Lucetta Plum is an actress on the rise in New York City, but is forced to abandon her starring role when a fan's interest turns threatening. Lucinda's widowed friend, Abigail Hart, is delighted at the opportunity to meddle in Lucetta's life and promptly whisks her away to her grandson's estate to hide out.

Bram Haverstein may appear to simply be a somewhat eccentric gentleman of means, but a mysterious career and a secret fascination with a certain actress mean there's much more to him than society knows.

Lucetta, who has no interest in Abigail's matchmaking machinations, has the best intentions of remaining cordial but coolly distant to Bram. Dear Family,

I am sorry for not folding the laundry like a I should have. I washed it..... but I let it sit and become a monstrous pile of wrinkled clothes, but I couldn't help myself! Every time I had some "spare" time, I simply chose to read this delightfully engrossing story by Jen Turano. I promise, now that I finished the book, I will do a better job at keeping the laundry monster away. Thank you for letting me have "quiet" time so that I could read. The book was medicine to my soul- all that laughing and chuckling, and even those sweet moments that made my eyes glisten. Maybe you will want to read it too someday. I think you will love it as much as I did:)

Lucetta Plum's step-father is a gambler and like an idiot, puts Lucetta and the deed to her estate in a bet in which he lost. He's a really nice guy right? Lucetta is an actress and trying to live her life when she has to go into hiding because of said idiot step-father.

Lucetta's friend Abigail says she can stay at her grandson Bram's estate. Well come to find out, Abigail wants to set Lucetta up with Bram. Imagine that!

There are some weird stuff going on at the Ravenwood estate. You have cannons going off for no particular reason causing people to dive into the moat. Something in shining armor wandering around the castle, hidden rooms, secret identities, crazy goats.... etc and so on.

 :

I must say the parts with the goat are the funniest to me.

--->EXCERPTS<---

Standing smack-dab in the middle of what had to be a very expensive Aubusson rug was...a goat. It as watching Lucetta with eyes that seemed a little wild. Realizing that the poor thing was obviously as surprised to see her as she was to see it, she took a step forward and held out her hand, intending to give the goat a reassuring pat.
She realized almost immediately that she'd made a rather large mistake, because the goat let out what sounded like a shriek, right before it lowered it's head and charged her way.

 :

Miss Plum was running toward him, her gown practically falling off her, as if it hadn't been fastened all the way up in back. She didn't seem at all concerned with the idea that she was giving him, and anyone else, an eyeful of her chemise, corset, and...charms-probably because she was running as if her very life depended on it, holding up the skirt of her dress as she flew ever closer to him, the lifting of that skirt giving him an unobstructed view of legs that were well turned out and feet that were...bare.
"Don't just stand there, Mr. Haverstein. Do something about your goat," she yelled as she pounded past him.
The word goat had him looking down the hallway, and sure enough, a goat was charging his way, and not just any goat, but Geoffrey--one of the meanest goats Bram had ever had the misfortune of owning.
What the beast of doing insdie the castle, he really couldn't say, but since Geoffrey held an intense dislike for females, or more specifically, females wearing dresses, Bram surged into motion, hoping to intercept the goat before it managed to catch up with Miss Plum.
Unfortunately, Geoffrey seemed determined to get past Bram, so with a butt of its head, it sent Bram sprawling and continued charging after its prey, bleating in a menacing sort of way.

•••••••

FUN TIMES :-)

We find out the mystery at he end of the book, but I can't tell you if it was ghosts or people putting on a show. I did enjoy the atmosphere of the book and good ole Geoffrey!

This is a delightfully funny, yet meaningful story.

Jen Turano quickly made her way onto my favorite authors list and this book is a prime example of why. She writes such fun, quirky characters who never fail to make me laugh... and think. And she also weaves into her stories meaningful truths and relatable moments that make her stories even better.

I have enjoyed all of Jen's books, especially this series ( A Class of Their Own ), but this book is one of my favorites, I think. There is humor, romance, mystery, history, action... There are wonderful characters and terrific dialogue. What's not to like?

The characters in Jen's books are all so well-written, too, that my imagination has no trouble whatsoever picturing them. A couple favorites in this particular book are: Mr. Skukman (who could not like him?!) and Abigail (she is such a hoot!).

And the ending?! Anyone who has read the previous books in this series will just love how this one ends! If you're anything like me, you've been waiting for this final scene-- hoping that it would come... fearing that it never would...

I only have one real complaint: the last scene at the theater was just a bit weird for my taste. It didn't really appeal to my imagination at all and, honestly, it felt more than a little awkward. However, it's not enough to knock a star off my 5-star rating, so no worries there! ;D

I'm super excited to see what Jen Turano will come up with next. Some thrilling tale where madness rules the day, until that madness is struck down by a bullet, and good perseveres over evil? Perhaps. ;)

REALLY good!!! I love this book! At first, when my sister recommended it to me, I wasn't so sure. But as soon as I read it!! WOW! I couldn't put it down!!! Some of the parts had me laughing my head off and some parts had me sighing and smiling and the rest had me sitting on the edge of my seat!!

Official Review:
This was my first novel by Jen Turano. Why I have not reviewed it yet? I have no idea. It has been on my list to be reviewed; I just haven’t written about it until now!
Anyway, this is my favorite Jen Turano novel to date! The hilarity of it is amazing! I have never read a book that is quite like this. Sure, there are books filled with amusement and such, but I have never come across something quite like this book!
Lucetta and Bram are wonderful characters! My favorite scene in the entire novel is when Bram is carrying Lucetta up the stairs after she fainted. I couldn’t stop laughing! Most novels have it where the heroes of the story can pick up the heroine like she weighed only a feather. This book was not like that. I mean, not all guys are beasts and not all girls are size two (and that is okay with me). This story portrayed that fact.

This cover is one of my favorites out of all of Jen’s books. I have looked through pretty much all of her covers, and, to be honest, not many of them are my favorite. But! This one is definitely really pretty! I am going to give it 5 stars!

This novel definitely deserves 5 stars! I couldn’t put it down, and I definitely recommend it to everyone and anyone!

Playing the Part is the third book I’ve read by Jen Turano; the first two being her debut novel and the free accompanying novella that went before it. From that point in my life, I knew she’s kept writing books, but I also started getting my own book contracts and having babies at the same time! So I haven’t had nearly as much reading time!

Although Jen and I both write historical romance, hers would definitely be categorized as including almost what would be considered slapstick humor compared to what I write. However, there are readers out there who want a little bit of everything, so that’s okay. From what I’d heard early on about Playing the Part, it sounded interesting and like something I wanted to try.

I did end up enjoying this book more than her debut—and I know there are about five or so books in there that she’s written in between then and now—and I do believe the other reviewers who have mentioned that it is her best book yet. It was very entertaining, the characters are well-matched, believable and the romance was sweet. With a fine mix of intrigue and humor, this book has just the right balance—as the author has proven before—and will delight a huge range of readers.

A sweet finish to the A Class of Their Own series. While not as comical as the second in the series, it was a satisfying read. The focus of Playing the Part is Lucetta and Bram. As usual Abigail is up to her match making fun.

3.5 stars, my favourite of this series!

After my very mixed experiences with After a Fashion and In Good Company, I approached Playing the Part a little more cautiously, waiting for the right time when I was in the mood for brushing off historical inaccuracies and extreme silliness and just enjoy the comedic romance for the escapist fun it's supposed to be.

I did quite enjoy myself with this one. It's loads of fun, improbable and impossible though it all is, but at this point, that's kind of the point of Jen Turano's novels, isn't it? I don't know if it's just me and my reading preferences evolving a bit, or if her works have gotten even more on the silly and ridiculous side since the Ladies of Distinction series, but it seems as though the wild ride aspect of her novels is decidedly wild now.

I remember a pet pig and a shotgun-wielding-mom-at-a-ball in A Match of Wits, but here we have an actual castle with literal suits of armor walking about, an enraged goat who chases the heroine out of said castle, a crazed lunatic in hot pursuit of the heroine, and endless layers of secrets and bruised family relationships that naturally all get sorted out in typical Turano fashion - that is, with a lot of theatrics, stuttering and sputtering, and ladies in disguise proclaiming they don't need men (and most certainly NOT the hero) to help save the day.

It's light-hearted and humorous if a bit eye-rolling at times, but the dialogue's razor-sharp wit and the sweet romance were very much worth it. I mean, Bram Haverstein is everything.

I can't remember the last Christian romance I read where the hero already had feelings for the heroine. Gosh it was SO DARN CUTE. Not only was Bram literal perfection - as in, completely unreal, way to good to be true, yet flawed and human all the same - but his little crush on Lucetta was the most adorable thing ever and it was refreshing to read a romance like that where the hero wasn't automatically prejudiced against the independent, willful heroine. <3 Also, swoon-worthy kisses. Just sayin'.

I found the plot overall a bit odd, there was a weird mix of nonsensical plot points and serious elements that clashed a lot sometimes, especially since so many important "reveal" scenes that should've been dramatic fell rather flat. For some reason, characters in this book liked to have important discussions/arguments in public or in front of several other key characters, which in itself was a bit weird, but what was weirder was that those scenes always played out as though they were alone...Like the bit where Lucetta and her mother have this super-long-overdue unloading of feelings and exposing Nigel's villainy...right in front of Nigel himself, and several other people that really shouldn't be there for that...but no one says anything and the reader all but forgets that they're in a roomful of people.

It could be that it's a deliberate choice on the author's part, since her novels often feel like plays in many ways, and as such she's trying to portray the listening characters as the audience and the main characters as the actors on stage, but I don't know, it feels very off to me, and honestly it made those scenes really anticlimactic. I think it would be much funnier and add a lot to the comedy if those "serious" scenes were interrupted by various interjections from the other characters. I mean, the drama levels in this story are sky-high, so it would make a lot more sense.

An as someone who finds grand romantic gestures and public love declarations extremely cringe, I wasn't a huge fan of the proposal scene, but it was made worse because it was done in front of an apparently stone silent public...were people not at least cheering or wooping when .

Cute and fun book, witty veering on the ridiculous, but for what it's worth it's really good, and certainly perfect escapism. Sometimes you just need a book that doesn't really make you think, but just takes you on a good old comedic ride.

This the third book in the A Class of Your Own series focuses on Lucetta Plum one of the three young women who found their way into new lives by their own fortitude and passions. Lucetta is now a famous actress in New York. But fame comes with its price which for Lucetta is an overabundance of male suitors as well as a stalker. This is my favorite of this three book series. Full of unique characters, a touch of gothic, a tad of mystery, a speck of humor and a sweet, clean romance, it's definitely an "I can't put it down" book.

I loved the quirkiness of Bram as he hid his secret from his family, friends, and Lucetta in his definitely Gothic castle! Filled with a remarkable staff, a conglomeration of interesting, cast-off animals, and a definitely different dungeon, this was a perfect setting for all the goings on that took place in Lucetta's attempt to hide from her stalker. The conclusion was spot on for all the antics that took place with a humorous but sweet ending.

Good clean historical fiction romance to conclude this delightful series.

FAVORITE QUOTES: "Reverend Gilmore....once told me that he believes God puts people on certain paths. And when you cross paths with a person who is in need, and you have the solution to that need, well, God expects you to put that solution to use."

"Life is too short to hold on to grievances that don't really matter."

"....it was clear to her now that God, in His infinite wisdom and eve with her being less than attentive to Him, had steered her exactly where she needed to be steered, allowing her to reconcile with her past and set aside the hurts from that past, in order to finally accept the love of a fine gentleman, a gentleman who only expected her to play the part she'd been born to play--the part of her true self."

Jen Turano is one of my favorite authors and she does not disappoint in this book. This is book 3 in the series A Class of Their Own, but it can be read as a stand-alone. However, if you read the first two you'll get a more in depth idea of who Lucetta is.

I loved the setting of this book. A "haunted", foreboding, Gothic looking castle with a real life moat. What could be a better setting for an actress who needs to hide away for her safety and a mysterious, somewhat eccentric gentleman of means and his motley staff who are reformed thieves and down-and-outers? LOL What ensues is mysteriously fun and laugh out loud situations that will keep you glued to the pages.

I enjoyed the developing relationship between Bram and Lucetta. Bram has preconceived ideas about Lucetta and is delightfully shocked when she proves him wrong from the time she steps foot on his property. Lucetta is drawn to Bram right away but is reluctant to give up the control she believes she has to maintain over her emotions and life as a result of her occupation and her many admirers.

If you've read the first two books, you'll also enjoy the appearances of Abigail Hart & Archibald Addleshaw as well as mentions of Lucetta's dear friends, Harriet & Millie.

All in all, this book will keep you enthralled as you unravel the mystery, wait for the danger to pass, and enjoy the sweet romances.

Playing the Part by Jen Turano

What a fun book. From an amazing cast of players to their hysterical dialog and amusing interactions. It's been such a long time since I've read a Jen Turano book, but this brought back how funny her books are. I laughed out loud a number of times. My favorite scene started with a cannon going off causing Bram and Lucetta to end up in a moat (several times). The fun continued when Bram picked her up after she "swooned". Thinking her unconscious the whole time, he carried her all over the castle to get her to her a room his housekeeper prepared in the tower. After carrying her down long, long halls, through ridiculously huge rooms, having climbed dozens of tower steps (and by this time sweating profusely), she finally told him he could put her down. Surprised, he asked why she didn't say something earlier.
“Quite honestly, I was going to tell you to put me down right about step number forty-nine, but then you made that remark about how sturdy I am, and . . . I changed my mind.”
“I said that out loud?”
“Indeed.”
“I do beg your pardon.”

There were lots of these that just made me guffaw.

The book's characters are some of the best I've read this year. Grandmother Abigail Hart was a kick and Lucetta's bodyguard was always ready to defend her from anything, wearing suits with a variety of pockets containing whatever was needed at the time. Lucetta herself was one of the most interesting. A character I loved from the start!

A great quick evening read I can recommend to anyone.

Jen's best yet!

Yes. I have read ALL of her books. She's my go-to author. I think besides her first book, A Change of Fortune, this one is her best so far. I loved her first book so much because of the author's originality in her writing. I had not experienced this kind of slapstick, hilarity ever, so to me it was so refreshing to hear a new "voice" in the writing world. Thankfully, all of her books have the same flavor of comedy and skillfulness in writing that keeps me coming back for seconds and thirds and on.

Yes, there were a few of smirk out loud moments. At times, the plot was a little predictable, but the journey to the end is the roller coaster ride, through the ups and downs, that keeps you screaming and laughing out for more and more. The characters are over-the-top and I loved them all. The point of reading books like these are to maybe find small traits of each character in yourself or people you know, but I want to experience eccentric, playful, strong "characters" that take me out of reality and into their world of non-stop antics. This is a full ensemble, group effort, that is a complete three book series of a well, thought out adventure.

I am excited for the author's next Wallflower series that already puts ideas into my head of the craziness that will ensue. Can not wait!

Ahhh. Just like every other novel written by Jen Turano, “Playing the Part” was very witty and cute. This one is very bittersweet, though, (like “A Match of Wits”) having to say goodbye to these funny and loving characters. (How do y’all authors do this?!) I really liked Lucetta, she was perfectly written in that calm, cool & collected air you would expect her to have. Bram was sweet and caring, like all the other heroes in this author’s other books. I saw the plot twist coming and man, I was so excited about it! The ending was great and I loved seeing characters from the previous books in this series come back.
Truth be told, I’m rounding to four stars, but I really wish there was more Spiritual Content. Hopefully, her future books will have more. :)

Lucetta Plum is the darling of the New York stage. When her stepfather offers her up as payment for his outstanding gambling debts, Lucetta has no choice but to abandon her starring role and seek shelter at the estate of the grandson of her widowed friend, Abigail Hart. Since Lucetta has no interest in Abigail's matchmaking schemes, she hopes to remain politely cordial to Bram Haverstein, Abigail's grandson and owner of the estate. Bram's eccentric in his own right, and is fascinated with a certain actress, yet his secrets could change the course of everything. As Lucetta and Bram get to know each other through a series of misadventures, both realize that it's time to drop the roles they've assumed and play the parts that they were meant to play.

I loved this book! I knew going in to expect humorous situations, but I was literally giggling through the entire book. Of the ones in this series, I think that this one is my favorite.

Bram and Lucetta's first meeting isn't all that normal. I mean, she's tossed in the moat of his castle! Plus there are walking suits of armor, a skirt eating goat, and a ton of other misadventures that the pair face. I loved their chemistry and their interactions.

I also loved the secondary characters. Some of them really stole the show. Plus it was good to catch up with Millie and Harriet.

Overall, this book was very light-hearted and delightful.

I received this book for free from Bethany House for the purpose of reviewing. My thoughts and opinions are my own.

With her trademark humor firmly in place, Jen Turano crafts a novel with shades of both the gothic and the hilarious as the fitting final act to her A Class of Their Own series. A misfit band of secondary characters elicit the majority of the laughs in Playing the Part, their easy-to-envision antics stealing several scenes. Familiarly beloved friends from the previous two books in the series also take the stage, and fans of matchmaking matron Abigail Hart will delight in uncovering more of her past, present, and future. Delicious, sweet romance – tempered with a grain of snark – and undertones of suspense round out the ensemble perfectly. Readers who’ve been with the series since After A Fashion (and if you haven’t, you really must) will be fondly satisfied with the epilogue – the curtain call, if you will, for this truly entertaining cast of characters. I highly recommend this series – and Playing the Part – to any fans of historical fiction, to anyone who loves to laugh, and to anyone who’s ever struggled to fit into someone else’s expectations for them.

If you like the setting for Dawn Crandall’s Everstone Chronicles series, you will love this A Class of Their Own series too. If you are a fan of the type of humor found in Kristan Higgins’ books – even though she writes contemporary for the general market – you should really give Jen Turano a try as well. Fans of Mary Connealy and Deeanne Gist will also find themselves right at home with Jen’s style.

I could just say "Bram." but I suppose I should give an actual review.
I was beyond excited when "Playing the Part" arrived in my mailbox! Jen's novels are always brilliant, with something new in each, as well as the familiar wit and unique characters of the previous works. One-of-a-kind, and never disappointing.
The setting takes us from high society New York, to a gothic castle (complete with moat and suits of armor), all the way to sweet-tea-sipping Virginia; from stuffy, to chilly, to warm- vivid through and through.
The reclusive above mentioned Bram Haverstein is an endearing hero; the perfect gentleman and full of surprises. His rag-tag staff that maintain his castle and the mystery that surrounds it create the perfect stage for a romantic comedy.
Miss Lucetta Plum is at the height of her quirky elegance, while her tough and independent shell are slowly cracked with each peculiar and humorous scenario she lands herself in.
Abigail will always maintain a special place in my literary family, and Mr Skukman is the ideal bodygaurd. New faces take the stage, bringing both frustration and delight to this fun story.
I missed the constant presence of Harriet and Millie to complete the crazy trio and provide their share of laughs, but alls well that ends well and they could never leave their dear friend to have all the adventures without them.
With a fast-moving plot, engaging characters, and a highly original ending, Turano's latest novel is a must-read for all Christian fiction/romantic comedy fans! (And if you're not, this just might make you one!)

Lucetta Plum is a popular actress in New York and when a fan’s interest turns obsessive, an elderly friend, Abigail Hart, sweeps her off to a remote estate owned by Bram Haverstein, who just happens to be Abigail’s handsome grandson. Lucetta has no intention of becoming romantically involved with anyone, let alone the mysterious and secretive Bram. Abigail is a crafty matchmaker though and is sure these two are meant for each other.

It’s hard to come up with new ways to describe a Jen Turano book. Jen is exceptional at writing comedy interlaced with suspense and faith. Talk about a great twist to the story, I was intrigued with the mystery surrounding Bram and totally surprised when it was revealed. Playing the Part had me laughing out loud many times but then that’s a given with Turano’s stories. You’re always in for a fun ride!

There’s much more to the story; especially Lucetta’s back story. I sure didn’t see any of that coming. Fascinating plot twists, action and suspense, humor and faith all equal a Top Ten Read of 2016 in my book!

Playing the Part is the third and final book in A Class of Their Own series. Now, I’m sure some will say you can read them in any order as there is enough back story to give the reader a pretty solid foundation, but… my advice is to read them in order to get the full enjoyment these stories bring.

I want to thank Bethany House for providing me a copy of the book for review purposes. No compensation has been received.

I’ve been looking forward to reading Lucetta’s story. Playing the Part is the third book in a series, but it does stand alone just fine if you haven’t read the previous novels. As with the other books in this series, I laughed out loud quite a few times while reading this novel. It was refreshing and fun to watch the escapades of the men and women who worked at the castle for Bram Haverstein. I also really liked the personalities of Lucetta and Bram. I so enjoyed the scenes they were in together in the story, especially the various misunderstandings.

I was impressed with the way that the author handled the serious situation of Lucetta being stalked by a dangerous man. The topic was treated as important and concerning, yet the story line was still able to have Jen Turano’s trademark humor. I thought the castle setting was fun. I was happy to see characters from the earlier books return for small roles. I loved the way Bram stood up for and defended Lucetta when needed and enjoyed the way the author wrapped up this series.

Lucetta is a famous actress...but she is not on stage for almost the entire book as a sudden threat enters the scene in the first chapter. Abigail is certain that her grandson's castle is the fortress to protect Lucetta, but the day she arrives, Lucetta is almost killed several times. Is the castle truly going to keep her safe?

What I liked:
The style so had me laughing! Mrs. Turano certainly has a gift when it comes to witty scenes and just making them humorous. The story kept a steady pace moving forward.

What I didn't like:
There were a few things that could have been left out--like the description of Lucetta's clothing when she was running from the goat. The scene would have been complete without drawing our minds to how her dress slipped when she wasn't paying attention. Also, I can hardly consider this a Christian book, according to my standard. God was mentioned 3-4 times and then it was only in passing or a character realizing that their relationship with God wasn't as it should be. No continuing spiritual theme could be seen in this book.

It's not a book that I WOULDN'T recommend...it was indeed enjoyable. I just don't wholeheartedly endorse it as a spiritually edifying book.

It has been far too long since I read a historical romantic comedy such as this refreshingly light read from Jen Turano, the third book in her A Class of Their Own series.

Oh, the hijinks and lessons learned in and amongst the romance of Lucetta and Bram. Two formidably quirky characters who unwittingly met their match in one another which only set the sparks of attraction flying all the more. In and amidst the truly memorable secondary characters such as Lucetta's body guard and Bram's grandmother.

There is a sort of whimsy to Turano's sharp wit that only colors every word with a vibrancy that causes the story as a whole to pop off the page and leave a happy, bright impression.

If you need an escape back in time to the Victorian era with matchmaking grandmothers, a motley crew of a mansion staff and a hero that at first vaguely reminded me of Phantom of the Opera--look no further than Playing the Part. I guarantee you will laugh and smile through out this fantastic novel.

I enjoyed reading this screwball comedy. This was a fun, laugh-out-loud book with a gothic castle setting. I adored Bram. The name choice was perfect for two reasons, one of which was that it made me think of spooky castles and horror. I loved the ; it was funny and certainly unique. The book had a satisfying series ending. I do believe this was my favorite book by J Turano. Now I'm sad because I've read all of her books and have to wait until next year to read a new one.

Edited 11 months later: I hardly ever buy a book that I can get at my local library, and I almost never buy a book that I've already read, especially since I don't do much rereading. I saw that the Kindle version of this is on sale, so I bought it. I want to read this again, and I'd rather have my own copy than have to get it from the library again. I also changed my rating from 4 stars/4.44 to five stars.

Maybe more like 3.5? Not sure. But overall, this was fun! I liked the castle setting, and it was great what Bram's occupation turned out to be...which I had already decided on before it was revealed. ;)

Funny, cute, and insightful, this book definitely had me hooked. I love this entire series, and each character holds a special place in my heart. I really enjoyed how Lucetta learned to trust others and get help when she needed it, and it was cool discovering who Mr. Brimstone was ;) Great end to the series, and now, it's time to start binge reading some other Jen Turano books.

Hands down my absolute favourite Jen Turano novel! I snorted my way through this read, which is what happens when you gasp and snicker at the same time....kind of like a chortle on steroids.

In fact I was having way too much fun reading at the library and people kept staring at me every time I made an indelicate snort until finally one lady asked me what book I was reading and then another lady said, "I'm so glad you asked. I was wondering the same thing." So now Playing the Part has two holds on it. That's me doing my bit for Christian Fiction via a little public humiliation. :-)

So we have a goat named Geoffrey who takes exception to females wearing skirts, Igor, the shaggy mutt with selective hearing, a castle complete with moat and cannon and an odd assortment of staff who come with questionable histories. Just another run-of-the-mill historical romance. Not! More like award winning romantic comedy.

And our hero -- Bram...my toes still haven't uncurled. A recluse dodging matrimonial minded mamas and their simpering daughters. He has some delightful secrets that aren't revealed until well into the read. I do so love a man with an air of mystery. But what we know right from the start is what an old softie he is -- all tenderhearted and compassionate as he collects misfits of both the two-legged and four-legged variety and offers them a better life. I mean, how can you not fall for a man like that?!

Lucetta thinks she's immune -- she's one tough, stubborn, independent thinking woman! And she holds herself aloof from Bram's charms way longer than I was able to! Loved the witty dialogue, the misconceptions, the countless shenanigans and the downright sinister villain who tries to steal their happiness! This book delivers it all and will keep you grinning well after you reach the end!

I love Jen Turano's books for those times I want a fun, light historical romance. There is often a mystery interwoven in them, and this one is no different. Lucetta Plum is an actress who has no use for men. She's been taking care of herself since she was 13 and plans to do that until she dies. The fact that she's famous and wealthy doesn't hurt, until it leads a man to take an unnatural attraction to her. Bram Haverstein is a man of means who is nothing less than eccentric and a collector of those animals and people others don't want. The two are thrown together and the tension erupts in humorous dialogue and situations with a shadow of danger. Both have secrets, some more serious than others, but in the end what draws them together is more than the secrets that try to keep them apart. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel!

Jen Turano makes historical fiction light and laugh-out-loud funny.
Although I didn't connect with the characters in this book as much as I did the first two in the series, it's a great read.
Lucetta and Bram are both quirky, unique characters, especially given the genre of historical fiction.
The plot is fast and full of unpredictable and hilarious situations. Just when I thought the plot was wrapping up, the author put the characters in one more awkward twist.
Fans of Turano will enjoy the end of this series.
Fans of Christian historical fiction will love this fun addition to the genre.

That's a wrap for the trilogy A Class of Their Own by Jen Turano.

Lucetta Plum takes unannounced refuge at her friend's grandson's estate from a scrupulous stalker. Bram Haverstein is a collector of misfit characters and holds his own secrets.

Quirky cast of characters had me smiling throughout the book. I like how Lucetta is an assertive character and gently goes against the grain of stereotypical women of the time.

Jen Turano is definitely a new favorite author for me. She writes such vibrant characters that you just can't help falling in love with. They make me laugh!

I loved Stanley and all the staff of Ravenwood. I think Millie and Abigail are my absolute favorite characters. Millie really has no filter I find it quite hilarious.

You will definitely find me reading more Jen Turano in the future!!
