Georgia Ames is a tough-as-nails park ranger hired to protect the mountains where three crews of registered bear shifters call home. The only problem is she’s terrified of bears after a year in Alaska going head-to-head with the notoriously aggressive Kodiak grizzlies. She swore up and down she’d never work around brown bears again, yet here she is, pledging to protect the crews at all costs. When she meets a dark-eyed, growly stranger with a tendency to talk to himself, she wants to know more about what makes him tick. But the more she gets to know Jason of the Gray Backs, the more danger her life is in.
Jason Trager is just trying to get from one day to the next without his inner bear going mad. Haunted by his past, he toes the line between clarity and insanity. But when he meets Georgia, a curvy human who puts all his ghosts to rest, he becomes desperate to keep her around just to feel normal for a little while. Sure, she’s a beautiful distraction, but the more he gets to know her, the more he wishes he could be more than a fling to her. A woman like Georgia deserves more than a half-mad shifter and a crew of battling Gray Backs. And even if she could survive his people, her very existence in his territory paints a target on her back.
Now, they’ll both have to decide if being together is worth risking her life.

This was probably my least favorite in this series so far....but that doesn't mean it was bad. I just didn't get a good feel for the heroine. It had too much of insta-love feel to it. I'll still continue this series though.
I really enjoyed Jason and Georgia's story. Georgia was likable and down to earth and Jason was a gentle soul. Their relationship journey as a whole just gave me a happy feeling.
"Her crew was fierce. They fought like titans, but when it came down to it, they protected each other. They joked about being a broken crew, a C-team, but she didn't see that. Their flaws nade her Gray Backs beautiful."
"His strong, caring mate saw passed all his flaws and found the parts of him he'd thought he'd lost."
"This was falling in love without words. It was terrifying and exciting. It was butterflies and happiness and imaginings of a future that would stretch on and on. "
Book 3! I freaking loved Georgia. I liked all of her insecurities and the way she projected a strong image even when she wasn't feeling it. And the relationship between her and Jason - oh my....
Georgia is the new park ranger, hired by Jason's boss Damon. She is terrified of bears but makes herself introduce herself to the different bear shifter crews. Things get pear-shaped when she goes to the Gray Back Bears camp.
There's more, of course, poachers, a terrifying ghost and a love story.
Read it, like all of the others you won't be disappointed.
-Jason is a spirited, funny as all get out shifter. He has a secret that’s so deep T.S. Joyce didn’t give us a clue in any previous installments of this series. He’s being haunted. -Georgia is tougher than Joyce’s other female leads. *I just noticed on the book’s blurb she is described as tough-as-nails so I’m going to assume that’s Joyce’s take on a strong woman.* I wish she was much smarter. Anyway... -Beaston is still the sweetest nutbag ever. -The haunter deserved a better ending.
This will go down as one of my faves by this author. Sure wish she would get some of her books done in audio format! Jason (who wasn't at all interesting to me in previous books) turns out to have a dark secret. He is haunted... literally. In fact, the first time he meets Georgia (the new park ranger) she finds him arguing with said ghost, because he is going crazy. And his and Georgia's first meeting is OTT crazy but they can't stop thinking about each other. TSJ is great at fleshing out characters with depth in what is essentially only a novella. Georgia is cute and a bit shy. She's scared of bears but she doesn't let her fear stop her. In fact she's here to stop poaching on Damon's mountain. Which turns out to be a far more dangerous task than she had expected. Jason is the tortured hero with a romantic streak. And Beaston, what a nutty sweetheart!! So glad his book is next! Loved it!
I love how fierce this MFC is. She is kind and soft and uncertain in the area of relationships, but she kicks ass in other ways. The MMC says of her,
“I know enough. You just got your car jacked, but you came in here to offer me comfort. You faced your obvious fear of bears to introduce yourself that first night. You ride an ATV, drive a big old jacked-up Jeep, and have a connection with this land most humans can’t understand. You know how to use a weapon safely, and damn woman, you lookin’ sexy is just an added bonus. Stop questioning why you make my dick hard.”
I even loved how she was trying to convince him she was nothing special. This is such a common thing women do and I so appreciated him telling her to stop in this way that pointed out just how ridiculous it is.
I liked the twist of adding in the ghost. And as much as I hate to admit it, it's completely believable that human men would hunt shifters for sport.
What I like about this series is how crazy the crew is and how they embrace it. I thought it very funny that Georgia, who is scared of bears was hired by Damon to work around all the Bear Shifter Crews in the area.
In previous books you knew something was off with Jason, but learning what it was made me sad. I was glad that things got resolved, but was surprised that it was Easton that helped so much. I love that Easton is becoming more human and maybe with Jason’s problem being taken care of Easton will move is trailer back and be part of the daily trailer park life.
The drama at the end was crazy! I loved that Georgia stepped in to save the day, even as things became sticky. It did lead to a great ending for her and the rest of the crew.
Loved the ghost-ex aspect of this and how it played into previous books in the series, but I did find the human loving him a little more insta than usual.
Who would have ever thought I would find Trailer Park Bears fascinating? Well, the way T.S. Joyce writes them, you simply can’t put the books down!
The Trailer Park Bears truly do live in trailer parks. Broken-down singlewides, parked in the middle of the forest, where Dragon Shifter Damon Daye has brought them in to clear trees devastated by bug infestations. The TPB’s series is actually more than one series. The first tells the story of the Saw Back Bears, this second series is all about the Gray Backs. While the Ashe crew, the stars of the Saw Bears series, is the “A Team” of lumberjacks, well, the Gray Back crew is, as Alpha Creed puts it, “The C Team”. Rowdy, constantly battling, and constantly covered in blood, the Gray Backs are a misfit band of dominant bears. Broken dominant bears. Creed the alpha, Matt the man-ho, Clinton and Jason the goofballs. And then there is Easton, a bear so broken he can’t stand to live close to the others – and can’t seem to stop fighting, even when it might mean his death. A broken clan with a brutal and savage history, they are the clan that nobody wants to mess with.
Book one was Matt’s story. Book two took us deeper into Creed’s story. Gray Back #3, Gray Back Ghost Bear introduces us to Georgia Ames, a KickAss park ranger hired by Damon Daye to protect his forests, and his crews, from interlopers. Georgia knows alll about brown bears, from her stint in Alaska - where she learned to be terrified of them. Now, she is to protect them? Sigh.
Then, she meets Jason, a bear shifter who is apparently mad as a Hatter, and a group of broken bears in a broken down trailer park. Suddenly, there is a great big target on her back, and spending time with Jason may just spell her death.
This one steps up from the slightly disappointing second in the series. I loved Willa from the first book, and Georgia is another favorite. She may be terrified of bears after Alaska, but she never backs down from doing what she needs to do to protect her charges. She is a great character. Oh, and Jason is pretty OK too.... ;-)
This was a great story and a great romance. I loved it. It is the third Gray Back Bears book. I think it could be read standalone, but it is more fun if you read all the others to know who everyone is, and to see what is happening to them since their story. The heroine was cool. A tough park ranger with a gun. She is pretty scared of bears, because of living in Alaska for a year, but she knows the people are bear shifters, who are more people than bear. She is still pretty nervous. She goes to introduce herself, as she is new on the job, and meets and has a strong reaction to the hero, a bear shifter with a ghost haunting him. The reasons for the haunting, the details of who the ghost is, and what the ghost does is all really neat. That is one of the focuses of the story throughout. There are also poachers who are encroaching too close to where the bear shifters live and work. She is chasing them down, getting to know the bear shifters and their mates, and getting really close to the hero as they try to solve the haunting. The poachers turn out to be a really dangerous problem, and result in the very exciting climax of the story. There are also other climaxes, of the more sexy kind, and they are well-written and hot. The dialog is very good, with lots of humor, too. I really enjoyed this book.

This review is from: Gray Back Ghost Bear (Gray Back Bears Book 3) (Kindle Edition)
When you pick up a T.S. Joyce book, shifter or otherwise, you better be prepared to be carried into the story, anticipate every page, and fall in love with the characters. You'll always find humor, bloody tooth & claw action, heart-tugging emotion, and sex scenes so deliciously described you'll squirm in your seat and look around blushing hoping nobody noticed! That's exactly what you'll find here in Jason & Georgia's story, Gray Back Ghost Bear. In this 3rd book of the series we find out what makes Jason Tragor such a broken, damaged bear that he's in this last-chance group of misfits that no other crew will accept. A spunky forest ranger with a fear of bears is his last hope to banish the ghost of his past and in the midst of a deadly confrontation, discovers her place in this family of accepting, loyal and fiercely protective outcasts. I just can't say enough about how thoroughly enjoyable each and every book from this author is. Without hesitation 5 stars!
Gray Back Ghost Bear by T.S Joyce was a quick read.
Jason is being haunted by the ghost of his late mate Tessa. He is slowly going insane, until Georgia, a park ranger who came stumbling into the trailer park. She is scared of bears, but there is something about Jason that she can't help but want to get to know more of. Slowly they form an unbreakable bond.
But will Tessa finally allow him to be happy?? Or will he lose yet another mate??
Really good one. Dramatic and sweet. Recommend all of this author's books to those who aren't familiar with her work. Yes, it's bear shifters, but very well-written and proofread. As satisfying as reading Celia Kyle's very best stuff. Her Wolf Brides series is one of my all-time favorites, which I am thinking about re-reading since I've read almost all of her books now except for Easton's.
Jason can't escape the woman who turned him, even after she dies. Then Georgia comes into his life and with Easton's help, they defeat Jason's ghost. The real trick, though, is to live through all the challenges they face.
I liked Jason and Georgia. They were both sweet, neat ppl . And I absolutely loved seeing Easton/Beaston unfold a little more like this beautiful slow to bloom flower 🌺 . And while the story all was ok but needed more depth as per usual the romance part of things just
Well it just didn’t work for the most part for me . Gah. How do I put this. Ms. Joyce’s couples/pairings almost always seem move too fast to believable, this one was just stupidly fast. Ok, ok, if she were a writer who’d established a shifter world where mates were established quickly w/a look or a touch or a smell/sniff a speedy pace to “your mine !” would be expected. Even though we’d all want them to take their time gettin* to know each other before saying I love you 💕 . Weirdly though Ms. Joyce hasn’t established that kinda world yet,yet she still has them racing thru getting to know each other to the biting and claim portion of the show and blurting our verbal “I love you‘s 💕 “ to each other . Of course after their still very insecure with each other messed of backstories NOT withstanding because usually they’ve ONLY KNOW EACH OTHER TWO DAYS!!!!! And maybe only seen each other twice!!! Seriously . WTH??!?!? That’s what ticked my off and kept me from being as connected to these two sweethearts as I have liked . Georgia was nice but annoying at first and Jason was hurting but a really good guy,but them getting hooked on each other as fast as they did just didn’t work for me. Their encounter didn’t seem all that. He seemed to barely notice her and she seemed caught in a cross between first sight lust over a attractive guy and her fear of bears. And Het supposedly almost a week later they couldn’t stop thinking of the other ? Right. That just pulled me out of the story. Jason I kinda got, I mean anything that pulls him out him being haunted by his evil ex but Georgia? She was supposed a professional out hunting poachers ,one woman out there alone ( that’s just crazy btw) searching for armed men alone ,( again that’s just insane) ( Why would Damon do that?) and yet she can’t stop thinking about some random bear shifter she almost shot and ran from over a week earlier ? Might have been a good kiss but still as a woman out in the woods alone tracking dangerous ppl it just doesn’t fly. The bones of this is an interesting idea. Shifter being haunted by the real ghost of a dead ex mate,a heroine out alone w/no help fir some crazy reason tracking pouches alone . Tracking that according to the way things are told took almost a month I think ( you know that whole thing where suddenly two weeks have passed and ) on land that doesn’t sound big enough to take that long is she’s that good at her job . Then again at the end when her office in the trees has been viciously attacked her first response isn’t to call it in and find back up like a smart/intelligent reasonable person . No,it’s to foolishly rush in in true classic TSTL style. This story could have had a chance to be really amazing if the writer have given this more work, details to add more emotion and depth. It has the ideas for it,just sadly as usual not the follow up. Good ideas and good characters but lacks whats needed to be anything but mediocre, which is so sad because this writer does have the talent to be amazing .
There are poachers in the forests of Damon’s Mountains, although these poachers are more like hunters out for a more unusual prey… and we’re not talking about the average, fully animal bears of the mountains. These hunters are extremely dangerous, and the fight against them will be epic… with consequences.
Damon has hired a ranger to protect his mountains and the bear shifter crews that work within them. Georgia, unfortunately, is terrified of bears from an incident in Alaska so she’s more skittish than brave around these Shifters at first. While her first encounter with the Gray Back crew wasn’t the greatest, she did connect with one man. Jason. For reasons that elude her, this man’s pain calls to her and the attraction is fast and hard… and totally unexpected.
Of all the Gray Back crew, Jason is more crazed and unpredictable than even Easton… and that’s saying something. Yet there is good reason for his madness and at this point being on the Gray Back crew with an alpha that can put him down is the best place for him. Jason is not a natural Shifter, he was turned by a vicious she devil who abandoned him shortly after claiming him… then went and got herself killed. Unfortunately for Jason that wasn’t the end of his misery since somehow she’s managed to elude death and is taking evil delight in haunting him to the point of madness. Jason longs for death… until he meets Georgia.
Gray Back Ghost Bear takes us further into the new world of registered Shifters, and brings into play, once again, some very evil people with an agenda. Georgia is the only person who can ease the constant bombardment of Jason’s ghostly tormentor. She is his mate and in many ways his only hope for a future without madness. Their romance will not be easy, but it is strong and in the end their love will be the saving factor for each. The battle with the hunters after the Shifters will be epic and nerve wracking… and eventually the solution for two people who are destined for each other.
I enjoyed Gray Back Ghost Bear very much. It answered questions… and posed even more for this crew to face. As always, I enjoy seeing the continuing development of couples from earlier in the series. Meeting up with old friends is always a treat in any T.S. Joyce story. Yes, this story is right in the middle of a very long overlapping set of series. While I would highly recommend this story and these series to any Shifter Romance reader – I would also have to say that to get the most from this story you need to start at the beginning. If you cannot start at the very beginning then at least read about this crew from their start. There are interwoven threads that won’t sidetrack a new reader, but will make so much more sense if you know the entire situation… in my opinion.
I read this story through my Kindle Unlimited subscription. For ten dollars a month you get access to thousands of really great stories across all genre, and the authors get paid for you reading the story through to the 100% mark. It’s a win-win. Probably the best 10 bucks I spend a month.
What Is It About: Georgia was hired as the new park ranger for Damon's mountain. There's been an issue of illegal poaching that Georgia must stop before it escalates. Jason is haunted by the woman who turned him into a bear shifter because she says that he murdered her. Georgia and Jason fall in love but they could be torn apart by the danger from the poachers and the ghost.
What I Liked and Didn't: I enjoyed both of the characters and their relationship but I wasn't very invested. I just didn't really feel the connection between the two of them. To be completely honest, nothing about the characters were particularly memorable. I think that it's hard to be a memorable character when the rest of the characters in the trailer park are such large and exciting characters. Plot-wise, everything was over so quickly. The ghost suddenly changed into a completely different person and was helpful? That didn't really make sense to me. The poachers escalated without any real suspense or hint of what they were up to. I liked the premise of the plot but the execution wasn't the greatest. Although, I did like the big battle at the end, it made Georgia come across as a total bad-ass.
Final Thoughts: I thought that the ghost angle would have been more dramatic if there were any hints about it in other books. But this was certainly one of the most unique books of the series, it's the first time they've mentioned any other supernaturals in the world other than shifters so I'd be interested in more of that. Would I recommend it? Sure, why not? Will I be carrying on? Definitely, I want to read Easton's happily ever after.
I think this is my favorite of the Gray Back Bears series so far. It's so different from anything else I've read in the Damon's Mountain series, and just a really fun read.
Georgia just moved to the area because she was hired by Damon to patrol his mountains. There are some poachers on his land that need to be found. Georgia goes over to introduce herself to the Gray Backs after she begins her job, and Jason and her immediately zing.
I really, really liked the backstory Joyce came up with for Jason. Totally caught me by surprise, and I thought it set up the whole story in here really well. And I don't want to spoil it, so I'm not going to say anything about it! But it was really good, and I love how Easton got to be a big help.
This book has a really solid plot that will keep you interested the whole way though. I loved Georgia's character. She's a total badass, and I loved everything about her. Jason and her have some really good banter, too. However, I'm not sure if I feel like the actual relationship had enough time devoted to it. With so many other things going on, Jason and Georgia didn't really have that much time together in here. I did like both of them, and they definitely worked as couple, but I feel like if this had had one or two more chapters of them doing things together, even just tracking the poachers together or something, their relationship would have felt more solid and a little less insta-lovey.
This is the third book in this series. Jason is being haunted by the ghost of his mate/maker. He is barely making it from one day to the next. Then he meets Georgia. Georgia is a park ranger who has been hired by Damon to protect his land from poachers. She is scared of bears and now she finds herself protecting them and living among them. Jason’s bear calms right down when Georgia is around. He finds himself wanting to be around her just to feel normal but when she isn’t around the hauntings are worse. Jason finds himself wanting to be better for Georgia. She deserves someone with their crap together and that isn’t Jason right now. Georgia finds herself wanting to know everything about Jason. The more that she gets to know the bears of Damon’s mountain the more she respects them and wants to protect them. I love Georgia. She didn’t let her fear of the bears stop her from doing her job or from getting to know the men who have bears in them. Poor Jason. He has been struggling for awhile now. Them he fears that the ghost haunting him could keep him from his true mate Georgia. Once again, this book sucked in right from the beginning. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. T.S. Joyce is a fantastic author and I recommend all of her books.
Jason Trager’s got issues, he’s haunted by his late mate. The mate that made and left him. A year working in grizzly territory had park ranger Georgia Ames swearing never again. But her territory is home to three bear shifter crews and her first sighting of them is Jason prepping dinner as he talks over his shoulder to thin air. That’ll work.
Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! Jason’s not the only one that can see his angry, malicious ghost ex, (Tessa), desperately trying to cling to the nooks, crannies and crevices of Jason’s mind. Meanwhile, troublesome poachers methodically work too close to the bear shifter lands. Too bad ghostie and the poachers don’t realize the power of a shifter!
This fast paced, entertaining read had big changes in the small seemingly broken crew that does sex and romance just fine. It’s full of humor, likable heart-touching bags of humanity (characters) that end up with the right match for them though neither Gray Back nor mate exactly fit in a ‘normal’ world. Rating: 4stars
I really loved this book. Jason and Georgia were perfect together and perfect for each other. This series is definitely a HFN, but you know bc they’re shifters it’s a HEA. I wish we would get an epilogue with these books, but even when we don’t they are still that good.
We find out Jason is haunted by a previous “mate”. She’s stuck and he’s stuck day in and day out listening to her bitching. It’s not until the end where redemption comes for both Tessa and Jason. I really enjoyed and liked that it came full circle.
Georgia is scared of bears...lol. But was hired by Damon to protect his land from poachers. She’s pretty badass and I enjoyed her just like Willa and Gia. I liked Easton in this book. Each new female peels off a layer of him. I think he’s misunderstood most of the time. I can’t wait for his book!
Talk about and ex from hell, this story is perfect for those that need to be reminded in waiting for a perfect mate - love & loyalty!
Jason held a secret so focused we how for 5 years, two years with this crew have an ex haunt him 24 - 7! He finds out Easton a crew knows n sees his nightmare ghost. He helps gain an upper hand. Ranger Georgia is trick my down poachers and she is getting close and it's is thick it and haunting and deadly. Lots of action in this book. It also gives insight that those think they are bringing men are too close to see their regrettable fighting so hard for so long and not given my up - they are stronger then they realize or appreciate. Others see it and those are who you let in. Sweet romance of shifters.

I’m addicted to romance books, alien, shifter, thriller, contemporary any type is fine as long as it’s got a good story and a couple coming together through good times and bad, I love the journey, the emotion, the sheer joy of being taken away into the lives of the characters. Out of the hundreds possibly even thousands of books I’ve consumed the ones with deep emotional descriptions are my favorite. TSJ is an author that makes her readers feel, she doesn’t just describe her characters emotions, she rips them out of the page and slams them into the readers heart. I actually tear up in places in this story and that’s a gift. Thank you Ms. Joyce for putting your wonderful work on KU so that I can enjoy hours of joy.
