Excerpt from Finding List of Books Common to the Branches of the Public Library of the City of Boston: September, 1902
With few exceptions the titles in this list may be found at all the Branches except that at West Roxbury.
Previous issues of the Branch Finding List have contained only the accessions since June 1, 1897 this issue includes all the important titles' which are common to the Branches. It should be understood, the Branch collections are still far from being uniform or adequate in certain classes, and that this list is in no sense an ideal one.
Books are entered here according to classes, and under the author's name only, except. In the following divisions Individual Biography, Where the subject precedes the author; Fiction, where each-book is entered under title as well as author; Books for Younger Readers, where a separate list by titles has been added to the author list.
