Hank Quense writes satirical fantasy and sci-fi.
Early in his writing career, he was strongly influenced by two authors: Douglas Adams and his Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and Joseph Heller’s Catch-22. Happily, Hank has never quite recovered from those experiences.

I run a self-publishing and book marketing service, where I coach new and seasoned writers—whether you’re just polishing your first draft or sweating over your book’s launch. If you have questions about getting your book out into the world or making it actually sell, I’m always happy to share what I’ve learned.

Besides writing novels, nonfiction books and coaching, Hank lectures on fiction writing, publishing and book marketing.

.He has two daughters and five grandchildren all of whom live close by.

For vacations, Hank usually visit distant parts of the galaxy. Occasionally, he also time-travels.

*I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.*

This guide to self publishing is very informative. Quense uses his own experiences to guide readers through the process of self publishing their first book. He gives advice on everything from budgeting to marketing plans and blog tours. I am currently in the process of preparing one of my stories for publication, so the information contained in this ebook is very informative and useful.

Quense is very honest about what you should expect from your first book. If you are going into this thinking you will make a lot of money, you're likely mistaken. It takes time and money to become an established writer and without a publisher covering the cost, it adds up. This is a reminder that pops up throughout the book, but he constantly reminds you not to be discouraged. The first one is always the hardest.

Full review will be posted on my blog closer to release day.

The Complete Self-publishing Guides, By Hank Quense.
Hank’s box set of e-books is a very useful and practical guide for a first time author who wants to self-publish. Hank speaks from experience and can save you money and disappointment. He has made many of the mistakes he talks about in these four short guides. That is called experience. You can learn a lot from Hank’s experiences in self-publishing.
The books are organized to maximize learning and put it to use developing a budget for your e-book project.
1: Self-publishing a Book: Here is where Hank has tried many of the ways to self-publish. His advice will save you money and time.
2: Marketing Plans for Self-Published Books: Actionable items laid out in a way to make the tasks doable. There is a lot to do. Hank gives you a road map to follow. Well thought out.
3: Manage Your Self-publishing Project: Follow Hank’ s flow charts and mind maps. Essentially guides One and Two as flow charts and mind maps. You should have read Guides One and Two first to get the most of these diagrams.
4: Business Basics for Authors: Will not make you a business expert but will get you started to ask the correct questions. Hank wants you to think like a CEO running a business: selling the book you published. You may not do all the planning Hank does but following his basic strategies will get you going in the right direction.
Especially liked the use of real life examples and realistic numbers to plan both publishing and marketing. Every new author who is serious about writing as a business should follow Hank’s advice as much as they can. I find it interesting that the things that Hank has done I did with my daughter’s book 36 Week Jam Session by Aimee McCarthy published by Benefit Communications Ltd. Our pricing was different than Hank as this is only Aimee’s second time published.

The Complete Self-Publishing Guide is a very informative guide about different ways to pursue publishing a book, choosing a path to take in publishing, marketing, and more. The differences in this book is that the author provides advice drawn from his own experiences, while giving information on all topics concerning publishing and marketing a book. Personally, the guide achieved it's goal in informing potential authors-to-be with most needed information on these topics, but for me, it lacks the voice that's found in How-To guides, which isn't an issue. I find the voice in the How-To guide to be a easy form of material to read verse the tone used in this guide. I like the information provided and the ease access to the information, but it does lack that easy tone How-To books have. This definitely isn't a How-To book, but I can't help, but feel the book will be more alluring to younger authors-to-be with a more upbeat tone, otherwise it's like reading a textbook.

The collection of self-publishing guides is a helpful resource for anyone who are looking to start their writing career or struggling to market their books. The author's honest opinion mixed with good and bad experiences are the highlights of the good book. The author has clearly mentioned the keys to success is persistent hard work. Don’t expect to make huge money at once rather continue to write and eventually will come.
The book provides steps for self-publishing and its stages. How to plan, then edit and organize, print and then very important its promotion. The focus on content and marketing and business side of being an author too. It’s a complete guide and could prove to be quite useful for many individuals who are part-time or full time writers. All in all a collection of organized steps for self-publishing and a lesson to not want success in a day, but continue to do hard work and results will show up!

“Complete Self-Publishing Guide” is Hank Quense’s guide to getting the gears moving on how to publish a quality book on your own. I feel that this is a pretty straight forward way to learn how to go through all of the different levels and hoops that are required of someone who wishes to publish their work. The book is broken down in to segments that have different examples from Quense, those that were both good and bad experiences for him. You get to learn from his experiences and avoid many mistakes that could set you back on your plan. Publishing is not something that is quick or easy because there are other facets, such as marketing the book successfully and also how to deal with the costs verses gain. The breakdown is very easy to understand and it had quite a bit of information, so if you are pondering the idea of publishing on your own, this is a good place to start.
