Ahhhhh Torin you sexy beast finally!!!

Just please let there be lots of hot sex! I was disappointed with Kane's book for the lack of it. The sex scenes used to be so much better, steamier and more detailed, why hasn't it been like that anymore!!?? It was like reading a Young Adult book. That needs to change! And I just hope Torin will still be his wicked self;) I love him, hope he hasn't changed.
Also let there be lots of William and his POV!!

5 Worth The Wait Stars

To be denied forever what I crave most

YEARS. Years, I've been waiting for Torin's book. I've been sitting in anxious anticipation from book one just waiting to get his story. But see, here's the thing...in the past year, I've also been dreading it a little too. Why? Because the last few releases from this author have left something to be desired for me. They just haven't quite been the same, with that signature Gena spark missing. So I was extremely nervous that one of my most anticipated books EVER just may turn out to be the biggest disappointment. And you know what? I shouldn't have been worried. Gena has officially got her awesome back with this book. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING that I have loved about her books in the past; the snark, the humor, the sexy romance, all of it is back here.
Just so you know, I've eaten warriors like you for breakfast."
"Well, did you spit or swallow? Never mind. Don't answer. Your sexual kinkiness has no bearing on this situation. I'd appreciate it if you focus."

After escaping Cronus's prison, Torin is attempting to find his way back...but he's not alone. Following him and intent on exacting her revenge for her fallen friend is his previous prison neighbor, Keeley Cael. The Red Queen.

Now let's stop for a minute here and talk about Keeley. I think I just may have found my favorite heroine in the series after Anya. Spoiler alert: she's freaking AWESOME! Wow. I just knew that the woman to bring down the big, bad and reclusive warrior will have to be fierce, and holy hell but she was.

She also just happens to be possibly the most powerful heroine in the series. Period. But that wasn't even my favorite part of the book. Nope. My favorite part was the banter between her and Torin. Keeley is determined to get vengeance. Having been betrayed by pretty much every man in her life, including her father, she doesn't exactly trust easily. But yet...something about Torin calls to her, almost soothes her. Or maybe it's just his fabulous ass?
I'm going to do it. I'm going to hit you with a blast of power, and you're going to writhe in the worst pain of your life. Nothing will ease you."
"Great." Then, when she hesitated, he had the gall to add, "I'm waiting."
"You should be running."
"Why? Do you want to stare at my ass?"

Torin was everything I thought he would be and then more, in his own book. Throughout the series, you don't get to see Torin in action too much. Due to the demon he carries, he limits his exposure to others as much as possible, and you'd typically find him behind a computer screen. So I was so happy to get that fierce side of Torin the warrior in this book. Well that and his humor and snark, because let's be honest, what's a Gena Showalter book without that, right?

Now I bet you're all sitting there and wondering the same thing I have been wondering; how in the hell is Gena going to give Torin his HEA if he can't touch anyone without his demon infecting them with a fatal disease? Is the book going to be completely sexless? Are they going to dream-diddle each other? Do they talkthrough masturbate? WHAT?

What? Was it just me then? Right. Carrying on. Well worry not, because this book was definitely sexy in its own right. The sexual chemistry between Torin and Keeley alone burned up the pages. But Gena definitely throws plenty of satisfying scenes your way too... of the sexy-time variety ;)

How does that happen without Torin making Keeley sick and killing her? Guess you'll just have to read and find out.

I promise that between the seriously laugh out loud banter
My inability to rile you is maddening."
"I'll yell at you if it'll make you feel better."
That perked her up, saying, "That would be extremely helpful, thank you."
"How dare you bare your arms in public! You're damn right it makes you a tease. It gives a man ideas. Makes him think you're good at carrying heavy boxes- which just happens to be HIS job! It's humiliating is what it is."

And all the side characters; you will not be bored for a minute of the book. The secondary story here was absolutely amazing. (I won't tell you who it was, but I can tell you that I am now utterly DYING for their book because OMG that plot twist)

Did I happen to mention that we get a lot more of Baden here too? YES

So in short, was this book everything I had hoped it would be? Hell no! It was better! What used to be one of my favorite PNR series is now right back to my auto-buy list and I cannot wait for the next installment.

DNF at 40%

And the Biggest Disappointment of the Year Award goes to... The Darkest Touch.
Or, to be precise, to Torin.

This Torin is not the Torin I got to know and fell in love with in the previous books of this marvelous series.

I felt something like this:

Eleven chapters of the book couldn’t convince me that this is the real Torin.
This Torin here, this arrogant, self-conceited, self-proclaimed badass and bloodthirsty champion of constant erection is NOT the “hero” whose story I wanted to read.

The first 40% of the book from Fake Torin’s viewpoint:
“I feel so guilty.”
“I want that girl in the next cell.”
“I’m a big, bad, ancient, bloodthirsty warrior.”
“I have an erection.”
“I want to fuck Keeley, but I can’t. I don’t want to infect her.”
“I feel so guilty.”
“I’m such a badass.”
“I have an erection.”
“I touch her anyway.”
“She has gotten sick. I never touch her again.”
“I feel so guilty.”
“I’m such a badass.”
“I have an erection.”
“I want to fuck Keeley, but I can’t. I don’t want to infect her.”
“I touch her again.”
“She has gotten sick. I never touch her again.”
“I’m such a badass.”
“I feel so guilty.”
“I’m a big, bad, ancient, bloodthirsty warrior.”
“I have an erection.”

Keeley is the Red Queen. Who is the Red Queen, you ask. Well, she is an ancient, all-powerful being (a goddess?). Everyone fears her name (but why?)…

She is in constant tantrum mode, and overall very irritating. Only incoherent and vague information about her in the first half of the story. To make her enigmatic?

She was imprisoned by Cronus for centuries; maybe that’s why she has no idea how to flirt, so she simply spreads her thighs. And it works, ladies!!

In short, they are both ancient, badass, bloodthirsty beings, and they spread things. Torin spreads the plague…

… and Keeley… oh, you already know…

The Story
In the first eleven chapters almost NOTHING happens. Torin and Keeley want to get out of the Realm of Wailing Tears. It’s like a chamber drama, with only the two of them, who just talk and talk (blah blah blah), think about fucking each other, and occasionally slay insignificant tertiary characters. That’s all. Very repetitive.

So the blurb is absolutely correct because it is the only dilemma here: to fuck or not to fuck?

There are only a couple of pages about Cameo and Lazarus, oh, and Baden, but the rest of the Lords don’t show up (again, I read 40%).

Overall, I was super-excited about this book, but it proved to be a disappointment. Yes, I’m very upset, but I’ll survive.

This book was everything I wanted and More. I loved to see some of the guys from past books and see where they are now . I can't wait to see who's book is next. I will leave you with some of my fav quotes from the book.

"My inability to rile you is maddening." "I'll yell at you if it'll make you feel better."

“He’s not the one who took me back and gave me another chance. And I’ll make sure you never regret your decision,” he said. “For the rest of my days I will do everything in my power power to make up for my poor behavior.” He released her, only to cup her cheeks. “I love you. You are my treasure, and you are worth anything. Worth everything. I would even eat raisins for you.”
“You love me that much?” she asked softly.
“With all that I am, all that I will ever be.”
“Good, because I love you, too.”

“I’ve got something to tell you. Something that’s going to change your life.”
…”O-Okay”
“Knowledge is knowing a tomato is fruit- wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.”

This book was Super sexy and funny as hell. I would say if you have not read the Lords of the Underworld Series you so should .... A must Read!

Torin: Demon of Disease
Butterfly: on his stomach
His curse: He is responsible for plagues, cancer, Ebola and many other life threatening diseases. He cannot touch another living being skin-to-skin without infecting him/her. He is a good guy and he does not like it. Thus, he wears gloves all the time and he has spent centuries locked inside the Lord’s castle interacting only through his computer.

Keeleycael or Keeley: The Red Queen.
Supernatural ability: She is most probably the most powerful female in the series.

So, Torin is one lonely guy. He used to play sex games with Cameo, i.e. having sex with each without touching each other. Not very satisfying, but it was the only thing Torin could give.
Since he cannot touch anything alive without killing it with the most horrendous death; he has decided to stay single, to stay indoors and let the other Lords fights the battles. But still he has a wicked sense of humor and he loves making fun of himself:

“What’s my sign? Cancer.”

In this book Torin stops being a computer geek and he becomes a warrior. After breaking out from the Cronus’ prison in another Realm (He has the All-key inside him, so he can unlock any door) and killing a girl who was supposed to be immune to his deceases; he will meet his future Queen
i.e. the Red Queen, i.e. the Queen from the Alice in Wonderland story who is truly a powerful being.
And she is also completely nuts. In a funny kind of way. Which compliments Torin’s humor.

“You may call me Your Majesty. I’ll call you My Next Victim.”
“I usually prefer Torin, Hotness or The Awesome.”

Keeley, used to be engaged to Hades, the king other kings fear. But he was afraid of her powers, so he sold her to Cronus who locked her up for a few centuries. Now Keeley does not trust the other males including Torin. Of course she will not be able to fight the attraction, although his touch may kill her.

His kiss was rough and raw, desperate as he backed her into a wall. He gripped her by the waist and lifted her, his mouth never leaving hers. Suddenly their bodies were in perfect alignment. Two puzzle pieces fitted together.

And they touch each other. And the touch does make her sick. But she is immortal, so she recovers. And they touch again. And she becomes sick again. And she recovers. And they touch again. And she becomes sick again. See the pattern?

“Has anyone ever not gotten sick after tangling with you?” Keeley asked.
The hope in her voice...he crumbled, utterly agonized. “No.”
“But I’m, like, super powerful.”
She wasn’t just super powerful; she was the most powerful person he’d ever come across.
“Sickness feeds on certain types of power. How else do you think it grows?”
She nibbled on her bottom lip, fiddled with the bottle of pills. “I feel fine.”
“That won’t last.”

Yes, at some point Torin and Keeley will discover the medicine, so that she will stop becoming ill every time they have sex.

Awesome story! Great chemistry between Keeley and Torin. One of my favorite couples in the series.

Favorite side story: Cameo and Lazarus story is unfold in this book!
“Have you considered Zoloft?” Lazarus asked. “It’s supposed to help with bouts of crying. Or so I’ve heard. It might help with your voice, too. Have I mentioned your voice is tragic?”

Keeley Cael, the legendary Red Queen...and low key insane. She is officially in my top ten favorite heroines.

Not only is she powerful as fuuck but she was just so sassy and so *so* crazy
“Fine,” she told him, her chin quivering. “Be that way. You’re nothing without me. I never really liked you anyway.”
“Keeley?” Torin asked.
Rejected by a rock. “Stay out of this, warrior. It’s between Wilson and me”

description

Seriously guys, the book begins with Keeley verballing sparing with a goddamn rock that’s been in her cage during her imprisonment for centuries and so she has some anger issues towards those bastards
“Calm...steady...don’t want to destroy the entire realm.
Not yet anyway.”

And of course the sexual chemistry!!!
“Great.” Then, when she hesitated, he had the gall to add, “I’m waiting....”
“You should be running.”
“Why? Do you want to stare at my ass?”

Torin the fierce immortal warrior, demon of Disease and who doesn’t love a good tragedy??
“Just so you know, I've eaten warriors like you for breakfast."
"Well, did you spit or swallow? Never mind. Don't answer. Your sexual kinkiness has no bearing on this situation. I'd appreciate it if you focus."

And honestly I loved how he teased her and their banter was just so greattt
“My inability to rile you is maddening."

They both alphas and so as a couple just so great together and i loved how he wasn’t super GRR GRR but still dominating.

Just perfect this man is perfect amirite? Well except for the whole giving everyone he touches a fatal disease
“Well, I refuse your offer of friendship and your breakup. We’re staying together, and that’s final.”

And thats how it’s done ladies and gentlemen

** 5++ "I would even eat raisins for you" STARS **

It was 4 years ago that I first saw this fanart around the Internet while I was suffering a major fangirling episode after finishing the 1st book in the series, The Darkest Night.

And I was instantly in love.

Torin has always been one of my favorites among the Lords and all these years, I've been waiting for his story to finally come.

Thank God, I wasn't disappointed! This book was everything that I've expected and MORE!

The characters were perfect! The dialogues were perfect! The storyline was perfect! I couldn't want more from a Paranormal Romance book.

Torin and Keys had an amazing chemistry and they're officially my favourite couple in the series now! Yes, even Anya and Lucien are a very close second to them. These two are THAT amazing!

I mean these two nut cases have PORN NAMES! And may I add that they are kinda amazing: Dr. Miles Long and Ivanna Longone...

*giggles*

By the way, I enjoyed the side story of Lazarus and Cameo a lot, too. I never exactly cared that much about Cameo in the series, surely there always have been very impressive Lords that outshined her. Now I see that I've made a mistake, because reading her chapters were immensely fun. I feel like her story is next and I seriously can't wait for it!

Oh and a surprise name, Baden , is back! All my begging about him to Gena Showalter on FB, has been for this day EHEHEHE!

This book also proved that " Galen & Legion " and " William & Gilly " are TOTALLY happening! I couldn't be happier...

Lastly, the best thing about this book: Torin's awesome T-shirts! They all had hilarious sentences about some of the best Lords.

My favorite? THIS: "Strider Can Beat Me Anytime"

(Get it? Beat me? Strider is the keeper of the Demon of Defeat? You know, he has to beat his demon all the time? Anyways...)

P.S: I realize this isn't exactly a proper review, but I tried a few times, just couldn't do it without giving spoilers. Sorry, you guys!

The Darkest Touch by Gena Showalter

Lords of the Underworlds, book 11. Paranormal romance. Best as as part of the series.
After the opening of Pandora’s box, immortal warrior Torin carries with him the demon Disease. Torin can’t touch anyone without killing them. No one can touch him either. For years he has watched his brother Lords and demons find true love. He knows that will never be for him. It’s tragic and sad. When confronted with the Red Queen, Keeley, he can’t resist her

Poor tortured Torin. I feel for him, I really do. To not be able to touch or be touched for hundreds of years? But dude, the “I have to leave her for her own good”, over and over again is bad form. Either do it or better yet - realize the decision is hers. The touching, the guilt over and over was too much.

In the beginning - way to commit: “he was totally in like with her”
His T-shirts are amusing. “Got for it, she’s beautiful and totally into you” said alcohol.

I did like the banter and her ultimate power. Plus quite a bit of throwaway humor.

Ouch. This hurts. :( What in the hell happened?? I just...can’t even form words to what a complete disaster this was. What happened to the emotions? The angst? The suspense? It pains me to do this but damn this was a disappointment all around. The most disappointing book out of the entire series for me honestly. It's freaking Torin, Tor Tor and he got royally shafted (no pun intended). I have been waiting for his story since Book 1, I even made fanart for this one gosh dammit and I don't do that often so yeah there was a lot riding on this one. Gah! What amazes me is that nothing worked for me, a complete first. Even when I’m not crazy in love with the h/hr I can always count on Showalter to give me a little bit of everything or just bits and pieces that hook me in from page 1. Here everything dragged, nothing major happens except the couple going in circles playing hot and cold, threatening each other or trying to bone. I just wasn't feeling any of it.
 photo 793200.gif

Torin & Keeley

My biggest fear was that Tor would be saddled up with a heroine undeserving of him and my fears were horribly justified. I could not stand Keeley.
 photo 2uep2xh.gif
Nothing about her moved me, interested me or convinced me she was the perfect match for Torin. She's catty, vain, selfish, shallow, hot tempered-to the extreme, bratty and the most insecure watering-pot you could possibly imagine. For a supposedly all powerful most-feared ancient being, Keeley has the emotional depth and maturity of a 5 year old. She acts like Anya and talks like Viola, wonderful combo no? She brings an entire building down if she doesn't get her way...literally. She's hypersensitive to everything and everyone around her. What exactly am I supposed to find sympathetic about this creature? Her poor sad 'woe is me' attitude and nobody likes me or wants me, I'm toootally misunderstood! sob story just chaffed even more. Been there, done that, a hundred times over, honey. Is that supposed to automatically make me like someone who is unlikable, Gena? NO. I got tired of this girl's constant posturing and throwing out corny threats every 5 pages.
 photo angel_spine-trophies2.gif
And PS: She really did say that line^^. And no I'm not making this up.

In the words of her "majesty" herself:
 photo walken1.gif
Ugh. I mean are you kidding me? Bring Mari back! I truly felt Keeley was too selfish, self-absorbed and flighty for someone like Torin. The guy I know wouldn't give someone like her the time of day. Period. This was not who I pictured him ending up with much less bending over backwards and groveling forgiveness over the dumbest things, things that were entirely out of his control. *whimpers* Going centuries without human touch and this is what he gets? It's really bad when you keep wondering what the other options would have turned out like. I kept wishing Mari hadn't died or wondering what the first & second drafts of this story would have turned out like before Gena decided to rewrite the whole thing. Why Gena? WHY? And I never get hung up on shit like this. Ever. I always let the author lead me where they want to go and just enjoy what I can. But this disappointed me, saddened me and pissed me off like nothing else could.

And I want to know what happened to my lovely Torin? Did he get a personality transplant? What happened to the sweet shy computer-savy sexy nerd with the warped sense of humor? He's supposed to be the most even tempered sweet guy out of the bunch. Not here. He's now magically turned into a hot tempered, mean, self-described 'villain' (WTF?) who craves destruction and bloodsport and who's the perrrrfect match to Keeley's screeching mercurial behavior.
 photo 7704206.gif
AS IF. Get real. It gets under my skin like nothing else when character idiosyncrasies are changed to fit within a pairing the author is trying to sell. And now he's magically wearing leather gloves instead of his signature latex gloves?? You know the only kinds he can wear to ward off any kind of touch or bodily fluids? SMH.

I honestly felt this couple was shoved down readers throats too much. Everything about them was incredibly forced and is a big part of why I struggled with this. You have a handful of characters who have to prop Keeley to make her redeemable and it just didn't work for me. Never mind the fact that badass Hades and broody Galen adore her, you have giants and immortals pissing their pants and Torin endlessly spouting sappy poetry about her. I got really tired the number of times he kept telling everyone and himself how perfect, sweet, and pure of heart she is and how he doesn't deserve her. Right. The woman who eats hearts as a hobby has a pure heart? O_o Um...WHO ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? But besides all that, I did not see any chemistry between them and that just ruined everything for me. I felt more sexual tension and pull in that one scene between Cameo and Torin then any scene with these two. It's never a good sign if you keep wishing your hero was paired up with his best friend instead of the heroine. It's one thing if I can't stand one half of the pairing but if I feel the chemistry and the sexual tension then it's another thing entirely. Here it was non-existent. Zip, zilch, zero. Everything quickly became all about Keeley, how to please Keeley, how to win Keeley, how to get her to help the Lords, how to not make her cry, so on and so on. There was no fair balance. And strong arming your friends into accepting your girl when she's given no reason to trust her and looks down her nose and preens and postures at every turn doesn't win her any points from me. I didn’t care for Keeley’s treatment of Torin’s friends. The show she put on in front of a recovering heartbroken Cameo just to mark her territory?
 photo johnhamm.gif
I wanted to scratch her eyes out! Like Bitch STEP OFF. I did find it ironic and slightly amusing that Anya out of all people didn’t like Keeley considering they are clone copies. RME. The whole situation with Cameo was ridiculous and suited for High School melodrama. Keeley throws her typical temper tantrum and threatens to leave Torin when she sees him fussing over and taking care of his near DYING best friend Cameo. Why weren’t you paying any attention to meeeee Torin? You couldn't take your eyes off her! SERIOUSLY?!
 photo tumblr_n2xcb3mjJn1sh0yuao1_500.gif
I cannot with this self-centered twit. That was the final nail in the coffin for me.

And the whole brimstone/ward thing was convoluted to me. Keeley who is a Curator, is tied to the earth and it’s elements, she draws her powers and strength from the earth. But brimstone is her kryptonite, if she touches it she is weakened and if someone else is scarred by it her powers are blocked. Is anyone else catching the contradiction here?....If she draws her powers and strength from the earth, wouldn’t brimstone be one of those elements?? I didn’t understand how scarring yourself with it would block her powers? This didn’t really click for me. Same goes for the bonding thing, there seemed to be some contradictions. And the whole concept of her being given a body by Hades as a 'present' creeped me out supremely. Curators are spirits with no form, Keeley was given her body that used to belong to Persephone. Freaky much? I get this is the LOTU world and using bodies as a host may not be that shocking but I wasn't feeling this one. And I still would like to know why she's called the Red Queen?? So random.

The writing was also another factor to my rating. There was nothing organic about the plot or story momentum. The choppy manic writing was all over the place with the story picking up in a frantic mess that made no sense. This lacked flow of any kind with arbitrary jokes and innuendos being shoved in at the most random times. Jokes that have absolutely nothing to do with the conversation that's taking place or the inner dialogue. It was like the characters had ADD. It just screamed ‘Oh look I got jokes! Wanna hear them? let me shove it in here. Har har har! -__- We get it Gena, funny moments are fun but this many? MAKE IT STOP. Please. It becomes unbearably hokey.

As far the side plots go, they were more interesting then the main couple but..there wasn't enough of it.

William & Gilly
 photo 773790.gif
Yes yes I still want them. *sigh* William sure did a 180 in here, going from overprotective growly guardian trying to keep his distance from Gilly in the last handful of books to giving her outright heated smoldering looks that everyone in the house is picking up on and pointing out. I was kinda surprised by this abrupt turn and can't help but feel like the rug is gonna get pulled out from under us. I’m a little scared what Gena has in store. This book is the perfect example that GS is notorious for changing her mind for storyline/plot directions and who to pair up with who. And she's been verrrry tight lipped about William and Gilly. I swear if this is another psych! red herring I’m gonna scream. It seems everything is building up to Gilly’s 18th Birthday party. There were giant anvils being thrown around that something big is gonna happen when Gilly turns legal. I hope it's something good, like this girl finally getting a POV and some character growth.

Lazarus & Cameo
The couple that stole the show entirely. Lazarus completely stole Tor’s thunder. Oh boy did he ever. And just by 3 measly too-damn-short scenes. I’m obsessed with these two now. I’m waiting for sexy Lazarus to barrel down the door of the fortress, take Cameo, carry her off fireman style and make her his love slave. Oooooh Lazarus...
 photo oooh.gif
My gawd he’s a SEXAY BEAST! I want him. Cameo’s reaction to seeing Tor happy broke my heart. At least Gena was consistent in that regard by addressing the history and feelings between Torin and Cameo. It was bittersweet. I wanna see Cameo happy and Lazarus is the perfect specimen to make that happen. In more ways than one. Unf.

Galen & Legion
I really hope Gena gives this guy his HEA. It seems he's switching sides maybe? and I'm totally fine with this. Really great potential and great character growth for this anti-hero. I love him with Legion a.k.a Honey (by the way hate this new name). He played a bigger part in this and seems genuinely concerned and set on winning Legion's trust. I hope he succeeds. I want more of Legion's POV. Give them a story pleeease!

Baden
Probably the most random WTH? side plot inserted in here. Correct me if I'm wrong but the last time we heard from Baden he was content in Heaven when Aeron 'died' no? I know he definitely wanted to come back and asked his brothers to help save him. That was in Book 5. So what the hell is he doing stuck in a random realm in here? How did he get there? I felt like this was a pretty big plot hole and haphazardly shoved in here. Or maybe I need to brush up on my history and forgot something that happened in the last book. How did Torin find out about him? Everything was wrapped up a little too easy and quickly with him in here to interest me. We haven't heard from him in a long while so I was expecting his rescue to be a little more climactic.

Overall: I'm just here for the 3 couples I mentioned, that's it. Anything else I don't care for at this point. I love these guys but I feel like this series has run it's course and is starting to get very mechanical. The passion and intensity that was there in spades in the beginning has all but vanished and characters are taking on the roles of cartoon-like interchangeable caricatures. Her Angels of the Dark series is picking up footing and steam where this is starting to fall apart.

4 Crazy Queen Stars!
This is the eleventh book in the Lords of the Underworld series. It's Torin and Keeleys story.

Torin is keeper of disease. He can not have skin to skin contact with anyone without giving them a disease that will spread and kill a ton of people. So he spends his days locked in his room doing all the computer work. He can hack into anything. He's like the security guy. When he leaves the room he makes sure his skin is covered with layers of clothing and gloves on his hands. All the Lords know not to touch him. The Lords won't die if they do but they could become carriers of the disease and spread it. Torin is lonely and is still a virgin. He craves to be able to touch a women. But he's made that mistake before taking out an entire community from just one touch on a woman's face. He never wants to feel that guilt again.
Keeley is a curator. She gets her powers from the Earth. She's very powerful. That is until Hades tricked her into warding herself with stone that made her powers weaken and later got her locked away.
While Keeley was locked in a cell for centuries there was another woman there named Mari. Mari and Keeley were very close. Mari calmed Keeley down because she was so sweet and kind. Mari approached by King Cronus and he offered her a deal. If she died then he would set Keeley free.
Mari was aloud to flash to Torin for an hour a day totaling 24 hours. Her and Torin became friends and when Mari went to touch Torin after several days he thought she was immune to his demon so he let her. Torin thought this was the woman sent to him from Cronus. Mai got sick. Torin flashed with her back to the prison cell and tried to care for her. But nothing made Mai better. Keeley is pissed at Torin and she wants him to die! Torin feels so guilty over what happened to Mai that he welcomes Keeleys wrath.
As the days go by with Keeley and Torin being trapped in another world Keeley stops hating Torin more and more. They come across some pretty strange creatures. They also are trying to fight their feelings for each other. Keeley thinks because she is so powerful that there is no way she will get sick from Torins touch. Torin is not willing to risk it. But he has a hard time keeping Keeley away.
These two were so funny! I loved them both. The things they had to do to be with each other was crazy. Then throw in Keeleys ex Hades who decides he wants her back and the other Lords also need her help to find Cameo and Viola that got sucked into the parring rod.
Will Keeley find a way to be with Torin without getting sick? Will they all figure out how to get Viola and Cameo back? Will Torin decide to leave Keeley for good? Will Hades win back Keeleys heart?
So much happened in this book.
Baden, Cronus, Rhea and Pandora are all trapped together.
Lazarus grabs Cameo when she comes through the parring rod. I LOVED being with them! I can not wait for their story! I wish it was next! lol But nooooooooo....
The next book is Badens story and I'm curious to see who the human is that gets this Lord. I'm thinking maybe the human that has his demon??? I can't wait!!!
Now...I'm just like everyone else sitting around waiting for the next book. I'm so bummed:((
Awesome job GS! Loving your books!!

Poor Torin. All this time he's waited and we finally get around to him and he doesn't even get to have a cock. Why couldn't he have been gotten in while we could still have good sex? Surely of all the Lords, the virgin most deserves a cock. Paris got to have a cock, even, as hard as he'd worked that thing, but Torin will only get to have a hardness used as a noun or worse, an "it." This is so unfair.

WHAT.THE.HELL.DID.I.JUST.READ!!!

"The Darkest Touch" was a Breathtaking,Mindblowing,Sexy,Romantic,Compelling and Hilarious instalment to the series of "Lords of the Underworld".Torin is the virgin Alpha-male Lord i had set my eyes on already from the beginning of this series. This lonely, fierce, badass tortured man who can`t touch anyone without spreading disease.I CRAVED HIS BOOK WITH EVERY CELL OF MY BODY and now when i have read it i am simply undone and crushed with so many emotions i can`t take it.I couldn`t put this book down,no wonder i finished it after 3 hours in a row.

In the former book Torin got himself caged in a cell to save the girl who was sent to him by Cronus. She dies when he touches her and he then meets her friend, the beautiful creature who are locked in another cell in front of him.Keeleycael the Red Queen is a powerful Curator with incredible powers. She hates Torin immediately thinking he had killed her friend Mari with purpose and decides to war against him. Both Torin and Keeley realizes that beneath the burning desire between them, there is a evergrowing love they both strive to fight for.

Keeley has the behaviour and stance of a Queen, but she did have a very hot temper and could be over bearing sometimes with her mightyness and sometimes selfish rude behaviour. But i really came to love her as a heroine.Being locked in prison for centuries had made her cynical but she had her humanity and her honor left.If it weren`t for Mari she certainly would have lost it.She refused to care because she tend to care too much and that made her so endearing to me.Once she realizes that she wants Torin she does everything to fight for him despite his demon.I love how she seduces him, protects him and adores him.She saw the lonely heartbreaking soul inside of him when no other did and loved him for the man he is.

Torin, the keeper of the demon of Disease is a white-haired and green-eyed warrior that oozes with sexiness despite being a virgin...damn that only made him sexier!!!!He was intense as a lover and guardian, fiercely crazy and possessive and BESOTTED and crazy irrevocably in love with Keeley who he always called his Princess just to tease her.He never could resist her despite his demon of Disease, once he touched her she fell into sickness...only for her to seduce him again and her to fall into sickness again.Everytime Torin forced himself to leave her but then only for him to fall into her embrace again. They always challenged each other, teased, amused, played and loved.Torin and Keeley are IT and how happy i am that they found each other in the most extraordinary way.Torin will always be one of my top favourite Lords,he is so awesome and badass and sexy that he makes my mouth water!Watching him falling in love with Keeley was so bittersweet and romantic and sensual. It was a whole adventure itself and one i never wanted to be over.Until now he had watched all his friends fall in love, now it was his turn to fall body, heart and soul for Keeley...and WHAT A JOURNEY THAT WAS!I want to read this again!!!!

***
“Don’t leave me. Please don’t leave me. But if you do, I will understand. I will also stalk you to the ends of the earth. In heaven or in hell. There is nowhere you can go that I won’t find you. You are mine—I let you get away once, and I’m not doing it again. Ever. So, try to keep yourself from me, I dare you, and I will wage war with you.”-Torin
***

Hades is one selfish wicked bastard, but he does look redeemable to me since i see he sincerely cared for Keeley and regretted his actions in the past.Galen is in the Family which i am so happy over,i love him despite him being a former villian, but i know he is pining for Legion and i am so dying for their story!Oh and Puck who is keeper of demon Indifference also appears and i know he is future mate of Gilly`s ,which i am so excited for and they haven`t even met!Give me more Cameo and Lazarus please because they are so smoldering sexy together!I am also happy Baden is back since the Lords have missed him immensely, and i am excited for his story next in "The Darkest Torment"!Ahhhh so much to look forward to!

Actual Rating: 2.5 stars.

I liked it, yes. However, I am somewhat tired of reading about who appears to be the same heroine and male characters over and over again repeated in each installment with different names.
The female main characters, seem to be exactly the same woman in almost every book of this series. Most of them have the same traits: egocentric, insecure, big mouth, selfish, capricious, and a few more that tent to be repeated. After 11 books, it has become very obvious that there is a lack character development in this series.
The stories are entertaining, but I don't think that is enough to hold my interest in this series anymore. We will see.

Update: December, 16th, 2014

I finally finished this one. Geez, but it took me forever and a day to actually do it!

I don't even know what to say. It's Gena Showalter, folks, and it's her best series yet and it's freaking Torin aka Disease, so of course I would like it. But I just feel so disappointed.

Maybe it was because my expectations were too high, giving that Torin was always my favourite, along with Aeron, and there's the fact he could never touch anyone, so of course it would be monumental when he finally found his match.

Maybe, I was expecting a different plot, even though I can't say for sure what it actually was.

Or maybe, just maybe, it was because I don't think The Red Queen is a good match for Torin.

I will admit Keeleycael is funny. She's a kickass fighter, who doesn't take shit from anybody and gives as good as she gets.

But she's not my type of heroine. I prefer them like Olivia, Aeron's lady love. She's strong and fierce, a warrior in her own right, yet gentle and loving.

She doesn't need to keep spitting death threats or stupid crap to bust her self esteem. Plus, she doesn't have that annoying trait so many women in books have, which is fear of commitment and thinking loving someone will only make you weak and break you.

Keeley is just another hellion like Anya and Kaia and, though they have their qualities, they're just not the type of women that make me long to be in their shoes.

Plus, I didn't much feel the connection between her and Torin. I felt the intense sexual attraction, but there was nothing deeper than that for me.

Apart from that, the book was great. Lots of stuff going on and characters doing surprising stuff, that you can't help but want the next book in your hands.

By the way, I am hoping and praying like hell for the next book to be William and Gilly's. Those two are killing me with the tension. It's so obvious both of them love and desire each other that it's almost silly.

I think it will be Cameo and Lazarus's though and, if so, it's going to be awesome as well. I bet there are way too many great stuff on the way for them. It's just Gena prolonging my misery and longing. LOL

------

THE DARKEST TOUCH?

Oh...my...God!

I freaking knew it! I must be a witch or something. I freaking knew the title would be this one!

Darla, girl, do you remember when we seriously ranted about the series and said it would be awesome if the title of Torin's book was The Darkest Touch? Guess what? It is! Mwahahahahahahah :D

I loooove it! It sounds decadent...sinful...luxurious...

Like Torin! *moans*

Gena Showalter has created a spectacular world, dark and complex characters so beautifully detailed in her long-running The Lords of the Underworld series and her latest novel, The Darkest Touch, the 11th book, is as refreshing and breathtaking as from the start of book #1.
Torin, the demon of Disease has been a fascinating character from the first time we met him….
photo 05_Butterfly_in_smoke_zps0b0c39df.jpga warrior, loyal, lonely, unable to get close to or touch anyone due to what is demon is able to do…..
 photo f61475e3aa3c7a3255ca33538805c909_zpsa4d1556b.jpg
His life is about to change when he meets fellow prisoner, Keeleycael, The beautiful and powerful Red Queen.
photo f2ddb66b2ca7930416b3a9d47eb18937_zps2804ecc4.jpg. I loved this character….bad tempered, fierce, intelligent, sassy and totally awesomely adorable…did I mention that her hair color changes with the seasons…that’s right…from dark to light…
 photo daa11b41197b272e913a1de0ab5cf389_zps744f8a9b.jpg
The Red Queen. No wonder the immortals in the skies had merely whispered about her. Insane? Cruel? Hell, yeah. They’d probably assumed saying her name aloud would have a Beetlejuice effect and actually summon her.

The sexual tension and chemistry between these two is totally sizzling…
 photo a2d0255ae40fb422d30115c1608c3e2a_zps0a760cf1.jpg
Torin is lost….resisting her is the hardest thing he has ever had to do….if he gives in, his touch could mean her death.

Keeley, who has been around…married to a brutal guy, then betrayed by Hades…no, this girl does not trust men!!! But Torin is not like other men, she soon discovers……she cannot keep away from him…as they travel through the realms of the breathtaking and so well detailed world that the author has created.
Amazing writing, compelling plot and incredible dialogue that is witty and totally sparkling….
“You’ll experience agony in ways you’ve never dreamed possible. for I’ll do to you what I’ve done to so many others. I will skin you with a cheese grater and stuff your organs into a blender to make a smoothie. I will donkey punch your skull so hard your brain will ooze out of your eye sockets.”
The first part of the story is Torin and Keeley, which I liked but half-way….that’s what I loved - when they both arrive at the Lords of the Underworld’s home in Budapest!!! That’s when I jumped for joy!!!
Checking in with characters we have come to know from the previous books, which I have sorely missed, and the action and suspense and laughter and more laughter….the interaction between Keeley and Anya is amazing….a grin on my face every time these two got together!!!

New characters…loved the Lord’s kids… new revelations…..and still on the trail of that elusive Pandora’s Box!!!!

Gena Showalter never fails ….the series just gets better and better…….I can’t wait for the next book….maybe Cameo…the only demon-possessed female…I would love to read her story!!!!
Lords of the Underworld ROCK!!!!

Well, we finally get to Torin's book and it is a doozy. I have felt bad for Torin since we first were introduced to him. He harbors the demon of Disease and that means a single touch can kill you and yes, he has started world plagues. But can you imagine never being able to touch another? Not to mention, never to have any sexual contact! And please, that nonsense with Cameo just made things worse.

And then we have the Red Queen, aka Keeley, who is a different being all together. You would think that alone would be enough drama but oh no...they have to start off hating each other, of course.

description

It doesn't take long for things to progress! And by that I mean, Gena Showalter is...BACK!! This book is all kinds of steamy! I was actually shocked when these two were doing something other than thinking about sex, figuring out ways to have sex, wanting each other and pushing each other away sex....and well just plain ol' sex.

But of course, there's other story lines going on...some were extremely interesting and surprising. And yes, William is still being the lovable pervert!

I loved that we had a lot of interaction with most of the couples. Anya and Keeley together were hilarious and just what Keeley needed. And girls night out...what a hoot, well, except how it ended.

It was wonderful how Torin and Keeley finally figured things out...thanks to a surprising someone and you just gotta love that epilogue! Who knew Torin could be so romantic!

description

It almost seemed to me that there is a beginning of things wrapping up. I felt like I know who the next few couples will be and there's some progression in finding the box. And to be honest with you, I'm all for it, that is, as long as my favorites get a book! ;)

Favorite quotes:

♥ “There’s no way I’d abandon you when we’re about to play my favorite game. Incompetent Doctor and Uncooperative Patient.”

♥ “And no, I don’t think you’re wearing mom jeans. Any jeans you wear automatically become babe jeans.”

♥ “Deny, deny, deny, is that it?”

“Shut up.”

“Dude, I hope I’m best man at your wedding.”

♥ “Say it. Mean it with every fiber of my being. I’m lost for you, Keys, and don’t want to be found. Can’t imagine a moment without you—don’t want to. You are my treasure, my addiction, not touch. You are my sickness, and I want nothing to do with a cure.”

♥ Anya fist-pumped and shouted, “Ho team...assemble!”

♥ “Do you need your vitamin D injection, princess? Or do you prefer to call it your medicine?”

♥ “I’m going to make you happy,” she vowed.

“Princess, you already do.”

*sigh* After postponing this book for over a year, I kinda wanted to like it... but yeah, I don't think that's the case. At least completely.

I had several issues with this instalment. The first (and probably the main one) is the dialogue. I. Just. Couldn't. Stand. It. I didn't like any of those "quirky and cute" comebacks between Torin and Keeley. Boy, they probably are my least favorite couple. I thought Kane and Josephina were bad.

But if I had problems with the way Torin and Keeley talked to each other, then I totally disliked Keeley. I mean, she is VERY powerful and feared and she's a legend BUT she was so weak like?? How can someone like her be so fragile? And I don't mean physically, although yeah, but rather mental and emotionally. I get that her power comes from bonds and stuff but she spent 89% of the time talking about how AMAZING and BLODDY THIRSTY she is and how she could rule any kingdom but she fell short.

She was too nice, too clingy, too forgiven and just too not queenly. And yes, she was supposed to grow up and let people in and all of that but how can I take her seriously when I know what to do or say to beat her? All about her screamed power but she chose to only talk about it and fall ill over and over again.

I also didn't like Torin in this book. I don't know if he was always like this or maybe it was because this was his story but I just couldn't like him. He was oh so hot-and-cold and no, his demon was not an excuse.

At the end, I actually started rooting a bit for Hades. That's how much I did not like this couple. For me, after Paris' book, this series started to grow weaker and weaker with very odd pairings and just plain crazy situations and I don't know how long can Gena keep up until William's book.

I liked the inclusion of the other pairings and there were funny moments but I didn't get the thrill I used to whenever I read about the old couples. I don't know if this is me outgrowing the series or just a change of taste or if this series if falling into THE VOID after so many books.

I think that the only positive thing that came out of this book was my curiosity for Baden and Galen... anyhow, I just don't care about Torin and Keeley.

I'm sorry, I really tried but I can't bother and don't have the time for reading more of that nonsense. I can't believe that this book was written by the same author who wrote Lucien & Anya or Aeron & Olivia stories.

Poor Torin, I truly think that he deserved better than this. I couldn't even recognize him here :(((

Except for the few passages related to William the last book was boring but I managed to finish it. With this one I'm done with this series.

5 All Hail The Red Queen stars!!!

"I will be such a benevolent overlord," she said. "I will demand only that everyone do exactly as I say, when I say. And bow whenever I enter a room. And bring me gifts at least once a day. And throw rose petals at my feet as I pass."

Phenomenal Read!

Right from the start I was confused by what was going on. The writing seemed manic and gave me whiplash. I had to re-read certain pages because I couldn't get a grip on what was happening. Torin's personality is complete different from what we've seen from the past books. Also Keeley was too strange for me to like. She comes across as very spoiled and bratty. I really didn't get the connection between her and Torin. I was more interested in the side stories and characters, such as Cameo, Baden and William (I WANT WILLIAM's STORY ASAP!)

Also the way Torin can control his demon and touch Keeley seems like a quick fix. It was really obvious and easy that it was surprising no one thought of this when Torin's demon was first forced on him.

Other than the side stories, there's not much going on here. I really wasn't invested in Torin and Keeley as a couple. Their romance seems forced.

This latest LOTU book was a dud for me.

Just read this a second time after going to the beginning and reading the full series. I love this one the best. Keeley and Tor as well as Lucien/Anya and Gid/Scarlet are now my top three couples

FUCKING. AMAZING. Deserves a full review but I'm too lazy right now I just wanna read more lol. But I will definitely come back and review this. This is the first of this series that I have read and even though I missed a lot from the first 10 books lol, just fyi you can read this without having read the others. but I'm going back to the beginning cause it was friggin amazing.

I FUCKING LOVE KEELEY. GREATEST HEROINE EVER, HONESTLY

My most anticipated LOTU novel- ugh. Disappointment abounds. Ya know, I can’t even say I was disappointed with his heroine,( although to be the Red Queen (“OFF with her head!”) You’d think you’d get a little more reference to her time in Wonderland?? Idk maybe copyright issues there, but found that I before E except after C weird.). I was disappointed with Torin. This? Was not the Torin we saw before.

Starting off with Torin trapped in another realm imprisoned by Cronus, with a girl whom was supposed to be immune to his touch- turns out, not. She’s dead by the demon of disease trapped inside him at the very beginning. But the other lass in a cell nearby- she’s something else all together. And she’s pissed he was the instrument of death to this gal she also happened to be bonded too.

Keeleycael (::roll eyes::) is the ever impressive, the long contained, often imitated, but never duplicated...oh wait. That’s not right, though that's what she sounded like alotta the time bragging herself up as the Bloodiest Queen evah. Anyway, she’s the Red Queen and she begins her time with Torin swearing vengeance upon him.

Of course they want each other right away too, so there is that- in a big way.

They bust out of prison and indeed find a strong mutual attraction and he does give in to their desire and touches her. And she does gets sick… BUT she recovers. This happens over and over through the story because they can’t help themselves and they're sure that THIS time is the time she won’t get sick. He even tries to leave her- but that doesn’t work so well, because they also are on a mission- and its more than rescue his friends- it’s also discovering the final artifact that everyone is after which will fix all that is wrong in their world. whatevs

Torin is all wrong in this book which thoroughly ruined it for me. I thought he was tortured and anxsty from the previous books- no so here. He’s all blood thirsty and chest poundy. I was like- wha?? Every time he said or thought anything. And I didn’t think she was half as cute as he thought she was. I didn’t hate her- she suffered from too much rejection for that- (my weakness in a heroine). I just didn’t see her as he saw her.

So yeah. one star for didn't like and one big boo hoo for so bombing on the most anticipated story evah. ugh

Re-Leido *EDITADO

NICE!!!!!!!!!! The Red Queen she is sooooooo funny and is good
This books 1 and the 11 are my favorite

**SPOILER ALERT**
