Time cannot imprison love nor hold it in place. At Balmoral, a two-hundred-year-old estate in old Northampton, love calls and only the heart can answer. When five-year-old Albert Farraday first sets foot on the grounds of Balmoral, he senses its magic. After he returns from the Korean War and is employed as the caretaker, Camille, the mysterious new wife of the owner of the estate, leads Albert to believe there is indeed a force drawing the love-worn to Balmoral. After Camille’s widowed niece visits the mansion, then disappears, he is certain his own sister Lydia traveled to meet her love and didn’t go mad as his mother had suggested.Over the years Balmoral welcomes brokenhearted travelers who find their way to the portal and into the arms of love, and Albert comes to the understanding he is not only the custodian of Balmoral but the keeper of its secrets.

When lovers call to each other, the portal on the Balmoral estate brings them together. In this unusual trilogy, time and distance cannot separate those who hearts long for each other. First there is Randolph and Camille who planned to marry, but were thwarted by a misunderstanding. Next comes Angie who comes to Balmoral after her husband's death. Then there's Liddy, who is considered an oddity for she speaks Gaelic and talks of castle and parish Kirks. The link between stories is Albert, Liddy's brother, who assists those on their journeys.
This sweet romance is filled with rich historical details. Well worth the read!
An amazing story of love calling from beyond the portals of time, so strong the separated are reunited to enjoy long and happy love-filled lives. Beginning with Randolph and Camille in war-torn London, the estate of Balmoral reunites Randy and the girl who captured his heart. Then, the castle-like property has a hand in joining Angie/Angelina with her cowboy boyfriend for a new life in New Mexico. Finally, Liddy, who is considered 'odd' in her own world, has a life and love waiting in Scotland for her. Only her twin brother, Albert, gives her pause for thought. I loved everything about this story. I loved the characters and the setting of the Balmoral estate. But most of all I enjoyed the feeling of being pulled deep into the story, jut like the characters are pulled back in time. Ms Pitts Caine has clearly researched multiple eras of history and each reflects authenticity and adds enjoyment to the story.
I'm not usually a time-travel buff--at least I wasn't. However, I'm a fan of this author after reading some of her other books. So, I decided to give "Not Bound By Time" a chance and I'm so glad I did. Across time and across the globe, the common thread is transcendent love. I was enthralled by the pure romance of lovers calling to each other from a different time and place. The story moves along swiftly, always sweet, somewhat mysterious. The plot is fantastic, but the characters are as real as your next-door neighbor. Wonderful read!
I'm not into time travel books, but Vickie Caine's "Not Bound by Time" could certainly change my mind. Great read. Love the characters. And love the ending.
