From USA Today and #1 Amazon Bestselling author Pippa Grant comes a hilarious romcom about an unforgettable revenge date between a famous British single dad and a small-town girl who had to grow up too fast…

I might be the only person not obsessed with Simon Luckwood, Hollywood's hottest leading man and the newest part-time resident of my little hometown.

I don’t trust the way he’s always smiling. No one smiles that much.

And I’m clearly missing something, because I don’t get why the character Simon played on his weird hit TV show is so popular.

But revenge is a dish best served cold, just like the dishes on the menu at the restaurant my ex stole from me. So, when Simon feels guilty enough about his twin teenage boys accidentally getting me arrested that he wants to take me out on an apology date?

I see a perfect opportunity to get mine.

One night, one date, one very loud public scene at my ex’s grand opening, and then I can wash my hands of men forever.

That’s exactly how it has to go. Because my life can’t handle one more plot twist…

The Spite Date is a hilariously fun single dad romance featuring a golden retriever celebrity who needs to get out of his own way, a woman trying to live her best life even if she’s not sure exactly how to do that, and a series of plans gone very, very wrong. It stands alone and comes with a sweetly satisfying happily ever after.

Pippa Grant wanted to write books, so she did.

Before she became a USA Today and #1 Amazon bestselling romantic comedy author, she was a young military spouse who got into writing as self-therapy. That happened around the time she discovered reading romance novels, and the two eventually merged into a career. Today, she has more than 30 knee-slapping Pippa Grant titles and nine published under the name Jamie Farrell.

When she’s not writing romantic comedies, she’s fumbling through being a mom, wife, and mountain woman, and sometimes tries to find hobbies. Her crowning achievement? Having impeccable timing for telling stories that will make people snort beverages out of their noses. Consider yourself warned.

I didn't quite know what to make of this book when I started it. It had a bit of a convoluted start and we jumped into a weird situation. But what would a RomCom be without a little chaos that is ripe for misunderstanding and awkward meet Cutes. And how about the hero's twin troublemakers getting the heroine thrown in jail to start things off with a bang!

I thought Simon was a loveable, if a big exasperated by his twins. He is also an actor and has a lot of attention that I don't think he ever imagined he would get. He was suitably charmed by Bea and I loved how he just wanted to be around her. He might have said it was to continue gaining info for his next writing project, but he was truly charmed by her.

Bea was such a hard worker who was down on her luck and getting arrested for tom-foolery is her last straw. She doesn't want anything to do with this sexy accented actor who keeps sniffing around, but sure enough, he starts to wiggle his way into her heart.

Overall, this was sweet, heart-warming, and I want to read more from this author.

This was narrated in Duet Style by Will Watt & Callie Dalton. They were fun, quirky, and sexy in their narration and I enjoyed their performances so much!

I love reading books by Pippa Grant. She is the rom-com queen and she wears that crown very well.

This book is hilarious as well as sweet, swoony, snarky, a little spicy, quirky, and full of heart. There's also a side of drama as well. It's a complete package.

Simon and Bea are fated mates. They're both dealing with current (and past) traumas that shapes their views of starting a relationship. Love wins in the end.

🎧🎧AUDIOBOOK REVIEW🎧🎧

outrageously FUN!! I don't think I have laughed & cried so much throughout one book in a very long time. AND, from the very very very beginning until the very very very last word, I was happy. No, I felt elated. That's better. The story had an air of contentment to it. Yes, it's a romantic comedy and yes, it had a good amount of #feels but thru it all it was a happy story. It had all the small town elements and shenanigans we all enjoy and Pippa's signature humor, that I honestly cannot go very long without consuming. The woman's word wizardry makes me happy :)

I didn't get to read an ARC on this story so I can't say for certain what I'm about to say is gospel, but I did get to listen to an ALC of this story and I will die on the hill of "listening to this story is the superior way to enjoy this story"! I said what I said. #fightme :) 🎤Will Watt & Callie Dalton🎤 took this already incredible story and just made it "Snap, Crackle and Pop" for the entire 14 hours! Every single second was a party in my ears. That doesn't happen often so pay attention!

That's it. That's all I have. Go forth and have a good time! DO IT

Well that was fun.
The rom com vibes were vibing!

Simon also has me wanting more British speaking MMCs 🤣

Bea, loved her burger bus situation.

We got single dad.
Teenage boys.
Humor and banter.
Protective brothers.

A town full of characters.

I liked how this wasn’t exactly predictable.
It had different elements that definitely set it apart.

This was my first Pippa Grant book and I’m definitely not opposed to reading more of hers.

After an incident with a food truck, a feisty food bus owner and a party gone wrong, said feisty food bus owner, Bea, ends up in jail. The reason she’s in jail…Simon Luckwood, or well his sons. Bea uses Simon’s guilt to his advantage and planes to use him to get revenge on her Ex…and so the spite date begins!

I absolutely adored the romantic comment vibes of this book. I was in a bit of a slump and this pulled me right out. I loved the Bea so much as an FMC, from her relationship with her brothers to her take no sh*t attitude. I absolutely loved. I’m gonna be honest at first I didn’t think I was gonna love Simon, but boy was I wrong. I loved Bae and Simon together. I loved the banter between them especially as it was brought into the spice. Their interactions were so genuine and believable. Every character was fantastic and I absolutely cannot wait for more!

I listened to the audio of this book as well and let me say I was comforted right away by Callie Dalton. Latte Darling is probably one of my most listened to audios, so I instantly felt comforted and a sense of familiarity with the character. Callie Dalton in combo with Will Watt was absolutely perfect. I loved the distinct characters and personalities that came through. Hearing the banter was just as good as reading it! Definitely a great read whether it’s your eyes or ears!

Just Okay For Me

Am I getting more picky with my reading?
Am I becoming jaded with authors I’ve adored?
Has this author’s more recent books been lacking what her earlier books contained?
Has her writing taken a path away from romcom without being advertised that it has?

I’ve read all of Pippa Grant’s books to date. I’ve adored her earlier series (Thrusters, Fireballs, Girl Band, etc), but when I’ver read her most recent releases (after her Tickled in Pink series), they’ve just fallen flat for me and I am not sure why. I see others raving about her newest releases and I’m not connecting in the same way I did with her earlier works. I laughed when Zeus failed in his attempts to get Joey’s attention, all the pranks between the Rock siblings, glitter bombs, and even the baseball superstitions. The humor was entwined with the stories that had me falling in love with characters and rereading them numerous times.

I think my disappointment may be that I’m expecting the same humorous stories with these new characters, based on what I see in the author’s group and social media posts, but it’s not there. These are more serious story lines and if there are humorous parts, I’m not seeing it. I didn’t feel any chemistry between the characters as I read either. Their attraction was written in words, but I didn’t feel like they had a spark as I was reading.

I’m still going to read Pippa Grant’s future stories, but I guess I need to get into a different mindset before I start. Maybe trying to read her next release as if she’s a new to me author will help. I need to try something different next time, because this story was almost a DNF for me. The only reason it wasn’t is because it’s a Pippa book.

First of al, thank you Pippa for the ARC 🙏🏼

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice 🌶️🌶️
Main tropes :
-Famous actor / Single dad
-Small town girl / entrepreneur chef
-Found family

Micro trope :
- Phone sex

Overall this was a cute and fun time. It’s your typical rom com. While it wasn’t perfect, the found family aspect and the banter was chef’s kiss.

My opinions and Spoilers after this *****

My main issues were

1. I understand that she introduced some characters for what I assume will be the next book but, some side characters storyline didn’t add anything to this book and could have been edited out. Daphne’s sister boy trouble should not have been in this book.

2. Murder mystery dinners are confusing when you’re in one so when you try to follow a fake one in a book, hella confusing. I didn’t enjoy that part at all and I just read quickly through most of it

3. I can’t stand third act drama/breakup and even less when it could have been fixed with just a talk. Beatrice had issues with the fact Simon wrote something inspired by her life ? It’s flattering no ? Just have the full picture before going drama queen on him. Let him talk and see for yourself. You’re supposed to be an adult.

4. I wanted more grovelling. If you’re to go the predictable way, mine as well go all out and make them grovel to one another. After calming down she just realized he wasn’t that bad and was about to jump into his arms when he was making his grand gesture.. I wanted more !

5. The ex situation was… a lot. He stole your dream and your money and you just let him be ? I don’t think so. And then he wanted to get back with her while insulting her ? I don’t get it at all.

This would have been a 4 ⭐️ if there wasn’t a third act breakup and more spice.

This was such a light, silly, and overtly romantic rom-com! It was one of those books where some things seem ridiculous but it all just works in the end. I will say that I was a little lost for a while as this was my first Pippa Grant book and I think some of these characters may have connections to other series of hers, but I was eventually able to catch on! Overall a fun lighthearted read!

This was a good read and has Pippa’s usual fun voice in it. It was relatively low spice (almost closed door) with two smart, immensely likable and mature characters. I found the romance lacking a little and the story felt a bit disjointed to me.

🙋🏻‍♂️Simon Luckwood is a 30ish yr old British actor and single father to twin teenage boys. He is lovely, very smiley, and charming, but harboring pain from his childhood where he felt largely ignored and unloved by his two parents who blamed him for their multiple affairs.
🙋🏻‍♀️Beatrice Best raised her three brothers after her parents died in a house fire. She’s a bit lost and is not sure what to do with her life. She’s had multiple partners use her and then breakup, including her most recent, Jake. She’s funny, down to earth, and genuinely kind hearted.
💔Third act breakup. This was easy to see from almost the first chapter and that annoyed me. It was completely unnecessary.
🗣️Communication. There are multiple points of non-communication. In the beginning with the spite date and along with Simon and his script.
🫣 OM/OW: Simon hasn’t had a real relationship really ever. He’s had sex partners but he’s not portrayed as a player at all. The only other woman is the mother of his children and they are close friends. Bea’s ex Jake is annoying but doesn’t impact our two MCs.
🏡. Found family: a lovely cast of side characters. Her crazy adult brothers, his twin boys, his ex Lana, the terrible ex Jake and his family. Her best friend, Daphne.
🌶️ Spice - this is low spice. They are constantly interrupted or unable to be together bc of kids/family. There is basically one scene at around 50%.
🥰 Dual POV; HEA. Marriage in epilogue.

Simon is in Bea’s hometown for the summer to take care of his boys while his ex, their mom, is dealing with getting her ill mother care.

They meet when a misunderstanding over her burger food truck and trespassing lands her in jail. He apologies, she gets him to agree to go with her to her exs restaurant opening and sparks and misunderstandings fly from there.

So the tension in this story comes from these two getting to know each other and deciding how serious they want to be. I guess? But it’s also that she feels that she’s never really had time to find herself and what she wants to do outside her family. He also takes inspiration from her life story and starts writing a script without telling her. He is only recently famous after starring in a show that he wrote.

It’s a fun story filled with banter and good characters - and if you don’t care much about the romance, it’s a good read.

Spoiler: ‼️

I do care about the romance and it bothered me that the main reason that Simon is so infatuated with her is because of the way she takes care of her family. I don’t know. I mean he can and should respect her for that, but it’s kind of painted as the main reason they’re together. Which is 🫠, to me. I want him to like her for her, as a person, not just bc she represents a family he never had.

I also really disliked that Bea kind of wound up just tagging on to his interests with screenwriting and/or the B&B (both of which came out of nowhere). The story ended without her having her own identity. Which sucks, frankly.

Also, where are all the small moments together and physical closeness? It’s very sparse.

Thank you to The Smuthood and Pippa Grant for the opportunity to read and review this eARC! I’ve never read any of Grant’s books but after this I will definitely be checking out her other series!

The Spite Date follows Bea, who at the age of 19 became the sole caretaker of her 3 brothers after her parents died in a fire. Now with all 3 grown up and moving on, she’s left wondering what to do with her life. Her dreams of owning a restaurant fizzled out when her ex stole it from under her, and her burger bus isn’t bringing in the success she wants. Add to that an unfair arrest due to the annoying celebrity and his kids that have moved to town, has her feeling pretty frustrated.
So when Simon (evil celebrity) agrees to take her on a date that may or may not involve some revenge on her ex, Bea finds herself more than enjoying this British actor’s company. But their time together is short and life has a way of getting in the way, something Bea is ever familiar with.

This book was so freaking fun. I didn’t know I was missing drunk British actor’s inner thoughts in a book but now I’m going to want that in everything I read. Not only was it entertaining but the romance overall was well done. Not over the top, no insta love, just real people coming to terms with the fact that they are able to be loved. Sometimes by the people they least expect.
Also, Ever After movie mention had this highly rated in an instant. One of my all time favourite movies, especially because of the “she saves herself” message. Ugh my heart.
I loved all the side characters and I really hope to see more of them in future books, especially with the potential sneak peeks we got of Daphne and her secret adventures.

Truly a phenomenal rom com!

What to Expect:
- Small Town
- Golden Retriever MMC
- British Single Dad
- Opposites Attract
- Hilarious Banter
- Revenge/Spite Date
- Celebrity Romance
- Found Family
- Slow Burn
- Dual 1st Person POV
- Duet Narration

My Thoughts:
The Spite Date is fun, laugh-out-loud funny, and has over-the-top shenanigans that hooked me from the start. After Simon mistakenly has Bea arrested, he makes it up to her by taking her on a “spite date” to the grand opening of her ex’s new restaurant. Naturally, it’s a total disaster and hilariously chaotic. I loved Bea and Simon so much! They had such amazing chemistry and the best banter. I couldn't help but root for them. I loved the family dynamics in this story. Bea's brothers were super protective, and Simon's twins definitely gave us some entertaining moments. The interactions with everyone had me laughing so hard. I loved watching Bea and Simon connect through their shared experiences of raising kids. The Spite Date is a lighthearted, feel-good rom-com with the perfect balance of laughs, swoon, and heart.

Narration:
Callie Dalton and Will Watt perform this audiobook in duet, and they absolutely nailed it. They were the perfect voices for Bea and Simon and brought them to life in the best way. The emotion was on point, and comedic timing was flawless. Callie embodied Bea's sass, quirkiness, and witty humor, while also showing her vulnerability and growth as she realized her own worth. I loved how Will captured Simon’s charm and humor, and his accent was addictive. He also juggled multiple male characters, from the twins to Bea’s brothers, without ever losing the flow. Callie and Will's performances elevated my experience and made this audiobook unputdownable.

Thanks to Pippa Grant, One Night Stand Studios, and The Smuthood PR for the review opportunity. Opinions expressed are my own.

ARC review

I loooooved the chaos in this book!
This was such a nice start with a lot of things happening at the same time and a lot of characters being introduced.
But it didn't feel like a lot, it felt like someones life instead of a book.

The further you get into the story, the more the chaos calms down as do both the FMC and the MMC. They find their way alongside each other without sacrificing themselves and their character.
The side characters made me laugh out loud a lot!

This could have been a solid 4 star read, but along the way there were little things mentioned A LOT but never explained.
The FMC has a fear of tiny spaces and explains it off page to the MMC but as a reader I would have liked to know, especially since the MMC mentions it as; she has every right to be.
The FMC best friend got cut off from her family fortune which get mentions about every chapter, but never told why. Which would have been fine, but trust the reader to remember it after 3 times.

Still a good and entertaining read!

The Spite Date by Pippa Grant was an absolute delight from start to finish! Omg, I loved this story so much. The banter between Simon and Bea had me grinning nonstop, and the chemistry between them was the perfect mix of heart, heat, and humor. Pippa Grant nailed the small-town charm and witty tension that kept me hooked all the way through.

The narration was fabulous—the voices brought these characters to life in such an engaging way that I didn’t want to press pause. I truly felt every emotion, every laugh, and every swoony moment.

Simon and Bea completely stole my heart, and I loved watching their dynamic unfold. If you’re a fan of smart, funny, and deeply romantic rom-coms, I highly recommend picking this one up. It’s easily a new favorite!

Pippa’s books are branded with humor and cozy small town vibes. This one was no exception.

I loved meeting our new friends and the cast of side characters. Daphne? The best friend a girl can have

Bea and Simon were precious together. I loved that they were honest about their intentions — both before and after they gave in to their feelings. Bea’s nurturing instincts couldn’t be suppressed and neither could Simon’s acceptance of the affection he’d long lacked.

This book was fun. It was quirky. It was light. It had depth. Highly recommend it if you enjoy

🍔 single dad

Hilarious, Sweet, & Spicy (aka iconic Pippa)

Like every other book I’ve read from Pippa Grant, this one was a win! The found family and birth family relationships were brilliant. Add in the way Pippa wrote rambunctious teenagers and crazy hijinks had me snort laughing the whole way through.

🎧 Oh, and did I mention the audio 🫠. I downloaded from KU so I snagged that audiobook for $5 ($winning$) and then settled in to enjoy the English accent of the MMC while tandem reading this puppy!

Per Pippa Grant fashion this book had me actually laughing out loud. The audiobook narrators did an AMAZING job. If you’re wanting a light hearted fun book then look no further.

This book was full of hilarious side characters, Beas brothers & Simons sons really stole the show. Simons son’s antics made me crack up every single time. This book is the perfect example of how I think a romcom single dad trope should be written!

Bea is trying to find herself after having to step in when her parents died for her younger brothers. They’re grown now but she doesn’t know what she wants to do in life.
Simons career has taken off but he’s trying to be the best coparent and father to his twin sons while managing his new celebrity status.
Neither of them are looking for love but they both seem to casually gravitate towards each other and form a friendship that leads to a spicy fun relationship.

This book has a quirky small town, with rivalry between Bea and her exes family which leads to fun antics by all characters (shirtless burgers anyone?).

If you love: a fake date for revenge, single dad, small town, an FMC whos finding herself, a large cast of characters, then please pick this one up!
I can’t wait to see whose book is next in this series!

Thank you so much Pippa Grant for the ALC and ARC of this book🖤

The Spite Date by Pippa Grant was such a fun, laugh-out-loud read! Simon Luckwood, a famous actor and TV screenwriter, and Bea, a resilient woman who raised her brothers after losing her parents and now runs a burger bus, have the kind of meet-cute you don’t forget—he accidentally gets her arrested. From there, their banter is electric, their chemistry undeniable, and the chaos absolutely delightful.

Bea is still figuring out her path after an ex upended her plans to open her late father’s dream restaurant, while Simon is determined to write about her life (without exactly telling her why). What follows is enemies-to-lovers energy, hilarious antics, heartfelt moments, and a romance that sneaks up on you in the best way.

This was my first book by Pippa Grant, and it won’t be my last. If you’re a romcom fan or just need a lighthearted palate cleanser between heavier reads, The Spite Date is the perfect choice.

Thank you Pippa Grant and Smuthood Promotional Service for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Another 5 For Pippa!

I adore the way Pippa writes. It’s chaotic, it’s unhinged, it’s sweet, and all the other words. I always have a delightful time, and I wish I would have done the audio so I could hear Simon’s amazing accent. Both of them are flawed, and the third-act breakup is in classic Pippa style - which is to say it doesn’t exist and people communicate in a healthy way before we get to the spice!

I cannot wait to read Daphne’s story next!

The Spite Date is TOP TEIR, Rom-Com gold!

I got the amazing opportunity to listen the audio book and the narrators were perfectly casted and truly brought this story to life.

The audiobook is duet narration and so at any point the narrator needed to produce a few different voices and they executed it with precision!!

Now the story itself is full of so many beautiful moments. Some of the moments are absolutely hilarious, because come on getting locked in the bathroom of your ex boyfriends new restaurant is going to lead to some laughs. Then there were moments where your heart was in your throat and you wanted to cry.

Simon and Bea were so easy to connect with and relate too. I instantly loved these characters and so many side characters that captured my heart. I can not wait for what is to come because this community is amazing and I am not done with these big hearted, loud mouthed, charming bunch!

Thank you so much Pippa Grant for sending me this ARC!

The Spite Date is a standalone Romantic Comedy from one of my favourite rom-com authors and Pippa really outdid herself with this one, I loved all the characters and laughed out loud so many times at their shenanigans and swooned at the beautiful romance, I had so much fun reading it and already can’t wait for Pippa’s next book.

Simon is a famous actor raising his twin teenager sons with his ex turned best friend. When his sons’ antics have Bea, a local burger bus owner, arrested, he agrees to a date with her, soon realizing it’s a spite date to get revenge on Bea’s duplicitous ex, but with how much fun they have on the date they can’t deny the attraction between them but with the twins’s and Bea’s brothers’s antics, Simon using Bea’s life story as his next show’s screenplay and planning to leave in a few months, they need to decide whether they want to give in to their growing feelings.

This book was just pure perfection and fun from the first to the last page. I absolutely adored all the characters, Bea was really strong after everything she went through in life and her relationship with all her brothers was so beautiful, I loved seeing her finding happiness and her HEA because she really deserved that. Simon was everything I hoped for: British, a golden retriever and a single dad of teenagers, he definitely wasn’t perfect and his awkwardness at times was cute, but he always did his best and his easygoing attitude made me fall for him fast. Bea and Simon are the definition of opposites attract and I loved seeing them slowly fall for each other, they definitely didn’t get off on the right foot, but I could see the connection between them from their first meeting and their first using each other then friends with benefits phase turning into love was beautiful to watch, they were perfect for each other and I hope we will get to see them again. I also loved Bea’s brothers, Simon’s sons, his ex and Daphne, Bea’s best friend, they were all amazing and hilarious and made such an incredible, big family, I loved all their scenes together and laughed out loud many times at their antics.

The Spite Date is an amazing rom-com that I really loved and had a lot of fun reading, I definitely recommend to everyone.

I got this book as a physical arc sign up and I was grateful to have gotten this book. If you like single dad stories with drama, comedy, steamy romance, small town vibes, some betrayal, family tragic loss, and family love. You should read, it's one I do recommend. Bea had so many things that have been through her. She lost her parents in a fire, she raised her 3 brothers, her ex Jake not only just dumped her but took her ideas and dreams from her, and the worst of all is his whole family was harassing her. Simon who is a famous actor and screen writer, had a famous life, friends with the mother of his children, two teenage boys he was trying to raise, and two horrible parents. When Bea got accidentally arrested for trespassing on someone's property. She had proof of purchase for the delivery which was even funnier when Simon found out what happened. They both had a funny way of meeting and they both used each other. She used him for a spite date at her ex's restaurant and He wrote a story about her life. I found it sweet when it came to meals, both their families ate together. Their plan was not to fall in love but ended up doing it. There are so many funny scenes I would not describe but they were worth reading . Simon was very respectful about not posting the play he wrote the editors because he hurt Bea. I loved his romantic gesture for buying the abandoned movie theater and playing her favorite movie Ever After. And bea standing up to Simon's parents and her ex they both live their happy ending. The epilogues in the story are the answers you will be looking for in the sequel you probably will ask for. I enjoyed this book so much. I hope to read more.

There is something special about starting a new Pippa Grant book and series! 💕

THOUGHTS 💭
🍔 I loved these funny, flawed, real characters who question themselves, who have highs and lows, and who seek spiteful revenge on those who wronged them.
🍔 One of the shared pieces of connection between our MCs is that they have both raised/or are raising teenage boys. And the support that Bea gives Simon as he attempts to parent well, even before she really knew him, was so sweet.
🍔 The people Bea surrounds herself with are fantastic and supportive and loving. They make this small town romance fun and funny and I can’t wait to see more of them in the rest of the series!
🍔 Simon has some of the most wonderfully swoony lines. Everything about him, from his constant smile to his grand gestures and even his lactose intolerance, had me falling for him.
🍔 Simon’s twin boys are a hilarious part of this story. They help humanize our MMC, bring so much joy and laughter to the story, and are just great additions to the book.
🍔 THE EPILOGUE!! What a sweet ending to this couple’s story.
🎧 I LOVE duet narration and it was done so well in this book!
🎧 I actually thought there were two male narrators - one with an accent and one without. Bravo, Will Watt!

Thanks so much to Pippa Grant for the ARC and ALC of this book!

Oh gosh! This book was so funny, sweet, heartwarming and did fabulous things to my eardrums😄

What starts out as a revenge ( Bea ) and apology ( Simon ) date turns out to be something more than any of our MC's could have bargained for!

Simon is British, a celebrity and also a single dad to two mischievous but sweet teenaged sons.

I really loved his role as dad and co-parent. Always such a ray of sunshine, who tends to speak his silly mind when he's had a little too much to sip. So cute😄 He was not expecting to fall for Bea but ends up being so, soooo smitten! I loved it!

Bea has raised her 3 brothers who are naturally very protective of her. She's just out of a worthless relationship and trying to put her focus and energy on herself for a change and her burger bus. So when Simon comes into her life with his boys she just doesn't know what to do with that.

The audiobook is in Duet so that is always a plus and the narrating! Oh my gosh, the narrating was awesome! Do you love, love love British accents?? Well, put this on your list because honestly... It was so good by Will Watt
an Callie Dalton also shone✨️

I try to keep my reviews mid-size but there's really soo much to tell😅

💯 Recommend for an funny, sweet and heartwarming read/listen. It's not super spicy but still a really great book that will have you smiling, laughing and saying awww...

Many thanks to author Pippa Grant and The Smuthood for the ALC 💖

Pippa Grant does it again with another over the top hilariously good and swoon worthy story! This book was packed full of shenanigans.

Simon and Bea did not start off on the right foot when he had her arrested by mistake. So to apologize, he agrees to take her on a date. Well, the date is to a grand opening to her ex boyfriends new restaurant and it’s a complete disaster where she ends up stuck in a bathroom he has to break down the door and he ends up drunk by the end of the night. It was a complete mess and hilarious. The connection between Simon and Bea continue to grow throughout the story and you cant help but fall in love with the two of them. Simon is a golden retriever, British actor who is always so happy. And Bea is the one who takes care of everyone else, she raised her brothers after they lost their parents. But she is done letting people take advantage of her.

And can we talk about the families…her brothers, they were so protective over her. Had me cracking up! And Simon’s sons, they were a handful and a half, but also hilarious. I couldn’t stop laughing.

Will and Callie were the perfect narrators for this book. They gave these characters the life they deserved and perfected it. I was laughing so hard and the swoon moments were perfection!

This is easily one of my favorite romcoms I’vxe read in 2025.

The author has such an amazing talent for writing books that are humorous but also layered with emotion that keeps the reader invested in the story I til the very end.

Bea is strong, resilient, and incredibly. dedicated to the people she loves. Simon, Hollywood’s golden boy, is charming but also trying to juggle raising twin teenage boys while navigating his complicated family situation. Both carry trauma from their pasts, and watching them find comfort and strength in each other was heartfelt and rewarding. Their personalities couldn’t seem more different, but together they just work.

This book had me laughing one moment and swooning the next. It’s filled with humor, charm, love, and the kind of banter that makes you grin while you read. Bea and Simon’s connection is unique yet also genuine.i loved watching their connection grow.

I especially loved the found family aspect. Bea has already created her own close family ubit and through her, Simon learns how to build that same bond with his boys. Seeing their families blend together so seamlessly was both amazing.

📖”Some distant part of me realizes this is monumentous — monumental? Momentous? Good god, words are stvpid”

You know those books where you just can’t find anything you don’t absolutely adore? This is one of such books. I adored everything: the plot, the characters, the tension, the swooning, the groveling, the backstories, the supporting cast... you name it, I loved it.

I also LOVED how it made me smile and laugh, frown and be deeply sad for them… and just as happy. And back to laughing. Because if you ever read Pippa Grant you know you’re in it for some series fun stuff. I also adored how this is so well intertwined with other books she has written before and yet it stands so perfectly alone.

I listened to this book and once again Pippa Grant found the PERFECT narrators to bring her story to life. I’m slowly becoming 100% obsessed with Pippa Grant’s audiobooks and by slowly I mean instantly and by becoming I mean I’m so there already. Will Watt & Callie Dalton brought so much life, so much substance and feeling to these characters that I’m so grateful I got to experience The Spite Date in that way.
