Australian romance author Ally Blake loves reading and strong coffee, porch swings and dappled sunshine, sparkly notebooks and soft, dark pencils.

She also adores writing love stories. Having sold over four million copies of her Harlequin Mills and Boon novels worldwide, she is living her dream.

This surprised me. I found this beauty at a second hand book store and I didn't know anything about it. I picked it up , because it was one of the only books I could find that sounded like it could be a romcom .

This book is a collection of three short romantic stories by three different authors.

The first one I adored so much I wanted more.
The second one I enjoyed, it was good to read ,but I wanted more depth in places.
The Third one surprised me the most I absolutely devoured it , it was so great and I loved it .

These were so easy to read , absolutely great .

I originally got this book as I had just read The Little Shop of Hopes and Dreams by Fiona Harper and I was interested in reading further work.

This novel is three short blind date love stories

The Wedding Wish - Ally Blake
this story centres around event planner Holly who after a bump in the street with a stranger decides it's time she settled down and got married. Enlisting the help of her best friend and her husband who's relationship she idolises she goes on a series of dates with men they set her up with. There's only one problem Holly has already met her Mr Right in the form of Jacob Lincoln. Following a range of unexpected and expected encounters Holly has to wonder if her wedding plan is the right thing to do.

The characters in the story are believable, they have great chemistry and are written with wit and candour. The story itself is predictable as you would expect, girl meets boy, girl losses boy etc but the road they follow keeps you entertained for the short time it takes to tell the tale.

Blind Date Marriage - Fiona Harper
This is the story of Serendipity (Serena) who is the daughter of a Rock Star who is searching for Mr Right and trying to avoid all those who want to use her to get close to her father or those who emulate his lifestyle. She knows what she wants and is on track to get it. Coming across early in the story as self sufficient, confident and easy going Serendipity is a likeable lead. She is set up on a blind date with Jake who isn't the marrying kind. But the heart wants what the heart wants and so ensures a tangled tale of chasing what you want when it might not get you what you want.

The story is witty and charming, it's not a story I can identify with but I did enjoy reading it.

The Blind Date Surprise
Annie meets her ideal man on line and leaves her outback farm for a date in the city only to find the man of her dreams has stood her up. She falls instead with his Uncle.
This was my least favourite of the three stories, don't get me wrong its a sweet story but I feel like I've read it before. I didn't feel connected to Annie as much as I wanted to be and found the main plot points of the story weren't as developed as I'd have liked. Not a bad story but not my favourite.

The book contains three separate contemporary romance tales. Based on the title and cover, I was expecting some funny reads. What we got instead were standard romance reads.

The first story by Ally Blake focuses on how we get in our own way. Holly and Jacob's passion is evident on every page and they have the sort of antagonistic chemistry that makes you smile. A-

The second tale by Fiona Harper got off to a rocky start for me. I disliked the first guy so much that I couldn't get past that. I could never root for him or be on his team. The plot goes into some deep and difficult scenarios and was less of the light read I was expecting. B

The last story in the book is outback girl come to the big city. It's cute and cheesy but also full of cliche. I'm not sure that it added anything new to the genre but it was a classic romance read. B

Overall: B

The book contains three separate contemporary romance tales. I was hoping they would be intertwined with each other but each was a stand alone tale.

I loved the idea of romance book spun around the concept of "blind dates", there was so much potential here for some wonderful, humorous romance stories, unfortunately it fell short for me..

Blind Dates and Other Disasters is an anthology that contains three short stories that all begin with a disastrous blind date. All three stories were sweet and cute. For the most part, they were fairly lighthearted, and they provided an enjoyable reading experience. All had likeable characters that I could root for and interesting storylines. While I liked all of the stories, I belive that the first one, by Ally Blake, was my favorite.

I loved this book. Every romance, as you can tell by the title, starts with a blind date that goes awry in way or another. This is the first time that I have read anything by either author, but i will definitely be going back for more. All of the stories were outstanding and I was reading and laughing out loud through everyone.

Definitely a great read!!!
