Alien Abduction #24

Xara and the Xenobeast

Rate this book
Abducted from Earth.
Left for dead in a world full of monsters.
Claimed by the most dangerous one of all…

Xara’s quiet vacation comes to an abrupt end when she is abducted by aliens. Her situation goes from bad to worse when she crash lands on a mysterious alien planet. She’s injured, alone, and every creature on the planet seems determined to kill her.

Until one of them saves her.

Huge, silent, and scarred, he doesn’t speak, doesn’t smile, and doesn’t let her out of his sight. But he cares for her. Feeds her. Protects the orphaned alien babies who’ve imprinted on her.

The Xenobeast was designed for destruction. Exiled by the creators who once controlled him, he’s lived in isolation for years. Until a pretty little female stumbles into his domain with fire in her eyes and a scent that drives him mad. She’s soft where he’s hard. Light where he’s dark. And every time she looks at him, he forgets the monster they made him to be.

But when Xara is threatened, he’ll show them exactly how lethal he can be - because no one takes what belongs to him.

Each book in the Alien Abduction series features a different couple and can be enjoyed as a standalone romance. Intended for mature readers.

I’ve really enjoyed this series up until this book. Honestly it felt like a VERY rough draft. There were meme changes for characters at different parts and weird parts of the plot that were partially repeated with different endings or from different characters perspectives. I’m not really sure what happened with this book as I have read so many of Honey’s other books and never noticed anything this significantly problematic/bad with the writing.

Quite disappointing but here is to hoping that the next one will be better.

Honestly this series always delivers, especially when I’ve had a break for a while. Loved the found family aspect in this one, so cute.

Rough draft

The story is compelling and interesting. However, it seemed from the beginning that it relieved heavy help from AI editing. As long as a human is plotting and writing, I have no objection to Chatgpt or whatever being helpful. But by the 65% mark, it was clear that this was a rough draft. Plot inconsistencies, repeat scenes from the other main characters POV that don't match each other, scenes that abruptly end and the next scene it's like that never happened. I have loved Honey Phillips stories so far, so this was incredibly disappointing. Hopefully the next one is back to the usual excellent story.

Although this story is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.

I loved this story! It begins when human female Xara wakes up in a crashed spaceship on an unknown alien planet. She has no memory of how she got there and the alien who kidnapped her is dead. She decides to leave the spaceship and seek help. While exploring the planet, she discovers three orphaned alien pups who imprint on her, but the planet is dangerous. Xara and the pups soon find themselves in great danger but luckily they are saved by a dangerous warrior. To keep them safe, he takes them to his cave. Xara is scared but she’s smart enough to know that her best chance of survival is to stay with the dangerous warrior. But is he really so dangerous? He’s very protective of her and the pups aren’t afraid of him. Xara gives the Xenobeast a name, Ash. Ash is large, has tendrils who like to touch her and claws on his hands. He’s a predator, the Zarkadi’s tried to make him into a weapon, but they failed to turn him into a monster. He still has a conscience, and that’s why they dropped him on this planet. They considered him a failure.
Ash knows how to survive in difficult and dangerous circumstances. Xara and Ash grow closer and fall in love but then Ash’s enemies are back on the planet, they are looking for someone. But who? Ash or Xara? Luckily, Ash and Xara aren’t alone, they get a little help from other inhabitants of the planet but will that be enough? Ash knows one thing for sure, he will use every trick he knows to protect Xara and the pups.

I really loved both Xara and Ash. Xara was such a compassionate, caring, intelligent and pragmatic woman. She was scared but also brave. She cared deeply for Ash. She saw the man beneath the dangerous warrior. She made of his cave a home, letting him experience what it was like to have a mate and a family (with the pups). She was patient with him, but also eager to learn how to protect herself and their home. Xara was also very curious of their surroundings about the flora and fauna. Her scientific mind allowed her to adapt quickly to her new surroundings.
Ash was so amazing! He was a warrior and fought against dangerous animals and persons. He was also a hunter, who hunted for food for Xara and the pups. But he was more than that. He was also sensitive enough to worry about their well-being, about hurting them with his power. He wanted Xara to feel comfortable in his cave so he made it more comfortable for her. He wanted her to feel at home there. When she was sick, he cared for her. He had no experience with kindness or gentle touches, so at first he didn’t know how to handle it, but after a while, he also loved touching Xara (with his hands and his tendrils! Which made for some interesting scenes.).

The pups were so adorable! Even though they were small they were protective of Xara. They each had their own personality. They were cute.

The story was told from both POV’s and included a few sex scenes.

I really loved this story!

3.5 stars.

This was pretty much a 4 star for the most part, which kinda shocked me since I really didn’t like the other book in the series I read (U), but I’ve either really liked or hated every book by this author. Issues I had with this was in the beginning so many scenes were repeated in the other persons POV and it’s not necessary. You don’t really get anything more and it adds nothing but repetitiveness. I disliked how … not smart the scientist lady is. Her need to explore outweighed her need to survive 100% of the time, giving survival barely a thought 90% of the time and while I sort of understood it it drove me bonkers. He gave me Predator vibes and I don’t know if that’s why I enjoyed it so much but… I think it definitely helped. And then the end kinda bought it down for me. There were many chapters that could/should have been the end and then it just wasn’t. I think HP would benefit more with chopping 50-75 pages off and having this be quick 200 page scifis. I think when the ‘worlds’ change from book to book you don’t need more on the world building & should really focus more on the romance. Seeing the other tribe once would have even been sufficient. My last main gripe is the first sex scene… so many mentions of the ‘kids’ being in the bed, she’s initiating intimacy with the kid ON TOP OF HIM, then the kid scurries to the end of the bed with the others and then they bang it out…………… nope. I was so grossed out the whole time, she even makes a bed for herself at some point and they get rid of it to make a bigger bed for all of them but not just a bed for the kids. They go to another room their first intimate moment but not the next time????

'He wasn’t supposed to care. Caring was weakness, and weakness meant death. His creators had programmed that lesson into every cell, reinforced it with pain beyond imagining.
Yet he couldn’t look away, couldn’t retreat, and couldn’t maintain the cold distance that had kept him alive in exile.
Something twisted inside him— a sensation so long buried he barely recognized it. A feeling they had tried to burn out of him with punishment and reconditioning— protectiveness...
He had no further reason to stay.
Instead, he moved closer, drawn by something he couldn’t name.'

I absolutely loved this book. This whole series has been amazing and I can't believe there are only two more Alien Abductions left. Great world building and wonderful characters. This was a fun adventure with action, suspense, and danger. I loved Xara and fell in love with the Xenobeast so fast it wasn't even funny. Strong, silent, protective, observant. I was sad for his loneliness, but she changed him even before they met.

'Long years of solitude, of nothing but survival, and now this female had changed everything.'

Xara was kind and had good instincts. I liked the way their relationship developed and they were cute together. I liked the dynamic between them and the chemistry. My heart melted for the little pups- especially when their markings pulsed in time to her heartbeat.

A beautiful romance. 5 stars.

Xara and the Xenobeast is a wonderfully entertaining Sci-Fi romance and the twenty- fourth book of the author’s Alien Abduction series.
Biologist Dr. Xara Reyes was abducted from Earth while leaving her university one night and when she is aware again finds herself wounded in a crashed alien spaceship with a dead alien pilot.
Walking out of the ship she is surrounded by a strange yet beautiful forest where she comes across three of the cutest little orphaned alien creatures, Graxlin pups as we learn later on. But they aren’t the only beings in the forest there are dangerous ones too, a huge Xenobeast designed for destruction who watches and waits, confused by the way he is drawn to the strange female creature.
Danger soon draws them into contact though when the beast saves Xara and the pups from an attack and brings them to his sanctuary for safety and healing.
Loved this well crafted story with it’s captivating writing, wonderful characters, excellent world building, mystery, danger, surprises, action, intrigue, passion, and emotion. After many years left alone and in isolation the universe has finally given the Xenobeast what he deserves, more than one tactical advantage.
Awesome story!.

Xara is in a bit of a situation. She woke up on a crashed spaceship (her last memories were decidedly NOT of being on said spaceship) on a planet that's a little bit deadly. To be fair, any planet where one doesn't know the terrain or the biological hazards would be deadly. But this planet has A LOT that can kill an individual. That said, the planet is livable. Mostly. Plus, Xara's background in biology means she has a few skills that might help keep her alive.

The Xenobeast is intrigued by Xara. He's managed to carve out an existence on this planet after being exiled here. He's survival focused, keeps to himself, and is strangely drawn to the female who shows surprising empathy for creatures weaker than her. While it goes against his training as a weapon designed only for destruction, he can't help but step in when Xara and the pups she rescued needs him. Now the stoic alien is playing house with a determined human woman and three pups and...he's kind of liking it.

A dangerous planet, intelligent natives, a homey cave, predatory aliens who need to be stopped, a bioengineered male who is far more than a weapon, and a lady who finds a way to adapt to a terrible situation and finds exactly the place she's meant to be. *thumbs up*

One of my favorites in the series!🌟🔥💖

We are heading into the x,y,&z part of the series. I'm actually hoping that its not truly the end of the series and that maybe Honey Phillips will revisit the Kaisarian Empire or the Dominion in future books. Xara is a scientist on earth she works with plant life and animal life on her way home she's abducted by aliens. She never reaches her true destination and the ship crashes on a beautiful planet where everything tries to kill you. Xenobeast created and honed to be the perfect weapon. Punished for thinking for himself he is exiled to a deadly planet to survive or die. When he sees a ship crash he didn't realize how his lonely life would change. Who rescues who in this story ? I think they rescue each other from dangers both from the past and the planet. They also rescue each other from loneliness and pain. They made allies ad protected each other and formed a family that both wanted but never thought they'd have. Ash/ Xenobeast is a wonderful character well thought out and beautifully written. Xara an intelligent and practical earth female who recognizes that Ash is more than his creators planned for and accepted him for who he is. This new world was very compelling and the native species very interesting . love it highly recommend!💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟

Wish I could give this 10 stars !!!!✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

Wow . Just WOW .
This book was such a stupendous, captivating , exciting , adventurous read, that I don't want to put it down !!! It has Everything !! Action , adventure, even some scary circumstances , that had my heart beating all fast .
In this book , we find Xara, a bio- tech professor , and has been kidnapped. And finds herself in a very weird situation.
She is not on earth anymore !!!
As she tries to come to grips with That , she finds herself helping some furry babies.
But she isn't the only being that heard their cries ......

K - 7 is a super soldier who is defective, according to his handlers. What they wanted was blind obedience. What they got wasn't that. When he comes across the weird looking female, he Wants to help. Which he shouldn't. Its one of the Many reasons that he is exiled on this crazy planet .
As these two get together, and learn to trust each other, and survive on this planet where just about everything is trying to kill them.
This is Such a great story !!!! Going to read it Again !!!

This is another fun sci-fi romance installment in the Alien Abduction series. It’s the 24th book in the series, with titles spanning the alphabet, and can be read as a standalone.

FMC Xara is a human biologist who wakes up on a strange and dangerous planet after being abducted from Earth. The nameless Xenobeast MMC is a modified alien soldier who has been exiled there.

I loved this book! It features one of my favorite tropes: a feral hero and the scientist who observes, and ultimately tames him. Xara is curious, kind, and compassionate, while also analytical and sensual. The Xenobeast is at war with himself but can’t help protecting and falling for the lovely female.

This was an exciting and spicy sci-fi romance. Honey Phillips always delivers when it comes to alien and monster romance, and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for the Y and Z titles in this series!

Spice: 4.5/5
Plot:4.5/5
Writing: 4.5/5
My Enjoyment: 4.5/5

This is a series where I wished there were more letters in the alphabet.
A well written, standalone with an endearing HEA for Xara and her beast. I liked the way they communicated . He had not used his voice for many cycles.
Loved the persistence Xara had in helping the beast learn or more correctly unlearn what was drilled through pain and punishment that he was not a weapon or a monster or defective. That he was worth her love and family.
The pups were a wonderful addition to the story .
I liked that they received help from an unexpected place.
Action packed, loved the drama/mystery and of course steam to the eventual romance.
The beast is very protective because he saw something in Xara when she first crash landed. Xara is very smart and curious, sometimes getting her into a little bit of trouble.
This is a book once you start you will not be able to put the book down. Loved it.

I really enjoyed getting to read this newest addition to the Alien Abduction Series and am looking forward to reading the next in this series Yasmin and the Yeti: A ScifFi Alien Romance as well. This book was about Xara and the Xenobeast who later adopts the name Ash and I found both characters interesting. I also loved the 3 little alien pups Dot, Trouble, and Soldier that they rescued and seeing how each of the pups' personalities evolved as well as how they interacted with both Xara and Ash. The epilogue for this book was also really good and I was happy with how things turned out.

Perfect! 🤗😁

I have read all of the Alien Abduction books, along with all of Honey Phillips books, and I think this is one of my favorites now. Xara was an exceptional woman, scientist, Human. From the moment of waking up, injured, and seeing her Alien abductor, dead, from the crash landing on the planet, and calmly assessing her situation, and planning her first steps to survive. The Xenobeast watched closely, from a distance. His first need to step in, and protect her, and the pups. He realized that he couldn't just watch her become a victim to the predators of this jungle world. Very slowly they learn to communicate, till she gives him a new name, suddenly he begins to see that he is more then a failed experiment. They finally become mates, and their world will never be the same. Exceptional plot, and I love how she lets him know, that she wants him, and she's not afraid!

This was so sweet, it hits all the found family, healing together vibes with a dash or smut. I loved how Xara and Ash worked together and how he wasn't a typical alphahole male lead, if anything he was sweet, reluctant and protective which I really liked.

The only thing I took off a star for was I wanted more smut and Xara and Ash annoyed me in some moments like when she kept walking on her busted leg and when someone is literally trying to kill her and she chooses to incapacitate them? that thing was going to end the pups and force her into slavery and she didn't even finish it off. The same goes for ash, he had a chance to take out the thing that hurt him and he chooses the easy way out... which means that thing just comes back and almost kills him? like does no one double tap anymore? there's nothing wrong with taking out evil things that do you harm and I didn't get why neither of them wanted to kill baddies when it was needed.

I want to preface this review by saying that normally, I really enjoy reading Honey Phillips' books. Sometimes she has some books that make me question her editors and whether it was written by AI, but normally I can make it through a read and enjoy it enough to keep going. This time, I just couldn't.
First off, I liked the concept of this storyline. I think it like most of this series, it has great potential; however, with the actual application, it failed. I made it to 65 % and I just can not finish. The story is inconsistent, confusing, repetitive, and different in ways it really shouldn't be, and there is a huge question as to whether it has actually been edited.
So many parts of the story repeat, and repeat wrong from the first telling. The names change, or the story behind the names. The plot storyline is inconsistent and jumps. It is really just a mess and I had to give up.

Dr. Xara Reyes wakes up in pain and bleeding. She is in a wrecked container with a non human looking creature that she remembers moving towards her on campus and then nothing.
She crawls out and hears distinctive chirping noises that she follows. Xara finds three small creatures alone and defenseless, she takes the little ones with her. Seeking shelter and food she is unaware that she is bring followed.
The Xenobeast tracks Xara’s movements and defeats a large insect that has harmed her.
He takes her plus the small creatures back to his dwelling and addresses her wounds. There is a connection that begins to form and will change everything.
Abducted from earth, protective of little ones and saved by a dangerous force was not on Xara’s bingo card but it is exactly what she needed.

This is a fantastic addition to the Alien Abduction series. Be ready for lots of action, suspense, and, of course, romance. Xara awakens in a crashed spaceship, realizing she has been abducted. She is on a planet where everything can kill you, and she needs help. Ash, the Xenobeast, was bred to be a super soldier, a killing machine. But he was exiled to this planet when he didn't perform the way his creators wanted him to. I love Ash and Xara. They are an unusual couple, but they fit perfectly together. There are places in this story that grabbed my heart and made me happy as well. An excellent book with a truly happy ending. I loved it!

A biologist is abducted. When she regains consciousness and sees the crashed pod, the different landscape and heard the sounds, she knows she's not on earth anymore. Wounded and scared, she still moves to find shelter. The occasional flicker of something just out of her line of sight keeps her moving.
As I read the opening pages and chapters, I felt a part of each scene. This world is richly described in its beauty and deadlines. We meet the pups and i fell in love with them. Then we meet Ash. Our MMC is amazingly described in his quiet forceful way.
Honey always creates an amazing world full of unique characters and scenes. She loves her plot twists, and throwing in danger, caring, new connections and steam.

I’m so ready to reread this book again!!

OMG, what can I say about Honey Phillips alien abduction series, each book just gets better and better and the wait for this one was worth it!!! Xara was the perfect mate for the xenobeast. Given that she was a scientist and was a teacher at a college her logical reasoning could help her understand him, and he needed someone logical that would get him and not be terrified of his appearance. Their relationship grew slowly but steadily, and those pups that she found in the forest just adorable. I mean, what can I say? I will be rereading this story hundreds of times it was worth the wait!! I hope she will continue on writing books for the series but I know there’s only two books because you got Y and Z left..

I want us all to appreciate for a moment that this is book 24. We are so close to Z. Shout out and mad props to those of us who have been here since Anna and followed through with all the letters.

Now that I have taken the space to appreciate that, it must be said that out of all the books in the series, this is definitely not one of my favorites. I would have been interested to hear a little bit more about the planet they were on. I'm not sure how to describe it, but sometimes it felt a little like the story had gaps. The gaps were easy to skip over, but I noticed them. Which is why this book doesn't receive a rating higher than three from me, but if you've been following this series for a while, you will definitely enjoy it. I don't recommend starting here though.

Another standout installment of the Alien Abduction series! Xara is a brilliant human biologist who has been abducted from Earth and finds herself stranded on a mysterious alien world—injured and vulnerable— until she is rescued by the Xenobeast, a massive, scarred warrior exiled by his creators.

Xara is smart, compassionate, and sensual, but never damsel‑in‑distress. She’s the perfect match for the protective, quiet beast. As Xara gradually gets him to let his guard down around her, he discovers he is more than the weapon he was created to be.

You don’t need to read the entire alphabetical series to enjoy it—this one stands glorious on its own.

An enjoyable read

I’ve been reading this series- binging - with enjoyment. Each book has been good, but this one is so much different than the others. Sure, it’s the same premise of a captured human female transported for nefarious purposes; however this is so much more.
I was pleased by the conclusion of the story but wished the story was not concluded. Maybe it’s because the technology of the Tal’shai is so fascinating (and I would love the symbiotic relationship between technology and nature on Earth).
The length of the book almost dissuaded me. I’m glad it didn’t. I can’t imagine the story compacted in any way.

very different Alien human HEA

K-7 who is a modified being is deemed defective because he refuses to murder innocents. He is dumped on a supposedly hostile planet. Dr Xara is abducted from earth but wakes up after the craft she is in crashes on the planet K-7 is on.
At first he thinks he should just let her die since the likelihood of survival is so small. Then Xara rescues three orphaned tiny alien pup like creatures.
After being on this planet alone for so many years K-7 begins to feel empathy once more. He rescues Xara and the pups.
This is their love story. It’s a great read with a lot of twists and turns. Of course a great HEA.

This has certainly been an eclectic series and I have enjoyed everyone. This book however is in a class of it's own. Two characters so different and far across the spectrum one could be.

This complex story is sweet, emotional, compassionate, and endearing. Ash and Xara are both deserving of so much more and thankfully with the help of their pups create a bond that solidifies something they both thought they'd never have.

Another amazing read Honey.

Good characters, but some confusion.

I enjoyed the book for the most part. I liked the 2 main characters. But, I could not give 5 stars due to some confusion. One of the things I struggled with was the sequences of the fights. The fight scenes did not seem to flow correctly. Ash killed his nemesis but then killed him again?? And the number of enemy soldiers were accounted for but then there seemed to be a few more... And some seemed to be human? Also, there seemed to be some problems with the names of the pups, because at one point there appeared to be name changes.

I really enjoyed this read! It was fascinating to see how a frail human woman could tame a fierce predator on an alien planet. I was hooked the whole time, right until the end. The male lead has so much heart beneath his tough exterior, which makes him really lovable. And the female lead is so much braver than she appears at first. I loved watching them grow together, leaning on each other’s strengths and their blossoming love.

No matter how mismatched the pairing might appear to be, this author seems to have no issue pulling the H/h together into a warm and rewarding relationship. The characters, world building and perceived conflicts are easy to relate to and pull you right into the story! Yes, it's a bit predictable, however, there are some surprising twists that will make you cheer on the H and h and you'll smile through to the HEA!.

potentially great

I love Honey’s stories, but I struggled through the first half of this one. The Xenobeast had so much character potential that was wasted on his low sense of worth. The first half of the book was him repeating what was already written from his own perspective and including a lot of moaning to himself about how he wasn’t worth having his feelings. I wish she made him more interesting instead and slipped in the confidence issues more subtly. His background had more potential.
