Darkest Faerie Tale #2

Deep Into the Abyss

Rate this book
Kidnapped and bound, Mya is stripped of everything. Her soul is left bare, exposed, and raw to the one man who captivated her from the beginning. The only man she can never claim as hers. As he builds the trust between them, he uses her desire for him as a tool to break her down, intensifying her magickal powers.

Soon, the veil of illusion drops between the Seelie and Unseelie Courts while Mya learns about her fate as the only hybrid ever born. As she comes to terms with the brutal truths of her birth, she questions whether she can pick up the broken pieces and unite the two sides of herself. Can she become whole one again?

Living with his actions is a battle Cole faces every day. His scar is a haunting reminder of why he can’t have the one woman he hungers for. He’s the monster who tainted the future Queen of the Unseelies-and he loved every twisted moment of it. But to protect his status as an Elder in the Unseelie Court, he must relinquish the craving to own her. Cole uses whatever means necessary to stay away from Mya, even if it means leaving her and betraying the trust he’s built between them.

Once again Riley Bancroft delivers with Deep into the Abyss. Book two gives a more intimate and deeper view into Mya and Cole’s dark and explosive connection. Not for the faint of heart, the psychological and emotional boundaries Cole pushes Mya to cross are darkly beautiful and erotic. Bancroft is particularly strong with delivering on Mya’s reactions to Cole and putting the reader inside both characters’ heads. The love scenes are brutally hot once again, but the emotion backing it, especially in the cabin scenes, is particularly heartbreaking. Mya loses a level of innocence, a sense of self and potentially her heart as her true powers manifest and she’s faced with losing Cole.

Abyss takes the reader into the vivid world of the Unseelie compound where the rest of Mya’s training is to take place. Mya is introduced to Liam, the Unseelie Elder responsible for her next level of training as she attempts to deal with the reality of her heritage and acclimate to her new environment without Cole. Bancroft has created original and intriguing characters responsible for training Mya to inevitably live up to her birthright. The Unseelie compound scenes are extremely well written in the sense of visual imagery—reminiscent of the fire scene in Tempest in Disguise. Another strong point to Bancroft’s writing is her dialogue; a wonderful example is when Mya takes a night off to go drink. The bar scene introduces the charismatic bartender / Army commander, Drake, who’ll be training Mya in the next phase much to Cole’s dismay. The writing is fast paced, funny and compelling, as it drops the reader smack into the scene with the characters.

Hot commanders, old enemies and catty bitches aside, there’s no breaking the connection between Cole and Mya. Bancroft keeps the reader on edge with plot twits and turns, but always cheering for Cole and Mya to find their way to each other. They are both hard-headed, independent characters with a beautiful, undeniable, weakness for each other. But can their relationship hold up against all odds? Bring on book three!

This had me gobbling up the story. Cole takes Mya back to the compound the fai court. And she goes through 2 weeks of training to harness her powers to become queen. Liam takes over the training and Cole stays away. The fai dont let her outside so shes stuck inside. Mya can't understand why. Cole hasn't come near her . It's hard for Cole to keep his distance. She does amazing well and Liam desiderate to treat her to a day outside. All the birds sense who she is and all of them come to the branches to see her even the owls. Liam tells her of the treachery the seelies where up to, they wanted to kill her within the hour of her birth. She let's out a howl so so loud that the creature are hurt for her. Cole comes to her rescue. He takes her to her bedroom and he tys to be make her fell better sexualy. That evening she tells Liam that she needs out and he can't stop her . She goes to a bar and low and behold she sees Cole with another woman and she let's out a howl inside of her self. She sees the sexy bartender and she decides to punish Cole by more than flirting with the bartender, who she finds out is drake.
Cole puts a stop to it and tries to put her in her place.
Meanwhile Gavin finds out where she is and digs a hole in the court. He sees her light and goes into the room. He HATES it because he sees Coles body in Mya bed. Maya freezes both of them. Still written in 3rd Person POV, it wasn't boring, I like the story flow and the writing style.

The story's promising, but the sex scenes were too long! I want a story, a real story, it was good, it was getting better then they'll go and bang each other.

I like the plot, it's very interesting and I hope to read more about Mya's capabilities, not how hung up she was about Cole who's too scared or who's trying to avoid Mya because he's tainted and shit and not fit to be with a queen and blah blah blah.

Cole's dominating in bed, but his character's kind of... not that strong?

What I don't like about this novel? That it's a cliff! It was getting better and super interesting and it just ended!!! Hopefully the 3rd book is the last book and that it's going to be atleast a 4-hour or better yet, an 8 hour-read novel.

Deep into the Abyss Book 2 of 4 - Amazing series.

Loving this series ... it's getting better and better ! Mya is kidnapped and broken down bit by bit. Only once she uses her magick does Cole then break the silence of what the plans are, now she needs to learn to use and harness her powers but can they still be together?

A beautiful, erotic and emotional read, I was completely drawn into their world and enjoyed the passionate hot scenes too. Cole is so desperately trying to do whats right, but he's finding it so hard to leave Mya, their connection is just too strong. I am so ready to get started on book 3/Fractures of Betrayal.
