After reading the entire thing, I have no real investment in this novel whatsoever. It just wasn't engaging.

The story is mostly jerky dialogue and extraneous information that doesn't really go anywhere. The author used dialogue from the characters to instruct the protagonist about her life and homeland, but there is absolutely zero action. I kept thinking it would eventually get somewhere, but it never did. There is no resolution, and the ending was more of a "ho-hum, oh well let's end it here" solution than even producing a cliffhanger. Though, it was meant to be a cliffhanger,  I think.

And the dialogue...oh the dialogue. Long drawn out conversations that are more telling than showing.
There are several instances where the protagonist asks a question and the other characters simply move on to something else entirely new, like she didn't even speak. What? I want to know the answer to her question! Not some story about how much love people have for the queen. It really didn't sit right with me.
And I couldn't seem to find any differentiation between Cece and Bridget. Other than a description, there really was no meat to their persona. Who are they? What makes them tick? I have no real idea who these people are. Heck, I couldn't seem to get a read on anyone. They all seemed to be flat and uninteresting. Other than Tremble, that is. Sometimes it seemed as if the girl was bipolar. One minute she is sweet and helpful, and the next she becomes a spoiled brat. What really got under my skin was that for most of the time she feels uneasy with Laken, and then all of a sudden she finds him to be easy-going. Then we flip back to the uneasiness. Which is it? Make up your mind and stick with it please. The inconsistency messes with our heads.

Moving on. The grammar in this story leaves a bit of confusion. There are more than several sentences that are awkward and misleading. Plus, I found there were a lot of homonym problems as well as tense mix-ups. But I have seen much worse.

In the end, although it was fairly clean, I have no actual feelings what-so-ever about the storyline. I respect the effort, but it was just bland, which is why I can't reccomend this book to anyone. Not when there are so many books with great storylines.

For my clean readers:
Pretty much as clean as it gets.

There are a whole host of novels out there that follow the basic premise that the main character has grown up thinking him or herself an ordinary person, living an ordinary life only to discover at a certain, pre-arranged-by-the-fates-time that he or she is anything but ordinary. Rosa Lee Jude’s novel, Tremble, is one of those novels. Because that trope has been used over and over, it is easy to allow oneself to think it trite or clichéd when an author trots it out, so it is important for an author to really make him or herself stand out in a sea of similar novels. Unfortunately, Tremble doesn’t stand out as much as it possibly could. Do not mistake my notion that Tremble doesn’t push itself to the forefront of this genre to mean that it is not a good and enjoyable book, because it is. Despite the fact that I’ve read, quite literally, hundreds of books in a similar vein, I still enjoyed it. My only real issue with the book is that it seems to end rather abruptly. The ending isn’t a cliffhanger, per se, but it is obvious that this book was meant to be part of a series from the beginning because the story is extremely incomplete. I did enjoy the book enough that I would be interested in going forward in this world and see what trouble Tremble can get herself into. It is a relatively clean read, so I feel comfortable recommending the book to 16+.

Good character development and interesting storyline that makes for an enjoyable read. This one will cause me to buy the next book, though I think it will ultimately end well.

Good

This is a good book but not any action. The characters are good as is the story line but I would like to see what happens next. So grab your copy and enjoy an ice read.
