Detective Darren Clovis thought the nightmare was over. After the FBI took over the ongoing investigation into the Andromeda Killings - grotesque murders tied to a shadowy online forum - he believed he could now focus on his wife, Clara, and newborn son, Jackson. But when a federal agent reaches out in secret, Darren finds himself trapped in the chaos he swore to avoid, convinced that only he could discover the missing link that binds them together.
Fueled by his desire to prove himself to those that doubt him, Special Agent Marcus Winslow is left chasing ghosts - killers who strike without warning, leaving behind cryptic clues and no clear connection. Each murder fuels a growing online army of loyal fanatics, obsessed with the philosophy of purpose through destruction/elimination.
As bodies pile up and hints hide in plain sight, Darren must decide how far he's willing to stray from his family; each step away from them moves them closer to the danger.
In Sorrow Flaw Hotel, obsession, deception, and purpose collide in a race against an enemy who is both in their grasp and unable to be found.
The second book in the Dead Manor series follows Detective Darren Clovis after he successfully helped out on "solving" the cold case Andromeda Killings as he settles into family life with his wife Clara and his newborn son Jackson. As Darren adjusts to being a father, he is drawn back into the case despite his reluctance and his promises to his wife. This book delves deeper into Darren and Clara and has intense character development of both of these characters as well as a LT. I found the writing to be crisp and flowed easily between the pages. I was immersed in the story, trying to follow along with the clues and although I was suspicious right away of one of the characters, I still can’t figure out exactly how he/she plays into this whole ordeal! I guess Book 3 will answer my questions! If you like an immersive story that is unusual, suspenseful and a plot that you won’t be able to figure out, I highly recommend giving this series a read! I received an advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.
