Water Bear Shifters #4

An Alpha's Tempest

Rate this book
Chemist Rhythm Scott couldn’t turn down the chance to move to Alaska for a new research job. She jumped at the opportunity to earn a generous salary, and live in a wild, adventurous place. But she should have known the job was too good to be true—after a few months at her new gig, she discovers that there is a sinister, hidden purpose behind the research she’s been doing: kill off the whole population of bear shifters. Rhythm has never been one to sit on the sidelines while evil prevails, so she makes it her mission to stop the senseless killing. What she didn’t realize when she ran without a second thought into the fray, is that she was running straight into the life of the most gorgeous, captivating man she had ever met. Unfortunately, he seems fixated on saving bear shifters—not on finding love.

Ben Harrington is a man on a mission: stop the scientists who are trying to kill bear shifters, or die trying. He is consumed with this mission, and he definitely isn’t interested in romance. After losing his whole clan to a deadly virus, he’s not interested in opening his heart to love again. But when he meets the beautiful Rhythm Scott, his heart doesn’t give him much of a chance. He’s falling hard and fast for her, and she seems to be falling for him, too. The only problem is that she’s determined to be on the dangerous front lines of the fight against the scientists. Terrified of losing her, Ben tries to keep her away from the battle. But, at the end of it all, she might be the only one who knows how to save the bear shifters.

Can Ben make peace with the fact that loving Rhythm means he’ll have to take a chance on losing her? And will Rhythm be able to save her new shifter friends before it’s too late? Find out in this steamy bear shifter romance.

AN ALPHA'S TEMPEST is part of Sloane Meyers' Water Bear Shifters Series. While this 48K word novella can easily be read as a standalone story, you'll likely enjoy reading all of the Water Bear books

As long as you don’t mind loose ends, these books are good enough.

I’ve enjoyed this entire series. Each of the four books have been entertaining enough. But every time I reread them i’m always left with the same questions.
Having to rawr every time they shift isn’t particularly stealthy. (Which isn’t really a question!)
Why were the scientists so blindly determined to eliminate all the bear shifters?
Who was funding their enormous operation?
Are we just supposed to believe that the scientists didn’t back up their computer files?
Was every single scientist working for this enormous conspiracy to eliminate the bears working out of that one location?
Apart from that, I usually enjoy spending a lazy day rereading these books.

The last of the four Water Bear shifter series. It is the wrap up and the reason why I am so compelled to encourage you to read all four in order. The scientists have moved to Alaska where they are working desperately to find a virus to wipe out all Bear shifters. A newly hired research scientist was hired to work in a laboratory that was supposedly working on pain medicine and antibiotics. She stumbles upon a man who is chained to a wall but is completely shocked when she sees his lower legs are huge bear legs and feet. The man explains his situation and Rhythm is determined to help him escape even though he's dying. The escape is successful and Rhythm becomes a key to helping the shifters destroy the scientists and their laboratory. During this time she meets the last Panda shifter Ben. Ben is so wonderfully described by the author. You just want to hug him because of his loyalty and the losses he has experienced. Together, with other clans of shifters, the goal of saving the bear clans is accomplished. Explicit sexual scenes. I loved these novellas. They were light reading, highly entertaining, and I definitely recommend them -but in order!!! But that's just my opinion on reading them all and in order. Hope this helps!

An Alpha’s Tempest brings the Water Bear Shifters series to a conclusion – but don’t worry, we aren’t done with Alaska just yet since Ms Sloane’s next series is about to launch with one of the characters you’ll meet in this story. It’s a great way to introduce another clan of Shifters as well as add an excellent character to this story. I liked him – a lot. And can’t wait to start the next series.

Since this conclusion story is pretty well described in the Cover Description – let’s move on to how great a story this is.

Rhythm is an amazing character. She doesn’t back down from anyone – not even her mate, Ben. We all know that Shifters will protect their mates to the extent of wrapping them in bubble wrap if possible, but Rhythm is having none of that. She knows that the scientists who devised this horrendous virus need to be stopped at any cost – and if that means she puts herself on the line too, then so be it. There have been many strong mates in the Water Bear Shifters series, in my opinion, Rhythm is the strongest of them all.

An Alpha’s Tempest nicely brought these Water Bear Shifters stories to a very satisfying conclusion. I’ve enjoyed my time spent with all of these characters. And if you haven’t started this one, I would really recommend that you check this series out. It’s got everything we crave in a Shifter romance – hot Alpha males, strong mates and sexy lovin’ plus a compelling and engaging plot – what more can we ask for?

Ben and Rhythm's story was save for last but it was a fantastic ending to a series

Ben thought it was impossible to find his soul mate, especially in Alaska. After being relocated to Alaska from San Diego, California he knew he chose to be relocated in order to find the scientist responsible for killing his clan. Him along with his three best friends were the only panda shifters left thanks to a virus that the dysfunctional scientists invented to kill off all shifters. So finding Rhythm in the water on a rescue mission with another shifter was fate. Rhythm knew once she stumbled onto Eric that she had to help the weak near death bear shifter. All he wanted was to die among his people and say his last goodbyes. She wondered what type of monsters did she work for that would be so heartless and kill another human being regardless if he's different. She never imagine she would meet and fall in love with her very on coast guard rescuer and panda shifter. Ben was powerful and a pilot. He was also a very warm and charismatic male who realized instantly he needed to keep her in his life. She was his mate after all. Rhythm didn't know she held the key to stopping the scientists until she was relaying the details of a hidden cave and a plant they were using. She was instrumental in stopping the scientist but when things got Rocky and Ben could not shake the feeling that his mate was in trouble all help broke loose. He had gotten his woman back and destroyed the scientists ploy. I don't want to tell you all of it. You must read it and find out for yourself.

Great Conclusion

What a great Conclusion to the Water Bear Shifters Series. Ben and Rhythm were solid characters. You could feel Rhythm's strength leaping from the pages, just as you could feel Ben's strength too. The hot passionate scenes were great, but the storyline is what brought you in.

The Bachelor of group who always said women were trouble finds his mate, even though she looked like a drowned rate when he met her.

Great story!

Love when authors create new series in a already penned out world. Jumped into Water Bear Shifters cold turkey, I have read a good number of the Ice Bear shifters just never got around to completing it. Love how you see the clans from the past and they talk about past villains. Even visit a place you may remember from the final Ice Bear book. Sawyer is definitely cra-zy. It will be interesting to see how the next series will go. Sloane Meyers you write terrific books!

Great read

Just as good as the others. Was nice to see Panda shifters. But really sad to see the last of them, but since it started with the Polar bears and the Blizzards, and then went to Smoke Jumpers. Love how you were able to tie them all together. Can't wait for your next series.

Last one in crew to find mate!

Kindle unlimited standalone book in series. I'd say it was a 3 1/2 - 4 star read. Twists and new characters added. Hope that means more book!! They are a group of rescuers and rare bear shifters. Scientists killed off their clans and they've been in hiding. Good series!

I loved it. I never knew what was going to happen. It was also a warning in a way about natures only here if we take care of our world.

Nice ending

Rhythm is remarkably brave and she is perfect for Ben. It's pretty cool that a human woman was so instrumental in the fight with the scientists. I loved the ending.
