T.M. (Tracey Marie) Frazier never dreamed that a single person would ever read a word she wrote when she published her first book. Now, she is a eight-time USA Today bestselling author and her books have been translated into numerous languages and published all around the world.

T.M. enjoys writing what she calls ‘wrong side of the tracks romance’ with morally corrupt anti-heroes and ballsy heroines.

Her books have been described as raw, dark and gritty. Basically, what that means, is while some authors are great at describing a flower as it blooms, T.M. is better at describing it in the final stages of decay.

When I read The Dark Light of Day by T.M. Frazier, I was hooked. I loved Jake and all his messed up shit. I loved Abby and everything about her. I loved their raw and intense story. They are both beautifully broken characters and those are my favorite. So for us to get more of them in this novella, I was a happy reader. Just an FYI-This is a companion novella. You should read The Dark Light of Day before reading this.

Jake is one of my favorite damaged men. I loved how hard he loved Abby. He isn’t a ‘good guy’ but he is so good to her.
I LOVED her. I was OBSESSED with her. If anyone tried to tell me a story that involved love at first site, I would shake my head and call it a bunch of horseshit. Love in general was a sketchy concept. Instant love was just fucking ridiculous. Until her.

Those types of men are my absolute favorite. And Abby is the perfect girl for Jake. She’s strong and tough, but so loving and giving. They are both great.

T.M. Frazier is one of those authors I just want to yell ‘WRITE FASTER’ too! I love her writing, her story lines and her characters. If you haven’t read TDLoD and you like twisted stories that are a little dark, raw and definitely unpredictable, pick it up asap, then read this.

5 AMAZING STARS <3

"Only me?"
"Only you. It's only ever been you."

What a beautiful novella! I fell in love with the characters from the Dark Light of Day! Such an amazing and unique couple! They were one of my favorites for 2014!! I really missed Jake and Abby and T.M. Frazier's writing. She is an amazing author and I waited for her when she released her next book!!

Dark Needs continues where the previous book left us but also gives you some explanations. I liked the fact that after the first book we got one more to see how is things with Abby and Jake! I instantly became a part of this book.. I felt like I was a part and I felt their love again..

This novela is from Jake's POV. OMG *sigh* I love him!!! He isn't perfect but he cares so much for Abby that he will do anything to be with her.The chemistry between them was of the charts!!

The ending was perfect!!! I couldn't stop smiling and felt happy for them!! But I will not say anything...This book is sweet, dark and sexy.

"I fucking love you Bee."
"I fucking love you,too, Jake."

Get ready guys for more Abby and Jake...

The only thing with a stronger pull than the monstrous need to take the life of another was the the pull of Abigail Ford.
She didn't need to show me that I was capable of love. She was the one who made me capable of love.
Of loving her.
Of loving Georgia.
The need for Abby was stronger than my need for anything else.
I loved her.
I still love her.
I will always fucking love.

Now let's take a moment of silence after that quote because if you've read The Dark Light of Day then your feels are probably all over the place. Speaking of The Dark Light of Day, Dark Needs is the novella that follows right after the events that happened in the first book. So quite frankly if you've read the first book and loved it then you'll want to read this one too.

Dark Needs, is told from Jake's POV, and is about their life following his return and the vengeance he sought for what Owen had done to Abby. Kudos to the author because I thought this book was necessary, it gave a more complete ending to Abby and Jake's story if that makes sense. Jake loves Abby more than ever and having his daughter in his life has allowed to him forget about his darker cravings. There a threats to their happiness, but Jake is determined to never let anything or anyone come between him and his family.

Our love had no rules.
What I did to Owen made me realize that there was a reason I was put on this planet exactly how I was, how I am.
To protect my family.

I'm not going to go into much more detail because this is a novella and a short one at that. I will say that if you enjoyed the first book then this novella is a must, I'm repeating myself. There's also an awesome surprise at the end of the book!

Dark Needs is the short novella to The Dark Light of Day. Only read this after you've read the main book. I loved this just as much this time but still, the reason I'm only rating this 4 ★'s is that I was disappointed I didn't get to see exactly what Jake did to that sick F*ck Owen. I really really wanted to see Jake give him everything he deserved and MORE for what he did to Abby. If that makes me a little sick, so be it! I feel justified in having those feelings. This was for the most part in Jake's POV about what happened after he got back from his revenge kill. I love this broken twisted couple so damn much, it was so nice getting a little bit more of ♥Abby & Jake♥. They have got to be one of my absolute favorite couples. I would read ANYTHING that those two were in. This novella shows us just how much Jake loves Abby though there was never a doubt in my mind of that said love, they are everything together.

The lines between Right and Wrong. Good and Bad. Light and Dark. Were always Blurred.

“A revenge kill is the best kind of kill.
But a revenge kill for your family, with your woman's permission?
That's borderline erotic.”
- Jake, The Dark Light of Day.

I pictured something about like this...

Bee knew that I was going to find and kill Owen, she encouraged me by showing me the pictures of the aftermath of Owen's vicious attack on her

“Our love had no rules.
… There was a reason I was put on the planet exactly how I was, how I am.
To protect my family.”

“Bee deserved better than me, but I was drawn to her innocence, and she was drawn to my darkness. Together, we made a whole lot of no sense, and it was just the way I liked it.”

4 A bit of heaven and a bit of hell. stars
Our love had no rules.

Dark Needs is a short lil novella to give us that lil something more for us Abby and Jake fans as well give just the tease of King. I'm such a slut, because I pretty much started this loving the hell out of Jake and in the end, tossed him aside for all the possibilities that is King. Don't get me wrong, Jake is ever the badass he has always been, it's different because his rage no longer drives him, he lives and would kill for his girls and no one could ever change that fact. Underneath the need is still there to be unleash his demons, so taking a few small jobs here and there keep the beast at bay. Dark Needs is primarily told from Jake's POV, but in the end we get to reconnect with Abby, and feel just one of the many ways Jake has healed her. Loved the read, especially since I went on a Dark Light binge and pretty much went back to back!

Perfect short novella to accompany the Dark Light of Day.
FINALLY, we learn the story from Jake's point of view.
Highly recommended if you loved the first book and if you crave to learn more about how broken Jake and Abby saved/healed each other.

Very Nice. Abby and Jake from Jake’s POV!

This book is pretty much what I wanted in the last one. It describes Jake’s love at first sight for Abby, which even he admits is something he didn’t believe in until it happened to him. Though I truly believe there really is no such thing. It is really lust at first sight and if the same two people end up together, they later call it love at first sight.

On a side note, this book is described in some places as “The Dark Light of Day, #1.5” and in others as “King, #0.5” since it is a Novella and it is the POV of Jake and can also be seen as his introduction. Since Jake shows up in quite a few of the books In the King series as a mysterious figure, this book is definitely worth reading if you are going to or have read that series. Actually both of these are worth it.

This story shows Jake as the cold blooded killer he is and tells how he got rid of Owen, how he returns to Abby afterwards and is afraid she might not see him the same knowing what he just did. They also go through some more trials and tribulations before the end of the story and like all the books in the King series this has a killer ending. It is a novella so it is shorter but I really liked it.

If you didn’t read my review for the first book, my only complaint was that Jake was a bit too nice. Since we saw him in the King books as such a cold blooded emotionless killer who just like to torture and kill. The fact that he just all the sudden falls in insta love and starts treating this girl all nice seemed a bit out of character. So this is more of what I was expecting and wanting. I’m glad T.M Frazier did this follow up in his POV.

TITLE: Dark Needs
SERIES: (The Dark Light of Day, #1.5)
AUTHOR: T.M. Frazier
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
RELEASE DATE: February 9th 2015
MY RATING: ★★★★

The reason why I'm rating this four stars and not five is because I'm one sick puppy and I just wanted the gory dark stomach churning gritty details of every little thing he did to that sick f*ck Owen, just to feel a slight satisfaction how the fukka was put to ground..But other than that I really enjoyed how this ended and I fell in love with these two favourite characters of mine all over again..

Owen didn't know who he was really running from when he took off from Coral Pines, what he was really running from was his imminent death.

REVENGE KILL

This woman, with scars inside and out, had chosen me to be with, those scars kept her from connecting with people for so long, but when it came to me, she'd knocked down every barrier she'd ever built so she could let me in.

I would walk the end of the earth for Abby, I would burn the motherf*cker down for Georgia.

I loved how this novella was all wrapped up and we're given a sneak peak into KING at the end of this book I can not wait to get my grubby little hands on that!!

Dark Needs is a follow up novella to The Dark Light of Day. I highly recommend that you read that before you read this novella.

In The Dark Light of Day, a lot happens! Abby has been through hell and only survived because of the love of one man. Jake! Jake is not a good man. He has lived a rough life as well and is at first hesitant to take care of Abby. They fall in love. Jake makes Abby his. While I loved The Dark Light of Day, I had such a difficult time with the way things ended. Therefore, this novella really finished their story off beautifully!

"Over the past year, my life seemed like a dream. A dream someone like me was unworthy of even having. Every day of my life was a gift I knew I didn't deserve but selfishly accepted anyway."-Jake

A year has passed since Abby and Jake have reconnected. They are living happily with Georgia their daughter. As soon as things seem to be moving along happily for the three, the police show up and arrest Jake for murder.

Jake is terrified that Abby is going to slip back into herself. He wants desperately to keep her safe.

"Every day I spend with Bee is another day she breaks my heart and repairs it all over again. Being with her makes the tiny hairs on my arm stand on end and my heart drop into my stomach every time she enters the room. I LOVED her."-Jake

description

While the plot continues to develop, we see how much Jake and Abby need each other. Every unspoken word from the first book is spoken in Dark Needs. Every missed moment of bliss is lived in Dark Needs. Every question of Jake's loyalty to Abby and Georgia is answered in Dark Needs.

"I was making a list of all I was going to do once I was free because my number one priority was going to be making sure my wife knew that I was there to carry her burdens for her and make sure that the life I gave her was one she never felt like she couldn't deal with."-Jake

I simply cannot say enough about the beauty in Dark Needs. This book was quick but packed a powerful punch. Jake and Abby are not sweet. Their love is gritty, dark, and raw but so beautiful. I cannot thank Ms. Frazier enough for giving me the ending these two deserved! We also get a glimpse into her next book. I cannot wait to read KING!

"Love is what made it all make sense. When it came to my girls and my love for them, any rules I had about how and why I do the things I do were thrown out the window. Our love had no rules."-Jake

ARC won from author’s giveaway

Note: Dark Needs is a companion novella to Dark Light of Day. If you haven’t read the main novel you can still read my review as it has no spoiler from either book.

Dark Needs started right where Dark Light of Day ended – the night Jake came back from exacting his revenge for his family. He came back carrying a fear of being rejected by the one he loved for what he did. But his fear was unwarranted because Abby had the same hunger in her that needed feeding.

They lived their lives as a normal family for a year until Jake’s past came back to haunt him. With his family’s happiness hung in the balance, Jake must learn to accept who he really was in order to keep everything together.

When I first read Dark Light of Day, I was captured by the angst and the grittiness of the story. I fell in love with both Jake and Abby because not only they were broken, but they came with their own personal set of darkness.

I was so excited when I found out this companion novella was in the making. Though I have to admit I was a little apprehensive when an author attempted to extend stories I love because it could go to two opposite directions. It could be a closure or it could ruin what was good.

This novella almost went to the negative side. I love that it’s in Jake POV and we got to see his fears as he was forced to answer the mistakes of his past. But at some point I was worried he was losing his touch because it seemed to me he was heading towards the white picket fences thing.

What I love the most about Jake was his unapologetic personality, and thank god it came back in the epilogue. And I have to say what an epilogue! I was flipping out when we’re introduced to someone who we haven’t met, but I’m already loving him.

Dark Needs was a nice little novella to sate your need for T.M. Fraziers’ writing while waiting for something bigger and badder. ;)

I love it, Mostly in Jake's POV about what happened after he killed Owen. He got arrested a year later for Owen's murder the evidence was found in the belly of an alligator someone killed. he fed the body to it but the teeth did not digest, someone killed the alligator and found it inside. Owen's dad already suspected and due to their open hatred for each other he was a major suspect.

I may have been the devil, but with my blonde hair and blue eyes I know I didn't look the part. This guy looked like the floor had opened up and he'd just stepped through the gates of hell and into my cell.

Damn that was mean of Jake, King is not that menacing.

Abby kinda went back to her shell of insecurity but Jake helped her out in a very twisted way.

Nice companion Novella

This was a short and enjoyable read part of Dark Light of Day. It narrates some of the aftermath of the ending of the previous book. It’s told mostly on Jake’s POV. Short and messy and lots of suspension of disbelief, lol! It’s also a setup for the King Series. Definitely enjoyed.

Nice set up

This was a nice setup for the main book. It gives all the background information. For anyone who read the series King, he was in the end of this book. I’m curious how much he’ll be in this two book series. King was an excellent series. This was really good at setting everything up for the next book, but was also a great story. I would recommend reading it before the main book. I almost didn’t read this, because it wasn’t associated with the main book, so I’m glad I came across it.

5 Bloody Brilliant Stars!

This is a novella which carries on from book 1 called The Dark Light of Day. You need to read that book before you start this one or you will just be confused and we wouldn't want that now, would we? ;)

"Only me?"
"Only you. It's only ever been you."

First of all T.M.Frazier, I love ya and your writing. I loved TDLOD and the way it was written, it made me feel so many emotion. And I'm sure some of these emotions weren't normal. The anger oh my god.The ANGER I felt in book one was extreme. This novella did not disappoint. I got stuck in and kept looking at the percentage on my kindle app and thinking oh damn I'm reading too fast! Why aren't there more pages? There needs to be more pages!

'It was easy to live with a theory, something that almost wasn't real because it wasn't something she had to deal with.It was entirely different to come face to face with the truth of it all.'

I had missed Abby and Jake, loved both these characters and their raw, dark passionate love for one another.I adored the parts with Jake and Georgia! They were just soo cute. This novella was mainly in Jake's pov which was different and interesting.

Now I just keep wanting to repeat that I really really need more!
The ending was such a pleasant surprise.
I need KING!
And this author has made it to my list of authors that I will automatically one-click their books without even reading the synopsis..actually she made it on the list after I read her first book hah! I will be saving up to buy both books in paperback, who doesn't like stroking the spine of their fav books ;)

A Great Follow-Up Novella With A Sneak Peek For 'King'

I loved 'The Dark Light Of Day', but it left me yearning for more. I still had some unanswered questions. Mostly though, I just wanted more of Jake and "Bee". Their time together was so limited and I wanted the details of their happily ever after.

This novella was exactly what I've been waiting for! It answered all of my questions and then some. Told in Jake's POV this novella offers a glimpse into the mind of the mysterious hitman that we grew to love.

Nothing has ever come easy for Jake and Abby. From the beginning they've had to fight the odds and overcome incredible obstacles to be together. True to form, their happily ever after didn't come easily either. Eventually they get there, but this novella shares their journey.

King is also introduced in this novella. It seems that the lives of Jake and King will be closely intertwined, so hopefully this isn't the end of the road for the story of Jake and Abby. The sneak peek into 'King' was promising. I can't wait to read the long-awaited story!

This is what I have been wanting when I finished The Dark Light of Day.

Jake and Abby are back to show me their future.

I finished this in one sitting. I devoured Dark Needs in the morning.

Dark Needs is mostly from Jake's POV but gets Abby like one time.

It starts exactly where TDLoD ended. Jake has killed Owen and he comes back to Abby and they get it on.

Though Dark Needs is not all lollipops and rainbows, Jake is arrested for the "alleged" death of Owen.

It was all really fast and to me like a small short story to more of Jake and Abby.

And we get a teaser of King and he makes an appearance in the end of Dark Needs. So if you have read TDLoD and want to read about King. Get Dark Needs and read the hell outta it.

It was really good but felt the author cheated us with Jake's retribution against Owen. I wanted to be that proverbial fly on the wall as Owen got his. Did the lame ass suffer was it slow, somehow I envision Owen being cut down to size slowly with razors and rusty nails. Yes I'm bloody thirsty, but hell Jake is bad ass, so I could see him doing something like that, I just wish I could have read it.

Dark Needs by T.M. Frazier
Dark Romance Novella. Does not stand alone.
Dark Needs by T.M. Frazier perfectly completed The Dark Light of Day. This is not a standalone, more of an extended epilogue to the Dark Light of Day as well as a prequel for King. The one thing that I would have liked more of in The Dark Light of Day is more of Jake's POV, and Dark Needs delivers! There was never a doubt about how much Jake loves Abby, but you really see how much with this novella.
"I LOVED her. I was OBSESSED with her.
If anyone tried to tell me a story that involved love at first sight, I would shake my head and call it a bunch of horseshit. Love in general was a sketchy concept. Instant love was just fucking ridiculous.

The only thing with a stronger pull than the monstrous need to take the life of another was the pull of Abigail Ford. She didn't show me that I was capable of love.

Dark Needs made me love The Dark Light of Day even more than I did already.
review_darkneeds_quote-copy

If you have read the King Series first, he is introduced here in Dark Needs. If not, you need to start at the beginning with Dark Light of Day. I don't want to go into too much detail because it's short enough at about 90 pages, but I will say that this book completed The Dark Light of Day in a perfect way, and is a wonderful example of a follow up novella, as well as a prequel to the next book. Seeing Jake as a daddy was just heart melting.

Dark Needs was sexy, dirty, gritty and sweet. I wish I was able to listen like I did to all of her other books, but it's not available on audio. That's OK though, I read it in one sitting, and honestly can not find one thing I would change. Dark Needs is another book from T.M. Frazier that has me kicking myself saying "why did I wait so long?"

4 badass, "Jake Fucking Dunn" stars

This is a companion novel to The Dark Light of Day. Told mainly from Jake’s POV, it gives us a little more detail of the events that took place in the epilogue of the first book as Jake seeks retribution against the man that hurt his family.

“A revenge kill is the best kind of kill.
But a revenge kill for your family, with your woman's permission?
That's borderline erotic.”

- Jake, The Dark Light of Day.

The story then moves on to a year later, thrusting Jake and Abby into more drama that they need to deal with, as well as continuing their healing from events in the past. It’s raw and dirty, but it’s also beautifully romantic and really freaking hot as we get to see them dealing with it all.

She didn't show me that I was capable of love. She was the one who made me capable of love.

I was really satisfied with how The Dark Light of Day ended, and I wouldn’t say this is a necessary read, but I loved the opportunity to see more of Jake as a family man. He is still one scary dude, but he is so in love with his family, and his tenderness and protectiveness is gorgeous.

Our love had no rules.
… There was a reason I was put on the planet exactly how I was, how I am.
To protect my family.

This is a very quick read, and you’ll need to have read The Dark Light of Day for it to make any sense (I actually reread the last couple of chapters to refresh my memory of everything that went down). T.M. Frazier very quickly recaptures the mood of the first book, this novella is dark and gritty, and on the complete wrong side of the law, but if you were already a fan and want just a little bit more of Jake and Abby, then you’ll probably love it. And as a bonus, there is a brief introduction to Frazier’s next book, King.

4 stars.

5 “I Heart Jake” Stars!

The Review:
YES! Now that is what I call a flawless novella. It might have been short but it was packed to the rim with story, bringing back our favorite heroine and anti-hero. We get both Abby and Jake’s POV and it picks up right where Dark Light of Day ends, giving us an intense yet wonderful look into their imperfect lives. They aren’t your typical family. They are rough, edgy, fierce and absolutely perfect for each other. Their lives don’t fit into that daunting, cookie cutter lifestyle and this is where they thrive.

Jake is a father, a lover, a protector... and a contract killer. Abby accepts him in every way, knowing he would tear his soul out to bring her peace.

Abby is a mother, a wife, a homemaker and completely damaged. And Jakes loves her, flaws and all. His love for her and their daughter makes him a hero.

I loved this look at life after their reconnection. This author takes us past the lines of comfort, right and wrong and blows grey out of the fucking water. I love her writing, I love her characters and I love her stories.

And the best part? This book introduces us to King!! I can NOT wait for his story!

Just Some of My Favorite Quotes...

I would walk to the ends of the earth for Abby.
I would burn the motherfucker down for Georgia.

"Only me?"
"Only you. It's only ever been you," Bee said...

"I fucking love you Bee."
"I fucking love you, too, Jake."

Every day I spend with Bee is another day she breaks my heart and repairs it all over again. Being with her makes the tiny hairs on my arm stand on end and my heart drop into my stomach every time she enters the room. I LOVED her. I was OBSESSED with her.

God, I loved The Dark Light Of Day. And have this beautiful novella in my kindle arms is just fabulous. This means more of Jake & Abby. Theirs darkly beautiful love for each other. Two broken souls, which are not healing each other to repair theirs brokenness individually , but unite together, to make them whole as one soul.

Dark Needs starts practically where TDLoD ended. Jake just returned after journey. Where he had some 'fun with' and revenge on Owen Fletcher. Jake is scared, because of what he done. Not because it considered 'bad' thing to do, but how Abby going to 'look' at him now. Yes, she nows of his dark side, but to know theoretically and now seeing evidence of it, is two different things. "Will she still love me? Or she kick me out of her life forever?" Similar questions torments him. But....Jake didn't needed to worry, because...Well, this next sentence from Jake says it all.

☆"She knew exactly who I was. She still wanted me. She LOVED me."☆

They finally having theirs darkly beautiful happy ever after. Or so they thought. Bcause Fletcher family are fucking theirs forever again.

I just hate that family! Just go and die, for fucks sake. Not enough what Jake, Abby go through 5 years ago and now this?! I'm so hoping that Jake goes and kills them all. Even thought Abby says, he can't just go and kill everyone. Well, Abby girl, Jake not only can, but he should. And I would root for him all the way.

So, do you think I got my wish? And Jake with Abby finally got theirs HEA? Or fate just played with Abby & Jake, after letting them see and hope that theirs painful past was worth it all, because at the end they have each other, but at the end let evil to win?

Theres so much more I want to say, but I'm afraid to spoil anything. So, go find out more about Jake & Abbys journey and answers to questions.

Oh, btw, you will get a few nice surprises.

“She didn't show me that I was capable of love. She was the one who made me capable of love.”

It was good to be back in Jake and Abby's world. I wanted to know what happened after, but What I really wanted to know more was how Jake made Owen suffer for what he did to Abby and especially Georgia. I didn't get that, so I am not happy. It would have been amazing to read what and how Jake did it. Because Owen deserved the worst.

Well this little novella certainly surprised me. For one: turns out I actually really like Jake, as in love him. I loved getting into his head and seeing all the dark and pretty fucked up thoughts he has. The more messed up his thoughts were, the more I fell in love. I think that might mean there's something wrong with me but it's too late for me.

It doesn't give us much and it's over almost right after it starts but the little we do get was just the right amount that I needed to make me want to rethink my previous thoughts on the first book. I still wish it was different but I like that this novella lets me see them as a couple, long term. It's all I really wanted in the first book and I'm happy that I'm getting it now.

"I loved her.
I still love her.
I will always fucking love her."

Seriously, I loved being in Jake's POV. There was one chapter in Abby's POV and I was all "NOOO give me back Jake!!" and I can't help but hope that in the future she does both hero and heroine's POV's in her books to let us get into the minds of her messed up characters.

OMG and that preview of King, and his part in the novella?!
