This is one of my favorite read of the year. It met all the requirements I need for a great story. It had romance, it had a great story, it had character development and it ended happily. I am truly satisfied!

We met the heroine, Siobhan “Sugar” Malloy in book 1 of the Sugar and Spice series. The 35 yr old was best friends with Nadia Spice and co-owner of their café. We knew Siobhan had some struggles in her life, but in this book Siobhan’s story was laid bare.
Siobhan’s life was finally stable and somewhat drama free when Charlie O’Halloran came into her café to deliver a package. Charlie was the owner of Crimson Bay Couriers and he saw a way that Siobhan could improve the visibility of the café. He also had selfish motivates for offering his services. He had been mesmerized by Siobhan and couldn’t figure out how to get her attention. When Charlie made his move he found a willing but cautious woman. They embarked on a casual affair but as things got serious, both Charlie and Siobhan had to come clean about some considerable baggage from their past. Was their new affection strong enough to shoulder the weight?

What I absolutely love about this story and this series is just how the author balances a heavy storyline with really steamy sex scenes. At first glance, one would think this novel is just a simple erotica. However, it has a complex plot with multidimensional characters and a continued theme about never giving up. It was an emotional read at times and elicited some chuckles at others. I am not going to lie, I did have to fan myself at certain scenes, but they were tastefully done.
I was so impressed with both Charlie and Siobhan because life had dealt them a rough hand, but they met their challenges with dignity and strength. Both characters had little support until the later part in their lives but they managed to overcome huge hurdles to arrive at their current place of hopefulness. I enjoyed how Charlie’s family fought for his happiness as well as his capacity of love. He was my favorite character in this book and I just adored him. I also loved Siobhan’s girlfriends because they were more like a family unit. They were supportive of Siobhan when they needed to be and they challenged her when she needed a kick in the pants. I just enjoyed the whole ride as I listened to this audiobook.

The book just starts off plain HOT! Charlie knows what he wants as is going after it. He wants Siobhan. Once he's able to set his plan in motion he does, and that's by giving her a business proposition but he doesn't stop there. He makes is very clear what his intentions are outside of the business he wants to help her with.

There are so many facets to these characters. Siobhan is a small business owner/burlesque performer. She has been through some hardships in her past and is throwing most of her energy into those two things, until Charlie comes into the picture. Charlie is also a business owner with a very good head on his shoulders. He sees Siobhan and wants to get her into his bed, and he succeeds. It's starts off casual and becomes something much more, the only problem is that they are both keeping secrets. It just seems like one blow after another for these two, but they're both survivors and I loved seeing them come out victors.

There is so much sexiness in this book I just can't even! Charlie and Siobhan have this intense, earth shattering chemistry. Charlie is so sweet and tender with Siobhan while showing his unending support and it made me teary eyed. I also love all of the other characters! All of Siobhan's girlfriends were such a tight knit group.

There were many twists and turns, combined with the hot and heavy sexy time, and the loving characters made this a perfect read!

Sugar and spice and all things nice, right? Well, maybe not all things nice. Because some of the things in Sugar were dirty. Kinky. Sweet. And some were a little sad. But all of them made this reading experience a very nice one…

Siobhan Malloy is not in the market for love. The café owner, and hobbyist Burlesque dancer, is in her mid-thirties and still recovering from the mistakes that changed everything for her when Charlie O’Halloran barrels into her life. He brings excitement, passion—and maybe even dreams of the future—but even with their successful business and personal relationship growing, Siobhan can't escape her past—or his. Especially not when it comes crashing into their present, and threatens everything…

Sugar was just another book for me when I started reading. Don’t get me wrong, it was good—engaging, with an interesting hook, fun characters and a lot of thigh-clenchingly good, panty-melting moments (that first dance, though…WHOA!) But I wasn't exactly wowed by it; I liked it, but didn't love it. I enjoyed it, but didn't feel like I couldn't put it down. The writing was good—I never struggled with the story, despite not having read book one in this series— and the ‘Bitch Talk’ ladies all felt personable and real. And Charlie? Well, Charlie was a dirty, kinky delight. And still…I didn't feel blown away—more like, happily cruising through the story.

But then…there was a small ‘twist’—nothing major, but I loved that moment. It was clever, the way the author foreshadowed it without giving anything away. It was smart, the way she handled the revelation and the characters’ reactions to it. It was unexpected and I was impressed by it. It elevated the entire reading experience for me, and ensured I'll look out for more of this series in the future. So yes, Sugar had spice and was definitely nice. Very nice, indeed. ~ Beth, 4 stars

Siobhan is a bakery co-owner by day and a burlesque dancer by night. She’s also a recovering addict and doesn’t think her life has any room in it for love, so when Charlie, who runs a marketing company, starts courting both her business and her heart, she’s not having it, especially because she can tell he’s a lot younger than she is. Charlie has his own reasons to avoid commitment, but he’s totally pulled in by Siobhan’s retro, rockabilly vibe. (Seriously, I’d have read this book for the descriptions of her outfits alone. Hashtag pasties.) Their chemistry is explosive, but will that be enough to sustain them once the honeymoon phase is over and family drama from both sides enters the mix? This has to be one of the most criminally underrated series ever. It’s super sultry but doesn’t gloss over the serious issues it brings up. I loved how even though Siobhan has made terrible choices in the past, the book is about her in recovery, having taken responsibility for her mistakes and built her life back up, forming a tight-knit friend group and a successful business. I really appreciate a hard-won HEA, and Siobhan’s is definitely that. (Start with Spice if you haven’t read that one yet!)

"Sugar" is book two in the "Sugar and Spice" series by Seressia Glass. Siobhan (also known as Sugar) has lived a troubled life and lost everything. She has found friends who are helping her overcome her past and letting her know she is a wonderful person. Siobhan is co-owners with Nadia of a bakery called Sugar and Spice. While at work, a younger man, Charlie, comes in and falls head over heels for Siobhan. He is having a hard time convincing Sugar that she is enough for him. I enjoyed the spiciness of this story. I also enjoyed the back story of Siobhan and her addiction. The ending of the story made me so happy for both Siobhan and Charlie. Both of their characters were so well written and went through so much to get the ending they both deserved.

This book is definitely spicy. Siobhan gets a surprise when she is pursued by Charlie. They both have pasts that they are continue to deal with. Siobhan is a strong women who still has insecurities like most of us. I like that Charlie accepts and appreciates Siobhan. I enjoyed the characters and like that this book gives me some updates on the characters who were in book one.

My Review:
Glass had me at burlesque. I really wish more authors explored the theme because I am such a big fan of it. We get to see sexy dancing which is an epic scene I did hope to get more of it. Sugar was a fun read with plenty of friendship and romance that entertained me better than Spice did. Yay for stepping out and going big with it this time around.

Review of Sugar by Seressia Glass -*****5Stars*****

I received a copy of this book for an honest review on behalf of THE BOOK NUTS REVIEWERS

I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Seressia Glass. Having not previously read the companion book "Spice" I thought that I may struggle with character references but Seressia has made this a book you can comfortably read as a stand alone. Having now read Sugar, I will now read Spice because I fell hard for her wonderful flawed characters.

Siobhan “Sugar” Malloy, co-owner of Sugar and Spice Café and part-time burlesque dancer, believes that her chance at love has passed her by after her family systematically dismantled her relationships with her parents, husband and young daughter.

Charlie O’Halloran is the young business entrepreneur who sets out to not only capture Siobhan's business but steal her heart as well. Soon they embark on a steamy affair, and Siobhan finds herself making up for lost time when it comes to family.

I completely fell in love with Charlie and Siobhan and found myself reading late into the night just to see what lay ahead for them.

Highly recommended for readers who love a passionate, intimate, heartwarming and oh so sexy story, touching on many real life situations and circumstances.

I just finished Sugar and it was a good read
This is apart of the Sugar and Spice series and could be read as a stand alone. This is Siobhan and Charlie's story. They are both work driven and have had things happen in their past to make them gun shy about relationships but they can't help themselves. They both have secrets and when they come to light will they be able to overcome them?

It was a good read. Storyline easy to follow, had some things happen that I expected and some things I didn't, either way a joy to read. I liked the characters. Thought that they have good depth, sexy chemistry. I also liked the secondary characters. I can't wait to see what she would come up with next.

- Band 2: Sugar & Spice – Wildes Verlangen

- Band 3: Sugar & Spice – Entfesselte Begierde

Dies beeinflusst allerdings in keinster Weise meine Meinung.

===========================

Klappentext:

===========================

Achtung Spoilergefahr!!!

===========================

===========================

Mein Fazit:

Was die erotischen Szenen angeht.

This is the 2nd book in a series. This story focuses on Siobhan "Sugar" Malloy co-owner of Sugar & Spice Café. What I really liked about the book is the friendship between Sugar, Nadia, Vanessa and Audie and the Bitch Talk sessions. I am always a fan of really good female relationships in books and I will always heap tons and tons of praise. The thing that annoyed me the most was that Siobhan is 35 years old and they kept bring up her age like she was super old and decrepit. If 35 is old I must be ancient.

Siobhan is a recovering drug addict. She has spent the last 4 years sober and making her business a success. She has an awful relationship with her parents, daughter and ex-husband; she feels resigned to punish herself for her past misdeeds.

One day a man named Charlie O'Halloran walks into the café delivering flowers to Nadia. He finds Siobhan the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. He wants to get to know her. Siobhan finds him attractive as well but doesn't wasn't to get involved in a relationship. They agree to be friends with benefits but Charlie wants more. Siobhan is hesitant because of her past drug addiction and their age difference. They start to put those barriers aside and the relationship starts to grow. Siobhan learns that Charlie's is taking care of his 18 year old sister and 2 younger brothers; Charlie learns that Siobhan has an 18 year old daughter who hates her. Again the past starts to interfere with their lives but they finally get past it and look forward to the future.

Sexy times in this book are great!!

I look forward to reading the third book Naughty.

Sioban is a 35yo recovering drug addict, part owner of the sugar and spice cafe and burlesque dancer with the crimson bay bombshells.
Charlie is a young marketing specialist that is responsible for his 3 younger siblings. He told sioban that he is 30yo. Both of them are not looking for a long term relationship so they begin a steamy explosive affair. Until the past catches up to them with the resurrection of siobans estranged daughter and siobans drug abuse past coming back to haunt her.

This book touched on a few good points and I have to give the author props for that. Drug addiction is not an easy thing to battle and I must commend sioban for trying her utmost best to stay clean now. She has support group in the form of her friends to help her. The age difference between her and Charlie is also another good point. Too many times, people are worried about age especially when it's an older woman with a younger man. Age is just a number.
Charlie had to take on a lot of responsibility when his parents died, looking after his siblings, making sure there is food on the table, a roof over their heads. He put his wants and needs on the back burner to take care of them.
All of these are very good elements that make this story tick. Not to forget the explosive chemistry and sex. A great read!

Alles in allem einfach unbeschreiblich!

I'm not a fan of kids as plot moppets in romance, but they really worked for me here. Siobhan's complex and pained relationship with her daughter and parents was heartbreakingly raw. But Charlie's siblings were just as refreshingly real in their love and support. Maybe Siobhan and Charlie don't get a picture perfect HEA, but it was one that fit them.

Maybe I’m too harsh but this was not my cup of tea. Too much spice, not enough substance. Strange new plot points 1/2 way through. Some may enjoy this but I did not.

Cougars and Couriers: SUGAR by Seressia Glass
http://fangswandsandfairydust.com/201...

It’s “Sugar’s” turn to find love in the second book in this steamy series. The the first book had some BDSM but this one doesn’t.

It seems like last week’s theme was older brothers who raise their siblings. Weird.

In this book, a younger man falls for a woman nine years his senior. Siobhan, cafe co-owner, is recovering from addiction to pain killers washed down with wine, and suffered from depression. Her biological family preferred her high because she was docile when she was out of it. But now they reject her because of that addiction. Her family is super toxic.

Siobhan seems very serious about her sobriety; she won’t even take advil or aspirin. But several times in the book she drinks wine. Since wine was actually part of her addiction I don’t get this at all.

The character is interestingly developed, complex — she’s not a prude in bed, or in her burlesque. But, as a result of her upbringing she does care what people will think of the age difference between her and Charlie.
Now Charlie is sweet, and fairly mature, but he has some secrets too. Siobhan has an alter ego, burlesque dancer, Sugar Malloy. And that alter ego is something else!

And two big things he keeps from Siobhan (not that big thing – he can’t keep that from her!) threaten to tear them apart.

Much of the book is about letting go of others:
things the characters have accomplished and are ready to set free,
things that are simmering happily and from which the character can step back a bit and relax into their own life, things that have to be given up because they are simply too toxic.

The author does a good job with the first two but I don’t think she goes far enough with the last. I felt she was holding back. I also wanted to see the female character stand up for herself with her parents.

The hook ups are hot with great chemistry between the characters. Lots of sexy times with creative office sex.

So I am kind of on the fence about this story, I liked the relationship, but I really didn’t like how her addiction was treated and how she only felt strong on the stage doing burlesque.

Sugar is the second in what I'm guessing will be at least a four book series by Seressia Glass (the first book being Spice). Siobhan "Sugar" Malloy is a thirty-five year-old co-owner of the Sugar and Spice Cafe, a part-time burlesque dancer, and a recovering addict. She's doing mostly okay with five years of sobriety, a group of supportive friends, and a successful business. All that's missing is a love interest. Enter Charlie O'Halloran.

The moment Charlie lays eyes on Siobhan he's hooked. With her rockabilly style and vintage clothes accentuating her curves in just the right way, how could he not? The two begin a steamy affair. Feelings come into play quickly and easily. The trouble is both of them have secrets holding them back from a happily ever after.

I liked Sugar a lot, maybe even more than Spice. Siobhan and Charlie have serious issues in their pasts and in their present to deal with and those issues are not solved easily or quickly. I also like that Siobhan is a woman with a past and experience, some good and bad. On the back of the book it says that Sugar is for mature audiences. I would agree, not just because of the sexy times between Siobhan but because it is they are both mature adults dealing with adult problems.

I received a free copy in order to evaluate and judge.

This is the story of Siobahn Malloy and Charlie O'Halloran. Siobhan is a recovering addict who owns a cafe called Sugar and Spice. She is also a burlesque dancer. She is estranged from her family and only has her friends to count on. Charlie owns OBS, a complete business services for small businesses. He became the guardian of his three siblings when their parents were tragically taken from them 8 years ago.

Their relationship is intense and sudden. The attraction is too powerful for them to stay away from each other. They both are hiding secrets and insecurities that could cripple their relationship. The story is very erotic and very explicit. There is no cliffhanger and has a HEA.

I am pleasantly surprised by this series and can't wait to read more. Siobhan (Sugar) is a recovering drug addict who opened a cafe/bakery with fellow recovering addict Nadia. Siobhan is pursued by businessman and entrepreneur, Charlie O'Halloran and the attraction sizzles. Both are hiding pieces of their past.

This came highly rated on Smart Bitches, Trashy Books and was such a disappointment. Yes, the sex scenes are balanced and yes, Siobhan's friends are super supportive. But, there was too much telling and not enough showing, and the dialogue felt stilted. The long paragraphs of the narrator's thoughts were quite boring.
