More secrets revealed, more betrayals! There is character growth. Still fast paced and a different take on a vampire PNR. Will review more soon.

I want the next book so bad! :(

*I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review*

So, I started this book kind of backwards. I have not read the first book in the series, In the Shadow of Angels, but I will have to read it very soon. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Charlotte is a girl struggling to come to grips with her sister's death after she is forced to return to her childhood home. Aydin is a super hot vampire that was her and her sister's Guardian before things went a bit haywire and Aydin marked Charlotte has his own. Both of these characters seem to struggle with their own inner battles. Actually, I think most of the people, if not all, are struggling with their own inner battles. I'm going to honest though, in some parts of the book I just wanted to shake both of them and tell them to open their eyes to what's in front of them!!! Charlotte and Aydin did argue a lot in the beginning, but Luc, Aydin's brother, got onto Aydin's case about the way he was treating Charlotte. Thank God for Luc. I really did love Luc, his banter with Charlotte had me laughing most of the time. This whole world that Ms. Savage has created is a very dark place riddled with betrayal and deceit. I found myself sucked into it pretty quickly. The ending killed me though!!! Literally!! I have never read such an intense cliffhanger! I cannot wait for the next book to come out, or I may lose my head in the suspense of waiting.

Book one ends with Aydin and Charlotte hiding in a dungeon, and this is where we still find them. The relationship develops slowly between them as each deals with their own inner demons and secrets whilst trying to figure out what everyone else is hiding. The irreverent side character of Lucius was just as compelling as Aydin (who is too serious as times). The banter between blond bombshell Lucius Charlotte was a breath of fresh air amongst all the emotional angst, which I also enjoyed.
The climax to the book is breathtaking, as the reader is forced to re-assess character loyalities within a web of lies and counter lies. I can't wait for the next one.

I am amazed, in a very violent society I am reading about vampires who love deeply and have remorse, also the author writes beautifully, it is prose.

For those who read to escape and love a good read, I highly recommend this book, and it even has a first book and more to come, wow, I am hooked !!

Addicted, Destroyed, and Desperate for Book 3

In the Shadow of Monsters by Fanny Lee Savage didn’t just take me on a ride—it dragged me through fire and left me begging for more. The suspense was deliciously suffocating, but it’s the explosive, sinful chemistry between Aydin and Charlotte that truly wrecked me. Every scene between them crackled with heat, tension, and barely restrained obsession. Their dynamic? Unholy. And I loved every second of it. But just when I thought I could finally breathe, that ending hit. A brutal, merciless cliffhanger that shattered me in the best and worst way. I’m unwell. I’m spiraling. I need Book 3 like it’s my next breath. Fanny Lee Savage didn’t write a story—she lit a match and walked away smiling.

So much pain, so much sorrow

I read book one and I couldn't get enough. So I got the second book and couldn't put it down, Charlotte has been through so much and it just keeps getting worse. Then the mind-blowing ending comes and you're left catching a breath. I can't wait for book 3.

'In the Shadow of Monsters (The Guardian Series, #2)'by Fanny Lee Savage is the follow-up to 'In the Shadow of Angels' which I already greatly enjoyed for its thought-provoking elements, endearing characters and good story-telling.
This second book is by far darker and grittier than the first, which was pretty mild compared to this one. I have to be honest to confess I'm not normally into vampire stories...at all... but because I loved book 1 so much I wanted to find out what happened to Charlotte and Aydin. Ms Savage is a talented writer and made me forget at times what I was reading!
The two main characters were still in the dungeon at first and argued quite a bit, even though there is a mutual attraction they both fight against, but soon the story picks up and gets more interesting.
I don't want to give away anything of the story line too much, but I found it, despite the dark elements a good, solid, page-turning read.

Recommended for lovers of dark fantasy, vampire and demons stories and a bit of erotica.

Exciting sequel to In the Shadow of Angels! Charlotte has a tough life and spends the first couple chapters of this engaging book literally ‘locked’ away. She is believed to a descendant of beings from which ancient vampires were born. Her parents, eager to give her a ‘normal’ life had she and her twin protected by a guardian. Now, her sister dead, Charlotte has formed an uneasy alliance with Aydin, a vampire sworn to do everything in his power to protect her. Alternately narrated by both Charlotte & Aydin, this novel swings into high gear, leading to a breathless conclusion that can be described as nothing less than a cliff-hanger! Well-written, the author is always conscious of slowly and tantalizingly revealing the complex layers of each major character (and minor as well) to let the reader become totally immersed in this well-developed story. I’m looking forward to the next in the Guardian Series.

Omgosh

This book is .......I am not a writer I can't put it into words. It took a very short amount of time to read it. I couldn't put it down.
Fanny, you are phenomenally gifted. The imagination, bravery and confidence you must have to come up with the characters and to bring them to life for us to come to know so well is beyond words.
I am gonna go crazy waiting for the next book. I hope it's soon. You shouldn't let anyone get your way of your imagination and your writing.

This book was really a 3.5 for me. I just feel like I should always round up to the nearest.... Like they taught in school.

Anyway If you're looking for a vampire book that is unique, this is the book for you. There were a few scenes that made me feel like the heroine and her friend were teenagers, but if I think about what they've had to put up with over their lives, it's understandable.

Goodnight

This is one of those books that you just can't put down!!! Fanny writes characters that engage us and make us want to follow them into the dangerously exciting and unpredictable world between reality and Immortality!!! This isn't your average vampire, love story...the plot is unique and keeps us turning pages well into the night! Read it.

An exciting follow up to Shadow of Angels this book reveals the lies and deceit behind Charlottes life. It starts if fast paced and compelling, however closer to the end I found it dragged out a little and the dialogue somewhat confusing.

That said it is still an original story and shows the dark side of vampires, not the Edward Cullen fluffy type. Aydin is a deep and complex character that I would liken to a narcissist. Powerful, controlling, aggressive and obsessive he has captured Charlottes heart but left me frustrated and angry showing the true talent from the author!

This book is an emotional rollercoaster and has left me devastated at the end! I need the next one! I rated four stars for the slightly confusing, dragged out dialogue but it's still a great read.
