Gwyneth Kate Paltrow is an American actress.

The daughter of Bruce Paltrow and Blythe Danner, Paltrow dropped out of her university to follow an acting career. She began her career in theatre in 1990, and made her film debut the following year. Her early films include such successes as Se7en (1995), Emma (1996), in which she played the title role, and Sliding Doors (1998). Her performance in Shakespeare in Love (1998) brought her widespread recognition; she won the Academy Award for Best Actress, a Golden Globe Award and two Screen Actors Guild Awards, for Outstanding Lead Actress and as a member of the Outstanding Cast, among other awards and nominations.

She followed this success with roles in such films as The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) and Shallow Hal (2001). She also starred in the film Duets (2000), produced and directed by her father, Bruce Paltrow, and sang on two singles released from the film's soundtrack, which were hits in some countries. She received a nomination for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in Motion Picture Drama for Proof (2005). More recently she appeared in the box-office success Iron Man (2008).

Her personal life has often been scrutinized in the media; she dated Brad Pitt from 1995 until 1997, and married Chris Martin, the lead singer of British rock band Coldplay, in 2003. They are the parents of two children. Paltrow has commented that she curtailed her work commitments following the birth of her first child.

This book was received through the generosity of a Goodreads Giveaways, in exchange for this honest review.

I can semi-understand the negative backlash against Paltrow, since she seemingly has it all - but that's no need to hate on her cookbook! The book is beautifully designed, with copious (maybe even TOO many) full color photos - lots of the yummy looking food, but just as many 'arty' scenic pictures, and even more of Paltrow and her children. But I suppose if you are buying a celebrity cookbook, that is what you want. As the title implies, most of the recipes are fairly simple and quick to prepare, although some have a few exotic ingredients most folk won't have readily to hand. All of the recipes are health minded, and mainly are vegetarian and gluten free. My main complaint is that a lot of the recipes are TOO simplistic, and pretty much no-brainers. Do we really need Paltrow to teach us how to make grilled cheese (with two ingredients - cheese and bread!) or Ginger Lemon tea (ginger, lemon, honey and hot water!)? For $35, I am not so sure anyone NEEDS this - but it isn't the most egregious example of branding I've seen.

I feel guilty saying I "read" this when I really just skimmed through the recipes. I normally avoid celebrity cookbooks, but I'd heard some good reviews about it and figured I'd give it a shot. Meh. The premise of the book is that all the recipes all take under 30 minutes to prepare. Okay, that's something I need. But then the very first picture in the breakfast section was an acai smoothie bowl that looked completely unappetizing. And it went downhill from there. Every third page is a picture of Gwyneth wearing a sweater, holding a bowl of soup, and looking wistfully out of a window (usually with rain). Sometimes it's a picture with her kids on a picnic. Sometimes Gwyneth is grocery shopping. But mostly it's about her sweaters. The one recipe that did look good, the szechuan-style green beans, had ingredients I couldn't pronounce and had never heard of. I cannot see myself going to the local Winn Dixie and asking someone for sambal oelek. In short, the grocery list made me feel like a poor idiot and the few pictures of the prepared dishes did not look like something I'd whip up on a Thursday night.

Some of these reviews are crazy. You shouldn't judge a book by its author. If so many people on here don't like Gwyneth Paltrow ... Why did they sign up to win/buy her cookbook? Why let your dislike for her change your star rating? Silly. The recipes all sound delicious. I'm looking forward to trying many of them very soon. I love that they are more healthy options, but I took away a star because the title of the book may be a little misleading. Not all of these recipes are easy and most people wouldn't have the necessary items at home and ready to use. Check out this book if you are looking for a heath conscious cookbook, with unique options! *I won this book from a goodreads giveaway.

While this is supposed to be super easy meals, I find they were too simplistic.
It was a lot of oversimplified items throughout the book, almost making it feel patronizing?
I was hoping more for easy recipes to make ahead or things you could make one day and would be able to turn the leftovers into something else.
Perhaps that was my fault going in blind, but with expectations already in my head.
As someone who reads a lot of cook books it wasn't what I hoped for.

It is not all easy. It is annoying and classist and I should've known better.

Lawd help me with this book. Not one but THREE avocado toast reciped. I know Gwynnie promised easy, but when we get a written recipe for "pita pizza", I feel as if we've crossed into satire. Lovely photographs of Gwyneth in a variety of oversized sweaters in a late morning light, and the recipes are all so short they definitely fit on one page.

I hate-read this book from the library. The title was too good to pass up. None of the recipes in the book are going to surprise you if you've ever cooked anything, still not sure how educational it is. Great pictures and high eye rolling potential. Recommended for anyone who likes making fun of GOOP.

I really don't know why I bother with her things. She's on another planet. Definitely in another economic time zone of "rich girl." Born rich, married rich, staying rich. The very very in the latest quirky foods to eat in small portions and guaranteed to get you a vote on "oddest" pantry and refrigerator shelves." Just what the kids want for breakfast. Acai bowl. Drop in guests? How about some grilled squid, white bean and fennel salad? Something sweet? Coconut puddings with Kuzu. Two tablespoons of kuzu root. No twist of lime for this girl.

I don't know why a white celebrity should get a credit (and money) for the recipes which are mostly belonging to Asian culture. Not even acknowledging that fact...

Since going gluten, dairy and processed foods free, which I have had to do for health reasons, cooking has been somewhat of a challenge. Especially those times when I've had an epically difficult day and I'm tired and stressed and hungry. There I stand in front of the cupboard or fridge and think, damn, what the hell am I going to make for dinner today? In the times before ridding my diet of gluten, dairy and processed foods it might have been macaroni and cheese with wieners (don't judge, it was delicious and comforting!) But now, I have to make virtually everything by scratch and I've had to learn to think very differently about food and how to nurture my body with the foods I eat. No more macaroni and wieners!

Paltrow's new cookbook is very much in keeping with how I'm eating today but with a few new things I can easily add to my repertoire ( cannot wait to try the Socca Pizzas and the Coconut Key Lime Tarts!) and with interesting twists to switch up what I'm already cooking. What took this cookbook to a 5 star rating though was her chapter on desserts which are all gluten, dairy and refined sugar free. One thing I have found with cookbooks (which I love, love, love to read!) is a sparsity of desserts that fit all of my dietary restrictions and this is one of the first I've come across that does. I also loved the chapter on recipes for basic foods which are typically bought in the supermarket for convenience but taste so much better when homemade.

One of the criticisms that I've come across a lot is that there are too many exotic and pricey ingredients with Paltrow's books. I didn't find this to be true other than the truffle oil which I had thought might be too dear a price to buy though I have become a true convert to paying more for good quality ingredients as in so many ways my eating has become much simpler. If you are someone who finds the idea of Furikake or Matcha Tea too intimidating or exotic then this book is probably not for you ( though there are much more simple, recognizable recipes like chicken piccata and Carbonara) but if, like me, you appreciate healthy recipes and new ways of preparing them then this book might just be what you're looking for.

I received a copy of thin nice cook-book through Goodreads giveaway.
I appreciate the professional photography, beautifully designed, the colors, food photography and of course Gwyneth Paltrow herself. Some recipes I found easy to make and fun.

It's all easy? Not so much. This book presents recipes that make healthy, conscious eating seem an impossibly daunting task for those of us who don't live in a metropolitan city like L.A. where obscure international food items are able to be found. The one section that did contain truly "easy" recipes for a "super-busy home cook", featured dishes like grilled cheese and mini pita bread pizzas - things I learned how to make back in 6th grade, and which are certainly not going to satiate my family of 5 for a weeknight dinner. I truly did not find one recipe I was excited to try, which is very rare when I peruse a cookbook.

I wasn't sure what to expect of Gwenyth Paltrow's latest cookbook offering. I knew it was supposed to be short, easy recipes, but how do you draw a line between oversimplified and a truly innovative recipe?

It's All Easy walks this line extremely well. You may quibble about whether avocado toast requires a recipe, but did you think to combine almond butter, avocado and bacon together? I didn't think so.

I've seen a few thinkpieces testing how quick these recipes are and most of them really ARE fast. There are helpful time lengths next to several of the fastest to assist you with picking something out if you're rushed for time. As always with GP's cookbooks, there's also a pantry section listing a number of items you can helpfully have on hand to streamline the process of using this cookbook.

There are a few out of touch items (finding grocery items next to the agar agar - how many people even know what agar agar is?), but overall they presented as options, not requirements, and this makes using It's All Easy a much friendlier option than GP's previous cookbooks. In many ways I think this ought to have been her first book and the rest to follow, but as it sits I'm glad she wrote this.

I'll definitely be stealing a few of these recipes to have on hand (clams and several of the noodle recipes seem like total winners), as we can all use inspiration to cook more at home. GP's point that it's actually faster (and of course healthier) to cook for yourself if your pantry is stocked is a good one and will hopefully inspire me to save some cash and stop falling into the takeout track. I encourage anyone trying to do more home cooking or who is intimidated by cooking to pick this up and give it a try. It's a really great start for busy people and will refresh ideas for the most monotonous dinnertime routine.

It's pretty hard to take this book seriously when both authors are totally pretentious. GP shouldn't use words like 'skillz' and the assumption that everyone has a Vitamix is a little bit much.

The recipes are easy - some almost too much. I had to laugh when she claimed to have invented the pita pizza - I ate that every day from 6th-8th grade (which was not recent). I did think that some of the breakfasts were useful, and everything is very healthy.

I liked all the photos of the food. I could have lived with a few less photos of GP and her kids. There is actually a picture in here of a chair piled so high with pillows that you couldn't sit on it. Why is that in a cookbook?

Two kinds of people should check this out. If you're really a follower of the GP lifestyle (and own a Vitamix), this will give you some super healthy, very easy recipes to follow.

Otherwise, I'd recommend checking this out of the library and having a chuckle over how the other half lives, how much spare time GP must have and maybe making a few healthy tweaks to your weeknight repertoire.

I don't know why many people hate Gwyneth Paltrow, I actually love her. She is the modern Grace Kelly: she is beautiful, effortless, classy and seems so European and sophisticated. Her food and taste in everything is the same.

I have all her cooking books! I bought this one from Amman as well; 2016 is the year of great cookbooks! This one is REALLY amazing! Not only are the photos so refreshing and absolutely beautiful but the recipes are so easy!

Gwyn has her way around the kitchen, she understands what 'delicious' means, because it's so hard to find good healthy recipes that taste amazing as well. Most of them are bland, but not hers.

I liked her first cook book, saved some of those recipes actually! Really was looking forward to the easier ideas for busy home cook, as the book title suggest but come on? By easy she means so easy that it's questionable whether you need a recipe. This book dedicates at least three pages to building a parfait! The granola recipe, sure but 3 pages of different combinations? This book keeps true to the author's prior style of including healthier substitutions and hard to find (out side of LA or NYC) ingredients on some of her recipes so don't think it's all easy in the ingredients section. The pictures of Paltrow and her children are beautiful, sure. There are some interesting things with noodles and Asian inspired foods but not enough to make this book worth my money. If you want to know how to build parfaits, mix things into your avocado to spread on toast, make pita pizza or black bean soup, then run and get this, but if you already know how to do these things--keep your money and continue your search for a cookbook worthy of shelf space in your kitchen or counter.

First of all the title is misleading, it's not all easy because my grocery store does not carry some of these ingredients, without me going to the specialty stores, then second, what the heck, is this a glamour photography book?? I want recipes (ok pictures of food is appetizing) but half the book is full page pictures of her and her kids in fancy photo shoot poses.
As for recipes, there is some that I do want to try. I was surprised her tomato sauce recipe is actually kind of bland but kid friendly. I like the Falafel recipe (think I will like that one) and black bean soup!
What I do like about this actress is that she is fascinated by food, especially healthy food. That is never a bad thing!

In the introduction of her book Gwyneth states that "Easy implies a lack of complications or obstacles." Therefore, I fully expected these recipes to be easy. Unfortunately there are many ingredients that I would need to go out of my way to a specialty store or order online. When it comes to preparing dinner I don't consider that easy! I didn't even make a single dish from this cookbook.

My View:
A versatile, quick to make, collection of recipes that use quality fresh ingredients to produce tasty and interesting meals. There is nothing boring here. “This book is meant to be a road map: a self-help book for the chronically busy cook….All the food in this book tends to be on the healthier side ( see the gluten free, diary free dessert section section), we have also included recipes with more standard ingredients ( some cheese, some regular flour) because, well, it’s just easier. And because we never sacrifice deliciousness, some of the recipes might have an extra step or a special ingredient that might not seem easy, but trust us, it is worth it… Our aim is here was to make… a book full of recipes that are beautiful and sometimes times unexpected, while also comforting, satisfying, and realistic for anyone and everyone to make ” ( pps. Ix -xi)

The authors give a useful “pantry” section that includes ingredients and tools for cooking the foods in this book, then divides the book into useful guides for:
First thing (breakfasts)
On the Go
Pick Me Ups
In a Pinch
Cozy Evenings
Summer Knights
Unexpected Guests
Something Sweet
The Basics.

I love the breakfast suggestions here – Blueberry Granola Parfait, breakfast crepes, chocolate cinnamon overnight oats, ginger chia pudding and scrambled eggs with parmesan and arugula (rocket) to name a few.

To impress your dinner guests try this quick delicious main meal; seared scallops with watercress and asparagus - quick, tasty and impressive dish, your guests will think you have slaved in the kitchen for hours!

A beautifully presented cook book with more than a few recipes that will become your all time favourites.

Pros: This cookbook took me by surprise. The recipes feel tested, which seems hard to come by these days. And for an experienced home cook, these recipes are easy. All of them have smart shortcuts that don't sacrifice results, and I really value that.

Cons: This cookbook doubles as a portfolio of Gwenyth Paltrow glamour shots. There must be just as many photos of her morning coffee ritual, her beach-combing finds, her bicycle, her shopping spree, etc. as there are of actual recipes. Also, how many actual recipes did GP write as opposed to Thea Baumann (Goop food editor with casual mention on the book cover and random casual day-to-day photos within the book)?

No, thank you: I didn't find a single recipe I didn't like.

More, please: Pan bagnat (Who knew olive oil-packed canned tuna was so good? This sandwich was classic and flavor-packed and delightful.); chicken wonton soup (The brilliant time-saver: amazing, aromatic meatballs with strips of wonton noodles instead of actual wontons.); grilled chicken chopped salad (So healthy, delicious, and filling.); falafel + spring fattoush salad (Two separate recipes paired seamlessly with definite make-again potential.)

You've heard of a book club well this book was our latest cookbook club choice. A club where we read and discuss a cookbook by trying recipes.

Well that cookbook was interesting. On a positive we did enjoy some of the recipes...some. But those good meals were overshadowed by those we didn't like. Some were very rich in flavor at times to make it unappetizing. The dishes ended up being very salty also. Also we realized as soon as we picked up the cookbook last month we are not in the right audience for this cookbook being in small town in Wisconsin. Where are you going to find pea shoots? Even our big grocery stores didn't carry that product. However we did find the humor in the middle of the book with the possible publisher joke. Everything in the book was either gluten free, vegan, or no sugar. Then hidden in the middle of the book was two recipes which were basic that everyone knows how to make like a pita pizza which called for all store bought ingredients even the sauce. Almost everyone can make a homemade sauce better than a canned sauce.

During the meeting we tried the Moroccan chicken salad wrap, beet chips, carbonara, nicoise petrale sole (aka white fish in paper), coconut key lime tarts and two chefs made the tortilla soup noodle pot.

I have REALLY enjoyed this cookbook. It definitely lives up to it's title - the recipes are all easy and delicious. The presentation in the cook book is beautiful, I love reading the short anecdotes and the photography.

I have two daughter (2 and 4) and they enjoy the recipes from this book. I really love that there vegetarian, vegan, low sugar and other options in this cook book, but it's not super strict - there are plenty of recipes that include eggs, meat, etc. (along with substitution ideas if you need them).

Some of my favorite features are the creative and delicious salad recipes. We love the asian noodle recipes (the Singapore Rice Noodles are always a hit). Just this morning, we had the crepes recipe.

The only reason I give this 4 instead of 5 stars is that it includes a lot of specialized ingredients that are delicious, but can be expensive and hard to come by. It can be hard to come up with a substitution when you're in a hurry!

Nevertheless, if you want to eat delicious food that is also nutritious and don't want to devote the rest of your life to preparing food, this is a great go-to cook book!

Well, didn't know what Vegenaise and tamari were until reading this cookbook but I'll defenitely be trying the Singapore Rice Noodles with tamari (Japanese soy sauce). Not so much on the Vegenaise (vegan mayo). There is a Cauliflower Mac n' Cheese and a Ginger Carrot Soup that look yummy too. Beautiful pictures although too many of Paltrow.

Checked this out because I was curious. Photography was pretty, but there were a lot of ingredients listed in the recipes that I could not find in my local grocery store. Found that frustrating. Made me kind of irritable as I was looking over the recipes. Returned this to the library pretty quickly, consequently.
