cold man could become so hot for a woman, but the author does a fine job of revealing his thoughts and making him very real. The hurt Cordelia goes through is just heartbreaking and I could feel her anguish and pain. Christian’s on again-off again attitude over Cordelia after the wedding was a bit off-putting. It seemed out of place with the man he had become. The climax was precious and the epilogue seems to set up the next book. Once again, the 4 stars is for the f-bomb. Though only used once, it seemed way out of character, especially when the speaker used “tupping” all of the other times. Other than that , a very well written story that I enjoyed. I received this story for free and these are my own views.
Lady Cordelia Ravensmere thought she was marrying a man with the emotional range of a teaspoon. Instead, she got Christian North: a duke with the charm of a glacier and the smolder of a thousand forbidden glances. He says he’ll never love her, but his eyes, hands, and scandalously timed ballroom brooding say otherwise.
Cordelia, bless her bold little heart, isn’t here to play the obedient duchess. She’s here to flirt with danger, sass her way through society, and maybe, just maybe, crack the icy shell of her husband’s tortured soul. Their chemistry? Positively ruinous. Their tension? So thick you could cut it with a lace fan.
This is a slow-burn surrender wrapped in velvet and secrets, where trust is the ultimate scandal and love the most daring rebellion of all. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
A wonderful addition to the Heiress series. A wonderful steamy romance from Tamara Gill which does not disappoint. The Duke of Walpole is well developed character and his viewpoint is woven well into the entire story. His attraction to Lady Cordelia can not be ignored creating angst for both of them. Lady Cordelia requires a love match like her sister. Christian feels he is incapable of love and will be unfaithful like his father. They are unable to resist their mutual attraction the inevitable consequences are the basis of their marriage. A beautiful ending when they both finally admit to themselves and each other what their families already know they love each other desperately. Isabella’s story with Lord Whitmore teases yet another epic love story. I can’t wait for Gilded in Sin coming in October
I love Tamara Gill’s Novellas. I’m an avid Historical Romance reader, but. I get impatient after about 275+ pages. I hate it when Authors take 50-100 pages to SET the scene. I don’t care what grandmother was wearing or whether it was the latest style. Nor do I care how many petals were on a particular flower or what the general weather was unless it makes a difference to the story. Tamara Gill never wastes time on historical Trevia and pages “acclimating” the reader. She always grabs your attention immediately with just enough information to keep you totally turning pages right to the end, leaving you wanting more. This series is a perfect example. I especially loved this fourth edition with Cordelia and Christian’s story. Christian is my kind of “cold hearted” hero. I found this enchanting read on BookFunnel and I’m gladly giving this review.
This was the perfect book to pick up after the last book I read. It is light, fun and a fast read. Who doesn’t love the cold duke who melts and has no idea what is happening to him? I definitely want to read all about the frosty guy. Cordelia was a breath of fresh air and I loved her take on things. She wasn’t backing down. This is Tamara at her best (okay, so a lot are but this one is chef’s kiss). I actually got mad at one point at Christian and yelled at the book. Sometimes men are clueless. Fortunately, it all worked out and their passion and love shine through.
Hint of the next book…oh boy, I think it will also be quite the ride.
In this series about 6 sisters, I will tell you I really enjoyed this book. Both main characters were well written and enjoyable. You do not have to read all the books, but they are all good. This book is about Cordelia who would like to get married, but for love. She meets Christian who is a Duke, who does not believe he can ever love one woman. Even though Cordelia knows this about Christian, she can not help but feel the chemistry between them. While reading this book, time flew by. It is well written and I enjoyed the main characters. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest opinion.
This is the fourth book in the series and it is Cordelia and Christians book.
Christian is a duke, he meets Cordelia at a ball he is attending with his sister. He isn't looking for a bride and thinks he is happy with his mistress, until he finds himself unable to stop thinking about Cordelia. They are both attracted to each other, he doesn't want to marry and she wants to marry for love. But when they are caught in a compromising situation, that is what happens. Will Christian realise he is not like his father before his beliefs ruin their marriage.
I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend reading it. i am looking forward to the next book in the series.
