The Purpose and Power of Praise and Worship tells readers about the significance and role of Praise in restoring man’s original position in creation.

When God created man, the primary purpose he had in mind was to have a family that enjoys fellowship with him. Thus, he created a being (man & woman) in his likeness and put it in Eden (an environment where God lives on earth). Because of God presence in Eden, man didn’t need any workups to get into God since he is already there. But because of disobedience, man is cast out of this environment where he is designed to function to a different environment which we currently in. Since then, man has to work out to bring this environment to the earth and the way to bring it is through Praise.

Praise prepares the altar for God presence in the earth. This has been the case for Mosses, Joshwa, David, etc. The book states that it’s no surprise that Judah is selected out of the 12 tribes to be favored in ruling because ‘Yadah-the root word for Judah’ means ‘to praise.’ This is why the bible tells us to praise every time in Ephesians 5:20

Praise can take different forms which include singing, shouting, making a joyful noise in the midst, thanksgiving, standing, clapping, kneeling, laughing, dancing, so on. These forms of praise are exercised in the Bible to bring God presence to people.

According to the book, praise must be exercised in private and should progress to congregational level as in the case of King David. The book also states that praise has Seven steps it follows, although it is not used in the strict order in the Bible. The steps are thanksgiving, hand extended thanksgiving, praising in abandon, shouting, making hymns, blessing God, and singing own hymns. When these steps followed, they allow God to come to us. But as God is holy, a praiser must be holy in the first place before starting up the steps.

Once man initiates praise, worship follows, which is God’s response to praise. As a result, worship is dependent on God whether he wants to respond to our initiative. But when God answers, worship is released and it contains peace, joy, mercy, power, victory, wisdom, rest so on., which is the environment a man missed in creation, i.e., Eden.

Many times as a Christian people run after God, chasing Him with a long list of prayer requests. God doesn't mind hearing about our needs, but He wants our praise and worship. That is when He just comes in! This book teaches all about praise and worship and how to get to the place where God just comes in! This book really opened my eyes to many things! God used it to deepen my walk with Him through praise and worship!!

REVIEW

The book centres on helping readers understand deeply the essence of praise and worship and how to stay in God’s presence.

Myles Munroe started by narrating the reasons for the existence of humanity using diverse biblical references.

He brought to my attention that there is a right environment for all of God’s creation to thrive effectively. The author made me realise the potency of praise. More so, he outlined the characteristics of praise.

God is worthy of your praise in the best of times, the worst of times, and all the mundane moments in between.~ Myles Munroe

Chapter seven stood out for me because it brought to my awareness how praises is to be carried out effectively. He shared the several forms of praise using a biblical standpoint by sharing the lives who praised God.

The author reminded me that God doesn’t need my praises to feel good, but he needs it to create an enabling environment to come in. There are seven dimensions of praise, according to the author.

He pointed out that you don’t get God’s presence because you asked for it, but because you qualify for it.

In the author’s words:

• Praise is initiated by us. Worship is God’s response.

• Praise is something we do. Worship is something God releases.

• Praise is our building a house for God. Worship is God moving in.

In conclusion, he shared many benefits of staying in God’s presence in one’s life and how it changes everything.

I love how the author reminded its readers of the principles in each chapter to refresh their minds.

This book is essential to those who want to stay in God’s presence and experience what it truly means to praise and worship God.

This book was quite good! I learned a lot. I missed the discussion questions that some of his other books have. I think that would have helped me with comprehension. I’m definitely going to have to go back and really mediate on some of the things mentioned. Overall this book gave me what I needed. It confirmed some things for me as well. This book really encouraged me to seek God’s presence at all time.

We need God's presence. God's presence brings joy. God is the highest power and it is positive energy which when we feed we will know no worry. God comes to us when we praise him. In our world, we are never or we rarely feel grateful for things like being able to wake up, having food, good health, and peace in the family. Praise and praise. When you praise God will respond (Worship).

Earth shatteringly good. Very underrated. This man was a giant. We all needed to hear this. Chapter 9, is almost never spoken about. The whole point of praise is lost in translation. The Hebrew has 7 terms which are translated to one word praise. Chapter 10 is the zenith.

I've learned so much from this book. Every day I bring myself in his presence. It's baby steps. His presence through praising him. Dancing for him. Crying before him. Singing a loud. My silent thoughts. It's indescribable.

GoodRead

I like how the book was structured. There are some points that require clarification; such as religious services not being necessary. I am conscious of the fact the people may take this as a command to forsake the fellowship at church.

Before I used to simply sing from the Hymn book in church without understanding why. Thanks to this book I finally understand the purpose of praise.

An amazing read from the first to the last page.
It complimented certain views I've held on the subject but it equally challenged and taught me the importance of praise unlike my earlier concentration on just worship.
It also constantly reminded me of how God requires us to be holy just like Him.
The most assuring thing about this book is how the author backed is explanations with scripture.
