Ash is hurled into an American graveyard in the 1920s and meets an intense young doctor named Herbert West. If the name sounds familiar, West's obsessed with reanimating the dead at any cost. But he just can't seem to find corpses that are fresh enough. It's H.P. Lovecraft's New England - and his bizarre original short story as the source material. Bonus! Also, featuring Reanimator #0!
This is nothing really. Not sure why they made it. Not offensively bad or anything, just thought they’d have a solid idea for a one shot. Nothing that wasn’t done better in previous ash bs reanimator crossover.
Pretty forgettable, unfortunately. I'm not much of a Re-Animator fan, but the first crossover being longer benefitted the story, even if it did have too much of a self-parody feel. This one-shot is kind of just there. The backup story didn't have much either.
This was a digital comic I received as part of a bundle of Dynamite Comics from a Humble Bundle deal. I thought the art worked well for the genre of crossover here, and the writing was fine. Nothing really drew me into the story beyond knowing the two characters headlining the story, and it was ultimately a light short story that didn't really have a payoff in the end. After poking around a bit, I found this was because, despite being billed as a "One-Shot", this story was a jumping off point for a further ongoing crossover in the main Army of Darkness comic book.
