Wrong Color: A true story of a non-fatal hate crime on the street of Bulgaria

Rate this book
This is a true story of an Indian scientist attacked on the street of Bulgaria. Hate crime in Bulgaria is something that happens on a regular basis, yet the Bulgarians are indifferent about it, to the point of completely denying it. At a time of increasing racial conflicts, global economic slowdown and political instability, an upsurge of such events seems to be unavoidable. However, if one cannot actively participate in addressing these problems, s/he can at least acknowledge their existence instead of trying to cover them up. Unfortunately most of the Bulgarians and perhaps people in other European countries prefer to remain silent. This is why it is extremely important to be vocal about such incidences. Not to play the role of a victim but to warn other people who might get into such dangers and also to raise consciousness against it. Anger is perhaps the natural reaction to such violent offense. However, it is wise not to act on it. Because "An Eye for an Eye Will Make the Whole World Blind" as our great leader Gandhi warned us. Thus, a non violent but firm protest against it seems to be the right thing to do.

Very disturbing and thought provoking

Intolerance is now a world wide phenomenon....tragically in India too. Luckily it was non fatal....in India many such encounters turn fatal!
