PRG Investigations #1

Two Truths and a Lie

Rate this book
One year ago, I became a missing person. I left everything behind—family, friends, school. It seemed like a good idea at the time. My only option, really, until I realized running from a police officer isn’t as easy as I thought it would be.

It’s been exactly three-hundred and sixty-five days since I left home, but I’m finally ready to take the step I should have taken a year ago. I’m done hiding. I’m done running. I’m going to take my life back.

It was supposed to be easy. A meeting with Jason Pierce, a private investigator, was set up for me. All I had to do was go to him, let him do his thing, and then I could go home, or so I thought.

That is, until I met Jason and things got … complicated.

FULL REVIEW:

The first thing that made me read this book was the blurb. I was so intrigued and so fucking ready to dive into a dark adventure of suspense, feels and romance. But after turning the last page of the novel I realized the only thing I liked was the blurb. Nothing else.

The whole execution of the book was such a boring mess, my teacup was way more entertaining.
description

At first, I was so into it and then all the male characters referred to our main girl as “baby” “babe” “darling” “baby girl”. And that for me was just a huge turn-off. I am sorry but words like that only work for me if it is between very well known or playful friends. My brain couldn’t stop translating them to Spanish and just imagining men calling me “nena” “bebe” made me pretty much throw up in my mouth. I acknowledge this is a personal taste, therefore I don’t know how this will be perceived by readers out there but I have a feeling I am not the only one feeling that way.

Then I realized I was pretty much thrown into the story and I wanted to know more about how our main girl escaped and why. Even after we got the reason I was left feeling so underwhelmed. I couldn’t connect with Elena at all, she didn’t even try to make me feel. And if you know my taste by now, feeling is my one requirement to love a book. She had great potential and backstory to be strong, dark, deep. But of course, I preferred her giggling and throwing laugh when she “certainly” didn’t feel like to after everything our main guy said, oh and cooking let’s not forget the salad cooking HUGE EYEROLL.

I don’t have much to say about our main guy apart from the fact he is the stupidest private investigator in the history of books, or at least that’s what I deduced after his job essentials were dumped in the back of his mind after seeing how cute and helpless our main girl looked. Excuse me unprofessional.
I get this was a romance so it was deduced somehow his job would be affected by his attraction towards Elena, but I didn’t feel any attraction whatsoever. I love a good build up, sexual tension, rooting for characters to be together even before they think about it. And this just killed it. First because the whole book timelapse was 1 month and a half and in the first 3 days our main characters were already touching and kissing and it was thrown as something inevitable. Couldn’t feel it at all.

The mystery and thrilling parts of the story were such a fog. Literally there nothing I was invested in, oh no way the inside of my teacup. I couldn’t even feel rage towards the bad guys because I didn’t connect at all. The “action” scenes or most nerve-racking parts you could say were so predictable and didn’t make me feel at all. Everyone could have died and I would be still sipping my tea with a dictionary reading mood, so bored. I want to rant more but the truth is I am already forgetting what happened. And this is not a good sign.

I truly don’t enjoy giving 1 stars, and it pains me way more when I need to do it to a very unknown book because for sure it affects somehow. But the fact there was nothing I could save from the story is as honest as saying my name is Sara, therefore I cannot lie to you all. This book is free on Amazon and you can for sure grab it and form your own opinion.

#2 READ-A-THON, Challenge: 📗SYNOPSIS. (this took me two whole days to finish, so boring)

Pre-reading thoughts:
This is actually FREE on Amazon right now!! Isn't lucky when you get the book you just added to your tbr for free?

I received this eARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
5 HUGE “Darlin’” Stars!

The Review:
I enjoyed this read so much. It was exciting, fun, steamy and thrilling. It starts off with a bit of action and it just keeps right on going with a solid, heartfelt story line, fantastic characters and wonderful dialogue, all with a side of angsts!

I loved it from beginning to end!

Story/Characters...
Elena Reed has been on the run for a long time. There’s a very real threat that’s following her and keeping her from staying in any one place for too long. But she’s tired of running and has decided to seek out help and try and fight to get back to a home she’s not seen in over a year.

Jason Peirce is a private investigator, who has major trust issues when it comes to his father. So when the shy, beautiful, vulnerable Elena shows up looking for help, sent by his father, he can’t help but believe it’s another set up.

”You know what the worst part of betrayal is, darlin’?” he asks.
I shake my head. What kind of question is that?
A damn good one, I suspect.
He reaches out, brushing his fingertips across my cheek. “It always comes from the people you love and trust.”

But as Jason and Elena dig deeper into Elena’s problem, he finds he’s worrying less about trust and more about Elena’s well being. Told in duel POV’s, this story was intense but sweet, with a really big helping of romance.

In that moment, I can see it. I know exactly who I am.
I’m a daughter, a sister, a woman.
I’m a fighter, a survivor. I’m strong.
I’m loved and I’m whole.
I am Elena Reed.

We get inside Elena’s head and find out what her life has been like over the past year and it’s heartbreaking. Running, being scared and not being able to find the help she so desperately needed wore her down. And when she started to fall in love with Jason, it was hesitant but all consuming. I loved her character. She was timid and on edge but she certainly had reason to be. And even with all this happening around her, she still had spark and a lust for life. Peace and safety were things that had been chased away by this threat that constantly loomed over her life and when Jason takes her case, she’s able to breath and relax and we see a playful, sweet side to her.

There’s just something about this girl, small, sweet looking, innocent smile. It makes you want to protect her, slay dragons and lay their heads at her feet.

Jason was yummy! He was hot, intense, sincere and also playful. Right from the start he saw Elena as someone he needed to help. And it was an instant attraction even with the bouts of mistrust. He and his partners, Wes and Vance, made an amazing team and I loved whenever they were in a scene together because they were more like family and brothers than partners.

And lets not forget about the sexy, swoon-worthy passion between Jason and Elena. The author totally brings the steam for these two. Wow!

The Wrap Up:
Everything about this read was great. From beginning to end I was captivated by the amazing writing and exciting story. The characters were relatable and fun to read. This is the first book in this series and it’s definitely a winner. The next book will be about another set of characters and I can’t wait for Vance's story!

I think Ashley has another award winning series on her hands, the characters were lovable and I enjoyed this book. I loved Jason, "Jesus effing Christ, I need to get my head checked. And a drink. I really need a drink." Being interrupted is something Jason hates especially when he was just about to get serious with his woman, "Jason glares at him, taking in the beer, the bag, and the huge grin on Wes's face. "What the eff do you think you're doing here?" With the way Jason acts you'd think the boy hates barbecues, "looks like we're having a effin' barbecue," Jason grumbles after a moment." Jason knows how to make his woman feel special:
"Welcoming you home," I say, as I move through the house, going for the stairs.
She laughs again, this time louder. "But my bags."
I grind her against me, letting her feel how much I want her. 'They can wait darlin'."
I can't wait for the next one in the series.

The moment the blurb for Two Truths and a Lie was released I knew I needed to read this book. I’ve never been so enticed by a premise of a book like I was for this one. Two Truths and a Lie went above and beyond my expectations, it was AMAZING!

My Opinion:
I enjoyed how this book was told in duel POV by Elena and Jason. It allowed me as a reader to grow a connection to both characters and intimately get inside their minds. It was quite an experience to read about their insecurities because they both tried like hell to hide their doubt from each other. In the end they failed miserably at hiding their feelings and ultimately fell for each other. No, it wasn’t insta-love… it built steadily, but at a believable pace. They shared a few ultra-sexy scenes together and I noticed that after I finished this book, I started to bite my lip a lot! (Darn you Elena!)

The last couple chapters of this book had me at the edge of my seat, it was intense! I was infatuated with the budding romance of Elena and Jason that I had forgotten that Elena was in some very real danger. Jason made us both feel protected… he’s really good at putting a woman’s mind to ease. However, everyone was shocked at what happened including me. Danger sneaks up on you when you least expect it and it hits hard. I won’t ruin anything for you; just prepare yourself for the craziness that goes down.

The humor in this story had me laughing out-loud. I couldn’t get enough of Jason, Elena, Vance, and Wes. I felt like I was part of their group and I felt so at home. This may be the first time in my reading history that I have felt such a strong connection with so many characters at one time. They are the most charming group of jokers that you will ever come across. I can’t wait to see what adventures the next book holds.

Here are two truths and a lie:
When I was younger I wanted to be a private investigator; the trio of private investigators in this book made my heart swoon; I will never read this book again.

Ha, so I totally suck at lying just like Elena. I wanted to re-read this book the same day I finished it. I can’t wait to see what the next case for the PRG Investigations will be. I suggest you kick back with a nice cold drink and read this book IMMEDIATELY. I couldn’t get enough of Jason, Vance, and Wes and I bet you will feel the exact same way!

This is one of the most engaging romantic suspense novels I’ve read this year. It has all of the angst of the NA genre while still remaining approachable to adult readers. Combine this with the action and suspense that one would expect from a romantic suspense and you have a real winner. The plot was fast paced and gripping, without racing to a predictable conclusion. The twists and turns along the way kept me on my toes without ever throwing anything at me out of left field.

They say a picture speaks louder than a thousand words and the picture painted by the body language in this novel tells you a million times more about the budding relationship between the main characters than any dialogue ever could. Stoyanoff develops it so vividly that you can’t help but picture it. It also gives a great deal of insight into these characters, what makes them tick, their intrinsic values, who they really are when the facades are all stripped away. Combine this with the fact Stoyanoff writes in a 1st person narrative that draws you in and allows you to connect with the main characters from the first sentence. Readers also get to experience both the hero & heroine’s perspectives, allowing us to experience both sides of the coin. To top that all off, these were actually individuals that I enjoyed getting to know, and wanted to get closer to. It was a fantastic experience.

This novel is definitely Stoyanoff’s best work to date. I’m on pins and needles trying to imagine how the rest of the series will evolve. I can’t wait for more!

4.5 masterful STARS!!!

WOW! What a wonderful ride that was! I literally just finished this book! It was SO good! Generally speaking, the characters do it for me. Their interactions, banter, what makes them tick, and how they deal with circumstances. And the secondary casts - their loyalty, the way they most often supply comedic relief during some of the more angsty situations. BUT … this book is provided with one hell of a storyline that twists and turns! With the amazing cast of characters - I loved every moment!!

I was sucked into this story. Like Ashley Stoyanoff played Jedi mind tricks - I never saw it coming! Seriously, the first line of the book … hook and line!

"I lost my life on my twentieth birthday."

That was what really caught me - that was the sinker! Elena was written masterfully! She was a character I was drawn to. I wanted to jump into the book and help her, although at the time I still wasn't sure why she was running and what or who she was running from. Elena was nervous nelly, cautious. At the same time, she was fierce and determined. There was so much more to her situation than meet the eye.

blockquote> "I haven't always been this timid, weak woman. I never used to be nervous all the time. I was outgoing. I liked to have fun and I was always up for meeting new people. I had dreams. I had plans. I was going to have a bright future. And then Peck happened. Things changed. I changed."

Elena had been on the run and she wanted to stop. Just stop, deal with it, and live her life again. But she needed help. This was a situation she couldn't deal with on her own. I won't divulge how she meets Jason, but it was great! And the second meeting - forget about it! I found myself laughing out loud! There were definitely moments I was smiling and laughing. But there were those moments, too, of feeling mad, angry, and even shocked!

Elena clearly had trust issues. But Jason was a sly one. He read her like a frigging book! Scary good reading her! What made it more engaging, more entertaining, was reading both their voices. Excellent choice in writing dual POV! Not only hearing her thoughts, concerns, and feelings, but we hear his as well.

blockquote> "Jason with his voodoo mind reading talents …"

Jason always seemed to know how to calm her, made her feel safe. In turn they grow closer. And it wasn't a gradual closeness. It was a sort of insta-love. But not in a cheesy or silly way. The problem that brought them together, in turn, kept them together. And although in part necessary, it was also subconscious actions. Jason felt protective of her, possessive even. He had this want for her, this need for her.

blockquote> "Not sure what this is between us and I don't know where it's going, but I'm telling you right now, I sure"

I enjoyed this book tremendously! And I, for one, am ready for more PRG Investigations!!

Two Truths and NO lying here! 5 stars

What a great story!! I thoroughly enjoyed it! So much so in fact that I started it AND finished it all in ONE DAY! Even thought it was different than what I was expecting – a paranormal story (that is how I found Ashley in the first place!) – I was completely captivated by it. It is almost a “sleeper” kind of story meaning that even though there is a LOT going on, at the same time there isn’t. It is a sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-seat-while-relaxing type of awesome read! You will just have to read the book to understand what I mean. I don’t want to give too much away and ruin the magic of this story! I have read books that are told in the first person, second person, third person and every combination in between. Some of them work, but a lot of them are very confusing. That is NOT the case with Two Truths and a Lie! In fact, Ashley does a fantastic job telling the story from both Elena & Jason’s point of views! I am convinced that this is one of the main reasons that this was such an engrossing story. I was actually surprised, even though I shouldn’t have been, but I was, with just how quickly I was sucked into the story! I love how you know enough to follow the story, but not too much too overload you or even ruin the magic of the story, and the hints are done so well that they keep you reading to find out the whole story – Elena’s, Jason’s AND the rest of the book! So many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming! But of course, if I did then it wouldn’t have been such a great book! LOL I was SHOCKED when I found out just WHY Elena ran in the first place! I loved how even though Elena is done running, she is still so scared and doesn’t know who to trust. She doesn’t fall easily into the trust either and makes everyone work hard to earn and KEEP that trust! That was one point that I loved because it made it feel more real. Everything done felt real! Almost to the point that you wondered if this was in fact a fiction novel or not! It is, by the way!  I cannot wait to read more in this series and see where Ashley is going to take them while still keeping them fresh and exciting! Based on this book, I am thoroughly convinced that they will exactly be just that!!

I have been given an ARC copy by the author for an honest review.

5 AMAZING STARS. This book is seriously amazing. Everyone who knows me or follows me here, twitter or FB, just knows that I am a huge fan of Ashley’s books. And she didn’t disappoint me. No shock here. With every single book she is just getting better and better. I loved Soul’s Mark series, I adored and was fangirling over Aidan from Deadly Pack Trilogy, but let me tell you that: they were good, but this? This is PERFECTION for me. She hit the right spots for me.

My Thoughts:

In the story we meet Elena Reed. A girl, who suddenly decides to run away from home and was hiding for a year. On her 21st Birthday she decides to get help in claiming her life back. She wants to go home and she wants to stop running. So she sits in a shady bar waiting for her helper. And there she meets Jason Pierce. Handsome, confident and quick with snarky comments private investigator. But as always not everything is going according to plan. He thinks she is looking for fun, she calls him names, she runs, he chases her. Yep. Loved those scenes.

I liked Elena from the first page. She was shy, nervous and so scared, but from the beginning you can observe how she is maturing and becoming strong, confident and stubborn woman. My heart broke when she finally told her story. At the beginning I was sure she was a witness of a murder, but noooo…Ashley had to do something more heart clenching! And she did it amazingly.

Jason…oh my Jason…he is handsome, confident and sweet. He is a private investigator together with his friends, Wes and Vance, who are just as funny as he is. I just love that he has that protectiveness and possessiveness over Elena (I am hundred 100% sure Ashley meant to call the main character Ewelina, but there must be a typo :P ). He knows what he wants and once he wants it, he is going after it. But what I love the most about him? He has his own problems. He is not perfect and untouched by world ugliness. Both are not. And that’s why this book is so amazing.

This book made me smile, laugh, pant and cry a bit. It’s not ugly crier, but sometimes you don’t need death or sickness to cry.

And oh. Best scene? Wes. Elena. Hotel room, Taser. Jason. – crying from laughter, barely breathing because of that. Snorting, while laughing. Yeah. Love that Scene! :D

This story is AMAZING! It's another FB find for me - I don't know the author, just saw a little snippet of a blurb from one of the blogs I follow & I was intrigued enough to check it out. SO GLAD I DID! : )

Elena has been on the run for a year, and of course she's tired of it. She happens upon someone who knows of a PI who can help her. She takes a chance & meets Jason, Wes, and Vance. At first, Jason is a TOTAL jerk, but it's only because he thinks Elena is messing with him. Once he figures out that she isn't, that she's really there because she needs his help, his Alpha-protective side comes out & he works his butt off to A) earn her trust & B) protect her from the DB she's running from!

They spark really quickly (LOL, you'll get why that's funny once you read this)(and I highly recommend this story!) & I L O V E their banter, their tentativeness, the boldness that's woven into that... There is tension (I wouldn't say angst) and some action. There's friendship & a broken relationship w/ his dad. This story has it all, and I'm looking forward to the next books in the series! : )

Elan Reed has been on the run, she is on the run from something that is a threat to her.
She is unable to stay in one place for long, what's following her always comes close....
so she has to move on...and fast.

One day, Elan is all done with running, she realizes she cannot run forever, she's not been home for years.

She hires a Private Investigator. Trouble is, her case gets passed to the owners son, and he has trust issues with her Father, so he thinks its a set up, and doesn't trust Elan or her story.

Eventually he starts to dig into her past, and he can see that she is in terrible danger, he puts aside his trust issues to help her.

This was a very realistic read, Jason was one HOT guy and there were steamy scenes in here to make your hair curl and then some.

I would say this is a romance/suspense and very well written.

I was part of a blog tour and offered to read and review this, I am glad that I did, I don't accept many books from blog tours, just help out, but this one did take my attention, and now I know why.

loved! review this week :)

This book was originally reviewed on The Book Hookup.

**I received a copy of this book, but it did not influence the review**

4.5 stars Oh, I love me a good romantic suspense and I got all that and more with Two Truths and a Lie. From the second I opened the book until the last page of the epilogue I was hooked.

Twists and turns? Yes, please and thank you. The story kept me on the edge of my seat…sometimes what I expected, but then there were other “things” I never suspected and I loved that! Double crossings are always the best surprise for me….you’ll have to read for yourself to find out. ;)

Not only did I love the story itself, but also the MCs. Elena was so real I swear I could feel her exhaustion in my own bones, I could feel her fear about falling asleep and letting her guard down. I liked her bravery, her softness, her loyalty, and her ability to still trust. But even more I adored Jason..all of him. I liked his inner dialogue, I liked his pure confidence around Elena, I loved his hot body, but eeeep, I have to mention that I wasn’t wild about all the “darlin’” and the “babe” talk. That goes for Wes and Vance too. It certainly didn’t take away from how much I loved them, but I wasn’t crazy about it.

And since I mentioned Wes and Vance I HAVE to talk more about them because they are totally worthy. gah. I loved them! Sometimes secondary characters are annoying, but sometimes they make just the right amount of appearances where the reader is desperate to know more. And with Wes and Vance…I need more. Need. We know they are both such loyal friends to Jason and they know him better than anyone, and to top it off they are fiercely protective of Elena. Also, they are hilarious. I can’t wait to hear their stories because I have a feeling I will be falling in love all over again.

The romance, I got the best of both worlds….while the attraction was immediate, there was still a slow burn to go with it…divine. I liked that Jason was upfront with his attraction, but still took it slowly. And I liked that Elena was receptive. There was a blind trust because of a gut feeling, which is what falling in love is all about….taking that leap. I loved it!

There were definitely parts that had some odd loose endings, or could have had better follow through, but honestly, the story was that good, that addictive…so it still gets a really great rating from me.

The ending was perfect, the dust had settled and a few weeks had gone by so we got to relax and just watch everyone move forward. I love my HEAs!

Rec this? YES! If you love a heated romantic suspense this is a great addition for your TBR.

ARC for an honest review

What can I say, Ashley Stoyanoff has done it again. She wrote another amazing book.

I think it's great the Elena wants to get her life back and not hide anymore, she needs some help. A friend sends her to Jason, so he can help her out.

The chemistry between the two are a little bumpy at first, but we'll worth it. And when they finely express how they feel about each other, it just makes you smile, and wish you were that person.

The intimate scenes are very beautiful, I can't say that about most of the books I read, because theirs is a wam bam thank you ma'am kind of books. When you read this book, you become apart of this book.

There are twist and turns in this book that keep you on the edge of your seat wanting to read more and more, and when you are done reading, you still want more. For me I still want more Jason. ;)

There are other characters in this book, who are great. Wes and Vance, two great people who help Jason with Elena. This book has you laughing when you get Wes and Vance in the picture, can't wait to see what Ashley has in store for them. I'm a total Wes fan already. :)

All I have to say is, this is a must read, and well worth it.

Thank you Ashley, for letting me read an ARC.

Great read!

I enjoyed this book about Elena and Jason. Elena is on the run and Jase along with his friends Wes and Vance take her case. They run PRG Investigations. Jason and Elena have an immediate attraction to one another. I loved the crime mystery to this book. Also how Jason will do anything to make sure Elena stays safe.

Talk about a book that was captivating, intriguing and unputdownable!!!!

Two Truths and A Lie by Ashley Stoyanoff was filled with mystery, intrigue, suspense, romance and a very HOT Hero!!! Ashley knows the perfect mix when it comes to writing an amazing book. Nothing overpowered this story. We had just the right amount of mystery and suspense to keep you turning the pages, and enough romance to make you swoon and root for Elena and Jason. This book isn't over done with sex either, which I really liked. Don't get me wrong there is sex in this story, but not until much later in the book, but this story didn't really need the sex to make it steamy and make you want to finish their story. She even added in some great secondary characters that had me laughing.

When an author can touch on that many feelings and emotions in a book, that to me is what makes it a 5 star read.

Now as for the storyline….yes it is similar to others I have seen before in this genre and was fairly predictable, but Ashley was able to add her own spin to the story to make it unique and worth reading. She knew when to throw in some twists to throw the reader off and make the story interesting. She also created great characters. Elena and Jason were fantastic characters to me. They were relatable and fun to read about. They weren't broken, but that's not to say they didn't have some trouble in the past. Both had trust issues, but it is completely warranted. I would say that this book was an insta-love type story, but the way Elena and Jason's story played out, it felt believable. Nothing seemed rushed.

This book is part of a series, but it is a completed story with a HEA. I believe the other books will be about some of the secondary characters we meet in this book. I am really hoping that in the other books Elena and Jason will still make an appearance. I want to see them again and see their HEA.

This is my first book by Ashley Stoyanoff and it won't be my last. I look forward to reading other books by her and the other books in this series.

Elena Reed is on the run from her "fiance" officer Lawrence Peck and has been hiding for the past year. She is tired of running and wants to go home, so a man who has befriended her, Mr. Chapman, sets up a meeting for her with a PI, Jason Pierce, who he knows can straighten out Elena's problems. Jason is partners with Wes and Vance in PRG investigations. She is to meet Jason in a bar but when she sees him there, he doesn't know who she is. She gets mad and storms out, and since he thinks she was just looking for some fun he lets her go. He realizes he had the wrong idea and goes after her. Right away, Two Truths and a Lie promises to be captivating. It does not disappoint.

I LOVED this book. It was very hard for me to put down. The writing was fantastic and the characters! The characters were wonderfully written. I had to like Elena's determination to protect her loved ones even if it meant she had to leave them all. While Jason started out being a bit of a jerk, he turned out to be a very competent and focused investigator who would not stop digging until he resolved Elena's case. Their attraction for each other did complicate things for them but made the story even more of a page turner.

I would like to thank the author for giving me this opportunity of reading and reviewing this fabulous book. It bumped my last "best book ever" and is now number one on my list.

Two Truths and a Lie
Ashley Stoyanoff
(PRG Investigations, #1)
Publication date: February 28th 2015
Genres: New Adult, Romance

Let me start by saying that I have been a big fan of all Ashley Stoyanoff's books and this one is just another to add to the list of greats. It starts you off right away with the drama but it's flow is easy to catch and keeps you on your toes till the very last page. Had It not been for having to go to work, I would have not put it down when I started reading it. It was hard stopping. I loved all the characters, Jason is amazing, could have used so much more of Wes and Vance, and they all (even the bad guys) were portrayed so believable. I really loved the way they showed realistic emotions such as doubts, fear, and happiness. Even the reactions to certain events were relatable, not far fetched or over the top. Nothing happened over night. I would have liked to of gotten a little more closure Elena brothers but overall I truly enjoyed the entire story. I will be reading this again soon as well as eagerly awaiting the next books. Can not wait for more PRG Investigations.

This book was so great. I was up half the night reading then got up and finished it. I couldn't put it down. Jason is a wonderful character. I hope Ashley also writes about the other two male characters Vance and Wes in the future.

I received an ARC from Xpresso Book Tours in exchange for an honest review.
I love reading suspense, and this was an enjoyable read. The premise of the book set up an intriguing, if not slightly predictable journey. Elena has been on the run from her boyfriend, who also happens to be a well-respected police officer, and has found herself looking for help from Jason Pierce and his friends who operate PRG Investigations.

The story is quite fast-paced, which suits the story and certainly kept me turning the pages. The style of writing is easy to follow and the story is well-driven by the plot. I did feel as though the progression of the love story seemed rather accelerated. Particularly considering the trauma that she had been through and because she'd been on the run, I would have expected Elena to be a bit more cautious in her willingness to step in to a new relationship. In this sense it did seem a bit cliched as the man falls for the damsel while the woman falls for the hero protector, but we all enjoy a story with a bit of predictability from time to time.

I liked the side story of Jason's family and how that aspect was interwoven with the plot. The idea of a corrupt police force is also certainly an intriguing plot that I enjoy, as it becomes not only about solving a crime but also needing to be smart about how you deal with that aspect of those in power being on the other side of you. You can't simply complain to the authorities, as Elena has unfortunately already learned. With a longer story, this could have been fleshed out more which I think could have enhanced the drama. As it was, the climax of the story almost came too quickly. Nonetheless it was an enjoyable story, and it will be good to read a subsequent instalment of the series and learn about the other PRG boys!

I knew just from reading the synopsis that this was going to be a good book. After reading it, I must say this was an awesome book!

Ashley Stoyanoff is an amazing writer! She managed to write these characters so well that I was really sad when this book ended. I wanted more time with Elena and Jason! (Especially Jason!) Elena's back story was really interesting and I like how it played into the current situation to get her in front of Jason because he's seriously book boyfriend material! This story was fast-paced and fluid without being exhausting. There were a lot of twists and turns but it's just enough to keep you on your toes and make sure you're still paying attention.

There is no insta-love in this book, unless of course you count my insta-love for Jason. It builds slowly and gradually becomes stronger and stronger and harder for Jason and Elena to ignore. Once they acknowledge their feelings for each other things get really steamy!

I loved how Stoyanoff was able to make these characters so relatable and engaging that you didn't want to put the book down because you had invested so much time in them. Ending this book was like losing a good friend because that's how well they were fleshed out. They all had flaws and issues much like us real folks do and seeing them work out their issues and overcome their problems over the time frame of the story was really great.

I also liked the characters Vance and Wes, Jason's partners. I hope to see more of them, if not with their own stories, as the series continues. They really complement Jason's character and work well within the story. I cannot wait to read more of this series!

I loved this book, the blurb for it does not give much away but it is much more than the blurb gives it. From the first few pages you are drawn in and wonder what the mystery is about Elena and what is she hiding and why. Jason as well has his own secrets and both of these characters slowly release their secrets as time goes on through the book and from their dual POVs. I will not give away the story as it is full of surprises and what then would be the point in you reading it? Trust me when i say there are complex characters all over this book, some with malicious intents and others just out to live free again. I love Elena and how her quietness is sometimes cut through with bouts of strength. While Jason is all simmering tension ho has moments of surprising warmth to Elena. I also loved all the supporting characters in this book, and as this is advertised as book 1 in a series i cannot wait to see what could be in store for the rest of the series.

Great new series that had a lil bit of everything!!

It had action, deceit, deception, intrigue, suspense, dirty cops, romance, redemption, and the list goes on....

I loved Jason! He is one sexy hero! He can rescue me at any time.

Elena is such a doll. She's had so much happen in the past year, I am surprised she can even trust anyone. So glad to see Jason take the time to get to know what Elena truly needed and trusts her.

The storyline was great, the characters so well developed and easy to become invested in and their dialogue drew me in.

All in all a great read and can not wait to read book 2 and 3! This series is going to rock!

So.... Would I recommend this book? Yes

Would I read more from this author? Yes (need to find out what is up for Vance and Wes next!)

Well let me start by saying the editing in this book was Fantastic. I know that is a strange way to start a review but if you knew how much of a "grammar" snob I am you'd understand.

Elena Reed is in trouble and she needs help. Enter Jason Pierce. This story told by Ashley Stoyanoff leaves your heart pounding with excitement and lust. With each chapter you learn a little more about Elena's need to trust but finds it difficult to do until Jace breaks thru the walls. While she is overcoming her own fears and insecurities he must learn to forgive the man that hurt him but is also responsible for him finding love.

If you are looking for a book that takes a different approach at romance while including a few twists and turns then you definitely want to read this book!

Loved this book! It had suspense, action, romance, and hot men....what more could a girl ask for? There were no over the top, hot and heavy sex scenes. I wasn't in the mood for that when I chose this book and it was perfect. There WAS sex, just not over detailed and erotic sex. More the romantic variety. The book progressed nicely and you were always wanting to see what happened next. I wish the rest of the series was out now!

I have a new book boyfriend and his name is Jason Pierce! "Why don't you go and make some coffee darlin', yeah?" OMG! Love him!!

Best advice ever too, always weave a lie in with the truth to make it more believable, "Two truths and a lie babe!"

LOVED IT!!

Jason….oh my Jason….he is handsome, confident and sweet. He is a private investigator together with his friends, Wes and Vance, who are just as funny as he is. I just love that he has that protectiveness and possessiveness over Elena (I am 100% sure Ashley meant to call the main character Ewelina, but there must be a typo like in the whole book :P ).
